Wagging My Tail in the Ice Queen CEO’s Embrace - Chapter 89
After speaking, Ming Ying looked at Fu Anyu with a sincere expression.
Yet, she caught a fleeting glimpse of confusion in Fu Anyu’s eyes.
Ming Ying blinked in bewilderment, wondering if she had been too bold. What if she left a bad impression on Fu Anyu?
But before she could take back her words, Fu Anyu turned slightly and reached out to gently pinch her cheek, making Ming Ying let out a soft “eep.”
“How do you want to eat me?” Fu Anyu asked.
“You guess,” Ming Ying pressed on, steeling herself.
Fu Anyu then rested the finger that had been pinching her cheek on the other side of her face, leaned in, and looked at her with keen interest, not a trace of confusion remained in her eyes.
Meeting her gaze, Ming Ying inexplicably felt a hint of danger, but she still put on a fearless expression and stared back without flinching.
She suddenly felt grateful that they were outdoors. Aside from kissing, Fu Anyu couldn’t do much to her here.
“It seems you’ve forgotten what I said yesterday while hiking,” Fu Anyu suddenly remarked.
Ming Ying: ?
Now it was her turn to be confused. She instinctively tried to recall whether anything had happened between them on the mountain trail the day before.
There had been something, and she had been the one to initiate it.
While Fu Anyu was carrying her on her back, she had secretly let her fox ears out and brushed them against the nape of Fu Anyu’s neck. Then, when Fu Anyu set her down, she had nibbled on her earlobe.
Had Fu Anyu said anything at the time?
It seemed she had.
She had said, “Just you wait.”
Back then, Ming Ying hadn’t understood what Fu Anyu meant by “just you wait.”
But now, as she locked eyes with Fu Anyu, it suddenly dawned on her. Her fox ears drooped, and she took half a step back.
The ascetic Taoist had broken her vows and was about to devour the little fox. How laughable that the little fox, still naive and unaware, thought of herself as the hunter, not realizing she had long become the prey!
When Fu Anyu took half a step forward, Ming Ying even flinched in fear. Then, she felt a finger tracing the outline of her folded fox ears.
“A little fox who gets scared so easily wants to eat me?” Fu Anyu asked with a laugh, her tone full of doubt.
Thinking back on her own reactions, Ming Ying immediately frowned, trying hard to perk up her ears. She grabbed Fu Anyu’s hand, moved it away from her face, opened her mouth, and gave a light bite on the side of her palm before letting go.
“Tastes bad, bleh,” she said, shaking off Fu Anyu’s hand and standing firm, flashing an innocent and harmless smile.
Fu Anyu glanced down at the small mark on the back of her hand, then looked back at the little fox, feeling that she resembled a certain meme:
What bad intentions could a little fox possibly have.jpg
In reality, she knew the little fox had plenty of mischievous ideas, it was just that she was easily frightened and would then rely on acting cute to “get away with it.”
But since this was the little fox’s way of saving face for her own mischief, Fu Anyu decided to play along and didn’t press further. She unlocked her phone and handed it to Ming Ying, saying, “Take a look at what you’d like for lunch.”
The moment Ming Ying took the phone, it belatedly dawned on her that Fu Anyu had simply been asking her normally what she wanted to eat. How had she ended up replying with “I want to eat you”?!!
She immediately understood where that hint of confusion in Fu Anyu’s eyes had come from and was filled with regret, wishing she could dig a hole right then, jump in, and bury herself.
She couldn’t help but recall a line often used in domineering CEO novels: Woman, you’re playing with fire.
Fortunately, Fu Anyu was a decent person. If it were some beast, they would definitely take this chance to have their way with her!
Forcing herself not to dwell on it, Ming Ying focused her attention on the food delivery app’s page.
“What about you?” She looked at Fu Anyu, trying to keep her tone natural. “Do you have any ideas?”
She deliberately avoided asking, “What do you want to eat?”
Fu Anyu instinctively wanted to reply, “No, it’s up to you,” but the words changed before they left her mouth: “I feel like having soup noodles.”
“Then why not go back and have Xiao Du cook for you?” Ming Ying asked in surprise. “I feel like the food from outside shops is nowhere near as good as Xiao Du’s cooking. Only hotpot is passable. Oh, right, are you waiting for Xiao Chen to drive over?”
When they went to the back mountain, Du Yunxin and Chen Yanxue had already left the temple. It was unclear whether they went home or went out to enjoy some couple time.
Fu Anyu raised an eyebrow slightly, reminding her, “But when you were eating breakfast, you said you wanted to hold hands and stroll around the streets with me.”
That was why she had asked the little fox where to have lunch, but it seemed the little fox hadn’t quite grasped her meaning.
Ming Ying froze for a moment, then lowered her head to continue scrolling through her phone, silently opening hotpot restaurants one by one and somewhat clumsily checking their ratings and reviews.
“Let’s go with hotpot, then. This one even has fish slices.” After a quick browse, Ming Ying handed the phone back to Fu Anyu. “I’m kind of craving fish.”
Before Du Yunxin left, she had brought a bucket of fish and put it in the car, saying that Hu Xiuliu, at Fu Anyu’s request, had specifically caught them for her third sister.
Ming Ying naturally wouldn’t compete with her recuperating third sister for food. She planned to leave all the fresh fish for her third sister to nourish her body, while she satisfied her own cravings outside.
Fu Anyu took the phone, skimmed through the details, and made a reservation.
“This place is really popular. Even with a reservation, you have to queue online until a table opens up,” she explained to Ming Ying. “Let’s go shopping near the restaurant first and head in when it’s our turn.”
“Okay, I’ll just follow you.” Ming Ying clasped her hands behind her back and wagged her tail.
She then looked down at the dress she was wearing, an orange maxi dress that Fu Anyu had specially commissioned to be tailored to her measurements, designed to accommodate her tail freely.
“Does this outfit suit me?” she asked Fu Anyu, looking up. “Should we go home first to change, and then,”
“It’s fine. I didn’t change either.” Fu Anyu shook her head, though her eyes swept over the little fox from head to toe. “This looks great on you.”
The little fox’s beauty was flawless, though she still seemed a bit young.
Fu Anyu wasn’t sure how the age of a nine-tailed great demon was calculated, but in her eyes, Ming Ying looked to be in her early twenties at most. That was why she had all the little fox’s clothes custom-made in styles suited for college students, mostly in warm colors to highlight her innocence, cuteness, and vitality.
If she were to dress the little fox in some haute couture evening gown, Fu Anyu would feel like she was a child playing dress-up in adult clothes.
Ming Ying let out a soft “Mm.” “I just thought, since it’s our first time going on a shopping date, we should leave each other with some memorable impressions. And clothes are probably the simplest surface impression.”
“My date is an adorable little fox,” Fu Anyu continued. “That covers both the inner and outer impressions.”
“But I can’t reveal my true demon form.” Ming Ying pouted slightly. “You can’t possibly carry my demon body around while shopping. Even though humans keep pet foxes, I don’t want to be mistaken for a pet.”
Fu Anyu chuckled. “No matter what form you take, your essence remains the same to me.”
Ming Ying froze for a second, then blushed and turned away, murmuring quietly, “You always say I’m cute, but you don’t know how wicked I truly am.”
“Is that so?” Fu Anyu pulled her closer. “I’ve never noticed you being a bad girl.”
“Later… later you’ll discover that not only am I a bad girl, but I also… I also constantly imagine doing all sorts of things with you!” Ming Ying leaned against her chest and waved a small fist.
She heard Fu Anyu laugh, her voice tinged with affection. “I look forward to seeing your wicked side.”
Ming Ying wanted to as well, but she still didn’t dare.
Perhaps when their relationship reached that stage, it would be Fu Anyu who turned wicked, and she would be the one subjected to all sorts of treatments.
Chen Yanxue soon arrived with the car and drove the pair toward the commercial district in the city center.
During the ride, Ming Ying channeled all her spiritual energy into the spirit-control device and tidied her wind-tousled hair. The hair accessory-shaped device swayed with her movements, its bell emitting clear, pleasant chimes.
She gazed out the window, noticing the increasing number of pedestrians, feeling a strange sensation of returning to the mortal world from seclusion.
“If only Xiao Du could come too,” she suddenly lamented. “Then we’d have someone to take photos of us while we shop.”
“Can’t I do it?” Chen Yanxue interjected.
Ming Ying sighed and shook her head. “No, Xiao Du said you can’t capture the dreamy vibe between couples.”
She hadn’t forgotten Du Yunxin’s complaint: although Xiao Chen was skilled in photography and had won numerous awards, she only excelled at capturing objects and scenery. The moment she photographed people, her composition became bizarre, and this issue remained unresolved.
Ming Ying knew nothing about photography, but she understood they couldn’t let Xiao Chen take their pictures.
Oh well, today was their first date, what could be more important than having time alone together? They could save the photos for next time and keep the anticipation alive.
Finishing her internal monologue, Ming Ying noticed Chen Yanxue parking by the roadside. She quickly checked her demon form and glanced at Fu Anyu.
Fu Anyu nodded. “We’re good. Let’s get out.”
The car door on her side opened automatically. Ming Ying lifted her skirt and followed her out.
This was Ming Ying’s first time walking on the street in human form.
Holding Fu Anyu’s hand, she turned and waved to Chen Yanxue. As she turned back, she suddenly felt multiple gazes fixated on her, and her recently relaxed mood tensed up again.
There were clearly no ShengWei Group employees around, they were all still at the team-building event, so why were so many people staring?
Could it be, they had discovered she wasn’t human?
But as she scanned the surroundings, everyone casting glances their way were genuine ordinary people; she couldn’t detect even a trace of spiritual energy from them.
“Do people on the street recognize you?” Ming Ying whispered to Fu Anyu.
“Possibly,” Fu Anyu replied softly, also aware of the stares. “I’ve been on a few programs; maybe some remember me.”
“I doubt it,” Ming Ying said. “You’re not some big celebrity, just a CEO in the finance industry. Why would you attract so much attention?”
Fu Anyu led her along for a while, and she truly felt they were being watched by passersby the entire way.
“Maybe it’s because you’re good-looking,” Fu Anyu suddenly said.
Ming Ying: ?
“I know you want to compliment me, but could you not do it so awkwardly?” she whispered.
