- Transmigrated Into a Scummy Alpha Who Stole the Male Lead's Mermaid Fiancée
- Chapter 46 - The Deal
On the evening of September 23rd, Li Jian’an rushed to Yu Ke’s room in a panic. Pushing the door open, he exclaimed, “Sister Ke, something’s happened!”
Yu Ke had just finished washing up, wrapped in a bathrobe with her long black hair cascading down her shoulders. She responded coolly, “Hmm?”
Even in a bathrobe, the innate oppressive aura of an Alpha emanating from her was enough to make one breathless.
Li Jian’an couldn’t help but tense up. He offered an apologetic smile and said, “Sorry to disturb your rest, but I just got the news. Domi came to me earlier and said Angel is missing. I’m worried something might have happened to her…”
“Angel?” Lan Xing poked her head out from the bathroom. “Is she still upset about what happened yesterday?”
Li Jian’an’s gaze instinctively flickered toward the bathroom. Through the frosted glass door, he could vaguely make out the silhouette of Princess Lan Xing, her delicate shoulder partially exposed. Blood gushed from his nose, and he covered his face, tilting his head back as he cried out, “Ahhhh… Your Highness, just kill me! This is not something I should be seeing!”
“Quite self-aware,” Yu Ke remarked, pulling the bathroom partition door shut before turning back to Li Jian’an. “Hurry up and tell me what happened to Angel.”
“Y-yes, right,” Li Jian’an wiped the blood from his nose, stumbling over his words. “Angel, she… Let me think…”
Ten minutes later, Li Jian’an sat on the sofa and explained the whole situation to Yu Ke.
After returning last night, Angel had called the man who gave her his business card and then gone out alone, following his instructions.
She had taken a tracker with her and even called Domi midway to relay some information.
Throughout the day, Angel’s location kept changing, but she never called as agreed. Domi grew suspicious and hailed a taxi to track the location of the device, only to realize they had been deceived.
The tracker had been attached to a stray cat on the street. Angel had already gone missing.
“She wanted to earn your trust quickly so she could stay on the Princess ship. That’s why she acted alone,” Li Jian’an nervously defended Angel. “Please don’t blame her. Her intentions were good.”
“How capable does she think she is, acting on her own like that?” Yu Ke said coldly. “What a bunch of troublesome kids.”
Li Jian’an sighed. “Your Highness, have you never caused trouble for anyone in your entire life?”
“Never,” Yu Ke’s dark, piercing eyes fixed on him. “Since I was young, I’ve never caused any trouble. I’ve always handled things on my own, unlike her foolishness.”
From the time she could remember, Yu Ke had never given her family any reason to worry. Her parents were rarely around, and she was mostly raised by nannies and tutors. By the age of three, she was already fluent in three languages. After enrolling in a private school, she consistently ranked first in her class.
She had faced bullying in school but resolved it by reporting it to the authorities, never even mentioning it to her parents afterward.
She began studying abroad in high school, returned to manage the company after graduating from university at twenty-one, and while working, she pursued a master’s degree at one of the top ten universities in the country, completing her doctorate within three years.
Under her management, the company received technology awards and secured government funding. Her department never ran short of project funds, and she was repeatedly honored as one of the nation’s outstanding young talents.
The only regret was that behind the company’s glamorous facade lay the cost of environmental pollution, data falsification, and even unpaid human lives, issues still awaiting her resolution.
A car accident had sent her into this world. To live with a clear conscience, she abandoned the struggle for the throne and brought Lan Xing here.
Reflecting on her short life, she could confidently answer Li Jian’an’s question: she had never acted impulsively or made irreparable mistakes.
Li Jian’an had nothing to say and could only ask, “So, you’re not planning to take care of her anymore?”
“I won’t abandon her, but I want her to understand that her temperament isn’t suited for staying on the Princess,” Yu Ke replied coldly, almost heartlessly. “I’m not running a charity. Helping her escape her past life is already going above and beyond.”
Li Jian’an breathed a sigh of relief. “As long as she’s rescued, this incident should teach her a lesson.”
…
Yu Ke first dialed the number on the business card but was unable to get through.
She then went to the staff of Deep Sea Promise, reviewed the surveillance footage from the previous night, and identified the man who had given Hepburn the business card.
“This person dined with Lord Rum and is likely his retainer. We have their contact information here. Let me try calling for you,” the staff member said, immediately making the call.
“Hello, how may I help you?” A woman with a deep voice answered the phone.
The staff member politely replied, “Hello, is this Lord Rum’s residence? We’re from the Deep Sea Promise restaurant. Lord Rum dined here yesterday, and one of our guests has encountered some trouble and would like to get in touch with you.”
There was a brief silence on the other end before a man’s voice came through, asking, “Is this Princess Ferrari?”
“It’s me,” Yu Ke replied with surprising calm. “Is Angel with you?”
“She is. My apologies for not informing you earlier, but we are no longer in Gana,” the man chuckled lightly. “Angel is doing well. She asked me to convey her gratitude for your care during this time.”
“The Angel I know would never say something like that,” Yu Ke frowned. “This is kidnapping, Mr. Rum. I won’t let this slide.”
“Is that so? Then you can come find me in Hongdu. Ivan Rum, that’s my name. I’ll tell you whether I kidnapped Angel or you kidnapped those children from Planet 356,” the man said coldly.
After hanging up, Yu Ke flew alone to Hongdu and arrived at Ivan Rum’s residence at 2 a.m.
The butler escorted her to the living room, served her tea, and asked her to wait inside.
She sat on the sofa all night until daybreak, when a man in a bathrobe descended the stairs. Spotting the person on the sofa, he yawned and called out, “Lao Zhou, brew me an espresso!”
His voice was identical to the one on the phone. This was Ivan Rum.
Yu Ke showed no signs of fatigue. Holding a cigarette between her fingers, she raised her head to scrutinize the man and said slowly, “Ivan.”
“Your Highness,” Ivan quickened his pace down the stairs, his long legs moving briskly as he approached Yu Ke. He extended his hand cheerfully and said, “You are even more beautiful in person than in the videos. It’s an honor to meet you.”
Yu Ke ignored his outstretched hand, put out her cigarette, and said expressionlessly, “Where is Angel?”
Ivan called for the butler, “Go and ask Angel to come down.”
Five minutes later, Angel came downstairs fully dressed. She looked quite surprised to see Yu Ke, and after a moment of delight, her expression shifted to one of guilt, as if she had caused trouble. Timidly, she said, “Sister A’Ke.”
Angel was the first person who could make Yu Ke rush overnight from one city to another and wait an entire night in someone else’s home.
Yu Ke was seething with anger inside. She looked at Angel, her tone neither warm nor cold, “You’re really something.”
Angel pursed her lips and retorted defiantly, “I didn’t ask you to come save me.”
“So, it’s my fault for coming, is that it?” Yu Ke shot back.
Angel frowned, pouting, and after a long pause, said, “If it were Sister Xing’er, would you not be angry?”
“If it were Xing’er, I’d be willing to do anything for her,” Yu Ke lowered her gaze, her dark eyes devoid of any emotion, “But you, to me, are nothing but trouble.”
Abrupt applause broke out. Ivan clapped his hands, gloating as he said, “That’s your true feeling, isn’t it, Your Highness?”
Yu Ke remained silent, staring coldly at Ivan.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” the man still seemed nonchalant.
“Evidence,” Yu Ke said, “Proof that we illegally kidnapped them.”
Ivan chuckled, took the coffee offered by the butler, sat down on the sofa, crossed his legs, and leisurely replied, “Is that why you came?”
Yu Ke: “I assume if you didn’t have evidence to prove we were involved in illegal kidnapping, you wouldn’t have so blatantly captured our people.”
“They have documents from the Isabelle Lab!” Angel blurted out, “Those documents clearly state our ownership and even specify who has full authority over us if the lab is compromised!”
Yu Ke was stunned, her knuckles tightening slightly as she glared at Ivan with disgust.
Ivan sneered, “You’re such an annoying kid. I should have been the one to say that. Before obtaining these documents, we were still considering how to negotiate peacefully with you. After all, when the agreement for customizing the clones was signed, no one anticipated something like this would happen.”
Yu Ke stayed silent. Ivan clapped his hands, and the butler presented an electronic screen for Yu Ke to examine.
The screen displayed an electronic document. Yu Ke lowered her head to read it, her frown deepening with each line.
It was a confidential document from the Isabelle Lab, detailing the production purposes, sale methods, and disposal procedures for clones under special circumstances.
Yu Ke skipped directly to the disposal section, which read:
“In the event of a clone’s desertion, Levels 1-3 commands may be applied, depending on the severity of the situation, as follows:
Level 1: Command Revocation
Level 2: Command Suspension
Level 3: Clone Self-Destruction
The activation methods for Levels 1-3 commands are as follows…”
Reading these lines sent a chill through Yu Ke’s entire body. She looked at Angel, then back at Ivan, and asked, “Have you already issued a command to Angel?”
“I could have, but there’s no need,” Ivan swung his crossed leg casually, “Even if I just threaten verbally, anyone with a brain wouldn’t act recklessly.”
Yu Ke said softly, “Your target isn’t really Angel, is it?”
“I have a sister who once donated eggs at the Isabelle Laboratory. Do you know what happened to her?” Ivan lifted his face to look at Yu Ke, his expression icy.
Upon closer inspection, Ivan’s hair emitted a faint blue glow, reminding Yu Ke of one of the cloned children.
Her name was Hepburn, and her hair color was even lighter than Ivan’s, a beautiful ash-blue.
Li Jian’an had once mentioned that the daughter of a cabinet minister was suffering from an incurable disease and might set their sights on Hepburn.
That cabinet minister was Ivan’s father, Lord Rum.
Hepburn was, in fact, a clone of Ivan’s sister.
“My sister is ill. Current medical conditions cannot cure her. The only option is to replace her heart, but we have yet to find a suitable donor. She is teetering on the edge of death, and all we can do now is cryogenically freeze her, putting her into hibernation while we wait for a suitable heart.”
Ivan uncrossed his legs and looked at Yu Ke, speaking lightly, “When we went to Planet 356, you beat us to it and took the child named Hepburn. Now, we hope you will return her, because my sister needs her heart.”
“At present, only our Rum family possesses this document. I can make an exchange with you, trade Hepburn alone for the lives of the other eleven children.”
“Domi, Angel, Mike, Thoreau…” Ivan counted their names on his fingers. With each name spoken, Angel grew more horrified. To her, this man was like a soul-reaping ghost, he only needed to issue a command to end all their lives.
Ivan’s gaze settled on Yu Ke as he let out a soft sigh. “Make a choice, Your Highness.”
Angel’s eyes widened, fixed intently on Yu Ke, pleading with her not to sacrifice Hepburn.
In her world, this princess was brave, fearless, and capable of anything, she must have a way to resolve the current situation.
But Yu Ke only said one thing: “Fine. Wait for me to fetch Hepburn.”
