Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot - Chapter 23
After ending her chat with Jiang Chi, Wen Wen immediately checked her schedule. After confirming her itinerary with her accompanying assistant, she realized tomorrow’s two meetings could be conducted online. Without hesitation, she changed her flight to tonight’s.
Originally, she had thought of returning early to give Jiang Chi a surprise.
Little did she expect Jiang Chi would be the one to give her a “surprise.”
In this one-elevator-per-household building, the moment Wen Wen stepped out of the elevator, she spotted a figure kneeling at her doorstep and instantly recognized it as Jiang Chi.
The dead of night was silent, and the elevator’s arrival chime was quite loud. Her footsteps, too, were unhidden the sharp clicks of her heels against the floor echoed clearly.
Yet, even so.
By the time she reached the figure, the person on the ground hadn’t reacted at all.
“Chi?”
The figure before her shuddered violently before slowly turning her head. A delicate face streaked with tears came into view.
Wen Wen’s heart skipped a beat. Before she knew it, the document folder in her hand had already fallen to the floor as she half-knelt before Jiang Chi, gently wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes. “Tell me, what happened?” she coaxed softly.
Instantly, the dried tear tracks were renewed as fresh tears spilled over. Jiang Chi threw herself into Wen Wen’s arms, her voice thick with misery. “Sister… I’m scared.”
This was the third time.
In this state, with this tone, clinging to her and saying she was scared.
This time, Wen Wen wrapped her arms around Jiang Chi, holding her tightly. “What are you scared of, Chi Chi? Tell me, okay?”
“Scared… scared…” Jiang Chi hiccuped through her tears before finally finding a reason. “I had a nightmare.”
She couldn’t very well say she’d been controlled by the plot, sneaking to the female lead’s house in the dead of night to assault her, and was now terrified of being retaliated against to death.
Though that was indeed what she feared.
But having a nightmare was also true.
Wen Wen’s expression softened with resignation, knowing Jiang Chi didn’t want to explain. She humored her instead. “What did you dream about?”
“I dreamed… someone slashed my face with scissors. Then I got hit by a car and died. And then, I woke up scared.” Jiang Chi’s tears had already stopped mid-sentence, the comfort of Wen Wen’s embrace bringing her an unprecedented sense of security. Only a faint tremble lingered in her voice.
Wen Wen helped her up, brushing away the remaining tear stains with a light chuckle. “Don’t tell me the ‘someone’ in your dream was me?”
Jiang Chi shook her head. “No, it was just me. I didn’t dream about you.”
The fingers at her temples slowly trailed down to pinch her earlobe. “If you didn’t dream about me, then why did you come here in the middle of the night?”
“Especially when you knew I wasn’t home. Why, hmm?”
By the time the last word left her lips, Wen Wen’s nose was already pressed against Jiang Chi’s.
Their gazes tangled, breaths mingling.
The warmth between them sent hearts skipping out of rhythm.
Jiang Chi’s throat moved unconsciously as she abruptly pulled back, meeting Wen Wen’s scrutinizing gaze. Her eyes darted away, fingers scratching her slightly itchy nose as she laughed nervously. “Yeah… why did I?”
Because of a nightmare, she’d run to someone else’s doorstep crying in the dead of night, knowing full well they weren’t home.
How was she supposed to explain that?
Say she was sleepwalking?
But she had clearly been wide awake just now!
Jiang Chi covered her mouth with a hand as she yawned: “Sis, it’s so late, I wanna sleep~”
Having not received an answer to her earlier fearful question, Wen Wen naturally didn’t expect an answer to this one either. She had only brought it up to divert Jiang Chi’s attention in the first place. Hearing the topic shift, she smoothly stood up and extended a hand: “Come on, I’ll take you home.”
Jiang Chi grasped her hand but didn’t stand, instead kneeling on the floor to gaze up at her, eyes sparkling: “Sis, can’t I stay over at your place tonight? I feel like I’m so tired I might pass out.”
Last time after signing the contract she’d been sent straight home – back then they weren’t close yet, so she understood. But now, after “living together” on the variety show, Wen Wen’s attitude toward her had clearly softened, even becoming quite indulgent. This time, she absolutely had to spend the night here no matter what!
Wen Wen narrowed her eyes slightly, deliberately misinterpreting: “No problem, I’ll drive you. You can sleep in the car and I’ll wake you when we arrive.”
Jiang Chi pouted: “Sis, it’s so late, I’m so pitiful, can’t you really let me stay just one night? Wuwuwu…”
Her dark, bright eyes stared straight up at Wen Wen, glistening with moisture as if she might actually burst into tears the next second.
Not enough, Wen Wen thought. Whether it was acting cute, being willful, or anything else – it still wasn’t enough.
“I could let you stay one night, but shouldn’t you pay some accommodation fee?”
Jiang Chi’s dimmed eyes suddenly brightened as she abruptly straightened up to wrap her arms around Wen Wen’s waist, gazing up with shining eyes: “Sis how much do you want for the fee? I’ll pay any amount!”
Wen Wen looked down at the person before her, lifting a hand to tilt Jiang Chi’s chin up: “Do I look like someone who’s short on money?”
“Then what do you want, sis? I’ll give you anything I have!”
Wen Wen’s gaze deepened: “Anything I want?”
“As long as I have it!” Jiang Chi nodded vigorously, her chin lightly bumping against Wen Wen’s abdomen with each movement.
A tingling sensation spread from her stomach. Wen Wen pressed down on Jiang Chi’s restless head, throat tightening: “Stand up first.”
Jiang Chi obediently complied, standing up straight like a perfect honor student.
Wen Wen’s eyes lingered on her face as she slowly enunciated: “Close your eyes.”
Jiang Chi stuttered: “Wh-what are you going to do?”
Her heartbeat accelerated without warning.
“Didn’t you say you’d give me anything I want?” Wen Wen stared at her. “Getting scared now?”
“Wh-who’s scared!” She immediately shut her eyes, face appearing perfectly calm – though her bobbing Adam’s apple and hands tightly clutching her skirt betrayed her true feelings.
Deprived of sight, other senses became amplified while perception of time grew dull.
Jiang Chi only felt the surrounding silence grow heavier, time stretching endlessly as Wen Wen remained motionless. Anxiety piled up minute by minute until she reached out a trembling hand: “Sis, are you still there?”
“Right here.”
Wen Wen responded immediately, taking the outstretched hand and gradually drawing closer.
Even with closed eyes, Jiang Chi could sense the bright ambient light. She only felt a shadow slowly approaching – unsurprisingly, when Wen Wen next spoke, her warm breath fanned entirely across Jiang Chi’s face.
“Are you scared?”
“I’m not when you’re here.” Jiang Chi tightly grasped Wen Wen’s hand, holding onto her.
This was her honest feeling.
Warm breath lingered on her face, gradually moving toward her lips.
Was she going to kiss her?
Jiang Chi recalled the aborted kiss in the lounge last time, her heart tightening with nervousness but even more so with anticipation.
Would she kiss her?
The faint warmth of breath brushed against the corner of her lips, and Jiang Chi couldn’t help but pout slightly.
Wen Wen noticed her reaction, amusement glimmering in her eyes as she spoke softly, “Nervous?”
Her throat moved unconsciously, and Jiang Chi nodded honestly. Then, she felt the warm breath leave the corner of her mouth, and the shadow before her eyes vanished.
Soon after, a patch of heated skin pressed against the bare skin over her heart.
She was wearing a floral strapless sundress today, with a sheer black cropped jacket draped over it. A large expanse of her chest was exposed, leaving no barrier between them. Wen Wen’s body temperature was high, so high that Jiang Chi almost wondered if her skin would burn from the contact.
“Seems like you really are nervous. Your heartbeat is so fast.” Wen Wen murmured against her skin. “Oh, it’s beating even faster now.”
Jiang Chi wanted to say that she could already feel her own heart pounding wildly, nearly leaping out of her chest, there was no need for a live commentary!
Wen Wen’s teasing only made her more flustered.
Despite her nerves, Jiang Chi remained obediently still. “Sister, what exactly are you trying to do? Do you just want to listen to my heartbeat?”
The warmth withdrew from her body, leaving Jiang Chi with an inexplicable sense of loss, until that same warmth returned to her face.
“Of course not.” Wen Wen’s voice was soft as silk. “Rather than what I want to do, why don’t you tell me, what are you hoping I’ll do?”
Kiss me!
The answer sprang to Jiang Chi’s mind instantly, but her words were different. “I’m not hoping for anything. I just want you to let me stay the night.”
“Really?” Wen Wen’s fingers traced the elegant, delicate lines of her collarbone, as if admiring a work of art. “You know, only honest children get candy.”
Her hand slid up Jiang Chi’s neck, slowly brushing against lips as soft as cherries. “Here, do you want some candy?”
Every spot Wen Wen’s fingertips touched burned as if set aflame. Jiang Chi didn’t speak, but her lips parted slightly, catching the tip of Wen Wen’s finger in a silent answer.
Wen Wen smirked. “Seems like this one wants candy.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chi opened her mouth as if to bite the finger, but Wen Wen pulled it away first.
“Didn’t I just say? Only honest children get candy. But just now, Chi Chi wasn’t honest, was she?”
A fire raged inside Jiang Chi, demanding release. So consumed by it, she didn’t even notice Wen Wen using the childhood nickname only her closest family and friends knew. She opened her mouth to correct her dishonesty, but a finger pressed against her lips.
“Candy expires. No second chances.”
“Sister…” Her voice was damp with complaint.
“Shh.” Wen Wen silenced her. “Learn your lesson. Next time, remember to be honest.”
“Now, I’ll tell you what I want to do. Don’t move a muscle, if you do, I’ll send you home.”
Her heartbeat, which had calmed down from the grievance, grew restless again. Jiang Chi held her breath.
The warm breath lingering on her face gradually moved downward, slowly sliding past her neck before settling on her collarbone.
Realizing what Wen Wen intended to do, Jiang Chi instinctively wanted to retreat, but soft lips pressed against her collarbone before she could.
Where their skin touched, it felt as if an electric current surged through her. Jiang Chi trembled all over, her body instinctively trying to pull away from the stimulation. But just as she tried to step back, a hand pressed against her back, holding her in place.
The tender lips turned into sharp teeth.
As if punishing her for being disobedient.
“Mmm!”
Jiang Chi sharply inhaled, her eyes flying open as she stared at the person in front of her. Wen Wen was biting her collarbone, her gaze dark and unreadable as she watched her.
“Jiejie, it hurts…”
Wen Wen released her as requested, steadying her shoulders before pressing a kiss over the teeth marks. Then, without another word, she opened the front door and walked straight inside.
Standing in the living room, Wen Wen pointed to a room on the left. “You’ll stay here tonight. Everything inside is new, so just use whatever you need. It’s late, get some rest.”
Then she gestured to a room on the right. “My room is here. If you have any questions, you can come find me.”
With that, she went straight to her room.
From start to finish, she didn’t spare Jiang Chi another glance.
Wen Wen fled into her room, locking the door behind her before leaning against it, covering her face as she slowly exhaled.
This was too crazy. Too out of line.
Since childhood, she had always followed the rules, never once crossing such boundaries.
Her original intention had just been to use the suspension bridge effect, to keep Jiang Chi in a state of tension so that, even if only for the second she opened her eyes, she might feel something akin to affection. That alone would have satisfied her.
She hadn’t meant to kiss and bite like that.
She should have held back.
But as she carefully recalled Jiang Chi’s reaction, the corners of her usually indifferent lips curled slightly.
At this level, Jiang Chi didn’t seem to dislike it?
Then next time, Wen Wen touched her lips. Could she afford to be a little bolder?
Jiang Chi returned to her room and stood in front of the mirror, staring at the teeth marks on her collarbone. The memory of Wen Wen’s ambiguous yet unmistakably excited gaze flashed through her mind and she wasn’t unaffected either.
That cry of pain earlier hadn’t been real. It was because she, too, had been aroused.
The electric jolt of stimulation had faded, leaving only restless desire simmering under her skin.
She scrutinized her reflection in the mirror. What was wrong with her?
Jiang Chi shook her head. There was nothing wrong. If her body hadn’t reacted to such provocation, that would have been abnormal!
Right now, the priority was putting out the fire!
After stepping out of the shower, Jiang Chi flopped onto the bed. Half an hour of tossing and turning later, sleep remained elusive—
She sat up abruptly, grabbed her phone, and turned on the flashlight before quietly cracking the door open to peek outside. To her surprise, a dim corner light was still on in the living room, providing enough illumination to see. Relieved, she turned off the flashlight, her gaze shifting to Wen Wen’s room across the way light still seeped from under the door!
Jiang Chi swiftly returned to the bed, snatched up a pillow, then dashed to Wen Wen’s door and knocked.
Her eyes remained fixed on the sliver of light beneath the door. By the time she knocked a second time, the light vanished instantly. She tried the doorknob locked. Left with no choice, she called out, “Jiejie, I know you’re not asleep yet.”
No response.
Jiang Chi hugged a pillow and plopped down in front of the door, shouting, “Sister, if you don’t open the door, I’ll just sleep right here in front of it.”
“I didn’t even bring a blanket or anything. It’s cold at night, and the floor is even colder. What if I catch a cold tomorrow? When I get a cold, I easily develop a high fever, and with a high fever, it’s easy to—”
Before she could finish, a voice came from inside the room: “Go back to your own room to sleep.”
“Sister, I can’t sleep. Have some pity on me. If I get a high fever, it won’t go down easily. What if I end up burning into a little fool? Will you take responsibility for me then.”
Again, she didn’t get to finish. The door swung open abruptly. Since Jiang Chi had been leaning against it, she lost her support in an instant and fell backward without warning right onto Wen Wen’s lap. Tilting her head back, she gazed up at Wen Wen with sparkling dark eyes and finished her sentence: “huh?”
