Wanxi Rebirth - Chapter 111
All of Xishan knew that Qingwu of Qingyu Mountain—who occasionally helped young spirits gather their spiritual energy—had finally raised a daughter.
She treated a seemingly ordinary black-tailed snake as a treasure, carrying it everywhere she went.
When Qingwu regained her memories, she naturally also revisited the time when she had just raised Yue Tingxi.
Fate is always strange. Back then, she had intended, as she did with other spirits, to simply raise the little snake until it could transform into a human and become independent, then release it. Yet for some unknown reason—perhaps a habit—Yue Tingxi unconsciously became the girl Qingwu cared about most among all spirits.
Now, due to the lingering attachment from past events, the bond of “mother and daughter” had quietly and firmly formed between them. Over the years, Qingwu had accumulated quite a bit of resources and decided to give them all to the still young Yue Tingxi.
Thus, in just ten years, Yue Tingxi underwent her human tribulation. Another ten years later, her cultivation had advanced to the Nascent Soul stage.
“You promised to let your daughter rest properly,” Xie Zhi couldn’t help but tease.
“But she has nothing else to do now, and she enjoys cultivating. Since she is so absorbed, time shouldn’t be wasted,” Qingwu explained earnestly.
Yue Tingxi cultivated voluntarily, likely influenced by having Luo Yanzha, who was equally obsessed with cultivation, by her side.
Years earlier, after giving birth, Luo Yanzha’s mother had come to Xishan once she recovered, and now had settled there. Everyone loved her signature stir-fried noodles.
Originally, Luo Yanzha had a mixed spiritual root. Out of old affection, Chuiyin brought her numerous spirit-cleansing pills and herbal baths made from rare medicinal ingredients, also taking her and Chanying as apprentices, teaching them carefully at Xishan to solidify their foundations while they were still young.
In the third decade, news came from Kongming Manor: Lan Kongming had given birth to a pair of twins, and both the mother and daughters were safe.
When Qingwu regained her memories and heard “twins,” she couldn’t sit still. She was about to rush alone to Kongming Manor, but as she stepped onto the sword platform, a familiar voice called from behind.
“Can I go?” Yue Tingxi asked, catching up.
Without a second thought, Qingwu took her by the hand and boarded the white jade flying boat. Only after flying some distance did she ask, “Why do you want to go?”
“I just feel like something is waiting for me…” Yue Tingxi admitted uncertainly. “Honestly, every time I hear about the manor and Senior Lan Kongming, I get this strange feeling.”
“What kind of strange feeling?”
“Excitement? Joy? Worry?” Yue Tingxi tried to summarize her emotions. “It feels like I’ve been waiting for a very long time and have also been anticipating it for the same long time. But from my birth until now, I’ve only been around thirty years old, right?!”
“Have you recalled any strange images or voices?” Qingwu pressed.
“No… Mother, you don’t need to worry too much! Maybe it’s just the heat playing tricks on me,” Yue Tingxi quickly added.
It seemed she hadn’t reached the stage of memory restoration yet.
Mother and daughter arrived outside Lan Kongming’s bedchamber. Qin Xingzhi was there, coaxing young spirits and children, trying to keep them from disturbing their wives and daughters at rest.
In another segment of Qingwu’s memory, Qin Xingzhi had passed away early. She had only met him a few times when Qin Suoliu was still “Azi.”
Seeing him now, she subconsciously scrutinized his soul, confirming its purity, before leading the anxious and curious youngsters away.
“Sorry, Ah Lan is too weak. Even if you want to visit, it’s better to come another day…” Qin Xingzhi said but still opened the bedroom door, leading Yue Tingxi to the bedside of his wife before standing guard at the door.
“I didn’t expect you to come too,” Lan Kongming smiled at Yue Tingxi and lifted the cover beside her, revealing two soundly sleeping daughters. “These are Yin Guang and Suoliu.”
Seeing the two wrinkled little ones, Yue Tingxi felt nothing at first. But upon hearing their names, a sudden ringing filled her ears.
Unsure why this happened, she quickly set down the gifts and remedies she had brought, politely apologized to Lan Kongming, and left hurriedly.
As she walked through the manor, she overheard people discussing the newborn sisters: Qin Yin Guang had been born slightly earlier and was the elder, while Qin Suoliu followed a minute later, the younger.
That strange feeling returned again.
Yue Tingxi didn’t even know whether to explain it to Qingwu, as she herself had not figured out its origin. When confronted with unsolvable confusion, she usually set it aside and occupied herself with other matters.
Both Qingwu and Xie Zhi had mentioned that for now, she only needed to focus on cultivation and relaxation. So she returned to Xishan and decided to attempt to understand the cause through secluded contemplation.
Her secluded cultivation lasted six years, yielding nothing but advancement in her cultivation level.
Even Qingwu couldn’t bear to watch anymore. “Go out and take a walk. Don’t always stay cooped up in the cave.”
After much consideration, Yue Tingxi decided to visit Kongming Manor.
Outside the training ground, she encountered a young girl.
The little girl wore a striking purple dress and carried a pair of small wooden swords on her back, resting her chin on her hands as she watched the training inside with envy.
Yue Tingxi released her spiritual perception to scan and saw the disciples sparring.
Even with the miniature ice-ring arena, real-world sparring outside the illusion was an occasional but necessary exercise.
She sat beside the little girl and asked, “Do you want to fight too?”
“Hmm, but Father said I’m still too young. I can only fight in the ice-ring,” the purple-clad girl replied unhappily.
Yue Tingxi thought for a moment. “I know a place where your father can’t find you. He wouldn’t be able to stop us from sparring there.”
“Are you going to fight me?!” The girl immediately stood up, her eyes sparkling, her previous sulky expression gone.
To fully amuse the child, Yue Tingxi transformed into her giant snake form, suitable as a mount, and let the girl climb on. Then they went to the outskirts of the manor’s restricted area.
The place was quiet and spacious, though cold. A barrier blocked the entrance, preventing ordinary disciples and even elders from entering, though Yue Tingxi had once stumbled in by mistake.
For fairness, Yue Tingxi also transformed her human form into a child, lowering her cultivation level to match the girl’s at the early Golden Core stage.
“Xishan, Yue Tingxi,” she reported her name after selecting her weapons.
“Kongming Manor, Qin Suoliu,” the girl replied.
The child’s voice, slightly immature, flashed like a weak lightning bolt through Yue Tingxi’s mind.
—She must have heard Qin Suoliu’s voice somewhere before, at some point.
But she truly couldn’t remember, and Qin Suoliu didn’t give her time to recall.
With alternating attacks of fiery lightning wooden twin blades, the girl immediately struck with entangling moves.
Yue Tingxi lost focus, unable to dodge in time. She instinctively raised her hand, and her water spiritual power quickly condensed into a long whip.
With a splash of water, the whip caught the twin blades, effortlessly neutralizing all their force.
