Transmigrated into a Trashy A and Ended Up with My Grudge-filled Best Friend and My Own CP - Chapter 22
Ding Moyan had nowhere to retreat one enemy in front, three below. Jumping down was definitely not an option.
Just as she was about to be struck, a Swallowtail Dart shot out from her sleeve, catching the bald man off guard and embedding itself directly into his eyeball.
“Ah!” The bald man staggered back, clutching his eye in agony.
The Poison Dart, glowing faintly green in the darkness, had lodged itself deep into his eye socket, blood streaming down his face.
Ding Moyan couldn’t help but feel grateful that Ye Ye had given her a few Swallowtail Darts before the mission.
Hidden in the shadows, Ding Bai showed no signs of frustration or anger at Ding Moyan’s narrow escape. Her expression remained cold and unreadable as she silently observed the unfolding chaos.
With no backup arriving after so long, Ding Moyan didn’t need to think hard to realize Ding Bai was behind this.
Her beautiful, icy features darkened, her narrow eyes glinting with venom.
[Ohoho, looks like someone’s in big trouble.]
The system’s mocking voice only fueled Ding Moyan’s anger.
“Mo Yan.” Wang Ye’s eyes still held traces of panic. Fearing Ding Moyan might face further danger, she tossed her dagger to her.
Ding Moyan caught it effortlessly. The blade was sharp, and she wielded it with practiced ease. Her movements quickened, her cat-ear-shaped black hair fluttering as if she herself had transformed into a nimble black cat.
She wouldn’t stop until she had torn flesh from bone.
With their leader’s vision impaired and his reflexes slowed, Ding Moyan swiftly dealt with him. The remaining three below were taken care of by the battle-hardened Ye Ye and Wang Ye, who struck from Invisibility.
After such a prolonged fight, Ding Moyan’s stamina was running low. She leaned against the wall, panting heavily.
Fortunately, neither she nor Wang Ye had sustained serious injuries. Ye Ye, however, had suffered a deep gash on her leg from the trio’s coordinated assault.
Applying the remaining Healing Powder from their supplies, the wound slowly closed, though she could only limp for now.
Experience Points credited enough to purchase five Ghost Amulets.
Ye Ye flopped down, refusing to move. “My leg’s done for. I need a kind sister to help me up.”
“I, I’ll do it.” Wang Ye didn’t want Ding Moyan to have any more contact with Ye Ye.
“Don’t touch me.” Ye Ye slapped Wang Ye’s hand away, shooting her a glare before turning to Ding Moyan with a haughty pout, pushing her luck. “I want Sister Mo Yan to carry me.”
Thanks to the Swallowtail Darts, Ding Moyan’s impression of Ye Ye had improved slightly. But her theatrics and cringeworthy words made Ding Moyan’s lip twitch involuntarily.
“No.”
Ye Ye pretended to wipe nonexistent tears. “Nooo, I’m gonna cry now.”
“I’ll support you, but don’t push it.” Ding Moyan pressed her lips into a thin line and hooked Ye Ye’s arm over her shoulder.
Though it wasn’t the princess carry she’d hoped for, holding hands in front of Wang Ye wasn’t bad either.
Ye Ye finally quieted down.
As they walked, her head gradually leaned against Ding Moyan’s shoulder.
Ding Moyan, in a rare moment of patience, nudged her away, only for Ye Ye to immediately lean back in.
When they finally reached the rendezvous point, Ding Moyan relaxed, relieved to finally let go of Ye Ye.
But then Ding Bai’s cold snort reached her ears. Ding Moyan stiffened, her expression turning sour, as if she’d just bitten into a lemon.
Wang Ye stepped closer to Ding Moyan, her eyes wary as she glared at the two. She wasn’t stupid she knew exactly who was indirectly responsible for Ding Moyan’s near-death experience earlier. People who broke their word were truly disgusting.
“Glad you’re okay.” Yu Sisi’s throat bobbed slightly, her fingers hidden beneath long silk sleeves curling nervously as she forced a smile to cover for Ding Bai. “Mo Yan, we were also attacked by ghosts just now and couldn’t help you in time. Sorry about that.”
With that, Yu Sisi bowed sincerely in apology after all, they were clearly in the wrong here.
Ding Moyan fired off several rapid questions that left Yu Sisi speechless: “Ghosts? Then where are they now? Did you eliminate them?”
“Ah!” Ye Ye, quick on the uptake, stepped forward and patted Yu Sisi’s shoulder teasingly. “You already took care of the ghosts? Impressive! We’ll be counting on you from now on. As for apologies, words aren’t as useful as actions you two better treat us to a nice meal after we get out of here!”
“Of course, naturally.” Yu Sisi broke out in a cold sweat, deftly sidestepping the ghost topic. She knew Ye Ye was giving her an out and managed an awkward chuckle.
“No need for treats.” Ding Moyan lifted her eyelids slightly, her gaze icy enough to freeze bones.
When she looked up, she met Ding Bai’s meaningful expression, those pitch-black eyes clearly reflecting her silhouette.
Ding Bai’s thin lips curled into a mocking smile that stung Ding Moyan’s face like a slap.
How strange, why hadn’t she finished Ding Bai off when the latter was injured?
Having such an unpredictable element in the team was nothing but trouble.
Ding Moyan’s expression darkened as she silently cursed.
“Here, these are for you.” Ye Ye handed Ghost Amulets to Yu Sisi and Ding Bai.
Ding Bai’s brow relaxed as she unceremoniously accepted the amulet.
Yu Sisi’s palms burned where they touched the talisman, her ears turning red with shame.
“Let’s go complete our mission first.” Yu Sisi moved closer in a conciliatory manner. “Mo Yan, what’s your personal task? We’ll accompany and help you.”
“Don’t worry this time you can just watch us do the work.”
“301 Ancient Manor. Kill the Hanged Woman in Red.” Ding Moyan stated flatly.
The Hanged Woman in Red.
Holy hell!
Yu Sisi and Ye Ye unconsciously swallowed hard. In horror stories, female ghosts were always the scariest especially hanged ones. There was no need to ask why they recoiled at the idea; they’d once watched a movie about a hanged female ghost that left them feverish and sleepless, the image burned into their minds every time they closed their eyes.
“We’ll go now, time’s running short. We should hurry.” Yu Sisi forced a smile, not wanting to accept the Ghost Amulet without contributing something. Doing nothing would feel wrong.
“Mm.” Ding Moyan nodded.
Ding Bai’s brow relaxed as she casually pocketed the remaining throwing darts Ye Ye had left behind, joining them on their way to 301 Ancient Manor.
Ding Moyan slowed her pace, gradually falling behind Ding Bai.
“Pfft!” The moment Ding Bai stepped across the threshold, she instinctively looked down at the sudden pain in her chest.
A silver arrow had pierced clean through, crimson blood dripping along the shaft to stain Ding Bai’s new shoes.
“What a shame.” Ding Bai lowered her lashes, calmly pulling the arrow from her chest without revealing any emotion.
“You won’t gain Experience Points like this, Ding Moyan. You should’ve aimed for the heart.”
