Transmigrated into the Early-Deceased Alpha Fiancée of the Female Lead - Chapter 27
Zhu Changxuan looked up with a cold and distant gaze as the others arrived. A black puffball and a small yellow chick rushed toward her excitedly.
Yu Meiren shouted, “Master!”
Sui Sheng called out, “Xuanxuan!”
Zhu Changxuan sighed inwardly and caught both spirit pets in her arms, one in each hand.
Han Xuejin descended from her sword, Qian Po. Her heavy thoughts were momentarily lifted, and she was just about to embrace the person she had longed for. But when she saw Zhu Changxuan’s eyes, devoid of warmth or recognition, her steps halted.
Though Zhu Changxuan stood right in front of her, she somehow felt painfully far away.
Yu Meiren and Sui Sheng glanced at Zhu Changxuan with confusion. Something felt different, but they couldn’t tell what. Her aura hadn’t changed. It was clearly Zhu Changxuan.
Han Xuejin’s lips, painted with deep red lipstick for the wedding, parted slightly. She wanted to call Zhu Changxuan’s name but found herself unable to speak beneath the weight of that cold expression.
Zhu Changxuan glanced at the woman in red wedding robes, her features beautiful and vibrant. Yet she showed no joy or sorrow. Her voice was emotionless as she spoke.
“Junior Sister Han.”
The words hit Han Xuejin like a blow. A flicker of unknown emotion passed through her eyes. Instinctively, she replied, “Senior Sister Zhu…”
This version of Zhu Changxuan felt like the person she used to know—distant and indifferent, untouched by anything in the world.
Yu Meiren and Sui Sheng looked at each other in confusion. Why were they calling each other so formally? Was this some strange role-play between them?
Zhu Changxuan turned her eyes away from Han Xuejin’s stunned expression and looked ahead.
“Let’s return.”
That one sentence jolted Han Xuejin. Her mind flashed back to a distant memory. Zhu Changxuan had once spoken the same way, just like this…
After speaking, Zhu Changxuan calmly walked past her, still holding Yu Meiren and Sui Sheng in her arms, not once looking back.
She took only a few steps before her body gave out. Her vision darkened, and she collapsed to the ground.
Han Xuejin immediately rushed forward and caught her. Zhu Changxuan had lost consciousness. Her face was pale, and the wound on her chest was deep and serious.
Han Xuejin quickly checked her pulse. She was poisoned.
Without hesitation, she began to pour spiritual energy into Zhu Changxuan to heal her wounds and temporarily suppress the spread of the poison. Then she picked her up, stored the two spirit pets into her spatial ring, and took off toward the Demon Realm on her sword.
Yu Meiren, now inside the storage space, stared at Sui Sheng with a blank expression. Sui Sheng had already gotten to work, clawing through storage items and pulling out pill bottles with practiced ease. She pecked one open and began eating the pills cheerfully.
Yu Meiren blinked in shock.
“Are you sure it’s safe to eat like that?”
As they flew, Han Xuejin kept recalling that cold and distant word—return. Her thoughts drifted to her childhood.
She had been twelve at the time. After her engagement to Zhu Changxuan, the other disciples had begun bullying her, especially because of the birthmark on her face. They ordered her to fetch water as a test.
Living under someone else’s roof, she could only endure it in silence.
That day, she had finished fetching water when dark clouds suddenly rolled in, and a heavy rain began to fall.
She slipped and fell, landing on her knees. Rain mixed with the tears on her face, making it impossible to tell them apart.
She heard footsteps behind her but was too exhausted to care. Then, she realized the rain had stopped falling on her.
Turning around, she saw someone holding an umbrella over her. It was Zhu Changxuan.
To Han Xuejin, her senior sister had always been the most beautiful person she had ever seen, as untouchable as a fairy from a dream.
Now that fairy stood behind her, silently sheltering her from the rain.
“Senior Sister Zhu…”
At that moment, her young heart stirred with something unfamiliar. She thought, maybe this is what falling in love feels like.
Zhu Changxuan handed her another umbrella, her face still expressionless.
“Let’s go.”
Han Xuejin hesitated, then slowly got up and took the umbrella.
Zhu Changxuan walked beside her all the way back without saying a word.
When they arrived, Han Xuejin hurried to thank her.
“Senior Sister Zhu, thank you.”
Zhu Changxuan did not look back. With her back to her, she said calmly,
“You don’t need to do these things anymore. I won’t help you again. Focus on your cultivation and take care of yourself.”
With that, she walked away.
Han Xuejin watched her until her figure disappeared into the distance.
Not long after, Zhu Changxuan fell seriously ill. They said it was because she had caught a cold that day. Han Xuejin blamed herself deeply, believing it was because she had stood in the rain to find her.
At the time, Zhu Changxuan refused to see anyone except the elders. Han Xuejin wasn’t even allowed to visit.
The feelings that had just begun to blossom inside her were quickly buried by the weight of reality.
Now, looking down at Zhu Changxuan in her arms, Han Xuejin held her tighter. Her eyes filled with unease and panic.
You once said you would never go back to how you used to be. Then why did you just look at me like that?
Biting her lip, she quickened her pace, flying faster through the skies.
After a while, she suddenly realized she had no idea how to get out of the Ghost Domain.
She immediately pulled Sui Sheng out and ordered it to guide the way.
When they finally returned to the Demon Realm, the demon soldiers were relieved to see their young lady. They quickly bowed in greeting.
Han Xuejin told them to inform Han Ying, Zhu Shijing, and the others that she had found Zhu Changxuan.
Then she went straight to their wedding chamber.
Once there, she gently laid Zhu Changxuan on the bed.
She removed her wedding robe and saw the deep sword wound on her chest and the blood that had dried around it. Her heart trembled. It felt as though the blade had pierced her own heart.
“I won’t let anything happen to you.”
She wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes. Using a cleansing spell, she washed the blood from Zhu Changxuan’s body and changed her clothes. Then she sat beside her and began to channel spiritual energy to treat her.
Time passed slowly. Han Xuejin had already healed most of the wound, but the poison remained strong and difficult to purge.
Just as she was asking Sui Sheng how to remove the poison, Han Ying and the others rushed into the room.
Zhu Shijing and Chen Tao arrived and saw Han Xuejin pale with worry, still pouring her strength into Zhu Changxuan.
Han Ying and Hua Yue also entered and frowned deeply at the scene.
Chen Tao’s face was filled with concern.
“Xuejin… how is our Changxuan?”
Zhu Shijing gently patted Chen Tao’s shoulder, then stepped forward quickly.
“Xuejin, you should rest. Let me check on Xuanchuan’s condition.”
Han Xuejin paused and nodded. She explained Zhu Changxuan’s current state, thinking Elder Zhu might have a way to treat her.
When Zhu Shijing examined the poison in Zhu Changxuan’s body, his brow furrowed.
“This is Bianjian poison. Fortunately, when her mother and I were out gathering herbs, we happened to find the antidote for it.”
Han Xuejin finally relaxed. She let out a deep breath, relieved that there was a cure.
Zhu Shijing quickly retrieved the antidote from his storage space and gave it to Zhu Changxuan.
Han Ying looked at his daughter’s pale face and then at Zhu Changxuan lying unconscious on the bed. After saying a few gentle words to comfort Han Xuejin, he left the room with Hua Yue.
Outside, Han Ying’s expression darkened. He summoned Chuanping and the others, ordering them to investigate everything that had happened during the wedding. He told them to find out who had access to Bianjian poison.
Eventually, all signs pointed to Bi Ci, who had disappeared without a trace.
Han Ying’s voice grew cold.
“Bring Bi Ci back to me. If she is alive, I want to see her. If she is dead, bring her body.”
“Yes, sir.” Chuanping and the others left and began organizing a search to track her down.
Hua Yue shook her head with worry, her expression filled with sorrow.
Zhu Shijing and Chen Tao wanted to stay by their daughter’s side until she woke, but when they noticed that this was the couple’s wedding chamber, they hesitated.
Chen Tao asked softly,
“Xuejin, do you want to rest for a bit?”
Han Xuejin shook her head.
“I will stay here with Changxuan.”
Zhu Shijing sighed.
“Then we will go rest. If anything happens, call for us. We will be staying in the East Pavilion.”
The East Pavilion was close by. Han Ying had arranged it as their temporary residence.
Han Xuejin nodded.
“Alright. Please get some rest.”
Zhu Shijing smiled.
“Xuejin, stop calling us Elders. From now on, we are your father and mother.”
Chen Tao nodded warmly.
“That’s right.”
Han Xuejin’s fingers twitched slightly. She looked at them and replied with quiet sincerity,
“Father. Mother.”
Zhu Shijing and Chen Tao nodded in approval and then left the room.
Inside Zhu Changxuan’s sea of consciousness, a breathtakingly beautiful woman floated on the surface of a still lake. She appeared to be speaking idly with someone.
Suddenly, a figure who looked exactly like her appeared before her.
Zhu Changxuan immediately stood up and ran toward the figure.
“You must be the other version of me that Tong Shifeng mentioned.”
The other Zhu Changxuan gave a small nod.
When Zhu Changxuan first entered this spiritual space, Tong Shifeng had appeared and explained a few things to her. Although he seemed to be hiding something, she had figured out that the original owner of this body was actually still her.
She looked at the other version from head to toe.
“You are really beautiful, but your expression is too cold and you never smile. That’s a shame, because you look even more charming when you do.”
She reached out and gently touched her double’s soft cheek.
The other Zhu Changxuan remained silent.
Zhu Changxuan’s expression turned serious.
“I think we should merge our memories. Maybe I’ll get to see what Xuejin was like as a child.”
The other Zhu Changxuan frowned.
“No. I will use this body for a little while longer, then return it to you. After that, you do not need to worry about me. I will no longer use the body.”
Zhu Changxuan was confused.
“You won’t use the body anymore? Do you mean you will stay here forever?”
The other version remained silent for a moment.
“Yes.”
Zhu Changxuan shook her head.
“No way. Staying here alone would drive anyone crazy.”
Tong Shifeng spoke from nearby.
“I am still here.”
Zhu Changxuan glanced at him and replied with all honesty,
“But you are not always around. Talking to a stick all day will make me lose my mind.”
Tong Shifeng had nothing to say.
The other Zhu Changxuan lowered her gaze.
“We will deal with the future later. For now, I need to use this body a bit longer.”
Seeing how stubborn she was, Zhu Changxuan gave in for now.
“Alright.”
She hesitated, then spoke again with some awkwardness.
“Beautiful me, you’re not planning to do anything with Xuejin while using the body, right? I would feel like I was cheating on myself, and that would be very uncomfortable. Maybe we should wait until we merge memories.”
The other Zhu Changxuan cut her off coldly.
“Stop. I will not do anything like that.”
Zhu Changxuan touched her long hair and smiled with curved eyes. She trusted herself.
“By the way, what kind of deal did you make with that skeleton general? Tong Shifeng refuses to tell me anything.”
The other Zhu Changxuan replied calmly.
“You do not need to know.”
Zhu Changxuan opened her mouth to ask more, but the other one interrupted again.
“You stay here for now. I will handle everything and let you out soon.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the other Zhu Changxuan vanished.
Zhu Changxuan reached out instinctively.
“Hey, why did you leave so quickly? Why won’t you merge with me?”
Tong Shifeng let out a long, troubled sigh.
“This is exactly what I was afraid of.”
