What to Do If the White Moonlight Omega Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 23
The atmosphere in the room turned subtle. Xue Jiu chewed on a sweet and sour pork rib while cautiously glancing between the three women.
Yan Qingran lowered her head to sip her soup, pretending not to understand the implication. She knew Cha Yuxuan didn’t mean anything by her words, and she guessed that Xue Lanlan might misunderstand, but she had no intention of explaining.
Cha Yuxuan scratched her neck. The gland at the back of her neck felt itchy, but she didn’t dare touch it.
Xue Lanlan exchanged a few polite pleasantries before picking up a particularly well-presented sweet and sour pork rib and placing it in Yan Qingran’s bowl. “Here, Xiao Yan, try this. It’s my specialty.”
Flattered, Yan Qingran thanked her and immediately took a small bite. A greasy, caramelized sweetness spread through her mouth, making her stomach churn instantly. She swallowed it whole without even tasting the tender meat. She lowered her head to hide her furrowed brows. This is way too sweet.
Cha Yuxuan caught her reaction from the corner of her eye and her lip twitched. If you don’t like it, just say so.
Seeing how quickly she ate, Xue Lanlan piled more food into her bowl—oily sweet and sour ribs and “pulled-silk” sweet potatoes that were explosively sweet. Since the Cha family all had a sweet tooth, they used a lot of sugar in their cooking. Yan Qingran stared at her bowl in contemplation; if she ate all this sugar, she was certain she would throw up on the spot.
Cha Yuxuan reached out her chopsticks to intercept Xue Lanlan’s. “Mom, you’re being biased! This is clearly my favorite.”
Xue Lanlan quickly placed a sugar-oil rice cake into her daughter’s bowl. “Fine, fine, this one is for you.”
As Xue Lanlan moved to serve Yan Qingran again, Xue Jiu began to grumble too. “Mom, what about me? I want that one too!”
Unable to handle both of them, Xue Lanlan served them instead. While her mother was distracted with Xue Jiu, Cha Yuxuan swiftly moved the sweet dishes from Yan Qingran’s bowl into her own, replacing them with lighter, savory items.
Yan Qingran looked at her in surprise. She remembered never explicitly telling anyone she disliked sweets; she had only occasionally declined them. When Xue Lanlan looked back, she noticed the change in Yan Qingran’s bowl while Cha Yuxuan happily munched on a sweet potato. Her expression shifted, and she took a long, hard look at Yan Qingran.
After the meal, Xue Lanlan wanted a private chat with her daughter. Yan Qingran took the initiative to offer to show Xue Jiu around the campus.
Walking down the road of Q University with his hands in his pockets, Xue Jiu said casually, “I feel like my sister likes you.”
Yan Qingran paused for a beat before replying, “I used to feel that way too.”
“Used to?” Xue Jiu asked.
Yan Qingran said melancholily, “Now it feels like she doesn’t even know she likes me.”
Xue Jiu’s expression was complex. Well, that’s a first.
Yan Qingran picked up a fallen leaf from a bench. “Or maybe she really doesn’t like me, and I’m just overthinking it.”
“Do you like her?” Xue Jiu tested.
“I suppose I do…” Yan Qingran tossed the leaf into a trash can. Before he could respond, she added, “Keep this a secret for me.”
Xue Jiu thought: This is getting complicated. After a moment, he said, “I’ll keep it quiet. You two handle your own business. But if you do end up together, please be patient with her. She’s rowdy and a handful.”
Yan Qingran shot him a look. “If we’re together, that’s none of your business. She’s my wife; I’ll pamper her myself.”
For a moment, her Alpha dominance leaked out. Xue Jiu shrugged. “As long as you know.”
Xue Lanlan rarely had the chance for a heart-to-heart with her daughter, but Cha Yuxuan’s differentiation into an Omega provided the perfect opportunity. After discussing physical health precautions, she immediately pivoted to romance.
“Xiaoxuan, remember my words: an Alpha’s mouth is a lying ghost, and an Alpha’s heart is colder than ice. Now that you’re an Omega, you must keep your eyes open. Don’t trust their sweet talk…”
Cha Yuxuan felt her mother had a massive prejudice against Alphas. She tried to suggest gently, “Not all Alphas are scumbags. Some have great personalities, are good-looking, and are very loyal.”
Xue Lanlan curled her lip. “Ha! Alphas are the most unfaithful people on this planet, bar none.”
“Was Dad like that too?” Cha Yuxuan asked. Her parents had divorced when she was very young, and while she didn’t know why, she knew her father had never had another Omega in all these years.
Xue Lanlan gritted her teeth. “Your father is a different kind of scumbag. He’s frigid. A literal block of ice. I thought choosing an honest, steady Alpha like him would give me peace of mind, but he… he just didn’t work. He drove me crazy!”
“Oh.” Cha Yuxuan suddenly thought of Yan Qingran’s heat that night, she had bent a steel pipe with her bare hands. That was pretty terrifying.
Xue Lanlan leaned in mysteriously. “Once you find a partner, Mom will teach you a few tricks. Even a frigid one has to ‘perk up’ eventually otherwise, how do you think you and your brother got here?”
Cha Yuxuan’s ears turned red. “No need, no need! My partner couldn’t possibly be frigid.”
“How do you know?” Xue Lanlan asked suspiciously.
Cha Yuxuan patted her chest. “Don’t worry about that. I have my ways.”
Xue Lanlan was skeptical. “Don’t let just any Alpha give you a temporary mark. And if you get serious, make sure to use protection.”
Before leaving, Xue Lanlan mentioned she would bring dinner every night. Cha Yuxuan asked her to make less sweet food. When her mother asked if it was because of Xiao Yan, Cha Yuxuan admitted it honestly: the Senior didn’t like sweets.
This convinced Xue Lanlan that their relationship was special. For Xiaoxuan to be this protective, this girl must really have something.
Three days passed. After specialized training, Cha Yuxuan could now control her pheromones well. The school reassigned her to a new dorm with the Omega fan-girl, Yun Qi. Since Yan Qingran couldn’t enter the Omega dorms, she just helped carry the luggage to the entrance.
Her old roommates tearfully hugged her goodbye and took several photos with Yan Qingran to make up for their previous regrets. Bo Hang quietly adjusted the group so Cha Yuxuan and Yan Qingran were in the center, pressed close together.
Cha Yuxuan suddenly remembered, “Senior, I haven’t eaten the things you brought me that day yet.”
“Should I bring them tomorrow?” Yan Qingran asked. “What kind of milk tea do you like? Desserts? Anything you want, just say it.”
“I want Mango Pomelo Sago.” Cha Yuxuan paused, then asked playfully, “Senior, are you a good cook?”
“I know a little,” Yan Qingran replied conservatively.
Cha Yuxuan folded her hands. “Then I’ll come to your place for dinner tomorrow afternoon. Just home-cooked food. You promised to treat me to a meal before.”
“It’s sunny out; I’ll come pick you up,” Yan Qingran agreed, realizing the utility of having a car.
Cha Yuxuan winked and blew a kiss. “Okay! Thanks in advance, Senior!”
The school forum had been exploding since August 21st. Initially, people were arguing whether the two “Peerless Alphas” were together. Some saw Yan Qingran carrying her, others claimed they saw Cha Yuxuan kissing her neck.
Then, a comment dropped: “I was there. Official word from the instructor: Cha Yuxuan felt sick, Yan Qingran carried her to the infirmary, and Cha Yuxuan differentiated into an Omega on the way.”
The internet went wild. “Cha Yuxuan is an Omega?! If that’s true, I’ll eat my mouse!” “I’ll eat my router!” “I’ll livestream eating a power bank!”
Then someone confirmed: “I was at the infirmary yesterday. When Yan Qingran carried her in, the whole hall filled with Omega pheromones. I heard it with my own ears.”
Instantly, the “Cha-Yan-Yue-Se” shippers rose up, flooding the forum with fanart and fanfiction. Bo Hang led the charge, riding the wave of “sugar” (sweet moments).
When Yan Qingran went out for breakfast the next day, she noticed way more people secretly and not so secretly, photographing her. She frowned, wondering if they were re-ranking the “Goddess List” for the new semester.
When Cha Yuxuan was discharged, she was shocked to find someone waiting at the exit to snap her picture. She walked up to a male Beta and asked, “What are you doing?”
The Beta held his camera high. “Taking photos of a beauty!”
Cha Yuxuan forced a smile. “Thanks, but you’re violating my portrait rights…” Before she could finish, the Beta bolted as fast as he could.
Cha Yuxuan looked in the mirror. Did I really get that much prettier after differentiating?
Would you like me to continue with the next chapter where they have dinner at Yan Qingran’s
