Wagging My Tail in the Ice Queen CEO’s Embrace - Chapter 14
During the past few days by Fu Anyu’s side, Ming Ying had never caught the scent of any other demon race on her. Usually, there was only a faint fragrance of pinewood and a subtle hint of tobacco.
But now, she detected an unusually strong demonic aura, it seemed to be the scent of a cat demon, and a female one at that.
Ming Ying was fiercely possessive. Even though she knew Fu Anyu would have interactions with demons, as long as Fu Anyu remained her “caretaker,” she didn’t want Fu Anyu feeding other demons or carrying them around.
Fu Anyu was taken aback, watching the little fox with her fur puffed up, both amused and exasperated. Still, she patiently explained, “On the way back, I carried a cat.”
“You held her for a long time,” Ming Ying said, then immediately felt awkward, sensing an inexplicable hint of jealousy in her own words.
“Are you bothered by it?” Fu Anyu asked.
“I… I was just asking casually!” Ming Ying hadn’t expected her to ask that and hurriedly made excuses for her instinctive reaction.
Du Yunxin, standing nearby, struggled to hold back her laughter.
“Now that you’ve asked, let’s eat,” Fu Anyu said, taking off her coat and handing it to Du Yunxin. “The dry cleaner is still open. Go get this cleaned.”
After Du Yunxin left with the suit jacket, Fu Anyu crouched down in front of Ming Ying, gently stroking the still-raised fur on her back. Seeing the little fox’s wary eyes but no sign of disgust, she couldn’t help but feel a bit entertained.
Ming Ying felt uneasy under her touch and lowered her body slightly to avoid Fu Anyu’s hand, almost crawling back to the food with her belly to the ground. Only when she saw that Fu Anyu wasn’t following to pet her did she relax and start eating heartily.
After finishing her meal, she finally remembered she had a complaint to make and quickly said to Fu Anyu, “Xiao Du teased me today.”
“How did she tease you?” Fu Anyu asked.
“She baked cookies and had me taste them,” Ming Ying said, still angry at the memory. “But those cookies weren’t made for me! How could she do that?”
After hearing this, Fu Anyu simply smiled and even asked, “How did the cookies taste?”
“Not great!” Ming Ying huffed. “They weren’t as good as the bread slices you gave me.”
Fu Anyu thought for a moment before recalling that on the morning after she caught the little fox, she had indeed given her some freshly baked bread slices. She hadn’t expected the little fox to remember.
Seeing the amusement in Fu Anyu’s eyes, Ming Ying felt uncomfortable, sensing that the “bad woman” was in a good mood and didn’t seem to think the matter was worth getting upset about. After hesitating, she changed the subject: “Forget it, let’s not talk about her. What exactly did you do today? How… did you end up carrying a cat demon?”
Ming Ying regretted the question as soon as she asked it, thinking, how could I ask something like that? Is this something a captive should ask? Earlier, when Fu Anyu had just returned, she had instinctively asked about the scent, which was already improper.
Thinking this, Ming Ying grew frightened and retreated into her little nest, timidly watching Fu Anyu.
Fu Anyu had no idea about the wild thoughts running through her mind and simply answered the question: “I rescued her on the way.”
“What happened?” Seeing that Fu Anyu didn’t mind her rudeness, Ming Ying couldn’t help but press further.
The clothes that Xiao Du had taken away earlier carried only the demonic aura, with no scent of blood, meaning the rescued cat demon hadn’t been injured. If she wasn’t injured, why did Fu Anyu say she “rescued” her?
“She climbed onto the overpass and alerted the police,” Fu Anyu said.
After some learning, Ming Ying now roughly understood what “overpass” and “police” meant. She immediately pictured a cat demon crouched on the overpass, shivering amidst the flow of passing vehicles.
“How dare she go up there?” she said indignantly. “It’s too dangerous!”
“She broke up with a human girl and went there to attempt suicide,” Fu Anyu explained calmly.
Ming Ying was momentarily stunned. A female cat and a human girl together… weren’t that “a mirror-polishing love”?! Why could Fu Anyu state it so calmly?
After a few seconds of shock, she collected herself and asked, “That should count as ‘disrupting social order,’ right? So where did you take her?”
Somehow, she was worried that Fu Anyu might bring the cat demon back and lock her up together with her.
“The police station,” Fu Anyu said. “Where she goes after that depends entirely on the police.”
A thought suddenly occurred to Ming Ying, and she blurted out, “Why didn’t you send me to the police station?”
“You’re different,” Fu Anyu shook her head but didn’t elaborate, picking up the fox and heading to the bathroom.
“How am I different?” Ming Ying found it strange. “We’re both demons who disrupted social order!”
“I arrested you before the police got involved,” Fu Anyu explained. “So, I’m responsible for you.”
Ming Ying only half-understood, but when she heard Fu Anyu say “responsible for you” herself, she inexplicably felt a sense of relief.
No, no, how could she grow dependent on this bad woman!
Ming Ying quickly shook off the thought.
For the past two days, she had been lying in her little nest reading and watching TV, with significantly less physical activity. When Fu Anyu unwrapped the bandage on her leg in the bathroom, she almost forgot she was even injured.
“Does the wound still hurt recently?” Fu Anyu asked while examining it.
“It doesn’t seem to hurt anymore,” Ming Ying replied. She figured it was probably because gathering spiritual energy had given her a second tail. Each of her tails could store spiritual power, and although the wounds left by the evil demons were hard to heal, as long as she had enough spiritual power, the recovery speed would naturally increase.
Fu Anyu discarded the bandage, cleaned the residual medicine from the wound, and had her walk back and forth on the sink to confirm she really wasn’t in pain. Then, she filled the sink with water, adjusted the temperature, and placed the fox inside. “Try it.”
New flesh had just grown over the wound, so Ming Ying felt a bit uncomfortable when she first entered the water, but the discomfort quickly faded.
She paddled a little in the water, then rolled over, trying to immerse her entire body in the warm water.
However, the sink was simply too small. Both of her tails hung outside, making the soak rather uncomfortable.
Seeing this, Fu Anyu began filling the bathtub with water.
Just as Ming Ying had soaked her fur, Fu Anyu scooped her up and placed her into the slippery bathtub.
“Play by yourself for a while,” Fu Anyu said before leaving the bathroom. When she returned, she was carrying a waterproof bag with her pajamas and casually closed the door behind her.
Hearing the noise, Ming Ying instinctively looked up and happened to see Fu Anyu take off her shirt and hang it nearby, revealing her snow-white skin in full view.
Just as Fu Anyu was about to slip the strap off her shoulder, she heard the little fox scream from behind. Thinking she had bumped into something, Fu Anyu hurried to the bathtub and leaned over to ask, “What’s wrong?”
“You… you… how dare you act like this in front of an outsider?!” Ming Ying hadn’t expected her to come over and was so frightened that she buried her face in her wet tail, her voice muffled as it emerged.
“Act like what?” Fu Anyu didn’t understand.
“Your… your clothes!” Ming Ying felt her face heating up again. “How can you wear something so shameless…”
“We’re both women,” Fu Anyu reminded her.
Ming Ying choked up.
She minded, but she didn’t dare tell Fu Anyu. In her memory, if any clansmen dared to remove their clothes without restraint in front of outsiders, they would surely be punished, regardless of gender.
Noticing her embarrassment, Fu Anyu pulled shut the bathtub curtain that had never been used before.
Ming Ying lay dizzily in the water. Even though her view was blocked and she could no longer see Fu Anyu, the image of the other’s body still swayed before her eyes.
That wicked woman’s skin… was so fair it would make even a demon jealous, smooth and flawless. Her figure was among the finest in the entire fox clan.
Wait, why was she even thinking about this?!
Hearing the sound of water outside, Ming Ying submerged her face in the water to cool down, but the water was warm too and didn’t help. So, she released her spiritual power to turn on the faucet, splashing cold water on her face.
The cold water made her shiver, and she trembled involuntarily, but her mind did clear up considerably.
Calming down, Ming Ying listened to the water sounds from behind the curtain and thought to herself that she indeed had much to learn. The customs and practices of the human realm were vastly different from those of the demon realm. Before leaving the human realm, she needed to adapt quickly. Otherwise, being so easily startled wouldn’t be good for her.
After the water sounds stopped, a while later, the curtain was pulled open. Fu Anyu lifted the fox out of the bathtub and, as usual, wrapped her in a dry towel to dry her off.
Ming Ying noticed that the collar of her pajamas was cut quite low and immediately felt uncomfortable again. Planning to leave the bedroom early, she quietly used her spiritual power to cast a spell, and soon, all the water left on her fur evaporated.
Noticing that the fox’s fur dried particularly quickly today, Fu Anyu reached out and gently ruffled it, confirming it was the little fox’s doing. Deciding to be a bit lazy, she stopped drying her and simply carried the fox out of the bathroom, “dumping” her onto the dog bed.
Ming Ying breathed a sigh of relief, shook her tail, and used her magic to evaporate the tiny water droplets. She then curled her tail around the tablet, pulling it toward herself, and was about to continue reading when she caught Fu Anyu approaching out of the corner of her eye. Her perked-up ears drooped again.
Fu Anyu picked up a cushion and sat down beside her, asking, “Don’t you like me wearing pajamas?”
Ming Ying glanced at her, thinking, these aren’t pajamas, they’re the kind of undergarments worn by couples on their wedding night for, certain activities.
But she replied very politely and tactfully, “It’s not that I don’t like it, I’m just not used to it.”
“In the human realm, many women wear clothes like this, regardless of the season,” Fu Anyu said. “You must have seen it while watching TV.”
Ming Ying thought about it and realized it was true, so she nodded. However, she also remembered that every time she accidentally saw those scantily clad women, she would be so startled that she immediately changed the channel.
“In the eyes of modern humans, such attire is ordinary and common, not ‘shameless,'” Fu Anyu continued. “If you want to try it, you can buy clothes like this after you take human form.”
“No, no!” Ming Ying immediately refused, then felt she had been too abrupt and quickly added, “Let me get used to it first, there’s no rush.”
Fu Anyu nodded but showed no intention of leaving. Instead, she leaned comfortably against the bed, took out her phone to scroll through Weibo, and began browsing the news on her own.
The moment she sat down beside her, Ming Ying couldn’t help but glance downward, unable to focus on her book Fu Anyu’s nightgown, much like her bathrobe, only reached her knees.
She stared, mesmerized, for a while before suddenly snapping back to reality, startled by her own behavior.
If the “shameless” woman’s attire was considered indecent, then what did it make her, knowingly staring at her like that?!
