Transmigrated as the Vampire Alpha of the Omega Heroine - Chapter 27
The students in Class B welcomed their winter vacation.
“Miss, we’ll be there soon,” said Old Wang, the driver, as he smoothly navigated the familiar route to Jiang Nian’s home, the car’s radio now tuned back to a drama channel.
Jiang Nian huddled in her seat, the suppressants barely keeping her heat at bay. The faint stirrings of her cycle were still there, and the alpha beside her seemed utterly oblivious not only refusing to mark her but also unconsciously exuding an intoxicating scent.
Gu Li held Jiang Nian’s hand gently, asking from time to time if she was alright, then began chattering about how she had neatly packed Jiang Nian’s winter break homework and test papers into her bag. She had even written a note outlining the vacation schedule and included explanations for the wrong answers, since Jiang Nian had spent the last few classes dozing on her lap instead of paying attention.
So noisy.
It wasn’t until Grandma Jiang took Jiang Nian from Gu Li’s arms that the omega, silent the entire ride, finally spoke: “It hurts.”
Compared to her first heat, this was ten times worse. The suppressants were like ibuprofen capsules during a painful period only masking the symptoms, not solving the root of the agony.
There was a much better way to ease it. Omegas were sensitive and vulnerable during their cycles, yet the alpha in front of her remained completely unaware, offering nothing.
And today was the start of winter break. Tomorrow, she wouldn’t even get to see Gu Li.
The thought made her feel even more miserable.
Grandma Jiang cradled her limp granddaughter, glancing questioningly at Gu Li, who responded with a composed explanation: “Nian Nian’s heat started. I gave her suppressants, but she still seems uncomfortable.”
The alpha’s gaze was open and unguarded clearly, nothing improper had happened.
But an elderly woman like her couldn’t possibly carry her granddaughter inside, especially with that heavy bag of homework. “Miss Gu, could you help bring Nian Nian in?”
The two of them settled Jiang Nian onto the bed, and Gu Li made to leave, explaining to Grandma Jiang that she still needed to pack for the winter math competition camp. But the omega lying weakly beside them suddenly clutched at her sleeve, refusing to let go.
“Come now, Nian Nian, Miss Gu has things to do. She can’t stay with you forever,” Grandma Jiang chided, tugging lightly at the small hand but it wouldn’t budge.
“It hurts,” Jiang Nian mumbled softly.
Gu Li opened Jiang Nian’s bag and pulled out another dose of suppressants, speaking gently, “Should we give you another shot?”
She took Jiang Nian’s hand, which had been covering the back of her neck, and prepared to administer the injection. But the girl, who had been lying there with her eyes closed, suddenly opened them and protested, “No. I want a mark.”
Grandma Jiang startled at the words. The way Jiang Nian said it was so natural, as if marking was something the two of them were already intimately familiar with.
Gu Li’s hand, holding the suppressant, froze. She met Grandma Jiang’s gaze awkwardly. “It’s not what you think.”
Heaven knew she had never marked Nian Nian, if anything, she was the one who had been marked twice.
The alpha squirmed under the scrutiny and was about to explain further when the impatient omega tore the suppressant patch from her own neck. Without its protection, her scent glands, amplified by her heat, quickly flooded the room with pheromones.
Granny Jiang was startled and instinctively shielded her granddaughter on the bed, fearing the alpha before them might lose control upon smelling such intense omega pheromones during heat and do something to Jiang Nian.
Yet, Gu Li simply stood there, sniffed the air, and merely found the scent pleasant, nothing more.
The tense standoff lasted a while before the omega in her grandmother’s arms stirred again. The first three days of an omega’s heat were always the most intense. During Jiang Nian’s first cycle, she had relied on Gu Li’s alpha pheromones for comfort, never experiencing the full force of her body’s urges. Two reverse marks had been enough to ease her through the worst of it.
But now, with comparison came dissatisfaction.
She wriggled free from her grandmother’s embrace, arms outstretched, silently begging the alpha for a hug. Tears clung to her lashes, her gaze pitiful enough that Gu Li had no choice but to approach. Slowly, she peeled off her suppressant patch and, under Granny Jiang’s stunned stare, offered her scent gland.
“Xiao Gu, you” The old woman gasped, releasing Jiang Nian’s arm as her granddaughter wrapped herself around the alpha’s neck like a starving creature finding its feast. Gu Li smiled reassuringly at Granny Jiang, gently nudging the omega, who was now nuzzling incessantly at her neck.
“Be good, hurry up. It’ll only get worse if you wait.” She stroked the omega’s soft hair, feeling the kitten-like licks tracing her gland.
Sharp teeth ghosted over the most vulnerable part of her, mapping every curve of her gland. Jiang Nian’s neck was right there so close that Gu Li bit her own tongue to resist the urge to sink her teeth in.
“Not soft at all.” The kitten’s voice was syrup-thick with heat, her fingers pouting against Gu Li’s lavender-scented gland. The suppressants dulling her urges left her weaker than last time.
Her teeth barely broke skin, injecting only a trickle of omega pheromones. She couldn’t draw enough alpha scent to soothe herself, and the effort of marking left her exhausted. Instead of relief, the heat flared higher, frustration bubbling over.
So spoiled now. Granny Jiang flushed watching them, ready to scold Jiang Nian until the alpha’s gaze pinned her in place. The old woman quietly slipped out, shutting the door softly behind her.
Hand over her heart, she muttered, “Nian’er found herself quite the doting alpha, willing to be marked by an omega like that…”
Inside, Gu Li braced one hand on the bed, the other rubbing Jiang Nian’s back. Her voice was rough. “Done? Still hurting?”
A few involuntary tears slipped from the alpha’s eyes, yet her focus stayed on the kitten in her lap.
The omega released her gland with a whimper. “Still hurts… You do it, okay?”
Her small hand moved to her own scent gland, rubbing it impatiently while her little nose twitched cautiously, trying to absorb more of the alpha’s floral scent.
An alpha’s shallow marking would only soothe an omega’s heat without affecting their body.
“Are you sober, little kitten?” Gu Li chuckled as she pinched the omega’s nose, wiping sweat from her own forehead. “Are you really sure you want to be with me?”
Her attitude toward relationships was deadly serious. In this world, marking was an intimate act between lovers something she found repulsive, yet it had given her hope of escaping the swamp. Jiang Nian could have had many choices, yet she’d walked toward her step by step with unwavering determination.
Her cheek received a sharp pinch as the omega before her spoke with visible irritation: “I’m sober. Soberly certain.”
The painful pinch brought tears to Gu Li’s eyes. Patting the omega’s flushed cheek, she smiled and slowly leaned toward the scent gland at Jiang Nian’s nape. Just before reaching it, the alpha whispered near her ear: “Sing for me.”
Let me approach without biting my tongue. Let me come to you through your voice.
“The thing I want to see most is your smile
To my eyes, you’re the best in the world”
The sweetness of milk tea grew stronger, yet Gu Li remained clear-headed as she neared the omega’s soft gland to Jiang Nian’s singing. She pressed her lips against it gently, as if performing a sacred ritual.
The alpha’s gland began burning. Everything proceeded as expected. Jiang Nian’s singing gradually softened as she waited for the alpha to soothe her increasingly turbulent heat.
Time passed second by second yet after the kiss, Gu Li froze. Her body stiffened until the omega beneath her felt numbness in her neck. Then came Gu Li’s hesitant whisper: “Niannian… maybe you should handle this yourself?”
The alpha carefully withdrew, silently offering her own gland to the stunned omega’s mouth.
Jiang Nian stared at the gland before slowly articulating: “Gu Li. Are those human words?”
Gu Li’s tongue pressed against her canine tooth. How strange while resisting the urge to bite, her alpha marking fangs refused to extend.
“I’m leaving now? I’ll be at winter camp all month, but I’ll call you daily.” Gu Li studied the omega in her arms, sensing her emotions had stabilized.
“Okay.” Jiang Nian nodded obediently.
Exiting the room, Gu Li encountered Granny Jiang’s knowing expression. Straightening her collar, she spoke solemnly: “Grandma, I’ll take my leave now. Please take care of Niannian.”
The grandmother glanced at the bite mark on Gu Li’s nape before nodding impassively. The moment the door closed, she hurried toward the bedroom to check on her granddaughter.
Jiang Nian sat on the bed, staring gravely at her phone. Grandma Jiang, thinking something bad had happened, hurriedly checked the back of her neck but found no marks. She sat beside Jiang Nian, stroking her chin in thought.
That Gu Li boy was good decent family background, had stayed by Nian Nian’s side when she was sick, had a great personality, and from what Nian Nian said, excellent grades too. More importantly, even after learning about Nian Nian’s condition, he treated her granddaughter exceptionally well and was even willing to let an omega mark him to make Nian Nian more comfortable. Such an alpha was truly rare.
The more she thought about it, the more perfect he seemed.
“Grandma?” Jiang Nian looked up at her grandmother in confusion.
Grandma Jiang, lost in her fantasy of being charmed by her future granddaughter-in-law, put on a solemn face and said, “Your studies should still come first. Just get marked during your heat cycle don’t bite poor Xiao Gu too hard.”
On Jiang Nian’s phone screen, which had been flipped over, their WeChat chat page with Mu Lan prominently displayed several lines of text:
“Do you still have all the physiology class notes from this semester? Send them to me.”
