Chapter 41: I Choose My Career
Following Sang Jing’s lucky draw post, the entire internet was caught in a frenzy of retweets and prayers. Competing alongside ordinary netizens were numerous socialites and “rich second-generation” heirs.
Sang Jing’s friend, Wen Qin, was the first to join the fray, posting a screenshot of her shopping cart:
@WenQin: I want Jingjing to clear my cart too. Can our friendship buy me a “black box” (rigged) win?
Sang Jing replied: “Why does everyone want to rig the system? Can’t you rely on your own luck for once!”
The hashtag #SangJingLuckyDrawRigged# quickly climbed the trending charts. Netizens were quick to pick up on the word “everyone”—who else was asking for a back-door win?
While the wealthy heirs didn’t actually need the 10,000 yuan, the thrill of testing their “luck” became a high-stakes game among the elite. Meanwhile, many businesses saw the skyrocketing traffic on Jing-Selection and began scrambling to secure partnerships for the upcoming Lunar New Year Festival.
…
The Bitter Mother
While Jing-Selection’s reputation soared, Mrs. An was drowning in bitterness. After being grounded for over a month, she finally used a card given by her own family to rejoin her circle of wealthy socialites for afternoon tea.
To her horror, all they talked about was Sang Jing. “My husband says if I win Sang Jing’s draw, it’ll be the best marketing for our company,” one lady said. “Jing-Selection has so much traffic right now that winning would guarantee a spot on the trending list.”
Mrs. An couldn’t help but sneer, “Ten thousand yuan? How stingy. She’s actually embarrassed herself with such a small prize.”
The other ladies looked at her with disdain. One replied, “The total prize pool is over a million. You can’t give it all to one person. Besides, most of our families are working with Jing-Selection now. We want her to succeed.”
Mrs. An continued to dig her own grave, predicting the company’s imminent bankruptcy. The other women exchanged looks, silently deciding never to invite her again. She was short-sighted, bitter, and out of touch. They realized that while the An family’s biological daughter, An Siyuan, was smart enough to mend ties with Sang Jing, Mrs. An was a lost cause.

The Results Are In
When the winners were announced, Wen Qin actually won by pure luck. Sang Jing also manually tagged her assistant, Zuo Wei, announcing she was “rigging” a special extra slot for her.
The winners celebrated wildly. Several rich heirs who won decided to pass the luck along, starting their own “relay” draws: “I don’t need the money, I just wanted the bragging rights! I’m giving away 100,000 yuan—1,000 to 100 people. Retweet me!”
This “Lucky Draw Relay” turned into a massive cultural moment, driving even more traffic to Jing-Selection.

The Shura Field (The Battle of the CEOs)
However, not everyone was happy. Kou Yan was annoyed because Sang Jing hadn’t “rigged” a spot for him. Meanwhile, Yan Ye was having a mid-life crisis. Ever since the “incident” with Wu Lingshan, he had been disgusted with himself. Seeing Sang Jing shine so brightly, he suddenly felt a possessive urge. He believed Sang Jing still loved him and was only ignoring him because she was busy.
Kou Yan arrived at Sang Jing’s office building with the Husky puppy, only to run into Yan Ye in the lobby.
“What is President Kou doing at my girlfriend’s company?” Yan Ye asked, his voice dripping with territorial aggression.
Kou Yan smirked, his eyes flashing dangerously. “As far as I know, your engagement was with the eldest daughter of the An family, not Sang Jing. You two have no relationship.”
“I only recognize Sang Jing,” Yan Ye retorted. “Regardless of her status, she is my fiancée.”
The front desk staff trembled as they called Zuo Wei. When Sang Jing heard the two were fighting in the lobby, she didn’t think about romance; she thought about her brand. “They’re fighting in the lobby? That’s terrible for the company’s professional image!”
Sang Jing hurried downstairs. As soon as she appeared, the Husky puppy lunged toward her, wagging its tail. Sang Jing ignored the men and petted the dog.
Yan Ye stepped forward. “Jingjing, I’ve booked a restaurant. Let’s have dinner.”
Kou Yan scoffed. “Dinner? Shouldn’t you be busy marrying that Wu girl? Is blatant cheating your new style?”
Yan Ye glared at him and turned to Sang Jing. “I was framed, you know that.”
“I know,” Sang Jing said calmly. “I’m the one who called your mother to deal with it. But I’m too busy for dinner.”
Yan Ye grew desperate. “Jingjing, prepare yourself. We should find a time to complete our wedding.”
Sang Jing was stunned. “What wedding? You broke off the engagement with the An family. There is no wedding.”
“The engagement was always with you,” Yan Ye insisted.
Kou Yan chimed in with a lethal blow: “Even if you were framed, a man who ‘finishes the job’ in under ten minutes isn’t someone Sang Jing should marry.”
Damn! Sang Jing bit her lip to keep from laughing. Kou Yan truly was a master of psychological warfare.
Yan Ye looked ready to murder him. “Sang Jing, if you must choose between the two of us…!”
Sang Jing let out a cold laugh. “I choose my career.”
Why bother with these two dangerous men when making money was so much more satisfying? Her answer left Yan Ye’s face ashen, while Kou Yan let out a low, amused chuckle.
Kou Yan then turned to Yan Ye with a threatening gaze. “President Yan, you know I’m a madman. Sang Jing wants to work, so let’s stop bothering her. Walk out with me now, or don’t blame me for losing my mind.”
Knowing Kou Yan didn’t care about his reputation or his life, Yan Ye reluctantly left.
…
The Aftermath
Once they were gone, Zuo Wei looked at Sang Jing with stars in her eyes. “President Sang, when you said ‘I choose my career,’ you looked so cool!”
Sang Jing nodded. “Go find out where Wu Lingshan is hiding. Yan Ye clearly has too much free time on his hands.”
Later, Sang Jing saw a message from Kou Yan—a screenshot of his “rigged” request. Thinking about how he had chased Yan Ye away, she decided to be generous.
Sang Jing: “Go pick something out. I’ll clear your cart up to 10,000 yuan.”
In his car, Kou Yan smiled and petted the puppy. He felt a surge of triumph. He was clearly “different” from Yan Ye.
Unbeknownst to everyone, Kou Yan had become the greatest ally in ensuring Sang Jing completely deviated from the original tragic plot.
