What to Do If the White Moonlight Omega Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 24
Returning to class, Cha Yuxuan realized just how high her popularity had soared. Not only were her former Alpha “brothers” now treating her with utmost gallantry and politeness, but even the usually aloof Betas in class were quietly gravitating toward her.
She couldn’t help but marvel, “It turns out Omegas are the ones who are truly popular.”
In reality, it had always been this way. Alphas made up 5% of the population, while Omegas accounted for only 3%. High-quality Omegas were rarer still. Although Alphas were often proud and untamable, they would cast aside their arrogance when pursuing an Omega.
Su Meng had never lacked Alpha suitors, but for the past two years, she had been single-mindedly focused on chasing Yan Qingran and turned everyone else down. When her new interest, the “Alpha” girl, differentiated into an Omega, she suddenly lost her target. Now, she sat on the playground stands, clutching her camera and staring blankly into space.
Na Liangcai sat down beside her with two cups of milk tea. “Want some? Smashed Fresh Orange and Succulent Grape—both no ice, half sugar.” These were Su Meng’s favorites, exactly how she always ordered them.
Su Meng glanced at him. “What for? No work, no reward.”
Na Liangcai pointed at her camera, a shy, reddened smile appearing on his tanned face. “Send me a copy of the photos you took of Cha Yuxuan. Since she’s an Omega now, you won’t be chasing her anyway.”
Su Meng huffed. “No. Who says I won’t? Omegas can be with Omegas too.”
Na Liangcai was stunned. He pointed at her, stuttering, “You… two Omegas won’t have a future!” He shoved the Succulent Grape into her hand and fled the playground.
Su Meng unwrapped the straw and took a sip. The familiar taste made her squint comfortably. Idiot. He’s liked me for years and he’s still such a coward.
Among this year’s freshmen, there were only four Omegas in the entire Architecture Department, including Cha Yuxuan. They were all girls and shared a dorm. Yun Qi was an old acquaintance with a great personality, but the other two seemed difficult to get along with. In fact, Cha Yuxuan felt a strange sense of hostility from them. This was going to be tricky, but she decided to observe for a few more days.
The Evening Routine
Military training continued as usual. Yuan Chu stopped picking on her and went easy on her, but Cha Yuxuan still found it more exhausting than before. Her stamina had decreased, and she got blisters on her feet just from marching, though her flexibility had improved significantly.
As September approached, the sun began to set earlier. Every day when they finished at five, the sun was lower than it used to be. Yan Qingran would always enter the playground from the east entrance, walking through the setting sun to the stands to watch her.
Yan Qingran held her hand up to shield her eyes from the glare, searching for that one figure. Cha Yuxuan’s class stood in a North-South formation; she was in the back row on the left, so she could frequently peek toward the stands. Seeing her gaze fixed on Yan Qingran, Yuan Chu dismissed the class five minutes early for the first time.
Cha Yuxuan grabbed her water bottle and bag and headed straight for Yan Qingran. Many people noticed and immediately began snapping photos. Yun Qi, who had intended to ask her to dinner, saw where she was going and happily watched the two leave together.
Yan Qingran took her bag and handed over a cup of Mango Pomelo Sago. “Extra mango, less ice, full sugar.”
Cha Yuxuan’s eyes crinkled into a smile. She held out her palm. Yan Qingran lightly high-fived her, a smile in her eyes. Her hand was much larger than Cha Yuxuan’s, with long, elegant fingers.
The shippers in the crowd screamed internally: “AHHH! The ‘Real Couple’ is serving sugar on the spot!”
They walked slowly. Cha Yuxuan’s feet hurt from the blisters, so she dawdled.
“Did you twist your ankle?” Yan Qingran slowed down to match her.
“No, just blisters.”
Yan Qingran looked at the passing crowds and stepped closer. “Should I carry you?”
Cha Yuxuan pointed to a black sedan ahead. “No need, your car is right there. It’s only a few steps.”
Yan Qingran hummed, thinking to herself: This clearly isn’t about the distance.
As they walked, Quan Yinshiao appeared from the side, twirling a car key with a smirk. “Going somewhere? Need a lift?”
Cha Yuxuan moved closer to Yan Qingran. “No thanks, we have a car.”
“Are you going to eat?” Quan Yinshiao pressed.
“Mm, going to the Senior’s house for dinner,” Cha Yuxuan replied flatly.
What? Already going to her house? Quan Yinshiao watched in a daze as they got into the car. She punched the air in frustration. As long as they aren’t married, I still have a chance.
The “Highway Battle” and the “Reward”
Yan Qingran drove steadily out of the school gates. Suddenly, a bright red convertible pulled up alongside them. Quan Yinshiao, wearing sunglasses, honked her horn repeatedly.
Cha Yuxuan leaned out. “Hey! You’re in the wrong lane. You’ll be fined!”
“Damn,” Quan Yinshiao cursed under her breath. Unfamiliar with the local traffic rules, she instinctively assumed Cha Yuxuan was right and quickly swerved into another lane.
Yan Qingran raised an eyebrow and turned the steering wheel, taking the original exit and leaving her behind. Cha Yuxuan saw Quan Yinshiao get stuck at a red light in the rearview mirror and nearly choked on her milk tea from laughing.
As they went upstairs, Yan Qingran asked, “I heard your birthday is at the end of this month. Which day exactly?”
Cha Yuxuan looked at her mysteriously. “Guess. I’ll give you one chance. If you’re right, there’s a reward.”
“What’s the reward?”
“I’ll tell you after you guess correctly.” I’ll just make one up on the spot, Cha Yuxuan thought.
Yan Qingran paused, then said firmly, “The 31st.”
“Wow…” Cha Yuxuan huffed. “You definitely knew beforehand, didn’t you?”
“I didn’t. It was a guess. Maybe intuition.”
“Hmph. Your reward is to accompany me for a massage. My treat.”
Yan Qingran choked. Her ears turned red. A… massage? As a chaste Alpha, she never went to those kinds of places.
Seeing her expression, Cha Yuxuan laughed. “What are you thinking? I mean a regular massage. Military training is exhausting and makes the muscles ache. A massage will make it much better.”
“Oh, right.” Yan Qingran nodded woodenly. She opened her door and gave Cha Yuxuan a brand-new pair of size 36 slippers.
Dinner at the Senior’s House
This was the third time Cha Yuxuan had been to Yan Qingran’s home. She flopped onto the sofa and squeezed a decorative pillow. Yan Qingran brought out a medical kit, found the right ointment and band-aids, and knelt beside her. “Take off your socks.”
“I’ll do it myself,” Cha Yuxuan said bashfully.
Yan Qingran looked up and teased, “How are you going to see the bottom of your own foot?”
“I can’t let you keep doing this for me forever,” Cha Yuxuan grumbled as she pulled off her socks. Yan Qingran chose silence; that was a difficult question to answer for now.
She carefully inspected Cha Yuxuan’s feet. There were two blisters on the pink soles; one had already burst, exposing raw skin. She cleaned it gently with a cotton swab. Cha Yuxuan winced and pulled back instinctively.
“It’s okay, it won’t hurt.” Yan Qingran comforted her softly, applying antibacterial ointment and a waterproof band-aid. “Take this off after your shower tonight, apply medicine again before bed, and then you won’t need the band-aid.”
Yan Qingran then headed to the kitchen. She had already started a pot of pork rib and corn soup. She planned to make a small portion of sweet and sour ribs, garlic eggplant, and tomato and eggs.
Cha Yuxuan limped into the kitchen to “supervise” the tomato and eggs. “Senior, it’s time to add sugar.”
Yan Qingran paused. Sugar in tomato and eggs? She pursed her lips but followed instructions.
“A little more,” Cha Yuxuan directed. When Yan Qingran reached for the salt, she blocked her. “No need for salt.”
Yan Qingran silently put the salt spoon down. Is this actually edible?
Once the four dishes were done, Cha Yuxuan took photos of the food and a few selfies with Yan Qingran before they started eating. Yan Qingran didn’t dare touch the sugared tomatoes; she stuck to the soup and eggplant.
“Senior, you don’t add sugar to tomato and eggs?”
“No, I only add salt.”
“Oh, I guess it’s just a preference. You don’t like sugar anyway.” Feeling a bit guilty, Cha Yuxuan served Yan Qingran a bowl of rib soup. “Drink more soup, it’s good for your body.”
Yan Qingran ground her molars. “My body is fine. I don’t need to ‘supplement’ it.”
Cha Yuxuan rolled her eyes. “You Alphas are so strange. I didn’t say your body was bad. I think you’re amazing, you can bend steel pipes with your bare hands! But even if you’re strong, you should still drink rib soup.”
Yan Qingran lowered her head in defeat. “We Alphas are all like this.”
