What to Do If the White Moonlight Omega Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 21
Cha Yuxuan took a mouthful of warm lotus seed porridge. Yan Qingran took the opportunity to set down the thermos and open the door.
Four people greeted her and swarmed inside.
Quan Yinshiao walked to the bedside carrying several bags. She naturally scanned the entire ward before placing the items on the nightstand. “I heard from the instructor that you’ve differentiated! Everyone chipped in to buy some snacks and fruit for me to bring over, and to see how you’re doing.”
Her Mandarin pronunciation wasn’t perfectly standard, but it was fluent enough. She looked quite capable, with her hair tied in a high ponytail; the ends were dyed indigo, with a few streaks of blue. One could faintly see her Korean heritage in the features of her eyes and brows.
The three people following behind her also entered, making the small ward feel a bit crowded. Yan Qingran carried the thermos to the other side of the hospital bed.
Cha Yuxuan looked at the bags on the nightstand. “Wow, so many good things. Thank you everyone for the concern. I’ll be back to train with you all soon.”
“Mm. Chacha, your voice has become much cuter.”
Quan Yinshiao couldn’t help but lean in to look her over closely. She even felt like reaching out to pinch her slightly baby-fat cheeks, but in the end, she just watched without touching.
Yan Qingran finished capping the thermos and stood by the wall, gazing at them.
Cha Yuxuan didn’t feel any different herself. “Has it?”
Quan Yinshiao said with a giggle, “Yes, you’re more like an Omega now. It’s like you’re speaking with a milk candy in your mouth.”
Beside her, the thin and small Omega, Yun Qi, covered her mouth and laughed. “It feels like a child who hasn’t lost her baby teeth yet.”
The other two Betas chimed in, “Exactly, exactly.”
Cha Yuxuan’s face went dark. The way they spoke, it didn’t sound like she had differentiated; it sounded like she had undergone reverse aging. “No way, how is that possible?”
Quan Yinshiao directed the conversation toward Yan Qingran, looking at her with a curled lip. “Senior, what do you think?”
Yan Qingran glanced at her. “She was always small.”
This little one isn’t even an adult yet; I have to keep a close eye on her so she doesn’t get abducted by bad people.
Quan Yinshiao spoke with hidden meaning, “Hahaha, true. Chacha is two or three years younger than you, Senior. It’s normal for you to treat her like a child.”
Yun Qi was a “Cha-Yan-Yue-Se” (Cha Yuxuan x Yan Qingran) shipper. At this moment, she had already brainstormed over ten episodes of a “upbringing” plotline. “The whole ‘older sister’ vibe sounds so warm. Senior must take great care of you, right?”
Cha Yuxuan gave a sweet smile and looked back at Yan Qingran. “Yes, she does.”
The corners of Yan Qingran’s eyes crinkled slightly. She pointed at the thermos. “Chat while you eat?”
Cha Yuxuan was overjoyed, her tone unconsciously becoming coquettish. “I was just about to say that. I’m starving. Add more sugar, please; it’s not very sweet.”
“Okay.” Yan Qingran nimbly added two packets of granulated sugar and stirred it evenly with a spoon.
Cha Yuxuan watched her eagerly, her moist lips pursing slightly.
For a moment, Quan Yinshiao’s side felt a bit neglected. Yun Qi, however, was perfectly fine; she loved watching the interaction between Cha Yuxuan and the Senior. For some reason, it was just strangely sweet.
Quan Yinshiao tightened her fists and rummaged through the bags on the nightstand. “Do you want some snacks? We bought some milk tablets suitable for Omegas in their differentiation or heat periods. They have calcium and milk protein; the taste is quite good.”
Cha Yuxuan instinctively shook her head. “I’ll have the porridge first.”
She didn’t want to be treated like a child; milk tablets felt a bit too nostalgic.
The ward suddenly fell quiet. Everyone watched silently as Yan Qingran fed Cha Yuxuan the porridge. Yun Qi couldn’t help but take out her phone. “Can I take a photo of you two?”
“Of course.”
Cha Yuxuan pursed her small mouth, chewed carefully, and swallowed. Then, using the hand that didn’t have the IV drip, she pulled Yan Qingran closer and smiled while striking a pose.
Yan Qingran didn’t even have time to put down the spoon before the photo was taken, but there was a clear smile on her lips.
The two were extremely close. She could even smell the faint milk-candy-scented pheromones on Cha Yuxuan.
As if obsessed, Yan Qingran took a few extra breaths, her nose filled with that refreshing, milky-sweet fragrance. She suddenly realized that she didn’t seem to hate sweet pheromones anymore.
Afterward, everyone chatted for a while about funny stories from military training. Yan Qingran mostly didn’t interject, simply listening quietly.
Quan Yinshiao was no longer as aggressive. She forced herself to calm down and think of a strategy. Against such a strong love rival, she wouldn’t stand a chance of winning Cha Yuxuan unless she went all out.
Around 7:15, they had to leave to attend the evening military training session, so they said their goodbyes.
Not long after they left, a nurse came in with a tube of ointment and a bag of medical cotton swabs. “Apply it to the gland area with a swab, spreading it evenly. Once in the morning and once at night for a week. Try to avoid touching the gland with your hands these few days. Don’t let it touch water when bathing; put on a protective patch before you wash.”
Cha Yuxuan felt fine everywhere after differentiating, except for the Omega gland that had suddenly grown at the back of her neck. She couldn’t adapt to it for a moment.
After only half a bowl of porridge, she felt full. Yan Qingran put away the thermos with a look of half-disbelief; she hadn’t seen her have such a small appetite before.
Then, Cha Yuxuan very cooperatively covered her mouth and burped. “Do Omegas eat less than Alphas?”
Yan Qingran nodded. “In theory, yes.”
Cha Yuxuan wiped the corners of her mouth with a tissue. “Then I’m very easy to provide for. I’m not a picky eater and I eat very little.”
Yan Qingran stared at her for a moment. Was she trying to imply something?
Having eaten and slept enough, Cha Yuxuan wanted to play on a phone. She looked left and right but couldn’t see hers. Yan Qingran was already reading a book. Her eyes darted around. “Sister Ran, I want to play on a phone—”
Yan Qingran wasn’t really focused on her book anyway. Being called in such a dainty, sweet voice made her lose her composure. Her fingers trembled; she set her jaw, unlocked her phone, handed it over, and turned back to her book.
Cha Yuxuan, who had originally wanted her own phone, looked at the device in her palm and suddenly found it hard to speak up again.
Holding the phone, Cha Yuxuan stared at the screen and thought that it might not be good if she saw something she shouldn’t.
On the other side, Yan Qingran also realized what happened. She didn’t know why she had just handed over her phone like that, though there wasn’t really anything she couldn’t show.
After thinking it over, Cha Yuxuan still felt she shouldn’t peek at someone else’s privacy, even if it was allowed. She decisively put down the phone and picked up the ointment from the nightstand. “Senior, can you help me apply the medicine?”
Yan Qingran turned and met her clear gaze, momentarily stunned. An Omega’s gland is their most vulnerable spot, especially for a newly differentiated Omega. The gland has just grown and hasn’t formed a protective layer yet; it is at its most primal and sensitive state. Very few Omegas are willing to let others touch their glands.
Cha Yuxuan thought she hadn’t heard clearly and repeated herself.
“Mm,” Yan Qingran softly agreed. She took the ointment from her palm and sat on the chair.
Cha Yuxuan brushed her hair aside and turned her back to her. “Senior, please be gentle. I’m afraid of pain.”
Yan Qingran gave another soft response and slowly approached the back of her neck. Her palms were sweating slightly. She saw the full view of the little one’s gland; it looked slightly different from the textbooks, being a bit more pink and pretty. Through the skin tissue, one could faintly see the network of capillaries interlacing underneath.
If it were to be marked, biting it would surely hurt a lot, Yan Qingran thought. She unconsciously licked her canine teeth, gripped the cotton swab, dipped it in the ointment, and with a trembling hand, tried her best to control her strength as she gently applied it.
Cha Yuxuan also trembled once and bit her lower lip. It wasn’t because of pain; the soft fuzz of the cotton swab sliding across was too itchy. The gland was so sensitive that the tickling sensation made her feel a bit weak all over.
Slowly, the ointment was evenly spread over the gland. A cool sensation washed over her, and Cha Yuxuan finally breathed a sigh of relief. She tidied her hair and turned around, only to find that Yan Qingran had broken into a sweat just from applying the medicine.
She handed over a tissue and asked with concern, “Senior, is the air conditioning set too high?”
Yan Qingran wiped her sweat and said in a raspy voice, “It’s fine. I’m just naturally sensitive to heat. I’ll stop sweating in a moment.”
Once the medicine was applied, Cha Yuxuan conveniently got hold of her own phone and played with it while leaning on her pillow. Yan Qingran went back to her bed to read, but she couldn’t focus at all. A sentence Yuan Chu once said suddenly popped into her head. She opened her iPad, picked up her stylus, and began sketching a composition.
In this way, for almost the entire night, the only sounds in the ward were the faint notification pings and the sound of the Apple Pencil tapping on the screen.
However, whenever Cha Yuxuan had a need, Yan Qingran could always pull herself away quickly, her focus never hindered by her own distractions.
Close to ten o’clock, Cha Yuxuan was exhausted, yawning repeatedly. Finally, she put down her phone. “Senior, I’m going to sleep first. You should get some rest early, too.”
“Mm, I’ll sleep in a bit.”
Yan Qingran looked up, watching her shrink into the thin quilt, leaving only her fuzzy little head visible.
She stared for a moment, and seeing that Cha Yuxuan wasn’t moving, she whispered to herself, “Goodnight.”
Unexpectedly, Cha Yuxuan rolled over, her bright eyes looking at her without a trace of sleepiness. “Now that I’ve lied down, I suddenly can’t sleep.”
Yan Qingran: “…”
“Senior, why do you think I differentiated into an Omega?”
Cha Yuxuan had been unable to figure this out, and thinking about it naturally kept her awake.
Yan Qingran put down her pen and answered her seriously, “Some things might truly be destined.”
Cha Yuxuan was quick to follow the logic. “Like the night before school started when I went to the bar and just happened to run into you—that was destined too. If we hadn’t met that day, we might not even be friends now.”
Yan Qingran’s mind was a mess of various thoughts. She gave a vague reply, “Perhaps.”
Cha Yuxuan rested her hands behind her neck, looking at the ceiling and sighing. “Sigh. I originally found a bunch of Alpha friends. Now it seems I’ll have to make a move on my friends—pick a partner out from among them.”
“That night… did you really think I wasn’t up to the task?”
Yan Qingran suddenly changed the subject, her eyes watching her expressions and movements intentionally or otherwise.
Cha Yuxuan moved her legs embarrassedly. “No. I was a bit drunk then. When I see someone beautiful, I just want to go up, say something, and cause a little trouble.”
Yan Qingran’s brows twitched. “But I was wearing a mask. How did you know I was good-looking?”
Cha Yuxuan let out an “Oh.” “At first, I was looking at the male Omega next to you, but then I realized you were much better looking than him.”
Yan Qingran asked casually, “How good-looking?”
Recalling her feelings from that night, Cha Yuxuan praised her unconsciously, “So good-looking that I wanted to take you home and look at you every day never getting tired of it, day or night.”
Yan Qingran felt her heart give a violent thud. A brilliant display of fireworks seemed to explode in her mind; for a moment, she was dazed.
