Transmigrated Into a Scummy Alpha Who Stole the Male Lead's Mermaid Fiancée - Chapter 54
The night sky over Gana shimmered with neon lights as Yu Ke smoothly landed the aircraft on the rooftop of the Gana Hotel. Security personnel were already prepared to greet them, and the head chef approached Zhang Jun to inquire about his dinner preferences.
Zhang Jun had no particular opinion and turned to ask Lan Xing what she wanted to eat. Lan Xing gazed at the distant street fireworks, hesitating to speak.
A hundred meters below, the bustling streets were alive with chatter. People leaving work flocked to roadside bars, drinking beer, grilling meat, and animatedly discussing the stunning Omegas they had recently encountered, their boisterous conversations mingling with laughter and joy.
“We always eat at the hotel and have never tried street food. Wouldn’t it be a pity to leave without giving it a try?” Zhang Jun looked at Lan Xing with a gentle, scholarly smile. “Are you thinking the same thing?”
Lan Xing was famished. Her stomach had growled several times during the journey, and as they flew over Gana, the sight of street vendors below had made her mouth water.
She glanced at Yu Ke and whispered, “Is it okay, sister?”
“Why wouldn’t it be?” Zhang Jun wrapped an arm around Lan Xing’s shoulder, smiling warmly. “No need to ask her opinion on this. What reason would she have to object?”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea,” Yu Ke interjected, dousing their enthusiasm. “We’re at a critical juncture right now. Going to such crowded places is unsafe and could attract trouble.”
Zhang Jun, like a model student being scolded, felt indignant but still argued politely, “Sister A’Ke, we’re just going to grab a bite to eat.”
“Tell me what you want, and I’ll go buy it. Both of you head back first,” Yu Ke’s tone left no room for argument. “Zhang Jun, you’re a public figure, it’s not appropriate for you to be out and about all the time. I’ll video call you. Just point out anything you’d like to eat.”
Lan Xing’s starry eyes looked softly at Yu Ke as she said, “We can just send someone to buy it. There’s no need for you to go yourself.”
She couldn’t bear to send Yu Ke on such an errand; having her company was what mattered most.
Yu Ke glanced down at her. “It’s fine. I’ll make a quick trip and be back soon.”
Neither of them could persuade Yu Ke to change her mind. After she left, Zhang Jun complained, “Xingxing, is Sister A’Ke always this domineering?”
“Is she domineering?” Lan Xing ruffled her hair, thinking carefully. “I don’t think she’s domineering at all.”
Zhang Jun looked unconvinced. “You haven’t been manipulated, have you? You’re so gentle-natured, you might not even realize if you were being controlled!”
“Sister isn’t like that,” Lan Xing replied, squinting with a smile. “She has a lot on her mind. I just don’t want to cause her any more trouble.”
“Well, that’s true!” Zhang Jun’s frustration faded, and she followed Lan Xing into the room, staying for a while to make phone calls.
Lan Xing soon received a video call from Yu Ke. Faced with an array of dazzling snacks, she felt overwhelmed by choice. Zhang Jun snatched the phone and ordered a bit of every tasty item, even calling to request beer, which Yu Ke would bring up with the food.
Yu Ke returned quite late, by which time Zhang Jun had already left. Fortunately, the snacks she brought were still warm. She laid them out one by one, waiting for Lan Xing to join her.
“I can’t finish all this,” Lan Xing said as she sat down, taking a bite of honey cake. She praised, “It’s delicious.”
Yu Ke leaned back slightly as she watched her eat, clicking her tongue thoughtfully before saying, “There are too many people down there. You always run into shirtless men, and lots of alphas who never bother to control their pheromones, just loitering around the square. I don’t want you going to places like that. Even the thought of someone else glancing at you feels like a loss to me.”
Lan Xing chuckled softly, wiping the corner of her mouth and blinking as she looked at Yu Ke. “Even if you didn’t explain, I’d understand.”
Yu Ke tilted her head, her raven-feather-like eyelashes casting a faint shadow on her cheeks. Her tone was like a melancholy autumn melody as she said slowly, “I’ve been thinking, and I still feel like my approach wasn’t right. Even though you wouldn’t get angry with me over it, you might still feel a little disappointed…”
Lan Xing set down the honey cake, wiped her hands, and cupped Yu Ke’s face, planting a firm kiss on her lips.
Yu Ke couldn’t help but smile.
“Just trivial everyday things,” Lan Xing said, perking up. “My dear princess, these are all proof that we’re living our lives together!”
Yu Ke gazed at her, unable to look away, feeling as though the weight in her heart had lightened considerably.
Lan Xing smiled encouragingly. “Because two people can’t be exactly the same, sometimes we crave different foods, have different tastes, different habits, and sometimes we can’t even sync our moods. But that’s completely normal, isn’t it, sister?”
Yu Ke nodded, feeling a bit foolish. “Was I making a big deal out of nothing?”
“Because you care about how I feel,” Lan Xing said, her lips curving into a smile. “I feel the same way you do. I want to match your pace, and it’s no trouble for me, it’s not a compromise. So please, don’t overthink my feelings. I’m an Omega, but that doesn’t mean I’m fragile or overly sensitive. Just knowing how much you cherish me is more than enough.”
Yu Ke leaned forward, cradling Lan Xing’s face with one hand, and kissed her lips gently, over and over again.
Lan Xing’s face flushed bright red, her eyes wide like a small animal being held in place.
“Darling, let me share a little tip,” Yu Ke said, brushing her nose against Lan Xing’s. “You can breathe while kissing.”
“…Hiss,” Lan Xing gasped, not even realizing she’d been holding her breath. Her cheeks burned as she fanned herself with her hand. “Sister, that was so sudden. Do I still have honey on my lips?”
“What’s there to be afraid of? Even if there’s drool on your lips, I’d lick it clean,” Yu Ke chuckled softly, looking down at her with adoration. “Now finish your food. I’ll go prepare some medicine for you so you don’t worry about overeating.”
Obediently, Lan Xing picked up her small fork, speared a taro ball, and brought it to her mouth, chewing slowly as she wondered, Where was I again?
Her train of thought had been completely derailed. Oh well, never mind. In this moment, she was simply happy.
In the end, as expected, she ate so much she could barely move, and they didn’t end up doing any of the things she had in mind.
Even though she’d been thoughtful enough to change into a new set of lingerie while Yu Ke was out buying snacks, in the end, the two of them just collapsed into bed and fell asleep.
Lan Xing sighed softly, rubbing her full, round belly.
The next morning, Lan Xing got up early to make breakfast for Yu Ke. She wanted to fry a heart-shaped egg, but the first two attempts weren’t perfect. Glancing over at Yu Ke, who was still sound asleep, she realized she had plenty of time, so she tried a third time.
She peeled shrimp, sliced sea cucumber, and simmered porridge. After two or three hours of busy work, Yu Ke finally woke up and realized what was happening.
“Why are you doing all this yourself?” Yu Ke walked over barefoot, wrapping her arms around Lan Xing from behind. “We can have someone else handle these things.”
“Because life is about the two of us. If we skip things like cooking and grocery shopping entirely, it feels like something’s missing,” Lan Xing frowned slightly. “Sister, try the food first. I might need to use the bathroom.”
“Are you feeling unwell?” Yu Ke placed a warm hand on her stomach. “Should I rub it for you?”
“Mmm,” Lan Xing gently pushed her hand away and hurried to the bathroom. Moments later, she called out from inside, “Sister!”
Yu Ke stood at the bathroom door, pushed it open, and raised an eyebrow with a smile. “Pregnant?”
Lan Xing felt a bit embarrassed, lowering her head with a soft laugh. She muttered, “Unmarked Omegas can’t get pregnant. Common knowledge, you know.”
“Oh,” Yu Ke drew out the word, her eyes full of amusement. “Then I suppose I should mark you first.”
“Unmated Omegas aren’t easily marked,” Lan Xing whispered. “Sister, I think… I might be able to go into heat smoothly now…”
