Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 68
Lin Zhixin finished packing and boarded the earliest coach back to his hometown the next morning. He looked gaunt, with small red rashes dotting his face and body. The moment he stepped through the front door, Jiang Fang’s heart ached at the sight.
“What happened to your face? Let Mom take a look,” she fussed over him.
“It’s nothing. I just had something spicy a few days ago—an allergic reaction,” Lin Zhixin said, waving it off.
“As long as it’s nothing serious. Come on in. You must be tired. Tell me what you want to eat—I’ll make it for you. It’s not that I didn’t want to help you with the money, but we had to sell the house. Where would we live after that? How could we help you get married if we ended up homeless? If you want to blame someone, blame your heartless sister. Not only did she refuse to help you pay off your debt, she even had us arrested!” Jiang Fang rattled on, trying to steer Lin Zhixin’s anger toward Lin Qinghan. After all, this was the son they’d spoiled rotten since birth. She couldn’t let him grow distant from them.
Lin Zhixin gave a twisted smile, the red splotches on his face only adding to his menacing look. “I get it, Mom. Don’t worry. I know how good you two have been to me. I’m just going to take a shower and change clothes.”
“Go ahead, take your time and get some rest,” Jiang Fang said, nudging him toward the bathroom. Then, turning to her husband Lin Hongli, she added proudly, “Hongli, our son has grown up. He paid off his debts on his own through hard work!”
“Of course. I always said Zhixin would turn out well—way better than that ungrateful Lin Qinghan,” Lin Hongli echoed.
Lin Zhixin, clothes in hand, stepped into the bathroom, eyes cold and calculating. They still thought they could win him over? To him, his parents were no different from Lin Qinghan—none of them cared whether he lived or died. Who knew what he’d been through? And now that he had this illness… well, if he was going down, he’d take all of them with him.
He took a viciously hot shower, changed into clean clothes, and came out saying, “Mom, I’ve been selfish before, but I won’t be anymore. You two just rest today. I’ll cook lunch.”
Jiang Fang beamed. “A prodigal son returns—Mom has finally lived to see this day!”
Lin Zhixin smiled and went into the kitchen. He made stir-fried cabbage with meat, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and a cold cucumber salad. When Jiang Fang tried to help, he shooed her away.
“Mom, really, just take it easy. Let me do it.”
Once he was alone, Lin Zhixin sneered, lips curling into a smirk. He picked up a kitchen knife and slashed his finger. Blood dripped, splattering directly into the pan of tomato and scrambled eggs. He waited until about a dozen drops had fallen, then calmly washed his hand and the knife under the tap. After bandaging the wound with a prepared plaster, he stirred the dish thoroughly. With the deep red of the tomatoes, no one would notice anything unusual.
Feeling pleased, Lin Zhixin called out with a smile, “Lunch is ready!” and brought the dishes to the table.
“Dad, Mom, taste my cooking and tell me what you think.” He made a point of heaping spoonful of the scrambled eggs and tomatoes into their bowls.
Jiang Fang beamed. “Let’s try it—this is your son’s heartfelt effort.” She eagerly ate several bites.
Lin Hongli was also happy. In the past, Zhixin only came home to ask for money. Cooking? He wouldn’t even pick up a spilled soy sauce bottle. Today was a rare change, and he ate heartily.
The three dishes were soon wiped clean. But as the meal went on, Lin Zhixin’s expression darkened. By the end, he was sneering openly.
“What’s wrong, Zhixin?” Jiang Fang asked nervously.
His eyes turned sharp and vicious. He let out a cold laugh. “What’s wrong? You act like you cared about me. Had the nerve to try and make me blame Qinghan instead. Let me tell you—none of you are getting away.”
“Zhixin, what are you talking about? Just now you were fine. Why are you suddenly angry again?” Jiang Fang asked, bewildered.
“I’m not angry. I’m actually very happy,” Lin Zhixin chuckled darkly. “If I can’t live well, then at least I have company.”
Lin Hongli frowned. “Don’t say strange things. Don’t scare your mother and me.”
Lin Zhixin gave a grim smile. “I’m not trying to scare you. I have HIV. You know what that is? AIDS. It’s incurable. I don’t know how long I have left. And it’s contagious. Just now, I dripped my blood into the tomato and egg dish.”
He pointed at the now-empty plate. “It spreads through blood. For all you know, you’re already infected.”
“Zhixin! How could you do this? We’re your parents!” Jiang Fang wailed, trembling.
“Ha! You deserve it. This disease costs a fortune and kills you slowly. When you refused to help me pay off my debt, this day was already set in stone. Now it’s perfect—we’ll all die together.” Lin Zhixin laughed until tears streamed down his face.
Jiang Fang ran to the bathroom to try to vomit, but nothing came out. From behind her came Lin Zhixin’s cold voice, “No use trying. It’s already in your system. I suggest you go find Lin Qinghan and Shen Xian.
Your daughter’s wife is rich now—owns her own company in Linhai. I’ll give you the address. Rich people care about face. Go make a scene. They won’t dare ignore you.”
“Oh, what sin have I committed? My daughter threw me in jail, and now my son wants us dead,” Jiang Fang sobbed hysterically.
Lin Zhixin sneered. “Go, don’t go—I don’t care. But if you don’t find your daughter and daughter-in-law, you might as well stay home and wait to die. You don’t even have money for treatment.”
He scribbled Shen Xian’s company address on a piece of paper, slammed back into his room, and shut the door so hard it echoed through the house.
“What do we do now?” Jiang Fang collapsed to the floor, her heart breaking. She never imagined the son she had adored her whole life would treat her like this.
Lin Hongli forced himself to stay calm. “Stop crying. We’re running out of time. We’ll go to Qinghan first—she’s soft-hearted. If that doesn’t work, then we’ll go to Shen Xian. There must be a way. Come on, let’s take the bus. We can be in the city by 3 PM.”
“Okay. Let’s go now,” Jiang Fang said as they stuffed some cash into a bag and rushed out.
From his room, Lin Zhixin heard them leave. He burst into laughter that quickly turned into tears. Since his life was already ruined, he would make sure everyone who had wronged him paid for it—including Wang Qi, who had dragged him into this in the first place.
—
Meanwhile, Jiang Fang and Lin Hongli rushed to the city on the next coach. They knew little about HIV—only that it meant death. As soon as they arrived, they hailed a taxi to the hospital where Lin Qinghan worked.
The moment they entered the lobby, Jiang Fang began to wail, “I need to see Lin Qinghan! She’s my daughter! Lin Qinghan, come out! How could you and your wife be so cruel? We’re dying! We’ve got AIDS!”
The hospital guards blocked them, but Jiang Fang’s cries were loud enough to draw the attention of everyone in the lobby. The front desk immediately called Lin Qinghan.
“Dr. Lin, there’s an older couple outside—say they’re your parents. They’re causing a scene and disrupting the hospital. You’d better come out.”
Lin Qinghan’s heart sank. Who else could it be but her parents? She had just found a sliver of peace, and now they were back to cause chaos again?
She rushed out of her department and headed toward the front entrance. When Jiang Fang saw her, she cried even harder.
“Qinghan! We’ve been infected! You can’t abandon your parents now! Go beg Shen Xian for help. You’re still together, aren’t you? Have her pay for our treatment!”
“Yes, yes! You and her get along so well. She’ll listen to you,” Lin Hongli chimed in.
Lin Qinghan was stunned. How had they suddenly gotten HIV? And now they were here, emotionally blackmailing her. When things were good, they never thought of her. But the moment they were desperate, suddenly she existed again.
Her heart felt like it had been pierced. Shen Xian had finally started her own company, and their life was slowly improving. Why did these unbearable things keep coming back to drag her down?
Shen Xian was nothing like she used to be—she had a bright future now. But what about herself? A leeching younger brother, and parents who only saw her as a walking ATM. And now this disease.
She staggered back a few steps, staring at the two people who felt more like strangers than parents.
But no matter what, they were still her parents. Lin Qinghan couldn’t just ignore them—but she also wouldn’t drag Shen Xian into this again.
Forcing herself to stay upright, she said firmly, “Don’t panic. I won’t ignore you. But don’t involve Shen Xian. We’re divorced now. I’ll take you to a hotel, and then we’ll talk things through and figure out a plan together.”
“Oh come on! Zhixin said this disease costs a fortune to treat. You’re just a doctor with a small salary. How can you afford it? Stop being stubborn—Shen Xian treats you well, doesn’t she? Just talk to her and have her help us,” Jiang Fang pleaded through tears.
Lin Qinghan shook her head, her voice resolute. “No. This is our family’s problem—we’ll solve it ourselves. Don’t go bothering Shen Xian. I won’t abandon you. But I won’t let her get dragged down again either.”
