- Chapter 10 - The Demon King and the Master 3
The Demon King gave a light chuckle. “So, what exactly do you want your Master to help you with?”
In truth, the Demon King wanted to ask if he needed lessons in experience, but saying so would likely scare this pure-hearted little disciple away immediately.
“Master, I do not want to follow the plot. Is there a way to complete the main storyline without me having to personally participate?”
As Lin Qing spoke, he looked at the silhouette before him with eyes full of earnest longing. His cheeks were still flushed, and his fear of being rejected made him look so pathetic that one could not help but want to tease him.
The Demon King looked at Lin Qing’s face and said, “Is such a small matter worth your distress? Leave it to me when the time comes. I will help you deceive that Ghost King.”
Lin Qing felt a bit worried about his Master’s overflowing self-confidence. “Master, that is the Ghost King. He will not be easy to fool.”
The Demon King’s tone was dismissive. “The current cultivation continent is truly pathetic if every common stray can call themselves a King or a Venerable.”
Lin Qing, who was known to the outside world as the Green Lotus Sword Venerable and was considered equal to the Demon Lord and the Ghost King, felt a sharp sting from that comment.
Seeing Lin Qing’s trembling and cowardly state, the Demon King tossed him a manual. “Take this and cultivate well.”
Lin Qing caught the yellow-covered book with both hands. The cover had no title. He asked, “Master, what is this?”
“That contains the cultivation methods of my demonic arts,” the Demon King replied, “including the insights and realizations I gained over the years.”
Lin Qing’s eyes lit up. “If I cultivate this, will I be as powerful as you, Master?”
The Demon King’s shadow drifted to his side and whispered into his ear with a hint of a smile, “You must not be impatient. You are still far from that.”
Noticing Lin Qing’s slight disappointment, the Demon King added, “However, as long as you cultivate diligently, your talent will allow you to quickly surpass the demon you met today and pull him down from his position as Demon Lord.”
Lin Qing grew excited again. “Then could I defeat the Eternal Immortal Venerable?”
The Demon King said displeasedly, “Are you looking down on my arts? That man is not worthy of being compared to my techniques.”
Lin Qing tucked the book away as if it were a precious treasure. “Thank you, Master! I will certainly cultivate with all my heart.”
Once he mastered the demonic arts, he would kick the System aside and castrate anyone who dared to harbor ill intentions toward him. Imagining a future of freedom, Lin Qing felt a surge of adrenaline. “Master, I am going to practice now!”
Without waiting for a response, he eagerly exited the space. The dimension, which had briefly become lively upon the arrival of its new owner, fell silent once more. The Demon King had spent thousands of years in this silence and was long accustomed to the loneliness, yet suddenly, he found he no longer wanted to endure it.
Thinking of his relatively respectful disciple, the Demon King waved his hand to manifest a water mirror in the air. The image showed Lin Qing sitting cross-legged, focused on his cultivation.
“Little disciple, you must be obedient to your Master from now on.”
[Dear User, what are you doing?] The System asked, surprised to see Lin Qing suddenly sit up and assume a serious meditative posture. It wondered what kind of trouble this unpredictable host was brewing now.
Lin Qing replied, [I am going to cultivate. Do not disturb me.]
[That will not do, Dear User,] the System interjected. [Yun Fan has returned and is looking for you. You must go and see him now.]
Lin Qing was shocked. “He actually dared to come back?”
Although he had temporarily erased the past hour of memory from the Demon King and Demon Lord, Yun Fan had been plotting against him for half a month. Any rational person would realize Lin Qing was the one behind the counter-plot. Was this fellow not afraid that Lin Qing would clear out the sect in a fit of rage?
Despite these thoughts, Lin Qing straightened his appearance and went to the main hall to meet Yun Fan. After all, the guy was weaker than him; there was no reason to fear a weakling.
When Yun Fan saw the doors of the main hall open, he immediately ran inside and knelt before the person in the high seat. “This disciple greets Master.”
Lin Qing’s voice was majestic and cold. “What are you doing here? I do not have a disciple like you.”
[Dear User, according to the requirements of the main plot, you must keep him by your side at all times.]
Lin Qing thought to himself, [Do not worry, I will not drive him away.]
He could not kill this nuisance, and letting him wander off to plot with others was too risky. It was better to keep him under his thumb where he could be watched.
Yun Fan remained on his knees, dragging himself forward across the floor toward Lin Qing. Now that his actions had been exposed, he no longer suppressed the obsessive, crazed love in his eyes.
“Master, since you did not kill me, you must have been unwilling to part with me, right?”
Lin Qing thought to himself that if the System allowed it, he would have castrated him long ago.
He waited as Yun Fan crawled up the steps. When the man reached him, Lin Qing kicked him back down. “Get out! You filthy thing.”
Yun Fan tumbled down the white jade steps, his forehead striking the stone and leaving a trail of blood. He scrambled up from the ground and knelt again, looking at Lin Qing pleadingly. “Master, I am not filthy. I washed myself very clean.”
If Lin Qing did not know this man’s true nature, he might have been fooled by such a display of sincerity. In the original plot, the original owner was so devastated by Yun Fan’s betrayal that even after being forced into a relationship with the Demon King and Demon Lord, he remained cold toward his disciple.
In response, Yun Fan used various psychological tactics to manipulate and break the original owner, only appearing to offer relief when the owner was on the verge of collapse. Among all the male supporting characters, this guy was the most verbally abusive, constantly saying, “Master, you are so filthy. No one but me will ever truly love you.”
Lin Qing rubbed his temples, trying to push away those nauseating memories. “I will not kick you out.”
Yun Fan cried out, “Master, I knew you could not bear to let me go!”
“Do not misunderstand,” Lin Qing interrupted, his eyes full of disgust. “You still hold the status of my disciple. If this scandal were to spread, it would be my reputation that suffers. It is not worth ruining my name over a piece of trash like you.”
In the original story, such a thing actually happened. When the relationships were exposed, although people looked down on the group, most of the vitriol was directed at the original owner. The rumors claimed that if he had not intentionally seduced them, the Demon King and Demon Lord would never have pursued him. The logic was always that it takes two to tango and the fault must lie with the one who was indecent.
Yun Fan looked devastated. “Master, how can you say that? My heart belongs only to you.”
The original owner might not have known how to argue, but Lin Qing did. He glanced at Yun Fan and continued, “I will find an opportunity to dissolve our Master-Disciple relationship. From now on, if you wish to stay here, find your place as a servant who sweeps the floors of the Green Lotus Palace.”
Yun Fan pleaded, “Master, you cannot!”
Lin Qing stood up and looked down with contempt at the pathetic man. “Look at yourself. You are not fit to be my disciple. I have not stripped you of your cultivation or exiled you; I have given you the status of a servant. You should be grateful.”
He knew exactly how to manipulate someone right back. Yun Fan thought of what happened today and looked pained. “Master, it is all my fault. I will serve you with all my heart from now on. As long as I can stay by your side, I am willing to do anything.”
Lin Qing was revolted once more. He flicked his sleeve, using a burst of spiritual energy to throw the man out the door.
With a loud bang, the doors slammed shut. Lin Qing’s voice rang out from inside the hall. “You shall sweep the front courtyard. Do not seek an audience with me unless you are summoned.”
