Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 30
Due to the overwhelming number of tourists in line, the queue had stretched all the way to the edge of the open area. Jiang Chi glanced at the line before turning and running toward Director Xu. “Director Xu, may I borrow your megaphone?”
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Jiang Chi’s smile froze on her face.
She had gotten carried away, how could she have forgotten about the plot’s control mechanism?
Her limbs moved against her will as she snatched the megaphone from Director Xu and sprinted straight toward Su Jing.
At that moment, Su Jing was pitching his photography services to a young woman. It was clear from her wandering gazefixed longingly on Wen Wen’s direction that she was only standing there out of politeness.
Jiang Chi marched right up to them and shouted through the megaphone, “Miss! The line over there can’t take any more people, and they’re limiting shoots to one set per customer now. If you join that queue, you might not get your turn before nightfall! For the sake of your precious time, we highly recommend letting this handsome photographer Su take your pictures instead!”
“And as a bonus, I’ll give you a free customized makeup look to suit your style!”
The girl looked puzzled. “Are you part of Wen Wen’s team?”
Yes! Yes, I am! Jiang Chi wanted to scream, but the plot wouldn’t let her say what she truly meant. Damn this controlling narrative! Couldn’t it give her a break? How was she supposed to smooth things over with Wen Wen after this? She had already exhausted all her tricks this morning, what if Wen Wen never spoke to her again?!
“Well, let’s just say my body is here, but my heart is elsewhere,” Jiang Chi replied breezily. “But that’s not important! What matters is that you want beautiful photos as quickly as possible, right?”
The girl hesitated. “But, I don’t know how good his work is. Everyone says Wen Wen’s photos are amazing, so…”
Jiang Chi shot a glare at Su Jing, who was standing there like a statue. “What’s wrong with you? All that sales pitch was useless! In this business, skill is what matters most. How could you not show her your portfolio?”
Snapping out of his daze, Su Jing hastily pulled up the photos he had taken earlier. Jiang Chi leaned in to look, the subject was Bai Yuetong. Technically speaking, his work was far inferior to Wen Wen’s, but there was something about the photos. The way Wen Wen had captured her in pictures felt eerily similar to how Su Jing had photographed Bai Yuetong.
Before she could dwell on that unsettling thought, the girl spoke up after examining the photos. “These are actually really nice! Alright, I’ll take you up on your offer.”
Jiang Chi snapped her fingers. “Would you like my free service then?” She produced a small mirror and held it up to the girl.
The girl studied her reflection and shook her head. “I think I’ll just go with how I look now.”
“Sure!” Jiang Chi turned to Su Jing. “Brother Su, you handle the photography. I’ll manage the client flow.”
From the moment Jiang Chi had approached, Su Jing’s gaze had barely left her. The woman he remembered as nothing more than a scheming troublemaker who tormented Bai Yuetong now appeared before him radiant, dazzling, and utterly unexpected.
“Brother Su?” Jiang Chi was internally exasperated. What was this man spacing out for? She wanted to smack him awake, but all she could do was call out again, feigning confusion. “Brother Su?”
Su Jing snapped back to reality and smiled, “Alright, I’ll listen to you.”
Listen to her? What did he mean by that?
Shouldn’t he have refused her?
Had this bastard forgotten that Bai Yuetong was the one paired with him for this episode?
Oh right, where was Bai Yuetong?
She turned around, scanning the crowd for Bai Yuetong, but couldn’t find her at all.
“Where’s Bai Yuetong?”
“She said she knows this scenic area well, so she’s trying to complete the task by offering tour guide services,” Su Jing replied matter-of-factly. “I don’t know where she is.”
Well, it seemed hopeless to expect a rejection now.
Jiang Chi wanted to glance in Wen Wen’s direction, but unfortunately, it was as if something was deliberately controlling her. The moment she thought of Wen Wen, her body refused to turn freely.
All she could do was pray silently that Wen Wen wouldn’t ignore her.
After Su Jing finished taking a set of photos for the young woman, Jiang Chi approached for an interview. “How do you feel about the photos, miss?”
The young woman was clearly satisfied. “I love them.”
“That’s great,” Jiang Chi said with a smile. “In that case, could you help us promote our service?”
Though puzzled, the young woman agreed.
Jiang Chi followed the same method she had used earlier with Wen Wen first loudly drawing the attention of nearby tourists, then introducing their services, and finally having the young woman share her firsthand experience.
Her tactic quickly attracted a wave of tourists. Many who had been queuing in Wen Wen’s line wavered and switched over to Jiang Chi’s side.
Those still left in Wen Wen’s line exchanged confused glances, wondering why people had suddenly abandoned their spots.
“What’s going on? Did they just have a fight?”
“No, weren’t they just doing their own tasks? Jiang Chi ran over to Su Jing’s side after grabbing that megaphone earlier.”
“I don’t know either. Maybe it’s some secret mission for their show?”
“Whatever, I’m definitely sticking with Wen Wen for my photos!”
“Same here!”
Jiang Chi enthusiastically organized the new arrivals into a neat line, reminding everyone that each person was limited to one set of photos. Inside, she was on the verge of tears, she had originally taken the megaphone to announce this very rule in Wen Wen’s line.
Amid the bustling crowd, her gaze met a pair of strikingly beautiful eyes.
Wen Wen’s eyes rested on her, cool and detached, as if devoid of emotion or perhaps filled with something far more complicated.
The glance didn’t linger long, but it sent a chill straight to Jiang Chi’s core, making her hands tremble slightly around the megaphone.
A random phrase about emotions flashed through her mind:
True departure is never marked by loud arguments.
Wen Wen had seen her but showed no reaction.
Why didn’t she storm over like before, when she had marched up with the clothes, scolded her, and dragged her back?
Why this indifference.
Her heart felt like cold ashes, yet her face beamed with a radiant smile as she warmly greeted the arriving tourists. For a moment, Jiang Chi felt as if she had split into two people, she had no idea what she was doing, but the script forced her to react appropriately.
She wanted to think about how to win Wen Wen’s forgiveness later, but she couldn’t.
She didn’t even have the right to think about Wen Wen.
As many customers had been taken away, Wen Wen quickly finished photographing the remaining tourists. After handing over the last order, she hesitated for a moment before turning her gaze toward Jiang Chi’s location.
At that moment, Jiang Chi was braiding a stylish girl’s hair into dreadlocks, occasionally chatting and laughing with her everything seemed harmonious and pleasant.
[No! I just can’t understand and am utterly shocked! What is Jiang Chi doing? Huh? Trying to have her cake and eat it too? Don’t be so greedy!]
[Yeah, what’s going on here? Some kind of chaotic CP mashup?]
[Could it be some kind of hidden mission or something?]
[Sniff, my heart aches for Wen Wen. She’s staring so intently she might turn into a “gazing-at-wife stone.”]
[Who says Wen Wen is definitely looking at Jiang Chi? Su Jing is also in that direction, couldn’t she be looking at him?]
[So, some of Wen Wen’s solo stans would rather pair her with a man like Su Jing, who’s as appealing as garbage, than accept a devoted beauty like Jiang Chi? What kind of twisted logic is that?]
A single spark ignited a wildfire, and the comment section instantly became a battleground for fans of all sides.
Wen Wen stood still.
She wanted to go over and reclaim her.
But would it mean anything? Would she only be met with Jiang Chi’s resentful glare?
Just like that night they fought.
Yet, would the person who clung to her so eagerly on the show really leave her side like this?
Her sharp gaze fell on the megaphone Jiang Chi had set aside before shifting accusingly toward Director Xu.
Director Xu, as if struck by divine inspiration, miraculously understood Wen Wen’s glare in an instant and frantically crossed his arms in an X-shape.
His exaggerated gesture made it clear, no hidden missions were at play.
So, it was voluntary.
And that radiant, spring-like smile on Jiang Chi’s face didn’t seem forced at all.
To leave or to approach.
Almost instantly, the scales tipped decisively toward the latter.
Wen Wen took a step toward Jiang Chi.
They had already come this far.
Giving up now wasn’t her style.
Even if Jiang Chi resisted, so what?
She had ways to make her comply.
[She’s going over! This goddess-like woman is walking toward her beloved CP!]
[Fight! Fight! Fight!]
[I live for messy drama (screaming!!)]
[If you ask me, Wen Wen’s definitely going over for Su Jing!]
The moment that mysterious force dissipated from her body, Jiang Chi’s hands stilled. When she looked up and saw Wen Wen approaching, the boulder pressing on her heart seemed to drop but she could only stare blankly, too afraid to move closer.
Her heart yearned for Wen Wen, but her body refused to obey. All she could do was watch Wen Wen’s movements from the corner of her eye.
While Wen Wen stood motionless, staring in her direction after finishing her shoot, Jiang Chi’s hands trembled uncontrollably. The customer complained several times about her scalp being tugged.
She could only apologize, yet her shaking hands refused to steady.
Was her sister looking at Su Jing or at her?
Would her sister just walk away and leave her like this?
Now, seeing Wen Wen walking over, Jiang Chi still couldn’t tell was she coming for Su Jing, or for her?
A gentle breeze swept past, lifting Wen Wen’s hair as it danced in the air. Behind her, the lush, majestic mountains framed her like a painting, making Wen Wen’s beauty seem almost surreal.
As if the surrounding noise had vanished, leaving only the two of them in the entire world.
How she wished that this world truly had only the two of them. If that were the case, Wen Wen would have come solely for her.
Jiang Chi wanted to rush over and hold her tightly, yet her feet remained rooted to the spot without reason.
It was she who wanted to be close to Wen Wen, but the person Wen Wen wanted to be close to wasn’t her.
Just then, the figure in the painting paused and spoke, shattering the constraints of the world. Meeting her gaze directly, Wen Wen asked, “Aren’t you coming over?”
Understanding her meaning, Jiang Chi was both startled and overjoyed. She immediately set down the half-braided hair in her hands and ran over, wrapping her arms around Wen Wen in a tight embrace. With a pitiful whimper, she cried, “Sister, I thought you didn’t want me anymore.”
