- Transmigrated Into a Scummy Alpha Who Stole the Male Lead's Mermaid Fiancée
- Chapter 42 - The Visitor
As the son of the nation’s prime minister, 23-year-old Zhang Jun held the position of a diplomat. He appeared refined and elegant, impeccably dressed in a suit and tie, and spoke with courteous grace, greeting Yu Ke and Lan Xing in turn.
“I only received the news this afternoon that Your Highnesses had applied for entry in Gana, so I immediately had my assistant arrange a flight. I hope you won’t find my arrival too delayed,” Zhang Jun said as he sat on the sofa, elegantly crossing his legs and resting his hands on the armrests, his posture exuding an assertive confidence.
Lan Xing sat on the opposite sofa, wearing a white peter pan collar blouse and, as per Yu Ke’s request, a black short skirt. A blanket covered her, concealing her tail tucked beneath it, leaving no trace of her mermaid form.
She spoke very little, only responding politely to Zhang Jun’s remarks while maintaining an elegant and composed smile. Her long golden hair was simply tied into a princess knot, with the majority of it cascading down her back.
Yu Ke sat beside Lan Xing, initially patient in her conversation with Zhang Jun, but as time went on, she grew increasingly uneasy.
She couldn’t tell if it was her imagination, but it seemed as though Zhang Jun kept stealing glances at Lan Xing.
“I didn’t expect you to have visited Planet 356 on your way. Few people go there these days, it’s said to be quite dangerous,” Zhang Jun remarked, his gaze briefly flickering toward Lan Xing before addressing Yu Ke. “But it’s fortunate that you managed to leave safely.”
Yu Ke replied distractedly, “That place lacks proper governance, and the people live in dire conditions. We anticipated some unexpected situations before going, so we were somewhat prepared.”
“And you, Princess,” Zhang Jun turned to look at her, his eyes lingering as they traveled from her face downward, finally settling on the blanket covering her. Lowering his eyelids, he asked, “Were you injured there? If needed, we have a professional medical team here…”
Yu Ke thought to herself: Hey, stop staring at the blanket! Anyone can tell you’re trying to catch a glimpse of Lan Xing’s beautiful tail hidden underneath!
“I encountered some issues and can’t return to my human form for now,” Lan Xing admitted candidly, with an awkward smile. “So, during this time, Sister Yu Ke has been taking care of me…”
“So, you’re currently in your mermaid form, is that right?” Zhang Jun probed, his eyes eager and fixed intently on the blanket.
“Mm-hmm,” Lan Xing replied, about to lift the blanket to show him her tail, but Yu Ke pressed down on her wrist to stop her.
Yu Ke smiled at Zhang Jun, though the expression on her pale face felt chillingly cold.
“It must be a truly enchanting tail,” Zhang Jun said dreamily. “I’ve never seen a mermaid’s tail before.”
“People from Panda Planet aren’t fond of traveling much; they prefer staying in warm ocean waters, so you wouldn’t have had many opportunities to see one,” Lan Xing explained kindly.
“Not entirely,” Zhang Jun shook his head. “I’ve had the chance to meet a mermaid before, but she never showed me her beautiful tail.”
Yu Ke: “???”
Lan Xing said, “If you ever have the opportunity to visit our Panda Planet, you’ll be able to see many mermaids.”
Zhang Jun smiled faintly, his gaze drifting back to Lan Xing’s chest as he remarked thoughtfully, “Your Highness, you are truly considerate.”
Yu Ke: Considerate my ass.
“There is a mermaid doctor at the Canaan Sacred Hospital. If you’d like, I can arrange for them to give you a comprehensive check-up to determine the exact state of your health,” Zhang Jun said politely.
“Thank you, that would certainly be a good thing for me,” Lan Xing replied, seated on the sofa as she bowed courteously toward him. “I appreciate your help!”
As she leaned forward, the outline of her chest became even more pronounced. Yu Ke was almost certain that Zhang Jun had sneakily glanced at her chest several times.
Yu Ke grew increasingly irritated, but she had to hold it in.
After all, Zhang Jun was offering Lan Xing a free full-body check-up, a benefit that was too good to pass up. Some advantages were worth taking, even if it meant enduring a little discomfort.
Just bear with it a little longer.
Besides, her dear Lan Xing was so innocent, she hadn’t even noticed Zhang Jun stealing glances, let alone suspected any ulterior motives.
“Xing’er,” Yu Ke turned to her, addressing her affectionately, “Are you hungry? Let me take you to grab something to eat.”
She completely ignored Zhang Jun, but he was quick to adapt. Putting down his crossed leg, he immediately chimed in, “I know a rooftop restaurant in Canaan that’s absolutely top-tier. Their ice cream cake is one of a kind in the entire Datianxi area. Let me take you both to try it!”
Just listen to that! He’d even found out that Lan Xing loved ice cream cake?! This was blatant, shameless flirting and seduction! Who could stand this?!
Yu Ke was seething inside, but Lan Xing cheerfully replied, “Really? I love ice cream cake! Do they have blueberry flavor?”
“Of course! Sea salt blueberry, blackcurrant blueberry, chocolate blueberry, and even tipsy blueberry, just counting the blueberry-related flavors, I can name over ten!” Zhang Jun said enthusiastically.
Lan Xing’s eyes sparkled, and she nearly jumped up from the sofa. Still, she maintained her composure and restraint, glancing repeatedly at Yu Ke to gauge her reaction.
What could Yu Ke do?
She had to spoil her own wife, after all.
She let out a soft sigh, her expression resigned. “In that case, let’s go to that restaurant.”
“Yay, yay!” Lan Xing covered her face happily, whispering in assurance, “I’ll only have five blueberry cakes… no, six…”
“You can have as many as you like,” Zhang Jun added. “No need to worry about gaining weight, the cakes there use low-calorie cream and light sugar.”
Yet again, he’d hit right on Lan Xing’s preferences.
Yu Ke felt that if things continued like this, it would be a disaster.
She changed the subject and asked, “Mr. Zhang, do you have a girlfriend?”
At this, Zhang Jun actually blushed, his fair complexion flushing bright red in an instant. Even Yu Ke found it excessive!
Why would a grown man blush? Was he trying to act cute?
Did he think that was endearing?
How infuriating.
Sure enough, Lan Xing giggled softly. She had tried to hold it in, but couldn’t help herself. Once caught, she turned away and took a tactical sip of water.
Yu Ke: “…”
“Xing’er,” Yu Ke looked at her, pondered for a moment, and then drawled, “I’d like some water too.”
“Okay, okay!” Lan Xing set down her cup and reached for Yu Ke’s, only to be stopped by a sharp look from Yu Ke.
Yu Ke cast a meaningful glance at the cup Lan Xing had just drunk from. Understanding the hint, Lan Xing picked it up and handed it to Yu Ke.
Feeling quite smug, Yu Ke took the cup and deliberately sipped slowly from the exact spot where Lan Xing had drunk, all the while fixing Zhang Jun with a lingering, suggestive gaze.
Zhang Jun: “…”
“Where were we?” Yu Ke set the cup down, her eyes sharp and assertive as she stared directly at Zhang Jun. “Mr. Zhang, you must have a girlfriend, or at least someone you like, right?”
Zhang Jun lowered his eyelids and replied calmly, “To be honest, I do have someone I like.”
Yu Ke shot a glance at Lan Xing, her expression practically screaming, “See? I knew it.”
So, he had someone he liked, yet he was still trying to flirt with her precious Lan Xing. What a scumbag.
Zhang Jun cleared his throat, looking at Lan Xing as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.
Yu Ke: “?”
“Why do you keep staring at my girlfriend?” Yu Ke couldn’t hold back any longer. “Didn’t you say you have someone you like?!”
“I’m sorry,” Zhang Jun’s face turned as red as a persimmon. He stood up, took a sip of water, and said in a flustered tone, “I… I don’t usually act like this…”
Both Yu Ke and Lan Xing were bewildered. Yu Ke was so furious she was on the verge of throwing Zhang Jun out, but Lan Xing gently held her hand and patted it to calm her down.
Zhang Jun walked to the window, took a deep breath, and suddenly turned back. He approached Lan Xing, dropped to one knee with a loud thud, and declared in a voice that could shake the heavens, “Princess Lan Xing, may I… may I please see your tail?!”
Yu Ke: “…???!!!” Are you out of your damn mind?
“…Uh, I guess… is it okay?” Lan Xing was startled and looked uncertainly at Yu Ke. “Sister, can I show him?”
“Of course not!” Yu Ke facepalmed. “Xing’er, can’t you tell he’s a pervert?”
Lan Xing looked utterly confused, glancing between Yu Ke and Zhang Jun before shrinking back nervously and hiding her body under a small blanket.
Zhang Jun, looking utterly defeated, remained on one knee. “Did I… scare you?”
“N-no, it’s fine,” Lan Xing said, her face flushed. “You… maybe you should get up first?”
As she spoke, Yu Ke stayed close behind Lan Xing, guarding her fiercely, afraid this pervert might pull another shocking stunt.
But Zhang Jun just seemed a bit dejected. He stood up, ran a hand through his hair, and sighed softly. “I’m sorry…”
After a moment, Zhang Jun collected himself. Standing by the window, he finished a cigarette and said sorrowfully, “This is just how I am. When I get excited, I do impulsive, embarrassing things. I just… really wanted to see your tail, Your Highness.”
Yu Ke: “Isn’t that exactly what a pervert would say?”
Zhang Jun: “…”
After a pause, he finally uttered an even more embarrassing line: “Actually… I’m researching how to become a mermaid…”
Yu Ke: “Huh?”
Lan Xing: “???”
Zhang Jun’s face flushed bright red as he opened the window for some air. Extremely awkward, he explained, “I… I think I’ve given you the wrong impression. I’m actually an Omega. I absolutely don’t have the kind of intentions toward Princess Lan Xing that you’re imagining! I just… really envy her for having such a beautiful mermaid tail…”
Yu Ke was stunned for a long moment. “…You really are a pervert, aren’t you?”
Lan Xing: “…”
Zhang Jun: “…”
“Alas,” Zhang Jun sighed, his voice filled with despondence, “this is actually a sorrowful tale…”
