Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 49.1
In the past, she wouldn’t have hesitated to approach Wen Wen just because she let go of her hand. Back then, her guilt stemmed from provoking Su Jing, but tonight, far from provoking him, she had been mocking him something the entire nation could witness.
Similarly, in the past, she wouldn’t have overanalyzed the strange atmosphere between them.
She was always the best at acting shamelessly, especially toward someone like Wen Wen, who indulged her.
Her mind seemed stuck in perpetual motion, its speed fluctuating but never stopping.
Truthfully, she could sense that Wen Wen’s current mood wasn’t entirely because of her but she was definitely the trigger.
Right now, Wen Wen seemed to be reflecting more than anything else.
Just then, the prolonged silence was abruptly broken.
Wen Wen spoke first: “Did you ever receive love letters when you were younger?”
?
Jiang Chi was puzzled. This was, a completely unrelated question given the current atmosphere?
But she quickly connected it to the escape room story Wen Wen had told earlier. Was she still thinking about that?
Jiang Chi searched her memories seriously. If she had received love letters, it would have been during middle school. By university, people just asked for contact info directly.
After a long pause, she shook her head. “No.”
Her thoughts successfully derailed by the topic, she suddenly widened her eyes as if realizing something. “Sister Wen, do you think… someone who had an unrequited love for me might have stolen my letters too?”
She said it lightly, but Wen Wen’s fingers twitched violently. She turned her head toward the window, watching the bustling cityscape flash by like a surreal dream.
The car’s atmosphere grew heavy again. Just as Jiang Chi assumed Wen Wen wouldn’t speak anymore, the woman staring out the window spoke once more.
“If that were true… what would you do?”
Jiang Chi studied her, sensing that Wen Wen was acting strangely tonight, in every possible way.
A thought suddenly struck her. Could Wen Wen have done something like that before? After all…
Of course, this was just speculation.
After careful consideration, Jiang Chi answered slowly, “If it happened to me, I think I’d feel a little regretful.”
Wen Wen turned back, her expression faintly surprised. “Regretful about what?”
“About all those feelings I never got to know. Especially the person who took my letters, if they liked me so much, why didn’t they tell me? Now I don’t even have anything to brag about.”
“Was I really that intimidating back then?”
“That can’t be right.”
She muttered to herself while stealing glances at Wen Wen’s expression.
Another long silence followed.
This time, Jiang Chi spoke first. “There’s also the possibility that the person whose letters were taken might actually be grateful. Some people are too popular and don’t know how to handle it. No letters might feel like a relief, don’t you think?”
“Sister Wen, you must’ve been really popular growing up, right? Did love letters ever trouble you? Is that why you’re so fixated on this?”
Wen Wen’s lips curved slightly, as if recalling something. “You could say that.”
The strange atmosphere seemed to break the ice in that instant. Jiang Chi scooted over to sit right beside Wen Wen, wrapping an arm around her waist and resting her head on Wen Wen’s shoulder. Sincerely, she said, “Sis, you were absolutely amazing tonight!”
Wen Wen nuzzled her cheek against Jiang Chi’s hair, speaking softly with a gentleness Jiang Chi couldn’t perceive: “You were amazing too.”
Jiang Chi: “Sis, won’t you tell me what kind of love letters you’ve received before? You seemed to think of something earlier, you looked really happy.”
Wen Wen: “I don’t remember.”
The reason she had smiled earlier wasn’t because of any love letters. Instead, she realized her attempts at testing the waters had been entirely unnecessary.
Back in the escape room, hearing Jiang Chi’s disgust at Ruan Yue’s act of stealing love letters had left her heart suddenly hollow, filled with a bitter ache she could only describe as “Jiang Chi’s revulsion.”
But just now, it dawned on her, if Jiang Chi didn’t fall for her as she hoped she would simply use her own methods to keep her by her side.
At that point, Jiang Chi might see her as a deranged freak, but compared to what she was capable of, something as trivial as “stealing” love letters would be nothing.
And if Jiang Chi did fall for her as she wished, then the matter of the love letters would remain a secret known only to herself unless she chose to reveal it.
Jiang Chi tilted her head up to look at her. “What do you mean you don’t remember? With your memory, you’d still recall everything even at eighty! Are you just not telling me?”
Wen Wen: “Do I look like someone with that much free time?”
“Who said you were free? Don’t change the subject and twist my words!” Jiang Chi pouted. “I was clearly complimenting your memory.”
Wen Wen: “I really don’t remember.”
Jiang Chi lifted her head again, but this time, Wen Wen happened to lean slightly toward her. Her lips brushed against Jiang Chi’s chin, and her gaze landed squarely on those plump, rosy lips.
Suddenly, the question Wen Wen had asked her more than once flashed through her mind: “Why do you want to kiss me?”
Just then, the car came to a stop. The driver turned slightly to announce, “We’re here.”
As they stepped out, a strikingly modern two-and-a-half-story villa came into view, its lights blazing as if awaiting its returning owners.
Inside the gates lay an expansive front yard gardens, a swimming pool, a lawn area perfect for BBQs and gatherings… everything one could want.
The production crew was already waiting for the guests on the lawn.
Once everyone had arrived, Director Xu introduced the accommodation options for the night: the main villa, a small storage shed beside it, and… the tents that hadn’t even been set up yet on the lawn.
Before the guests could fully process the stark differences in lodging, the crew announced the results of today’s Happy Valley challenge: Cooling CP in first place, Golden Season CP in second, and Su Bai CP in third.
Su Jing’s face twisted in disbelief. She opened her mouth to speak but suddenly seemed to remember something and promptly shut it.
Unsurprisingly, the main villa’s luxurious accommodations, the full-body relaxation massage package, and the gourmet dinner for two all went to Cooling CP.
Entering the villa, Jiang Chi scanned the living room, there were exactly two bedrooms on the first floor.
“Sis, which room do you want?”
Wen Wen pointed to the one on the left. Jiang Chi nodded, grabbing her luggage with one hand and Wen Wen’s wrist with the other, pulling her toward the room together.
Wen Wen: ???
Arriving at the bedroom door, Wen Wen quickly stepped forward and blocked Jiang Chi’s path, raising an eyebrow slightly. “What are you doing?”
Jiang Chi blinked innocently. “Nothing much. Just thought we’d stay together.”
Wen Wen: “I want my own room.”
Jiang Chi shrugged cheerfully. “Oh, alright then.” With that, she picked up her things and headed toward another room.
Wen Wen watched her retreating figure: Is the puppy being this obedient today?
Before she could react, a shadow fell over her, then descended swiftly. By the time she fully processed it, she was already pinned against the door.
Jiang Chi’s breath lingered at her neck. “Sister, you can’t just shoo me away like that. You owe me quite a bit tonight have you forgotten already? Hmm?”
Her neck was Wen Wen’s most sensitive spot. The warm breath brushing against her delicate skin was like a spark landing on dry tinder. Wen Wen felt a scorching heat spreading through her body unbearable, yet undeniably thrilling.
Still somewhat clear-headed, she asked, “So your so-called ‘unconditional request’ was just demanding to stay with me tonight?”
Jiang Chi lifted her head, gaze sharp. “Let’s not talk about that yet.” She raised a hand, slowly tracing Wen Wen’s lips with her thumb. “How about we discuss compensation first?”
