Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 53.2
Wen Wen continued scrolling down, her grip on the phone tightening until the veins on the back of her hand bulged, as if she might crush the device.
At the critical moment, a hand snatched the phone away from her.
“President Wen, this is my beloved phone. Even if you’re willing to compensate, I’m not willing to replace it,” Jiang Miao said as she pocketed the phone securely, leaning forward with her elbows on the desk. “According to the rumors I’ve heard, Su Jing proposed to Jiang Chi last night.”
Wen Wen’s pinky finger on the desk twitched nervously.
“And they say the proposal was successful.”
Wen Wen suddenly looked up.
Jiang Miao immediately recoiled, leaning back in her chair and dramatically crossing her arms in a defensive posture. “Don’t look at me like that, it’s not me trying to steal your woman.”
In truth, Wen Wen’s expression showed little fluctuation. She had always been exceptionally good at controlling her emotions.
Her face displayed more sorrow and bewilderment than anger or irritation.
Jiang Miao studied her for a moment before sighing and resting her hands on the desk again. “So, what now? Are you going to confront her immediately, or head downstairs to blow off some steam?”
By “blow off steam,” she meant going to fight. They had both trained in combat techniques for a while, and a few rounds always helped relieve stress.
The “downstairs” she referred to was the 10th floor of the same building, an entire floor dedicated to a gym, fully equipped with all kinds of exercise machines and multiple combat rooms.
Jiang Miao still thought Wen Wen should vent first. Though she knew Wen Wen was highly rational, there were two things that could make anyone lose control or reason: money (which Wen Wen clearly didn’t lack) and love.
A rational person losing control was the most terrifying thing.
Jiang Miao snapped her fingers in front of Wen Wen. “My suggestion? We go vent first, then you can confront her, okay? You look terrible right now.”
Though her expression remained composed, the oppressive aura around her was terrifying enough to suffocate someone, figuratively speaking.
Just then, the office door was knocked, and Wen Wen’s secretary spoke from outside, “President Wen, Mr. Su Jing is here to see you. He says it’s very important.”
“Well, well,” Jiang Miao raised an eyebrow. “Looks like a punching bag delivered right to your doorstep.”
“Better make the most of it. I’ll take my leave now.” She stood and walked to the door, telling the secretary, “Tell that gentleman to go straight to the 10th floor in ten minutes.”
The secretary hesitated. “But—”
“Relax.” Jiang Miao patted her shoulder with a smile. “President Wen asked me to relay this. She’s afraid if she speaks, she’ll freeze you to death!”
She deliberately spoke loudly enough for the person inside the office to hear. After waiting two seconds without any objection, she gave the secretary another pat. “Go ahead.”
Inside the office, Wen Wen picked up her phone, unlocked it, and opened the chat with Jiang Chi.
For three days now, there hadn’t been a single message.
She typed, “You seem busy,” and hit send, only for a red exclamation mark to appear. The message failed to deliver.
Wen Wen let out an involuntary cold laugh.
So this is why you haven’t come to see me?
She tossed the phone aside and headed straight for the 10th floor.
When Su Jing was led by the staff to the combat room where Wen Wen was, the person on the square arena was already drenched in sweat, their elegant body lines exposed to the air, exuding an aura of athletic hormones.
Wen Wen was fighting fiercely, as if venting some pent-up emotions. Thud, thud, thud, the sound of her gloves striking the sandbag echoed relentlessly. She was completely immersed in her punches.
Her state made Su Jing wonder if she already knew something.
Confirming his suspicions inwardly, Su Jing didn’t rush to interrupt Wen Wen. Instead, he casually found a spot to sit down.
About a minute later, the thudding stopped.
Su Jing immediately stood up and got straight to the point: “Miss Wen, have you heard about what’s been happening with Jiang Chi these past two days?”
He shook his head helplessly. “Actually, I did try to reject her. Oh, right you once said you were Jiang Chi’s best friend, so you must know better than I do just how clingy your best friend can be. Like a fly fixated on a piece of meat, no matter how you shoo it away, it just won’t leave.”
“If you’re here to spout this kind of nonsense,” Wen Wen cut him off coldly, not mincing words, “you can get the hell out.”
“Swearing now? Seems like you’re really worked up.” With no one else around, Su Jing didn’t bother hiding his smug smile. He circled the arena, stopping at a spot where he could face Wen Wen directly.
“Miss Wen, you’re a smart woman. I think all these years, while she’s been with me, you’ve been sabotaging me because you knew, the person you’ve been cradling like a treasure is, in my eyes, utterly worthless.”
“I assume you’ve already heard about what happened these past two days. But there’s one thing the paparazzi didn’t capture.” He pulled out his phone and pulled up a photo from last night him proposing to Jiang Chi.
“I proposed to her last night. You should’ve seen it, she was so moved she cried. Didn’t even wait for me to finish my speech before saying ‘I do’ over and over.”
Wen Wen finally seemed to show a flicker of interest in his presence. She walked from the center of the arena to the railing, glanced at the photo on his phone, and replied expressionlessly, “So, what do you want to talk to me about?””
“I know you care deeply about Jiang Chi. If you agree to give me 2% of Wen Group’s shares, I’ll call off the engagement immediately and promise never to see her again.” Su Jing shrugged helplessly. “Of course, she’ll probably keep chasing after me, but I’ll honor my word. No matter how many times she comes begging, I’ll just reject her again and again.”
“What do you say? Trading 2% of your shares for the person you’d protect with your life sounds like a good deal, doesn’t it?”
Wen Wen stared at him for two seconds, then, instead of responding to his offer, brought up a completely unrelated topic: “I heard you’ve trained in combat too, Mr. Su. Care to step onto the arena for a couple of rounds?”
Su Jing smirked. “Miss Wen, I know you want to take your anger out on me, but let’s not. You’re no match for me, and I don’t want to be accused of bullying a woman.”
“I’m the one inviting you. What are you afraid of?” Wen Wen’s tone was flat, devoid of inflection, as if she were speaking to a dead man. “Or is it that you’re actually afraid of losing to me?”
Men with high self-esteem often can’t resist a challenge. Hearing her words, Su Jing indeed asked, “Where’s the changing room?”
Wen Wen gestured in a direction: “There are plenty of new clothes and gloves inside. Feel free to pick, Mr. Su, consider them my gift.”
Su Jing quickly changed and emerged, placing his phone at a corner of the ring before jumping onto it.
Wen Wen’s gaze swept over him from head to toe, her lips curling slightly: “Why still wearing the headgear? Afraid I might hit you?”
“How about making it more exciting? No headgear, no headshots, everything else is fair game.”
Su Jing paused while putting on his gloves, narrowing his eyes at Wen Wen: “Even the face? This is your turf. If you lose too badly, Ms. Wen, you won’t send people after me, will you?”
Wen Wen pointed to the surveillance cameras scattered around: “These cameras will record every word and action clearly. They’ll document that everything between us is consensual. No one can come after anyone afterward.”
Su Jing stared at her face for two seconds, then removed his headgear with a slight sigh: “What a pity for such a pretty face. I’ll try to go easy on you.”
With that, he tossed the headgear off the ring and swiftly launched a punch, fueled by all the resentment from Wen Wen’s provocations over the days.
Especially the humiliation of making him slap himself on camera that night.
Wen Wen blocked with lightning reflexes while driving her knee toward his abdomen.
Su Jing grunted in pain, clutching his stomach as he staggered back two steps. His face contorted briefly before he composed himself, eyes blazing: “From now on, I’m serious.”
Wen Wen scoffed: “Spare me the edgy lines. Like you just did say whatever you have to say with your fists.”
