Transmigrated into the Early-Deceased Alpha Fiancée of the Female Lead - Chapter 29
There was a lot to take in all at once.
Everything Senior Sister Zhu had said suddenly reminded Han Xuejin of a rumor from her previous life. It was said that a Zombie King, whose cultivation surpassed the Nascent Soul stage, would one day appear. She had never seen it herself, but if Senior Sister Zhu was saying it now, then it must be true.
If the Zombie King had truly reached the Great Ascension stage, even several Nascent Soul cultivators working together might not be able to defeat it.
Each cultivation stage was vastly different in strength. Even within the same stage, the power between individuals could vary greatly.
Han Xuejin asked at the right moment, “Senior Sister Zhu, did that expert mention the Zombie King’s cultivation level or where it might appear?”
Zhu Changxuan answered, “The Zombie King is most likely at the Great Ascension stage. It will probably appear in Tianman City. We need to strike as soon as it emerges, while it is still at its weakest, and destroy it.”
Everyone was stunned by her words. If the Zombie King truly had reached the Great Ascension stage, it could throw the entire cultivation world into chaos.
Han Xuejin said softly, “Senior Sister Zhu, your injuries have just healed. You should rest. We will take care of the rest.”
Zhu Changxuan shook her head. “No, Junior Sister Han. I have to handle this myself. Once the Zombie King appears, it will likely be surrounded by a powerful army of undead. These zombies are not easy to kill. Ordinary cultivators won’t be able to hurt them. Only the skeleton army I received can deal with them effectively. Once we take care of the lesser zombies, we can focus on the Zombie King. Otherwise, we might not even be able to get close to it. If possible, gather more Nascent Soul cultivators to fight alongside us. We will need everyone we can find.”
As Han Xuejin and Zhu Changxuan addressed each other so formally, Han Ying, Huayue, Chen Tao, and Zhu Shijing all looked at one another in confusion. For a moment, they even forgot about the crisis they were facing.
Senior Sister Zhu? Junior Sister Han?
That was not how they used to speak to each other. They had not been this distant before. Why were they acting like this after getting married? Was this some kind of strange couple behavior? The four of them silently questioned it to themselves.
Chen Tao and Zhu Shijing were both happy to see their daughter grow stronger, but they still hoped she would rely on them a little more.
Han Ying felt that Zhu Changxuan was finally becoming more dependable and might now be worthy of her daughter. But if she was this capable, did that mean Han Ying could no longer guide her in cultivation? Not that she had wanted to teach her anyway.
Huayue was the only one who stayed focused. She said seriously, “Changxuan, you are right. If the Zombie King is truly at the Great Ascension stage, we must bring in more cultivators if we want a real chance at defeating it.”
Han Ying nodded. “I will send word to my Left and Right Guardians. They were in Tianman City recently. I will have them wait there for us. Both are quite skilled and can be helpful.”
Han Ying did not know what had happened between Zhu Changxuan and Han Xuejin in Tianman City. Her wife and daughter had returned already, and she had not paid attention to what the Guardians were doing.
But Han Xuejin’s voice turned cold. “We do not need them.”
Han Ying looked confused. “Why not? They are both peak Core Formation stage, almost at the Nascent Soul level. They can at least help a little.”
Thinking back to what had happened, Han Xuejin pressed her lips together before speaking. “Senior Sister Zhu and I encountered them while we were in Tianman City.”
Before she could finish, Han Ying’s face darkened and she stood up quickly.
“Snowjin, did they bother you? Did they act inappropriately? How dare they.”
Her daughter was an outstanding omega. Those two alphas probably could not control their vulgar thoughts. If they had dared to hurt her daughter, even if they were her trusted Guardians, she would never forgive them.
Han Xuejin said quietly, “They both had improper intentions toward Senior Sister Zhu.”
Han Ying was stunned. “What? But they are both alphas.”
She turned slowly to look at Zhu Changxuan. Her expression remained calm, but her beauty was breathtaking. It was the kind of grace that outshone even the celestial beings.
Han Ying was speechless and slowly sat back down.
Huayue blinked and whispered, “That is a lot to process.”
Chen Tao and Zhu Shijing had no words either.
They quietly blamed themselves for having such a beautiful daughter. It seemed beauty really did attract trouble.
Zhu Shijing finally broke the silence. “I will send messages to the various sects and clans. We can ask all the Nascent Soul cultivators who are willing to join us to come help.”
Everyone agreed with the plan.
After taking some time to rest and prepare, the six of them boarded a high-grade flying vessel from the Demon Realm and began their journey to Tianman City.
Flying on a sword would take about six days, but the flying vessel took ten. Still, it was far more comfortable and convenient.
There were many rooms on board. Seeing the sadness in Han Xuejin’s eyes, Zhu Changxuan reluctantly agreed to share a room with her. Since they were already married, sleeping separately might raise questions from their parents.
Han Ying had originally wanted to send demon soldiers with them, but Zhu Changxuan persuaded her not to. Demon soldiers would not stand a chance against the undead and would only suffer meaningless casualties.
Han Ying quietly accepted this decision.
At night, the sky was calm and full of stars. The flying vessel glided silently through the air, heading swiftly toward Tianman City.
Zhu Changxuan sat quietly on a meditation cushion. Over the past few days, she had been feeling anxious. It felt like something terrible had already happened in Tianman City, or perhaps that a great change had already begun in the cultivation world.
Although they were sharing a room, Han Xuejin sat alone on the bed, watching Zhu Changxuan meditate in silence. She felt cold and distant.
Over the past few days, Zhu Changxuan had remained like this. They barely spoke more than a few words each day.
She was clearly the same person, but also completely different.
This made Han Xuejin feel deeply hurt and lost.
Changxuan… who are you now?
Zhu Changxuan had been trying to ignore Han Xuejin’s intense gaze for several days. But now, it was impossible. Han Xuejin had been staring at her for two whole hours. A few days ago, she only glanced at her occasionally. Zhu Changxuan was beginning to wonder if her junior sister had gone mad.
She stood up and looked at Han Xuejin’s wounded expression.
“Junior Sister Han, I…” I should probably sleep in another room.
But when she saw Han Xuejin’s teary eyes and fragile expression, Zhu Changxuan could not finish her sentence. She had not expected someone who seemed so cold to feel so deeply inside.
Han Xuejin tried to steady herself and asked, “Senior Sister Zhu, is something wrong?”
Zhu Changxuan sighed softly and gave a gentle excuse. “Junior Sister Han, my personality now is a little different from before. It might be something like a split personality. Once this crisis with the zombies is over, I should return to how I was before.”
Han Xuejin was surprised. “Is that true?”
Zhu Changxuan walked over to her and gently raised her hand, softly brushing her hand over Han Xuejin’s head.
“Yes. Once all of this is over, everything will be alright. You don’t need to worry.”
Han Xuejin stared at her, feeling the warmth of her touch. Even though this version of her felt a bit unfamiliar, there was still something deeply comforting in it. Her anxious heart finally began to calm.
“Alright.”
As the flying vessel drew near Tianman City, everyone aboard could feel that something was off. The area around them was unnaturally silent, devoid of life and sound.
At that moment, not far from the city, Si Chou and Song Yidao were flying away on their swords. They spotted a familiar flying vessel in the distance. Recognizing it as the Demon Lord’s personal vessel, Si Chou was shocked.
Could the Demon Lord be here in person?
This was bad. She needed to inform her right away. Tianman City had turned into a living nightmare and was no longer a place they could enter without grave risk.
Zhu Changxuan and the others on the vessel also sensed that something was wrong. One by one, they stepped out of their rooms and gathered on the deck.
Above Tianman City, in the near distance, an immense cloud of dark energy hovered in the sky. It was heavy and oppressive, making it difficult to breathe.
Si Chou and Song Yidao flew quickly toward the vessel.
It really was the Demon Lord, along with Zhu Changxuan and several unfamiliar figures.
Everyone on board turned their attention to the two approaching cultivators.
Si Chou bowed deeply and addressed her with respect. “Demon Lord.”
Song Yidao, meanwhile, was secretly stunned. So this was the infamous Demon Lord? But what was Zhu Changxuan doing here? And who were these other people? Wait a moment. That omega beside her looked like the one who had taken Zhu Changxuan away back in Tianman City. Were they a couple now?
She ignored the Demon Lord. Their sect had no direct conflicts with the Demon Realm. Normally, when they encountered people from the Demon Realm, they simply pretended not to notice.
She gave a polite greeting to the one person she recognized. “Junior Sister Zhu.”
Zhu Changxuan, calm and composed, returned the gesture with a small nod. She recognized them from the time her other self had interacted with them.
“Senior Sister Song. Fellow Daoist Si.”
Both Si Chou and Song Yidao were stunned. Zhu Changxuan’s demeanor was cold and formal, completely different from how she used to be. And more importantly, they could not see through her cultivation at all.
Si Chou narrowed her eyes. Something was wrong. She was acting far too serious.
Song Yidao was also puzzled. This was not the Zhu Changxuan she remembered. That version of her had been charming and approachable, not distant and unreadable.
Sensing the change in their expressions, Han Xuejin silently stepped forward and stood in front of Zhu Changxuan, blocking their view. Her expression was calm but firm. She cast a cold glance at Si Chou.
Si Chou felt annoyed and was about to say something when the Demon Lord’s voice rang out, sharp and chilling.
“Right Guardian, do you have a problem with my son-in-law Zhu Changxuan? Or are you thinking of something else?”
Her tone was filled with warning. Her daughter had already mentioned that Si Chou had been looking at Zhu Changxuan inappropriately. If she dared to act on it, even being one of her trusted guards would not protect her.
Si Chou froze, completely confused. “Son-in-law?”
Zhu Changxuan?
That was impossible.
The Demon Lord, Han Ying, calmly explained. Han Xuejin was her daughter, and she and Zhu Changxuan were now officially married.
Si Chou quickly bowed again. “Demon Lord, you misunderstand.”
She then launched into a sincere and lengthy explanation of her loyalty and innocence. Her tone was respectful, and she made sure to greet Han Xuejin, Huayue, and the others properly as well.
Zhu Shijing and Chen Tao had remained quiet up until now. But after introducing themselves, Song Yidao could no longer contain her excitement. She respectfully greeted the two legendary figures. Although she had never met them before, their accomplishments were well known across the cultivation world.
After a few short exchanges of greetings, the group quickly turned to the urgent matter at hand.
Si Chou began explaining what had happened in Tianman City over the past few days. Her words were shocking, revealing a situation far worse than any of them had expected.
After escaping from the Demon Realm, Lian Li had not waited. He returned to a hidden location near Tianman City and opened a secret underground chamber that he had prepared over a hundred years ago. Inside were more than one thousand powerful zombies that he had been raising and refining in secret.
He released them all at once. The zombies launched an immediate assault on Tianman City.
Although there were many cultivators in the city, they soon discovered that ordinary attacks could not harm these undead creatures. Many were killed in the first wave. The rest fled in panic.
In just two days, the city had completely fallen.
As the slaughter continued, the entire city was filled with heavy death energy. That dark aura gathered and gave birth to the Zombie King, whose strength reached the Great Ascension stage. At the same time, Lian Li’s own power surged. He had now reached the peak of the Nascent Soul stage and was only half a step away from breaking through.
After the Zombie King awakened, all the other zombies became stronger and faster. Even cultivators who came later to help were unable to fight back effectively.
Several sects that Zhu Shijing had contacted had already sent their Nascent Soul stage elders to investigate the city. Unfortunately, they were completely outmatched. One of the elders, who was at the peak of the Nascent Soul stage, was killed by the Zombie King. The others barely escaped, and all were injured.
The Zombie King then made a public declaration of war against all the sects in the cultivation world. He challenged anyone who dared to fight him to come forward. Those who were too afraid could choose to surrender. Otherwise, he would lead his undead army to wipe out every sect that refused.
The more informed sects were already in chaos. They knew that the most powerful cultivators in the current world were only at the peak of the Nascent Soul stage, and even one of them had already fallen.
Inside many sects, people were divided. Some wanted to stand and fight no matter what. Others were already considering surrendering as the only way to survive. Tensions ran high, and fear had taken over. The entire cultivation world was in complete disorder.
After Si Chou finished explaining, Zhu Changxuan and the others remained silent. Their faces were serious, and the atmosphere grew heavy.
None of them had expected that in just ten short days aboard the flying vessel, Tianman City, and perhaps the entire cultivation world, would have changed so drastically.
