Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 48.2
“Ruan Yue confronted Qin Feng, only to be met with disgust and a look as if she were insane. The truth was exposed, the beautiful illusion shattered. After the deception came to light, Liu Jingshan begged for forgiveness. At first, Ruan Yue refused to accept his apology. Later, there was a line in her diary: ‘I know my mind isn’t right anymore. When I’m sane, I know everything from before was just an illusion crafted by someone with ulterior motives. When I’m not, I’m still Qin Feng’s girlfriend, and he’s still the boyfriend who cared for me endlessly.’”
“The truth tormented her in both states. The moments of instability grew more frequent until she wanted to end it all. But she couldn’t just disappear alone she wanted to drag down everyone who laughed at her, everyone who coveted Qin Feng, to accompany her in death.”
“After a period of rest, she began to lower her guard. While the school was in a state of panic, she appeared increasingly normal, so no one suspected her. Moreover, she even staged a performance with Liu Jingshan, indicating she would forgive him if he complied. Liu did as told, deliberately being seen in women’s clothing without offering any explanation as rumors spread throughout the school. Liu Jingshan died under the pressure of these rumors, and also at the hands of Ruan Yue, who rejected him once again.”
“Starting with Liu Jingshan, Ruan Yue step by step executed her plan, leading everyone in the school to their doom.”
“I suspect Qin Feng was likely the final victim. In that last room, the walls were covered in small yet forcefully written phrases like ‘Qin Feng, you have no heart.’ Similar expressions were found in the diary. ‘Those without hearts don’t need one.’ So I think.”
Wen Wen’s voice trailed off at just the right moment.
The first half was a bittersweet tale of unrequited love, while the second half spiraled into a horror story of psychological breakdown.
This was the story of Ruan Yue’s unrequited love.
The scene fell into silence, though screams echoed around them, as if cheering for the “perfect” story Wen Wen had just narrated.
[If this weren’t live, I’d think the production team gave Wen the script in advance to flatter her, lol.]
[As if a live broadcast guarantees no script?]
[Is it so hard to admit someone’s talented?]
[As a mere NPC in this world, I can only marvel: is there anything Wen Wen can’t do?]
Jiang Chi was the first to react, clapping enthusiastically like a seal. The others gradually “woke up” and joined in the applause except for Su Jing.
Director Xu: “Absolutely correct. That’s exactly how the story goes.”
As the applause died down, another round started this time from Su Jing. Maintaining his expression, he shook his head with a bitter smile. “Seems the only difference was the final scene. I guess in cases like this, we should really follow all the clues to the end. Consider me a cautionary tale.”
Anyone could see Su Jing was scrambling to save face. Everyone glanced at him but chose not to call him out after all, as a top-tier celebrity, he wasn’t someone to offend lightly. But given how casually he had dismissed Wen Wen earlier, she wasn’t about to let him off the hook.
Besides, every bit of what Su Jing had today was built by her hands.
Perhaps even she didn’t realize she was already harboring thoughts of destroying him.
“No,” Jiang Chi spoke slowly, drawing everyone’s attention. “The difference between you and my sister isn’t just the final scene.”
The room seemed to collectively inhale sharply. Unfazed, Jiang Chi continued, “When you followed us out earlier, you confidently declared you’d figured it all out. But my sister didn’t. After finishing the infirmary scene, she said there was still one crucial clue missing.”
“In terms of logic alone, you’re already far behind her.”
Another round of sharp intakes echoed through the room.
“And,” Jiang Chi added, “you spoke just now after the director confirmed our answer was correct. So now, Mr. Su, I hope you’ll honor your promise and slap yourself ten times.”
Dead silence filled the space, as if everyone was holding their breath except Wen Wen. Her gaze rested calmly on the figure standing protectively in front of her, her thoughts unreadable.
Su Jing remained motionless.
“What’s the matter? Your so-called sure answer turned out to be wrong, and now you want to back out?” Jiang Chi pressed aggressively. “Mr. Su, don’t feel wronged either no one forced you. This is the path you chose yourself.”
If you choose the path, you must walk it yourself.
A heavy silence fell, like a dud bomb dropped into the air oppressive, yet seemingly on the verge of explosion.
Though it felt like an eternity, only a dozen seconds had passed before Su Jing slowly curled his lips into a smile. “Of course not. A man’s word is his bond once spoken, it cannot be taken back.”
The moment he finished speaking, a sharp slap rang out.
Then another.
And another.
Amidst this, Jiang Chi tilted her head slightly, trying to sneak a glance at Wen Wen’s expression. Unexpectedly, the moment she turned, she was caught in a gaze so mesmerizing it could kill, a look that seemed both amused and mocking.
Jiang Chi’s heart skipped a beat, and she immediately averted her eyes.
She couldn’t decipher Wen Wen’s intentions.
She had never been able to, whether it was when Wen Wen had tried to let go of her hand in the escape room or when she had decisively released it at the entrance earlier.
She felt like she’d made a mistake, but she couldn’t pinpoint what it was.
When the slapping finally ceased, Jiang Chi couldn’t wait to ask, “Director Xu, is everything over for today?”
No sooner had she spoken than Jin Jin Yi and Ji Mei emerged from the direction of the escape room. Both looked shocked to see the four of them already outside, but Ji Mei quickly recovered and hurried over, demanding, “Is it over? Did you get all the answers right?”
Director Xu confirmed, “Yes.”
Ji Mei: “Who? Who solved it?”
Director Xu: “Wen Wen.”
Ji Mei instantly lit up, bouncing over to Wen Wen’s side and reaching for her hand. But Wen Wen coldly stepped back, refusing to give her any face. “I’ve told you before maintain an appropriate social distance from me.”
Ji Mei seemed to have finally reached her limit. “Why can’t I even get close, but she can cling to you like that?” she shouted, pointing at Jiang Chi. Already pushed to the brink in the escape room, she now faced this humiliation. Was she really so undeserving of even a little comfort?
Jiang Chi felt as if those words had unlocked something profound within her.
Yes wasn’t the source of that strange feeling Wen Wen’s inexplicable indulgence toward her?
And in everyone else’s eyes, shouldn’t they be sworn rivals? So why did Wen Wen seem to cater to her every whim?
Her gaze fixed intently on Wen Wen. She desperately wanted to hear Wen Wen’s answer.
Ji Mei’s attitude quickly softened, her voice dripping with grievance. “Sister, I really like you. Can’t you give me a chance?”
Wen Wen studied her for a long moment before replying, “If you mean the kind of admiration a fan has for their idol, I appreciate your affection.”
“But if you mean romantic feelings, I’m afraid I can’t reciprocate.”
“I hope Miss Ji understands what I’m saying and doesn’t waste her time on me.”
Her rejection was delivered without hesitation, her tone icy, leaving no room for hope.
[I really hate this side of Wen Wen. Shouldn’t it be an honor that someone likes you? Is it so satisfying to reject them in front of everyone? Couldn’t you at least consider their feelings?]
[“I don’t think Wen Wen is wrong. If you don’t like someone, don’t give them false hope. Besides, Wen Wen has rejected them openly and subtly many times. Anyone with sense wouldn’t keep pestering, but some just refuse to take the hint and pretend not to understand. And why fear being rejected in public?”]
[“Exactly. And Ji Mei knows exactly what intentions she had when approaching Wen Wen. I think Wen Wen has been very gentle about it. If it were me, I’d probably have torn off the facade right away.”]
[“Is it wrong to like someone? Maybe the initial intentions weren’t pure, but what if real feelings developed later?”]
On the way back to the accommodation.
In the backseat of the car.
Jiang Chi kept stealing glances at Wen Wen beside her. The latter sat perfectly upright, eyes closed whether deep in thought or simply resting, it was hard to tell.
She wanted to say something but didn’t know what.
Her mind was in turmoil.
Like a tangled ball of yarn, she couldn’t find the end, nor even understand why she’d become so tangled.
Perhaps it was Ji Mei’s accusatory question.
Or maybe Wen Wen’s evasive response.
Wen Wen undoubtedly indulged her, but in their current relationship, while it might seem like Jiang Chi was taking advantage of that favor, everything ultimately depended on Wen Wen’s will.
She was the proactive one, yet also the one being judged.
She appeared confident, but in truth, she treaded carefully.
Every time she thought she’d glimpsed a hint of Wen Wen’s thoughts, the latter would always prove her wrong with actions: You haven’t.
Back and forth, Wen Wen seemed unchanged. The only one who’d grown strange was Jiang Chi herself.
