Transmigrated Into The Boss's Marriage Partner - Chapter 4
“That’s right, you’re so smart.” Su Youqi nodded, forming a very positive first impression of his new roommate.
He had clear, upright features, a gentle temperament, and a faint golden aura of virtue surrounding him. At a glance, he looked like a kind, gentle person who constantly did good deeds.
“No, the dorm supervisor told me yesterday that you would be moving in today.” Zhu Wenyu confirmed Su Youqi’s identity, put down his pen, stood up, and walked to the doorway to help Su Youqi with his belongings. “I’ll help you with that. Oh, I haven’t introduced myself yet. My name is Zhu Wenyu, and I’m from the History Department.”
Su Youqi was a bit surprised. “Aren’t you from the Performance Department?” Students from the same department were usually assigned to the same dorm in this school.
“Well, because dorms are in high demand, they just mixed us up. But I’m the only one from the History Department; the other three of you are from the Performance Department,” Zhu Wenyu explained.
Su Youqi nodded. “I see.”
It was a four-person dorm with only one empty bed, which undoubtedly belonged to Su Youqi.
The two of them carried all the items to that bed frame and worked together to make the bed and arrange their belongings.
Su Youqi casually touched the edge of the bed; there wasn’t a speck of dust, and it was extremely clean. It seemed someone had cleaned it for him in advance.
Taking out the newly bought bedsheets and quilt, Su Youqi asked while unpacking, “By the way, Wenyu, you’re alone in the dorm, where are the other two? Did they go to class?”
“No, both of them took on acting roles and asked the school for leave to join the production crew. They said they’d be shooting for a week. They left last Tuesday, so counting the days, they should be back tomorrow,” Zhu Wenyu replied.
Those two had been gone for six days, which meant Zhu Wenyu must have done the cleaning for him. He truly was a kind person.
Perhaps the dorm supervisor had hinted to Zhu Wenyu about Su Youqi’s situation in his previous dorm, so Zhu Wenyu, afraid that Su Youqi might be worried about the other two’s character, took the initiative to reassure him: “Don’t worry, both of them are very easy to get along with.”
Su Youqi knew Zhu Wenyu had misunderstood, but he didn’t plan to explain. He just nodded in response.
After placing some small items, Zhu Wenyu looked up and saw Su Youqi’s clumsy attempts to unpack the quilt. Smiling, he took the arduous task from Su Youqi’s hands. “Let me do it. I make beds often and I’m quite used to it.”
“Thanks, then.” Su Youqi had been quite wealthy before and had hired helpers at home, so he genuinely wasn’t skilled at these chores.
With Zhu Wenyu’s help, the two of them quickly tidied up everything.
Having worked busily all morning, it was almost lunchtime, and Su Youqi was starving. To express his gratitude to Zhu Wenyu, Su Youqi decided to treat him to a meal.
Before treating someone, Su Youqi first asked for Zhu Wenyu’s opinion: “Wenyu, what do you like to eat?”
“I’m fine with anything; I’m not a picky eater. We can eat whatever you like,” Zhu Wenyu answered, acting like the good person he was. Since he wasn’t yet very familiar with Su Youqi, he habitually handed the choice back to him.
Su Youqi thought this person was truly adorable and pressed on: “Wenyu, you don’t need to be so polite with me. From now on, we’re roommates, so we should get to know each other better.”
“That’s true.” Zhu Wenyu felt Su Youqi made sense, so he thought for a moment and said, “There’s a Sichuan restaurant near the school that’s pretty good. The three of us used to go there often, except their dishes tend to be quite spicy. I wonder if you can handle spicy food?”
Su Youqi readily agreed: “Sure, let’s go to that one. It seems we share similar tastes; I like spicy food too.”
With a common hobby, the topics of conversation between the two multiplied. A guy’s friendship comes easy. After finishing this meal, the two had already progressed from calling each other Wenyu and Youqi to Wenwen and Youyou.
“Wenwen, should we buy some fruit to take back?” Because they couldn’t carry much when shopping in the morning, Su Youqi had only bought daily necessities and zero food.
Zhu Wenyu led him to the fruit shop they frequented: “The fruit there is very fresh, and the boss is nice. He never shorts you on weight, and our dorm always buys from there.”
Su Youqi asked curiously, “I’ve noticed that the three of you in your dorm must have a really good relationship.” They often went to eat meals together and even bought fruit together.
“Yeah, Hongyu comes from a wealthy family, and while he might look a bit arrogant, once you get to know him, you realize he doesn’t have any young master airs at all. He often brings us delicious treats,” Zhu Wenyu nodded, introducing them to Su Youqi. “As for Xingye, he’s more mature and steady. He has good grades, a sharp mind, and is our dorm leader. He thinks of everything thoroughly and has…”
“Su Youqi, stop right there!” Zhu Wenyu’s words were interrupted by a group of fierce-looking people.
The two had wanted to take a shortcut and turn from a small alley toward the fruit shop, only to find themselves intercepted right in the middle.
“It’s you guys.” Su Youqi turned sideways to shield Zhu Wenyu behind him. Seeing that the ringleaders were those two scum, Huang Jie and Wang Ce, he immediately knew what they were up to.
This time, the two had brought a large crowd with them. Although Su Youqi was confident he could get out unscathed, Zhu Youqi was right beside him, and he worried this sweet, well-behaved person might get hurt. He originally intended to tell Zhu Wenyu to run first, but unexpectedly, Zhu Wenyu stepped in front of him instead, looking fiercely at the group: “Who are you people? In broad daylight, what do you think you’re doing?”
Huang Jie and his crew hadn’t expected that the seemingly docile Zhu Wenyu would have the guts to shield that good-for-nothing, and mocked him: “Where did this little weakling come from? Don’t say I didn’t warn you. If you don’t want to get beaten up together with him, get lost right now.”
“No way! Youyou is my friend, and I’m going to protect him!” Zhu Wenyu flatly refused.
However, Huang Jie and Wang Ce had brought over a dozen people, and knowing he couldn’t win, Zhu Wenyu whispered to Su Youqi: “Youyou, there are too many of them, I definitely can’t beat them. In a moment, you run first and go find the security guards to save me!”
The police station was too far away, but the school wasn’t, so Zhu Wenyu wanted Su Youqi to run back to the school for help, believing he could barely stall until reinforcements arrived. He only hoped Youyou could run fast, or that passersby outside would dare to intervene.
“Since you little punk don’t know what’s good for you, don’t blame us for hitting you together with him.” Huang Jie had come for revenge in the first place. Since Zhu Wenyu was ungrateful and refused a toast only to drink a forfeit, he lacked the patience to mince words and beckoned to his men: “Brothers, get him! Beat them both up!”
“No problem, Brother Jie!” The group cracked their knuckles and walked toward the two of them.
The situation was urgent, so Su Youqi had no choice but to push Zhu Wenyu backward, throwing his own words right back at him: “Wenwen, hurry back to the school and fetch reinforcements!”
Zhu Wenyu hadn’t anticipated Su Youqi’s move and, caught off guard, was pushed quite far back.
By then, Su Youqi was already brawling with the gang. No matter how worried Zhu Wenyu was, there was nothing he could do. If both of them fell into this trap here, they would only end up getting beaten to a pulp by this mob.
Fortunately, Su Youqi’s combat strength far exceeded Zhu Wenyu’s psychological expectations, and he didn’t seem to be losing the upper hand at all. Gritting his teeth, Zhu Wenyu turned around and sprinted toward the school at top speed.
Without Su Youqi to worry about, he could fight without holding back. Never in his wildest dreams did Zhu Wenyu expect that when he finally brought the security guards back, the scene awaiting him would be Huang Jie and his entire gang pinned to the ground by Su Youqi, howling in pain.
Zhu Wenyu and the security guards holding wooden sticks stared in disbelief.
Su Youqi pulled his foot off Huang Jie’s body and ran over to the security guards: “Uncle Security, you came just in time. This guy led a group of people to ambush me. You guys can be my witnesses. I’m going to report this to the counselor and have the school discipline them!”
The security guard’s gaze swept back and forth between the completely unscathed Su Youqi and the group of people wailing all over the ground, thinking to himself that if these individuals weren’t famously notorious delinquent students, he would have doubted who was good and who was bad.
Ultimately, with the solid testimony of the security guard and Zhu Wenyu, Huang Jie and his crew were chewed out fiercely by the counselor.
In the past, when Huang Jie bullied Su Youqi, the school had turned a blind eye and let it slide because it wasn’t overly outrageous and because of family backgrounds. But this time was too egregious: a dozen people ganging up on two, one of whom was even from another department. If anything had actually happened, or if either of the two had called the police, the school’s reputation would have been completely ruined.
Enraged, the counselor made a firm decision this time to teach Huang Jie and his gang a harsh lesson: call their parents and slap them with major disciplinary warnings!
However, Huang Jie didn’t learn his lesson at all; instead, he hated Su Youqi even more. As soon as they stepped out of the office, he spat out a harsh threat to Su Youqi: “Su Youqi, don’t get too full of yourself. Just wait, I’m not going to let you off!”
Looking at the increasingly dense black fog swirling around Huang Jie, Su Youqi gave him a warning: “You’d better watch out for yourself. Men propose, God disposes. Karma comes around, and doing too many bad things invites retribution. I see a dark cloud hovering over your head lately. It’s a sign that retribution is coming.”
Unfortunately, Huang Jie didn’t take Su Youqi’s words to heart. He pulled out his phone and made a call: “Hey, Uncle, I’ve been bullied lately…”
As an ordinary person, Huang Jie couldn’t see that the black fog shrouding him twisted weirdly after he finished the phone call, before a tiny shred of it sank straight into his body.
Back in the dorm, Zhu Wenyu looked at Su Youqi in awe: “I never expected you to be so capable of fighting, Youyou! You single-handedly took down over a dozen of them. Are you perhaps a legendary martial arts master?” At this, Zhu Wenyu looked a bit regretful: “If I had known you were this strong, I wouldn’t have run back to find the security guards. I would have stayed right there to watch your supernatural brawl.”
Yet, a conflicting thought immediately popped into Zhu Wenyu’s head: “But since you’re so powerful, how come you used to get bullied by your old roommates?”
“I practiced for a few years when I was a kid. Back then, they weren’t that extreme, and Huang Jie’s personality is stubborn, so I found it troublesome and didn’t bother arguing with them. But they just pushed it too far. I originally wanted to change rooms and be done with it, but they wouldn’t let up,” Su Youqi fabricated an excuse and changed the subject. “It’s you I’m talking about, Wenwen. With a little frame like yours, you actually dared to let me run first. You could’ve been beaten up terribly!”
Despite saying that, Su Youqi was deeply moved by Zhu Wenyu’s gesture.
“It wouldn’t have come to that. My hometown is deep in the mountains, and mountain kids do a lot of farm work, so we’re pretty tough and resilient to falls.” Zhu Wenyu held out his hands for Su Youqi to see; they were covered in calluses, truly belonging to someone who worked long-term. Zhu Wenyu looked a bit embarrassed: “At the time, I just figured I was somehow a little tougher than you.”
