Transmigrated Into The Boss's Marriage Partner - Chapter 7
Su Youqi confirmed with Wang Ce: “Did you guys really watch me enter the training room? What about the surveillance footage? I remember every building in the school has cameras. Since you’re so certain I went there, you must have pulled the surveillance footage from the school to check, right?”
Who would have thought that upon hearing Su Youqi’s words, Wang Ce would become even more indignant? “Surveillance? The surveillance for that training room building happened to be broken right on the training room floor! You definitely planned this in advance to sabotage the surveillance, and then deliberately let us see you so you could lure Brother Jie over and push him down the building for revenge!”
Su Youqi thought to himself that this was absurd.
“Your imagination is so rich; you truly belong in our Performance Department!” Su Youqi gave Wang Ce a thumbs-up and asked with keen interest: “Just assuming what you said is true, we’re classmates in the same department, and I appear in various places around the school every day. How could you be so sure that seeing me go to the training room would make you find Huang Jie to mess with me? And how could I possibly be certain that only Huang Jie would show up? Or do you think I possess such incredible power that I can control you guys into not following Huang Jie last night?”
Wang Ce replied: “You’re so good at fighting, even if we followed Brother Jie, we wouldn’t be able to stop you!”
Su Youqi was left speechless. “Then that means I would push Huang Jie down the building right in front of you all? If I had that kind of determination, why would I go to all the trouble of sabotaging the surveillance? Your logic doesn’t hold up, classmate!” Su Youqi tapped his own head and mocked, “Use your brain more, classmate. You’re at least at X University, so stop acting like an intellectual disability.”
Huang Jie’s parents on the side were starting to waver, but Wang Ce remained firm: “Who knows what you were thinking, but we all saw you yesterday. Don’t even think about denying it!”
“You moron! You won’t give up until you hit a brick wall!” Guan Hongyu couldn’t stand it anymore. He pulled out his phone and dialed the director via video call.
The director looked like he had just woken up: “Xiaoyu? Is there something you need from Uncle?”
Without beating around the bush, Guan Hongyu went straight to the point: “Uncle, let me ask you something. Did our Third Brother film night scenes with the production crew all night last night?”
The director replied: “That’s right. Didn’t I already tell you yesterday?”
Guan Hongyu deliberately raised his voice: “Are you sure he didn’t leave the production crew for even a second the whole night? Especially around eight to nine o’clock?”
The director found it a bit strange, but still answered: “Of course. Eight to ten o’clock are all key scenes for Su Youqi’s entire role. If he dares to leave, I’ll break his legs!”
“Alright, thanks Uncle!” Guan Hongyu hung up the line and gave Wang Ce and Huang Jie’s parents a look of mild mockery: “Did you hear that? If you people still insist that our Third Brother pushed Huang Jie under these circumstances, feel free to call the police. The school’s surveillance might be broken, but the production crew’s cameras definitely aren’t! The crew has tons of cameras and plenty of people everywhere, and they can all prove our Third Brother’s innocence!”
When Guan Hongyu was on the video call earlier, Huang Jie’s parents had taken the opportunity to sneak a peek. Being somewhat familiar with the entertainment industry, they recognized that the person on screen was a fairly well-known director. Wang Ce had told them about Su Youqi’s background, and Huang Jie’s parents believed that a director of that caliber wouldn’t risk his reputation to provide a false alibi for Su Youqi.
Besides, Guan Hongyu was right; a police investigation would immediately reveal whether Su Youqi was on set last night.
Regardless of whether Su Youqi did it or not, Huang Jie’s parents felt a burning, itching hatred toward Su Youqi as the root cause. If their son hadn’t tried to mess with Su Youqi, he wouldn’t have gone to the training room last night and wouldn’t have fallen off the building!
This textbook victim-blaming mentality was truly something else. They certainly deserved to be the parents who raised someone like Huang Jie.
Huang Jie’s father cast a cold glance at Su Youqi and dropped a harsh threat: “We’ve already called the police. Not a single person who had a hand in harming my son will escape!” With that, he led the rather reluctant Huang Jie’s mother away.
Wang Ce hadn’t expected Huang Jie’s parents, who doted on their son like their own lives, to back down so easily. After calling out a few times to no avail, he turned to Su Youqi with bitter resentment: “Su Youqi, you really have some nerve now, actually managing to find so many people to provide fake alibis for you! But don’t celebrate too early; Uncle and Auntie have already called the police, and the officers will be here right away. By then, they’ll definitely uncover that you’re lying!”
With that, Wang Ce hurried off to chase after Huang Jie’s parents.
What Wang Ce didn’t know was that Huang Jie’s parents hadn’t simply let Su Youqi off the hook. In their minds, Su Youqi could be squashed like an ant at any time, but their immediate priority was finding the real culprit who harmed their son.
Guan Hongyu slammed the dormitory door shut, turned around, and grumbled, “I honestly don’t even want to talk anymore. Is Wang Ce out of his mind trying to frame you? I even made a video call to Uncle Li with the evidence laid out right in plain sight, and he still dares to frame you!”
Su Youqi didn’t take the matter to heart at all: “Let him be. Investigating cases is up to the police officers anyway. It has nothing to do with me; the whole production crew can vouch for my innocence.”
“That’s true.” Guan Hongyu draped an arm over Su Youqi’s shoulder and said with lingering fear, “Good thing you moved into our dorm. Look at those toxic people like Huang Jie and Wang Ce. Getting mixed up with them is truly bad luck!”
Su Youqi agreed: “You said it!” These roommates were a million times better than Huang Jie’s bunch.
Guan Hongyu had a sudden flash of inspiration: “Do you think this matter has something to do with Wang Ce, which is why he’s in such a rush to pin it on you?”
Su Youqi smiled faintly: “Who knows?”
Su Youqi lowered his head, masking the thoughts swirling in his eyes, and thought to himself that perhaps Wang Ce wasn’t lying. He might have genuinely seen him.
Or perhaps, what he saw went far beyond that.
Before long, the police arrived at Su Youqi’s dorm again to conduct an investigation. Su Youqi honestly recounted his whereabouts from the previous night, provided the director’s contact information and the production crew’s location, and the police quickly verified it, proving Su Youqi’s innocence.
Huang Jie’s parents temporarily shifted their focus away from Su Youqi.
However, as Su Youqi had anticipated, Wang Ce reacted as if he couldn’t accept reality, yelling frantically: “Impossible, it’s impossible! We clearly saw him!”
The information Wang Ce provided was false and had lost its utility value to Huang Jie’s parents, leading them to lose patience with him: “Alright, Classmate Wang, whatever personal grudges you have, resolve them privately. Please stop hindering the police from investigating the case right now! If too much time is wasted on irrelevant people and the person who harmed Xiao Jie gets away, can you bear that responsibility?”
“Uncle, Auntie, I’m not lying. Please believe me, I really saw Su Youqi last night! If you don’t believe me, you can go ask Xiaobin and Guangzi; they both saw him too!” Wang Ce explained frantically.
Even the police officer in charge of the case couldn’t watch any longer and spoke sternly to Wang Ce: “This student, we’ve already taken statements from those two students. They only said they saw someone who looked a lot like Su Youqi, but it was too dark to be certain if they were mistaken. Now the production crew has provided Su Youqi’s alibi, complete with human witnesses and video footage. Therefore, please stop bringing personal emotions into this case and framing an innocent student.”
“No, Officer, I really saw him! You have to believe me, I saw…” Wang Ce shouted anxiously halfway through, but suddenly choked on his words and let his head drop in utter dejection.
Everyone else simply assumed he had run out of lies to make up. Huang Jie’s parents also left with the police officer, and no one listened to Wang Ce anymore.
Left standing all by himself in the same spot, Wang Ce muttered in disappointment: “Why won’t anyone believe me? I really saw Su Youqi. I even saw him…”
“Did you see me push Huang Jie down the building?” Su Youqi suddenly materialized out of nowhere, seamlessly mirroring Wang Ce’s muttering.
Wang Ce was startled by Su Youqi, but once he processed what Su Youqi had just said, he pointed a finger at him and accused, “You finally admit it!”
Su Youqi didn’t answer him directly, instead offering: “Let me guess. Last night, did you secretly follow Huang Jie to the training room, and then witness how he was pushed off the building, only you were too cowardly, got too scared, and didn’t dare go up to save him?” Su Youqi closed in on Wang Ce: “And now, you’re terrified that Huang Jie’s parents will find out you didn’t save their son and take their anger out on you, so you’re even more afraid to tell the truth?”
Having his inner thoughts guessed correctly, Wang Ce wore a look of sheer terror: “You actually knew I was there last night!”
Su Youqi’s guess was entirely spot on. Wang Ce had indeed watched Huang Jie get pushed down by Su Youqi at that moment, and after Huang Jie was pushed over, he even felt that Su Youqi had glanced toward his hiding spot, terrifying him into bolting away in a panic.
That was why the other two underlings only dared to say that the person looked very much like Su Youqi, whereas Wang Ce was certain it was Su Youqi and kept insisting that Su Youqi had pushed Huang Jie, all because he had seen it.
“As I thought.” Su Youqi verified the hypothesis in his own mind. At this point, he roughly understood what was going on.
Not knowing what Su Youqi was up to by making him admit this, Wang Ce grew vigilant and demanded: “Su Youqi, let’s stop playing games. I don’t know how you tricked Auntie, Uncle, and the police, but don’t even think about escaping legal punishment just like that. I will definitely find evidence to expose you!”
Seeing Wang Ce act like this, Su Youqi’s playful streak flared up. His expression turned grim and sinister as he whispered menacingly: “Wang Ce, since I was able to push Huang Jie down, you’re provoking me like this. Aren’t you afraid I’ll finish you off along with him?” As he spoke, Su Youqi even mimicked a pushing motion, scaring Wang Ce into taking step after step backward, terrified that Su Youqi might actually lay a hand on him.
Frightened out of his wits, Wang Ce stammered: “Su Youqi, don’t do anything rash! It’s broad daylight, people walk by here all the time. If you try anything, I’ll scream for help!”
Looking at his reaction, it was confirmed that he was thoroughly terrified.
Tsk, wasn’t he acting all high and mighty when bullying the original body before?
Su Youqi looked down on people like Wang Ce from the bottom of his heart.
“Alright, stop acting like such a coward. I never admitted to pushing Huang Jie, and the police officers aren’t that easy to fool either. I was indeed filming on set the whole night yesterday; I simply didn’t have the time to go push Huang Jie.”
Wang Ce retorted: “Then who did I see last night?”
Having had his fun, Su Youqi decided to lay his cards on the table. He leaned right up to Wang Ce’s ear and whispered, “Who you saw, of course, was a ghost.”
