Wagging My Tail in the Ice Queen CEO’s Embrace - Chapter 78
Fu Anyu understood that she no longer had any reason to reject the little fox.
Previously, she could still use the excuse that the little fox would eventually return home to suppress her feelings. But now, the little fox had nowhere to go and could only stay by her side.
Fu Anyu thought, if even confessing to the one she loved ended in rejection, how heartbroken the little fox would be.
So, she said, “Alright.”
Then, she heard the little fox let out two muffled whimpers through gritted teeth, followed by a slight shaking of the entire bed.
The little fox was rolling around, probably too excited.
Fu Anyu felt a bit at a loss. She had never been in love before. Even though she had dared to write those domineering CEO novels five years ago, she knew the difference between fiction and reality.
Faced with an overjoyed lover, how should she react?
For a moment, Fu Anyu even considered opening her phone to message Hu Xiuliu. After all, that Taoist was not only gay but also wrote about gay relationships and claimed to have studied them.
But then she thought, both of them were single and equally inexperienced, having only experienced love through words. There was really nothing to ask.
Now, she only felt as if a tiny sprout had emerged in her heart, itching as if gently brushed by the little fox, making her feel both relaxed and comfortable. Her breathing was a bit rapid, but aside from that, everything was fine.
After a moment’s thought, she decided to act as usual and pulled the rolling little fox into her arms, letting her rest against her chest.
But there were still two layers of blankets between them. No matter how tightly she held her, it didn’t feel like intimate contact.
So, Fu Anyu simply pulled away the little fox’s blanket, letting the warm little body curl up in her embrace, and wrapped her own blanket around them both.
And then? What should she do next? Take it further?
Fu Anyu’s mind remained calm, but her heartbeat grew faster and faster. Her flushed face made her somewhat uncomfortable, yet she felt it would be impolite to push the little fox away now.
She had intended to say, “It’s late, let’s sleep,” but then she remembered that both of them were cultivators with spiritual power. Even if they stayed up all night, they could rely on their spiritual energy to maintain their vigor and stamina. So, she closed her mouth and gently kissed the little fox’s forehead.
She felt the little fox’s forehead was burning hot, and so was her entire body, as if she had a fever from a cold.
Ming Ying was so blissful she felt as if she had ascended to paradise. She had indeed prepared herself for rejection, but she never expected Fu Anyu not only to accept her but also to take the initiative to remove the bothersome blanket and even kiss her.
Even if it was just a kiss on the forehead, in her eyes, it still counted. It wasn’t a big deal. She didn’t quite understand why humans thought only lip-to-lip contact counted as a kiss, though touching lips did give her a tingling sensation as well.
She remained dazed for a long time before realizing she should respond. So, she lifted her head, cupped Fu Anyu’s face, and planted a kiss on her cheek.
Ming Ying was excited, and her tails naturally couldn’t stay still, one by one, they wrapped around Fu Anyu.
“No absorbing my spiritual power tonight,” Fu Anyu suddenly said.
Before Ming Ying could respond, she felt her tails being stroked, startling her into retracting them. But before she could tuck them behind her, all four tails were caught by Fu Anyu, who proceeded to stroke them one by one.
“Mischievous,” Fu Anyu whispered against her fox ear. After saying this, she recaptured the tails that tried to escape, wrapped them around her arm, and stroked them even more enthusiastically.
The strange dreams from past nights suddenly surfaced in Ming Ying’s mind.
She always dreamed of being pinned in Fu Anyu’s embrace, then having all nine of her tails thoroughly stroked by Fu Anyu.
Now, though she only had four tails, the dream’s content had come true ahead of time.
Ming Ying thought she was done for tonight. Fu Anyu clearly fit the archetype of someone who forcibly repressed their desires, once those self-imposed restraints were lifted, she would surely treat her like the male lead in The Ice-Queen CEO’s Fierce Love, employing all sorts of methods meant for a delicate, beloved wife.
Yet, Fu Anyu merely stroked her tails, gently nibbled the tips of her ears, then softly whispered “goodnight” to her. Even while continuing to hold her tightly, she didn’t do anything more.
Fu Anyu held her just as she usually did, perfectly ordinary and normal, and prepared to sleep.
Ming Ying breathed a sigh of relief, though she couldn’t help feeling a twinge of disappointment.
Even though she had no experience in that sort of thing, she was willing to learn and cooperate with Fu Anyu.
Ah, what was she thinking? Fu Anyu had no experience in that area either. Even if they truly wanted something to happen, it was far too early. She shouldn’t make things difficult for Fu Anyu.
Ming Ying tried to reason with herself. After a while of internal debate, she noticed Fu Anyu’s heartbeat was still racing, she probably wasn’t asleep either, so she reached out to tease her chin and stir up some trouble.
“Not sleeping?” Fu Anyu caught her hand, tucked it back under the covers, then pinched Ming Ying’s chin in return. “Think this is fun?”
The gesture startled Ming Ying. Thinking Fu Anyu was about to lean in and press their lips together, she instinctively covered her mouth, her voice muffled against her palm. “I’ll sleep, I’ll sleep!”
With that, she obediently closed her eyes and stopped causing trouble.
Or rather, she didn’t dare cause any more trouble.
She had no idea that Fu Anyu’s earlier domineering and calm demeanor had all been an act. The utterly inexperienced CEO had ultimately succumbed to the influence of the novel she wrote years ago, even briefly imitating that ice-queen CEO.
Only, her imitation fell far short, that CEO was wilder and more slick, qualities she couldn’t quite replicate.
After the little fox fell asleep in her arms, Fu Anyu thought for a while and decided to revisit her old work, hoping to find some inspiration for practical application. She wanted to satisfy the little fox without making herself seem too out of character.
She needed to carefully review what on earth had been going through her mind five years ago.
The next morning, Ming Ying was the first to wake.
Perhaps because she had been “intimidated” by Fu Anyu the night before, her tails lay obediently behind her, each one perfectly well-behaved.
Ming ying glanced at Fu Anyu and, recalling her own conclusions about romance from watching anime and dramas, decided that a good morning kiss was in order. So, she leaned in and pressed her lips lightly against Fu Anyu’s.
They were soft and slightly cool, maybe from the air conditioning.
Out of curiosity, Ming Ying pressed her lips a few more times until she heard a soft, sharp intake of breath. Only then did she pull back, nervously watching Fu Anyu.
Fu Anyu never expected the little fox to be so bold, daring to steal a kiss so early in the morning!
But she wasn’t that bold herself. Noticing the little fox’s innocent, wide-eyed expression, as if she genuinely had no idea what she was doing, Fu Anyu was ultimately held back by years of accumulated restraint. She simply ruffled the little fox’s head firmly, refraining from retaliating.
“Since you’re awake, go wash up.” She tried hard to keep her voice from sounding too stiff. “Get ready, it’s time for breakfast.”
Ming Ying noticed her awkwardness and felt too embarrassed to try anything further. Releasing her, she slipped out of bed and hurried into the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth.
Fu Anyu turned her back, pressing the back of her hand to her lips, feeling as though she were the one dreaming now.
She still remembered when she had first brought the little fox home, how they had disliked each other on sight. The fox would snarl at her, and she had thought the fox was nothing but trouble. Who would have guessed they would end up like this?
Since they would be taking a long bus ride later, Du Yunxin, worried the little fox might get carsick, had deliberately prepared a light breakfast.
When Ming Ying came downstairs and saw the spread completely devoid of any meat, her whole fox self-froze in disbelief.
Noticing her standing dumbfounded on the steps, Fu Anyu glanced at the food, then took her hand and led her down. “The mountain resort has barbecue, hot pot, spicy soup, and plenty of hygienically farmed wild delicacies,” she reassured. “It’s fine to make do with a simple breakfast.”
“But I don’t get carsick.” Ming Ying felt like crying.
Fu Anyu shook her head. “You’ve never been on a long-distance bus ride before. The road to the resort is bumpy, even I feel uncomfortable on it.”
Ming Ying thought of how Fu Anyu often traveled for meetings and projects, sometimes spending six or seven hours on the road round-trip, and fell silent. She obediently sat down to eat.
Du Yunxin had also packed a suitcase. While they were eating, Chen Yanxue arrived by car, so Du Yunxin took all three suitcases out to load them up.
Ming Ying nibbled on a red bean bun, listening as Du Yunxin enthusiastically praised Chen Yanxue’s new outfit outside.
It seemed Du Yunxin had bought the clothes especially for Chen Yanxue, and she sounded pleased that Xiao Chen had chosen to wear them for the company outing.
After breakfast, the four of them set off. Before leaving, Fu Anyu took Ming Ying to inspect all the barrier and array formations set up around the villa.
“I always thought these barriers and arrays were meant to seal away some evil presence,” Ming Ying remarked during the check. “I never realized they were just for theft prevention.”
“Partly for theft, partly to ward off evil,” Fu Anyu explained. “Even though my aura keeps evil spirits from entering, if the plants and trees in the yard were affected, they wouldn’t bloom or bear fruit properly.”
Ming Ying frowned unhappily at the thought of the garden withering. Passing key barrier points, she reinforced them by drawing arrays with her own spiritual energy.
“With only four tails, you’re already as skilled as I am,” Fu Anyu observed sincerely after watching her work. “I can’t imagine how powerful you’ll be with nine tails.”
Ming Ying lowered her head shyly and hugged her arm.
“But I’ll always be your little fox.”
Fu Anyu patted her head. “Alright, little fox, it’s time to go.”
At nine in the morning, Shengwei Group’s charter bus departed on schedule, carrying everyone toward Linlan Mountain Resort in the suburbs.
In front of others, Ming Ying remembered to conceal her fox form. She sat in the front with Fu Anyu, curiously touching the black plastic bags hanging on the seats.
“What are these for?” she asked.
“For passengers who get carsick,” Fu Anyu replied. “There’s a particularly rough stretch of road, most people feel sick there.”
Ming Ying nodded and turned to look at Hu Xiuliu and Li Lingmao, who were sitting not far away, dressed in Taoist robes.
“Why are they here too?” she asked in confusion. “Isn’t today Shengwei Group’s internal team-building event?”
“When we located the entrance to the demon realm earlier, we reserved spots for them just in case and agreed they’d follow the bus,” Fu Anyu explained quietly. “We originally planned to cancel, but Hu Xiuliu said he wanted to bring his cat along to soak in the hot springs and cultivate, so we kept their spots.”
She had been in a good mood these past couple of days and didn’t mind giving a little boost to the “good brother” who had taken care of her since childhood.
