Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 54.2
Su Jing’s lips twitched as if he wanted to speak, but his mouth was so swollen it was practically sealed shut. Any attempt to open it only made him gasp in pain.
Jiang Chi carefully tried to help him up, but after several attempts, she failed each time.
Just as the controlled version of her finally realized she could call for help, a voice suddenly rang out above her: “I thought I was seeing things, but it really is the infamous Simp Master.”
From the first word, Jiang Chi knew who it was. Turning around, sure enough, Ji Mei stood behind her with arms crossed, looking haughty, accompanied by a timid-looking girl probably her assistant.
Jiang Chi stood up, sticking to her pre-awakening rich-girl persona, and fired back: “What? Wen Wen didn’t even give you the chance to be a simp, so you’re throwing a tantrum? If you’re jealous, just say it. No need to hide behind that ugly face of yours.”
Wen Wen? This was the first time Ji Mei had heard Jiang Chi refer to Wen Wen by her full name. Before, it was always “sister this” and “sister that,” spoken with intimate affection.
This caught Ji Mei off guard. After processing Jiang Chi’s words, her expression darkened, but she didn’t press the issue. Instead, she glanced at the figure on the ground, studied him for a moment, and exclaimed in surprise, “Wait, is that Su Jing?”
Jiang Chi ignored her and tried again to move Su Jing, but he didn’t budge.
Damn pig! Jiang Chi cursed inwardly.
Ji Mei made no move to help, standing aside and asking pointedly, “I really don’t get it. If you like Su Jing, why do you keep pestering Sister Wen?”
“Who do you actually like Sister Wen or Su Jing?”
“Or do you just think it’s fun to play both sides, flaunting your popularity and showing off that you swing both ways?”
“Let me warn you someone like you doesn’t deserve Sister Wen. You’ll only drag her down. Even if you really do like her, you wouldn’t want her career to suffer, right? You’d better stay away from her!”
“And if I say no?” Jiang Chi stood up, locking eyes with Ji Mei. “What authority do you have to warn me?”
The look in Jiang Chi’s eyes changed, and Ji Mei sensed it keenly. Jiang Chi’s demeanor was different from before. She couldn’t help but take a step back, yet still stubbornly held her ground. “Of course, as Wen Wen’s suitor! I’m warning you, stop toying with Wen Wen’s feelings! Otherwise, I’ll expose you as a lesbian shamelessly two-timing!”
Jiang Chi couldn’t help but laugh, the sound echoing eerily through the empty parking lot like a specter’s call, unsettling enough to make Ji Mei shrink back slightly.
“Do you even hear yourself? You’re her suitor, and you’re threatening to expose me as a lesbian? Are you sure there’s nothing wrong up here?” Jiang Chi tapped her own temple pointedly. “I don’t have to educate you on the law here. If your brain’s not working, go to a hospital.”
With that, she turned and walked toward the exit.
Ji Mei froze for a moment before turning to her assistant. “What did she mean by that?”
“I think she was implying same-sex marriage is legal now,” the assistant said, then suddenly widened her eyes. “She, she’s coming back.”
Ji Mei whipped her head around just in time to see Jiang Chi indeed striding back, radiating murderous intent.
She watched as Jiang Chi walked up to Su Jing, muttering, “Can’t swallow this anger,” before delivering two sharp kicks. Then Jiang Chi glanced their way before leaving with a swagger.
The two gulped in unison, the assistant stammering, “Mei-Mei, maybe… maybe we shouldn’t provoke her.”
So terrifying.
The receptionist nearly lost her composure and laughed when she saw Jiang Chi return, but she maintained her professionalism flawlessly, relaying Wen Wen’s earlier instructions with an unyielding expression.
Jiang Chi blinked at her, eyes glistening as if on the verge of tears.
The receptionist remained stern. “Sorry, absolutely not allowed.”
Just as Jiang Chi was about to speak, the receptionist’s face lit up as she looked past her. Only then did Jiang Chi notice the approaching click of high heels against the marble floor.
She turned, and her first impression was:
Beautiful.
A beauty that could captivate at first glance, the same type as Wen Wen.
But unlike Wen Wen’s restrained, icy elegance, this woman’s beauty was bold and radiant.
The woman nodded at the receptionist before extending a hand toward Jiang Chi, lips curving into a perfect smile. “Hello, you must be Jiang Chi? Pleasure to meet you.”
Jiang Chi stood frozen.
Jiang Miao didn’t seem bothered by her lack of response. “Seems you don’t know me. I’m Jiang Miao. Wen Wen’s… good friend.”
Jiang Chi’s pinky twitched imperceptibly, but she still didn’t move.
For a moment, the air grew tense.
The receptionist glanced between them before smiling at Jiang Miao. “Ms. Jiang, President Wen said you don’t need to check in. You can go right up.”
Jiang Chi snapped out of it and turned to leave, only for the receptionist to stop her. “Ms. Jiang Chi, I meant Ms. Jiang Miao, not you.”
“Oh? So it’s this Jiang who gets to go up.” Jiang Miao tilted her head and waved playfully at Jiang Chi. “Then I’ll head up first. Goodbye, Ms. Jiang.”
The click of her heels faded into the distance.
Jiang Chi’s feet seemed nailed to the spot by the high heels, unsure how to react.
After a long while, she finally turned her head toward the receptionist. “Who is she?”
The receptionist filled her in on Jiang Miao’s identity, concluding, “She and President Wen are very close friends. They often meet for afternoon tea, exercise, and so on.”
“Close friends…” Jiang Chi murmured the words under her breath.
“Miss Jiang, it seems you don’t know President Wen at all,” the receptionist blurted out after holding back for a long time, then added, “Please leave.”
Jiang Chi’s first reaction to this was, should she know Wen Wen?
The force controlling her body suddenly tightened, spreading through her limbs, compelling Jiang Chi to walk out of Wen Corporation’s building and toward the underground parking lot.
It seemed that unless she dealt with Su Jing today, this plot manipulation wouldn’t let her off easily.
Right. With Wen Wen not by her side, the control could seize her anytime, anywhere.
This time, Jiang Miao didn’t knock she pushed open the office door and strode in. Inside, Wen Wen wasn’t seated at her desk working but was instead leaning against the side of the massive desk, gazing out the window.
Jiang Miao walked over and stood beside her. The woman next to her didn’t even spare her a glance, so she nudged her with an elbow. “What did Su Jing say to you?”
Wen Wen merely parted her lips. “He said his proposal was successful.”
“Tch, how shameless. Can we sue him for defaming Jiang Chi’s reputation? Suddenly having a fiancé out of nowhere.” Jiang Miao’s tone was laced with disdain. She paused, then turned her head to look at Wen Wen before continuing, “Don’t be too upset. According to my intel, Jiang Chi really did reject his proposal. Su Jing was so angry he smashed a glass.”
Wen Wen: “I know.”
If Jiang Chi had truly accepted Su Jing’s proposal, he wouldn’t have appeared before her today.
After all, who would keep eyeing someone else’s meal when they already had a long-term, stable, and generous meal ticket?
Besides, she had already seen the photos Su Jing showed her all of them were photoshopped. There were shots of Su Jing kneeling with a ring while Jiang Chi looked delighted, Su Jing slipping the ring onto her finger, and even Su Jing kissing the back of Jiang Chi’s hand.
One had to admit, Su Jing was indeed an actor, he knew how to put on a full act.
Too bad his Photoshop skills weren’t great.
Jiang Miao was surprised. “You knew?”
Wen Wen gave a slight nod. “He demanded 2% of Wen Corporation’s shares from me. If I agreed, he’d call off the engagement with Jiang Chi and never see her again.”
Jiang Miao froze for a second before letting out a cold laugh. “Some men really keep lowering the bar of my expectations. 2% of Wen Corporation’s shares that’s enough for an ordinary person to live comfortably without lifting a finger for the rest of their lives. And he actually had the nerve to ask for it.”
“But, putting that aside, if you knew, why did you treat Jiang Chi like that? I ran into her downstairs earlier her eyes were red, like she’d been crying. Doesn’t that hurt you?”
Wen Wen remained unmoved, her tone indifferent. “If she really cried because of me, wouldn’t my current attitude be exactly what helps her along?”
Jiang Miao instantly understood her meaning and nodded in agreement. “True. Jiang Chi’s emotional resilience is just… a bit too strong.”
