Wagging My Tail in the Ice Queen CEO’s Embrace - Chapter 44
After hearing the conversation between the two inside the room, Fu Anyu couldn’t help but curl the corners of her lips. However, she neither pushed the door open nor left. Instead, she stood quietly by the doorway, attentively observing every movement within.
Ming Ying’s senses were far sharper than Du Yunxin’s. The moment Fu Anyu approached, she noticed and immediately stopped what she was doing, casting a wary glance toward the door.
“What’s wrong?” Du Yunxin also paused mid-sentence and followed her gaze.
“Sister might be awake,” Ming Ying whispered softly. “She’s probably right outside the door…”
Du Yunxin instantly panicked. After all, she had just been encouraging the little fox to try on Fu Anyu’s old dresses, and she had done so quite loudly, practically conspiring right under her boss’s nose!
The two conspirators exchanged a glance, then looked at the pile of clothes scattered messily on the bed. Realizing there was no hiding today’s events from Fu Anyu, they decided to come clean. Once they had mentally prepared themselves, they opened the door and bowed in unison to Fu Anyu standing outside. “We’re sorry, President Fu!”
“…” Fu Anyu shot a glance at Du Yunxin, the instigator, before turning to Ming Ying and ruffling her hair. “She’s my assistant. Why are you calling me ‘President Fu’ too?”
“Sorry, Sister!” Ming Ying immediately corrected herself, her four tails obediently drooping in response.
Although Fu Anyu was still in a weakened state, from the moment she stepped into the room, Du Yunxin felt as if the entire space was enveloped in the aura of an ice-queen CEO.
As Fu Anyu’s gaze shifted toward the bed, both she and Ming Ying instinctively stepped aside, ready to face the CEO’s inspection.
“Trying on clothes for Ming Ying?” Fu Anyu picked up the clothes and dresses haphazardly strewn across the bed, holding one up to size Ming Ying visually. “Do you like wearing casual clothes with a touch of classical elements, Ming Ying?”
Though Ming Ying didn’t quite understand what “classical elements” meant, she really liked the dress in Fu Anyu’s hand and quickly nodded.
“Take her measurements,” Fu Anyu said to Du Yunxin as she set the clothes down. “Have them made at the tailor shop I usually go to. There’s no need to keep trying on old clothes.”
“Huh? Okay!” The sudden shift caught Du Yunxin off guard, but once she processed it, she was nothing but excited. After happily responding, she immediately dashed out of the guest room to find a measuring tape, eager to avoid being held accountable for corrupting the little fox.
With Du Yunxin gone, only Ming Ying and Fu Anyu remained in the room.
Ming Ying nervously fiddled with the bow on the bandage around her right hand, cautiously watching Fu Anyu. Her heart pounded anxiously, afraid that she would be reprimanded.
“Aren’t you bothered by the smell?” Fu Anyu glanced at the clothes on the bed. “These are clothes I wore when I was younger. They’ve been stored for at least two or three years. Although they’re occasionally taken out to be washed and aired, the closet has mothballs in it. Over time, the clothes have absorbed the scent.”
“So that smell is called ‘mothballs’?” Ming Ying asked, dazed. She actually found the scent quite pleasant, though a bit pungent.
Fu Anyu nodded. “They’re used to prevent insects and moths. Most closets that aren’t opened often have them.”
“I don’t mind it,” Ming Ying shook her head, sensing that Fu Anyu’s aura was no longer icy. She picked up a sleeveless red-collared top and tentatively asked, “Actually, I really like this one. Can I wear it at home?”
Fu Anyu glanced at the small jacket, then suddenly walked to the wardrobe and retrieved two separate sleeves with red strings, a red hair ribbon, and a short crimson skirt that matched the pattern of the red collar.
“This is a complete set, all for you,” she said, placing the newly retrieved clothes beside Ming Ying. “Have Xiao Du wash them for you before you wear them.”
“Okay!” Ming Ying wagged her tail happily and carefully folded the small jacket together with the other clothes.
Just as Du Yunxin returned with the measuring tape, she nearly got smacked in the face by the joyfully swaying fox tail.
Startled by the room’s atmosphere, which had thawed like melting ice, she maneuvered around the tail to take Ming Ying’s measurements, all the while thinking, “Finally, someone can handle President Fu.”
Ming Ying obediently followed her instructions, raising her arms and straightening her back while curiously watching the measuring tape stretch from one end of her body to the other.
The most challenging part of making clothes for a yao was the tail. As an ordinary human, Du Yunxin had no experience measuring a yao’s hip circumference, and she had no idea how to do it without touching Ming Ying’s tail. When it came time to measure that area, she immediately wore an awkward expression.
“President Fu, I don’t know how to measure this part,” she admitted before Fu Anyu could even ask.
“Just measure the leg length, that’ll be enough,” Fu Anyu also noticed the issue and didn’t press her. “Leave the measuring tape here.”
Du Yunxin felt that staying any longer would only mean enduring their affectionate display. She quickly finished measuring the leg length, recorded it, set down the tape, and left, closing the door behind her. As she walked away, she sent all the other recorded measurements to Fu Anyu.
Fu Anyu picked up the measuring tape and motioned for Ming Ying to come closer.
“I’ll measure your hip circumference,” she said. “It might touch your tail.”
Ming Ying shivered at the words, her cheeks instantly burning hot. Her fox ears drooped involuntarily, and that dizzy, flustered feeling from before returned.
“Can we not measure it?” she whispered pleadingly.
“If we don’t, you’ll have to retract all your tails to wear the skirts you like,” Fu Anyu explained. “Think carefully: do you want clothes you can wear with your tails out, or clothes that require you to retract your tails?”
Ming Ying was used to keeping all her tails out. Even having to retract just one tail would make her unhappy. Hearing this, she fell silent, wrestling with her thoughts for a long time before finally withdrawing all the spiritual energy forming her tails into the spirit-control device. Hanging her head, she murmured, “Go ahead and measure.”
Fu Anyu unfurled the measuring tape, instructing her to raise her arms slightly, and pressed one end against her side with her thumb.
She heard the little fox let out a soft “Mmm,” then felt her body trembling slightly.
“Relax,” Fu Anyu said. “I’m just wrapping the tape around. My hand won’t touch you there.”
“I… I know.” Ming Ying felt her face burning even hotter, her voice muffled.
She felt the measuring tape wrap around her lower abdomen, pause briefly, and then be retracted by Fu Anyu.
“Done,” Fu Anyu said, picking up her phone to add the newly measured data to the document Du Yunxin had sent.
Ming Ying’s face was so hot she could barely stand steady. Just as she muttered a “Thank you,” she plopped down onto the bed with a soft thud.
Hearing the noise, Fu Anyu immediately looked over. Seeing Ming Ying covering her face with her hands and emitting faint, muffled whimpers into her palms, she hurried over and gently moved her hands aside. Noticing Ming Ying’s flushed face and evasive gaze, she instantly understood.
“I’ll go get the ear thermometer.” To test her guess, Fu Anyu deliberately said this and even took a step toward the door.
Before she could take two steps, Ming Ying grabbed the hem of her clothes. “No need, no need! I don’t have a fever. It’s just, I’m… I’m just shy.”
Ming Ying didn’t understand what was happening to her. Du Yunxin had not only seen her without clothes but had even taken measurements near her chest, and she hadn’t felt this embarrassed. Why was it that when it came to Fu Anyu, she.
Before she could finish that thought, she suddenly remembered that when she first transformed into human form, she had been wearing a nightgown.
At the time, she hadn’t reacted much to it, but now, as she recalled it, she felt so embarrassed she wished she could bury her face in her tails and dig a hole to hide in.
A faint scent of jasmine suddenly wafted over her. Ming Ying looked up and met Fu Anyu’s gaze as she leaned down to look at her.
Her fox ears were already folded back, and under Fu Anyu’s intense stare, they pressed so flat they almost blended into her hair.
“Understood, my shy little princess.” Fu Anyu reached out and gently stroked the top of her head, carefully unfolding her folded fox ears.
Ming Ying hummed in acknowledgment. Seeing Fu Anyu turn as if to leave the room, she quickly stood up and asked, “How are you feeling now? Are you feeling a bit better?”
“I slept for quite a while, so I’ve recovered a lot,” Fu Anyu replied, turning back. “I’m planning to gather spiritual energy now.”
“Let me guard you!” Ming Ying hurried over. “I can also draw a spirit-gathering array. The effect of mine is, well, maybe a little better than yours.”
She wanted to be of some help to Fu Anyu. After all, Fu Anyu had become so weak and even missed a day of meetings all because she had absorbed her spiritual energy.
“Come on.” Fu Anyu didn’t refuse. After saying this, she turned and walked toward the bedroom without looking back.
Ming Ying followed closely behind. As soon as she entered the bedroom, she rushed ahead to the spot where Fu Anyu usually sat and began drawing a spirit-gathering array.
Since her body was now filled with abundant spiritual energy, the array she drew this time was far more advanced than the ones she had used before.
Fu Anyu sat nearby, watching the little fox kneel on the floor as she drew the array, gradually releasing her tails one by one from their tucked position.
After being teased by Du Yunxin about her “four-season outfits,” Ming Ying had dispelled the illusion spells on most of her fur-made clothing, including the socks that kept her feet warm. Now barefoot, her four tails spread out, covering her legs and feet, leaving only the tips of her toes exposed.
As the little fox focused intently on drawing the array, Fu Anyu stared at her tails for a long time, unable to resist imagining what it would be like when all nine tails were revealed.
“I’m done!” After another two minutes, Ming Ying withdrew the spiritual energy from her fingertips, moved aside, and smiled at Fu Anyu. “You can sit here and start gathering spiritual energy directly.”
Fu Anyu thanked her, but when she looked down, she noticed that the spot where the little fox had been sitting also had an array, while the space she had vacated contained a much larger one.
“Have you never seen this kind of spirit-gathering array before?” Ming Ying asked, sitting cross-legged. Seeing Fu Anyu hesitate and just stare at the array, she explained, “This array has one large and one small circle, allowing two people to gather spiritual energy together. However, the person sitting in the smaller array won’t enter a deep meditative state. If something unexpected happens to the person in the larger array, the other can immediately stop gathering energy and assist in stabilizing their power.”
To help Fu Anyu understand, she deliberately replaced all the terms with “human.”
“Didn’t I just say I’d protect you during your cultivation?” Ming Ying patted the large spirit-gathering array and said earnestly, “Using this spirit-gathering array for protection is very safe! I’ve often watched my father draw it for my mother, it’s absolutely foolproof!”
