Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 70
When Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan returned to the company, Jiang Fang and Lin Hongli were still sitting on the bench by the entrance, resting. Shen Xian said to them, “Let’s get a proper checkup first. You’ve been crying all day, but it’s not even certain you have HIV. It’s not that easy to contract. And while we’re at it, you can explain everything clearly.”
She took Lin Qinghan’s wrist and brought her along to the hospital to get her wounds treated, and left instructions with Xiao Yue before heading to Linhai City Hospital with the three of them.
Once there, Lin Qinghan turned to Jiang Fang and Lin Hongli and asked coldly, “Now tell us exactly what happened. You’d better tell the truth—at this point, if you keep lying to us, you’ll only be hurting yourselves.”
Jiang Fang, clearly uneasy, explained, “It was Lin Zhixin. He came back and said he was going to cook for us. But he put his blood in the food. He told us he has AIDS and wants to drag us down with him. He said
Shen Xian is rich now, and if we want to survive, we should go to you.”
Lin Qinghan let out a sigh. “So once again, I’m just your ATM? What Lin Zhixin did was basically poisoning. Did you call the police?”
Jiang Fang hesitated for a long moment before muttering, “No… we were too scared. Didn’t think of it.”
Lin Qinghan’s face turned even paler. Her voice went cold. “So you’re still protecting Lin Zhixin, aren’t you? Did it ever occur to you how this stunt you pulled at my and Shen Xian’s workplace would affect us?”
Jiang Fang, sensing Lin Qinghan’s anger, quickly tried to backtrack. “Qinghan, we were wrong before. We won’t do it again.”
But Lin Qinghan had already pulled out her phone and called the police, detailing everything Lin Zhixin had done. Jiang Fang reached out to snatch the phone but withdrew her hand, realizing their survival still depended on Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan.
After ending the call, Lin Qinghan said bitterly, “Even after what he had done to you, you still try to protect him?”
Jiang Fang began, “Qinghan, he’s still—” but Lin Hongli stopped her.
He gave an awkward smile. “Qinghan’s right. After what Lin Zhixin’s done to us, there’s no reason to protect him anymore.”
Hearing the full story, Lin Qinghan’s heart went completely cold. Her parents had been harmed by her younger brother, and their first instinct was still to come extort money from her? And no matter what she said, they had to create a scene first?
Now that she had calmed down, Lin Qinghan realized there was little chance they had actually been infected. HIV dies within seconds of leaving the body, especially when exposed to heat—like in hot food.
“Whatever. If it’s as you say, it’s probably fine. But if you’re still worried, get tested. Just don’t come looking for me again. You’ve never treated me like your daughter anyway,” Lin Qinghan said icily.
Jiang Fang opened her mouth to say something, but Lin Hongli, fearing they’d lose any support, gave her a tug and shook his head.
They soon arrived at the infectious disease department of Linhai City Hospital. Jiang Fang and Lin Hongli were tested while Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan went to get Lin Qinghan’s scraped hand and knee treated.
Meanwhile, after Lin Qinghan’s report, the police quickly responded. They arrived at Jiang Fang’s home, where Lin Zhixin, as if expecting them, showed no surprise. Under questioning, he not only confessed to poisoning his parents but also exposed how Wang Qi had forced him to work at a bar to pay off debts.
The officers, surprised by the unexpected lead, brought Lin Zhixin back to the station for further investigation.
Back at the hospital, the initial test results for Jiang Fang and Lin Hongli came out: both were negative. But the doctor noted that the optimal window for HIV testing is six weeks after exposure. If both the antibody and nucleic acid tests remain negative by then, the risk can be ruled out.
As for taking post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), the doctor left the decision to them, warning that it could cause side effects. Jiang Fang and Lin Hongli looked to Lin Qinghan, who said coldly, “That’s your choice.
Just know it’ll make you feel pretty awful.”
Ultimately, clinging to life, Jiang Fang and Lin Hongli chose to start the medication. Lin Qinghan, unwilling to see them any longer, transferred ¥500 to them. “Use this for your follow-up test in six weeks. If the result’s still negative, it means you’re safe. But whatever happens, don’t come to me again about things like this. You’ve never treated me like your daughter anyway.”
This time, Jiang Fang understood she had no ground to stand on. With their initial results out and medicine in hand, she and Lin Hongli didn’t argue. “Qinghan, we’ll go now. Daughter-in-law, we’re leaving,” she said, glancing toward Shen Xian, only to be met with a sharp glare from Lin Qinghan.
After they left, Lin Qinghan finally felt like she could breathe again. She realized she had been foolish, always thinking of them as her parents, while they’d only ever treated Lin Zhixin as their child.
Only now did she remember to call her boss and request time off. Shen Xian noticed she was still down and gently took her hand. “Qinghan, you’ve already done more than enough. They chose not to see your worth. Don’t let it get to you. It’s about time—we should go pick up Tiantian.”
Lin Qinghan nodded. “Okay.”
After parking the car by the curb, the two went to pick up their little girl. Tiantian, oblivious to the day’s drama, was overjoyed to see both her moms. “Mama! Mommy!” she called out, running toward them with her little legs.
As Tiantian ran into her arms, Lin Qinghan hugged her tightly. Seeing her daughter’s innocent and lively face, she finally managed a faint smile. Shen Xian was right—she had long ceased being part of that so-called family. You can give everything and still not be loved.
Realizing this brought her some comfort. “Let’s go home.”
Shen Xian drove while Lin Qinghan sat in the back seat with Tiantian.
After dinner, Shen Xian continued wrapping up unfinished work. Lin Qinghan leaned against her shoulder. Seeing her in better spirits, Shen Xian reached out and playfully scratched her chin. “Alright, no more fuming.”
“I wasn’t mad,” Lin Qinghan muttered, arms wrapped around Shen Xian’s. “Not worth getting mad over them. And I’m not a kitten—why are you scratching me there?”
Shen Xian chuckled and kissed her forehead. “Because Qinghan is my little kitten.” She reached up to ruffle Lin Qinghan’s hair but had her hand swatted away.
Work nearly done, Shen Xian shut her laptop, slid one arm around Lin Qinghan’s waist, the other under her knees, and pulled her onto her lap.
Startled, Lin Qinghan grabbed onto Shen Xian’s shoulders. “What are you doing? Let me down! This is the living room! What if Tiantian comes out to use the bathroom?”
But Shen Xian just smiled. “She just fell asleep. She won’t wake up so soon. Isn’t Mrs. Shen going to let me hold her?” she teased with a wink.
The bright living room lights made Lin Qinghan uneasy, not to mention Tiantian was still in the next room. Being held like this in Shen Xian’s lap made her nervous—it reminded her of that time on the porch when Shen Xian had her flustered.
Sitting sideways was uncomfortable, so she eventually turned to face Shen Xian, straddling her legs. Shen Xian straightened up and kissed the corner of her lips. “I just want Mrs. Shen to be happy every day.”
She took Lin Qinghan’s hand and gently kissed around the scabbed scrape. “Does it still hurt?”
The wound had stopped bleeding but still stung when touched. Lin Qinghan looked at Shen Xian, eyes slightly red. “Probably only you and Tiantian would care whether I’m hurt or not.”
Shen Xian caressed her cheek. “As long as Tiantian and I care, that’s enough. We’re your real family now.”
“Mhm.” Lin Qinghan hummed softly. Since she was sitting on Shen Xian’s lap, she was a bit taller. She lowered her head and leaned against Shen Xian’s shoulder, realizing she’d become quite clingy lately.
Shen Xian let her lean, one arm around her waist and the other stroking her back gently.
But just then, the door to Tiantian’s room creaked open. Tiantian, rubbing her eyes, wandered out.
Both women froze and turned toward her.
Seeing her mama sitting in mommy’s lap, Tiantian blinked, unsure what she was seeing. She rubbed her eyes and mumbled, “Mama, Mommy, what are you doing?”
Lin Qinghan’s ears turned bright red as she quickly jumped off Shen Xian’s lap and sat on the other side of the couch.
Shen Xian hadn’t expected Tiantian to come out either. She opened her mouth several times but couldn’t figure out how to explain. Then she glanced at the laptop and quickly grabbed it, stammering, “We—we’re working together! That’s right, just working.” She let out a few dry laughs.
Tiantian looked a little confused but was still sleepy and just needed the bathroom, so she nodded and headed for the toilet.
As soon as she was out of sight, Shen Xian felt a sharp pinch at her waist—Lin Qinghan glaring at her furiously, her face still flushed. “Didn’t you say she wouldn’t wake up? Shen Xian, you’re terrible! I’m not speaking to you!”
With that, she stomped off to the bedroom. Just thinking about being seen by their daughter like that made her feel like a boiled crab.
Because Tiantian had her own room now, Shen Xian had left nightlights on in the living room and bathroom so she wouldn’t trip on the way.
Tiantian could wipe herself, but the regular toilet was too tall, so they kept a kid-sized potty seat for her.
Shen Xian hadn’t expected her to get up so soon and had to keep pretending to be working.
Sure enough, after using the bathroom, Tiantian walked back out sleepily, glanced at Shen Xian, and asked, “Mommy, are you done working with mama?”
She still thought what she saw earlier looked like a hug, but maybe, like her teachers said, there were a lot of words she didn’t know yet. Maybe hugging was just how adults worked?
Shen Xian felt her heart clench but kept a calm expression. “Mm, we’re done. Mommy’s going to bed too. Goodnight, sweetheart.”
“Goodnight, Mommy,” Tiantian mumbled as she returned to her room.
Only then did Shen Xian slump back on the couch in relief. Hopefully, Tiantian was still too sleepy to remember anything clearly.
