Transmigrated as the Scumbag Alpha’s Gorgeous Wife Who Keeps Trying to Seduce Me - Chapter 39
After stepping out of the conference room, Chi Lengzhao collapsed heavily into her chair.
She had drunk a bit too much last night and was still feeling dizzy. On top of that, she had hosted an important official in the morning and attended two back-to-back meetings. Rubbing her temples, she tried to ease the exhaustion that was catching up with her.
For lunch, she asked her assistant to order a vegetable salad and a glass of juice.
When Xiaomi came in carrying the lunch, she also brought along a carton of boxed milk.
Chi Lengzhao frowned slightly. “Milk? I didn’t order milk.”
Xiaomi quickly explained, “It was a free gift from the vendor.”
Chi Lengzhao smiled. “You can have it. I don’t need it.”
Xiaomi nodded and left with the milk.
The milk reminded her of a proposal brought up during the earlier meeting. One of the directors had suggested establishing a Chisheng-owned ranch overseas to enter the premium beef and dairy market.
Of course, before she, the Vice President, could give her opinion, several directors had already spoken out against it.
“Our main business is pig farming. Why would we suddenly start raising cattle? And for milk? That’s completely off track.”
“Exactly. We’d have to spend more money opening new sales channels. Better to just sell more pigs.”
Chi Lengzhao slowly picked at her salad.
Setting up such an advanced livestock processing facility would definitely require a large investment. Spending two to three billion yuan would be expected.
But this was also a great opportunity, if she could convince Chi Jintang to approve it.
At five in the afternoon, the plane landed.
This was the first time Chi Lengzhao met her aunt. By age, her aunt was already in her forties, but she looked like she was in her thirties. She was tall and slim, showing no signs of weight gain with age. She wore casual clothes, a scarf loosely wrapped around her neck, and a pair of sunglasses covering her eyes, revealing only the fair skin below them.
“Are you Xiao Zhao?”
It was her aunt who recognized her first.
Chi Lengzhao gave a polite smile. When she smiled, the corners of her lips curled slightly and her eyes carried a gentle warmth. “Yes, that’s me. Aunt, how did you recognize me so easily?”
“You look so much like your mother. The resemblance is uncanny.”
Chi Lengzhao stepped forward, intending to take her aunt’s suitcase. But instead, her aunt pulled her into a big hug. It felt like a reunion after many years, and her aunt’s voice even trembled slightly.
“You’ve grown so much.”
“Yes, it’s been ten years since we last saw each other.” Chi Lengzhao’s smile softened. It seemed her aunt wasn’t as detached from family as people said.
Her aunt patted her back gently before letting go.
“Aunt, what have you been doing abroad? You haven’t come back in all these years,” Chi Lengzhao asked as she pushed the suitcase while walking beside her aunt.
Her aunt smiled. “I started a company overseas. We do chip design.”
Before she could finish, Chi Lengzhao gasped. “That’s amazing! That’s really impressive.”
Her aunt laughed. “If you’re interested, maybe you can take over one day.”
“No, no,” Chi Lengzhao waved her hands quickly. “I don’t understand anything about integrated circuits. Just seeing books on microelectronics gives me a headache. I can handle investments and making money, but if you ask me to manage technical stuff, your company would probably fall behind by twenty years.”
Her aunt removed her sunglasses and looked at her with interest. “Xiao Zhao, you’ve really changed a lot over these ten years.”
“Of course. I’m already twenty-five, turning twenty-six after New Year. I’m married now. I can’t still act like that clueless kid from back then.”
Her aunt smiled again but didn’t say anything. Then, almost to herself, she whispered, “If your mother were still here to see you now, she would be so proud.”
That simple sentence made Chi Lengzhao’s eyes sting.
If only her mother could see her now.
She forced a smile and quickly changed the subject. “Aunt, since you’re back this time, stay for a few more days. Haibin City has changed so much over the past ten years. Tomorrow’s the weekend. I’ll take you out to see the city and have some fun.”
“Won’t that be too much trouble for you?”
“Of course not,” Chi Lengzhao said with a bright smile. “You were my mom’s classmate. If she were still around, she’d definitely treat you like an honored guest.”
Her aunt paused for a moment, then turned her head. Chi Lengzhao caught a glimpse of her pulling out a tissue and quickly wiping the corner of her eye.
After settling her aunt into the hotel, Chi Lengzhao went to pick up Shen Zhixi so they could attend the family dinner together.
Today, Shen Zhixi wore a light blue long dress, slightly formal, just right for meeting elders. Her elegant posture and graceful neckline gave her an air of quiet nobility.
“You look stunning today, Zhixi. So elegant, like a queen,” Chi Lengzhao praised sincerely.
During the ten or so days they spent filming together, Chi Lengzhao had often complimented Shen Zhixi. Each time, Shen Zhixi would respond with a shy smile and say, “Let’s go, we shouldn’t be late.”
But today, Shen Zhixi completely ignored her compliment. Her expression was cold, almost icy.
“I’m not one of your little fangirls. You don’t have to say stuff like that to me.”
Chi Lengzhao was confused. She didn’t recall doing anything wrong to upset Shen Zhixi today.
When Shen Zhixi reached for the car door, Chi Lengzhao quickly stepped ahead and opened it for her, kindly reminding her, “Watch your dress.”
Shen Zhixi rolled her eyes. “If I were queen, the first thing I’d do is have you castrated.”
Chi Lengzhao froze.
She instinctively touched the gland at the back of her neck. Even through her clothes, she could feel it trembling slightly.
What was going on with Shen Zhixi? Why was she suddenly talking about cutting out her gland again?
On the way to the restaurant, Chi Lengzhao was extra attentive.
She helped with Shen Zhixi’s dress, asked if she wanted water, checked if the air conditioning was too cold, and even told Xiao Song, the driver, to drive more carefully.
All she got in return were three words.
“Just shut up.”
Even Xiao Song glanced at her through the rearview mirror, looking a bit sympathetic.
Chi Lengzhao sighed quietly, gave up talking, and turned to stare out the window.
As the city lit up, the night view of Haibin became a brilliant display of color. But Chi Lengzhao wasn’t in the mood to enjoy it. She was too busy trying to figure out what had gone wrong and how she had upset Shen Zhixi.
When they arrived at the restaurant, the manager was already waiting and personally led them to their private room.
There weren’t many people present. Chi Jintang, her stepmother, her stepbrother Chi Yaozong, and her aunt sat on the other side of the table.
With Chi Lengzhao and Shen Zhixi’s arrival, everyone was finally here.
Chi Jintang introduced warmly, “Sister, you’ve already met Xiao Zhao. This is her wife, Shen Zhixi, daughter of the Shen family from Meixi Group.”
Shen Zhixi greeted politely, “Hello, Aunt.”
Shen Moying looked her over and smiled. “What a beautiful young lady.”
Chen Meishu gave a tight smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “How could she not be? Zhixi is the most beautiful Omega in all of Haibin. If she weren’t, she probably wouldn’t have caught Xiao Zhao’s eye, right? Isn’t she far better than those pretty little girls you used to keep around, Xiao Zhao?”
Chi Lengzhao couldn’t help but notice the sudden chill in the air. It wasn’t just her imagination—Shen Zhixi, seated beside her, seemed to be radiating cold energy.
Just as she was about to fire back, Chi Jintang frowned and interrupted, “What kind of thing is that to say in front of the children? Is that how a proper elder speaks?”
Chen Meishu had always presented herself as the model wife in front of Chi Jintang. Seeing his displeasure, she quickly backed down, laughing it off. “We’re all family here. Just a little joke. Zhixi, you know how much Xiao Zhao cares about you. She even put her work aside to film that show with you.”
Shen Moying asked curiously, “What kind of show?”
“A reality show,” Chen Meishu replied with a scoff. “These days, young people love watching that stuff. Men and women clinging to each other, touching and kissing. Taking something so personal between couples and turning it into entertainment. It’s ridiculous! Sister, do they broadcast shows like that overseas too?”
Chi Yaozong cut in impatiently, “Are you done yet? So annoying. It’s just a reality show. If there’s no kissing, who would even watch? Do you watch it? Ugh, can we eat now?”
“You brat! Show some respect. Your aunt is our guest!” Chen Meishu’s face turned red and pale by turns. She smacked the back of his hand, clearly frustrated.
During the meal, Aunt Shen Moying answered all of Chi Jintang’s questions, but her tone remained neutral—courteous but distant, like a business interaction.
Chi Lengzhao took note. It seemed her aunt didn’t feel especially close to her brother either.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Shen Zhixi reaching for the soup. She quickly picked up the bowl and served it for her.
“Zhixi, here you go.”
Shen Zhixi wanted to say, Save your kindness for those other girls, but with all the elders at the table, she forced the words back down.
“Thank you.”
Chen Meishu smiled at Shen Moying. “Look how affectionate these newlyweds are. If you had come back earlier, you could’ve attended their wedding.”
Chi Jintang nodded with a smile. “That’s right. Didn’t you say you were planning to come back for their wedding?”
Shen Moying looked regretful. “I wasn’t feeling well at the time. I had surgery and was hospitalized for a few days, so I missed it.”
Chi Lengzhao suddenly understood. Her aunt had wanted to attend the wedding, but illness had prevented her.
Chi Jintang asked with concern, “What happened? Why the surgery?”
“It was nothing serious. Just a minor procedure. The timing happened to fall during those days,” Shen Moying replied, clearly not wanting to elaborate. She turned to Xiao Zhao and Shen Zhixi and raised her glass.
“I wasn’t able to attend your wedding. Let me offer this toast as an apology.”
Chi Lengzhao quickly raised her glass. “Aunt, please, there’s no need to apologize. We’re already so happy you came back.”
Shen Zhixi nodded. “Xiao Zhao is right. Aunt, we hope you’ll visit us often.”
After dinner, as everyone prepared to leave, Chi Jintang said with a kind smile, “Tomorrow I plan to take Xiao Zhao and Yaozong to visit their grandparents’ graves. Sister, would you like to come with us?”
Chi Lengzhao, caught off guard by the sudden announcement, blinked in silence.
Shen Moying froze for a moment, then calmly picked up her coat and answered, “Alright.”
Chen Meishu smiled. “Perfect. Since you’re finally back, it’s only right to go. Yaozong, no going out tonight. We’re leaving early tomorrow.”
Chi Yaozong looked annoyed and was about to complain when Chen Meishu pinched his hand hard under the table. He scowled and fell silent.
Chi Lengzhao offered, “Aunt, Zhixi and I will come pick you up tomorrow morning.”
Shen Moying smiled. “Sounds good.”
As she chatted with her aunt, Chi Lengzhao didn’t notice the slight twitch at the corner of Chi Jintang’s mouth. Behind his gold-rimmed glasses, a dark, unreadable glint flickered in his eyes.
Back at the hotel, Shen Moying invited the couple to come upstairs for a while.
Seizing the moment, Chi Lengzhao gently took Shen Zhixi’s hand. Shen Zhixi tried to pull away, but Chi Lengzhao held on tighter.
Shen Zhixi shot her a glare and muttered under her breath, “Shameless.”
Chi Lengzhao grinned thick-skinned. “I’m holding my wife’s hand. How is that shameless?”
Normally, she would never be this bold, but Shen Zhixi had clearly been angry all day. Like a fluffed-up cat, prickly and fierce. Somehow, that made her even more adorable. Chi Lengzhao couldn’t resist teasing her.
This was what people called poking the Tai Sui in the head.
She remembered when she was a child. One time, her mother got so angry at her disobedience that she smacked her bottom three times.
“I told you not to do it, and you still did!”
She cried hard, sobbing with snot and tears. But once she calmed down, her mother handed her a chicken drumstick and cooed, “Xiao Zhao’s the best girl. This drumstick is delicious today.”
She beamed through her tears, happily munching on the drumstick.
But children are naturally curious. Even after getting punished, she never stopped doing what she wasn’t supposed to.
So, she got spanked often. But she also got a lot of drumsticks.
At this moment, Chi Lengzhao’s old habit had come back—she just couldn’t help herself. Even though she knew perfectly well that Shen Zhixi wasn’t in the mood to be messed with, she still chose to push her buttons.
She gripped Shen Zhixi’s hand tightly, showing no intention of letting go.
“Let go,” Shen Zhixi said sharply.
“No.”
“Let go!”
“I won’t, Zhixi.”
Shen Zhixi tried to pull away twice, but couldn’t. Seeing Chi Lengzhao’s smug, shameless expression—clearly relying on the fact that she wouldn’t make a scene in front of their aunt—made her even more irritated. Without hesitation, she stomped hard on Chi Lengzhao’s foot.
“Ow!” Chi Lengzhao cried, wincing in pain. Her face twisted as she nearly shouted out loud.
That finally made her let go.
“You seriously stepped on me?” she gasped, sucking in a breath.
“I warned you,” Shen Zhixi replied, raising an eyebrow as she looked at Chi Lengzhao’s foot twitching in pain. It felt satisfying. “Childish.”
She let out a cold huff, kept a straight face, and turned to walk away.
Behind her, Chi Lengzhao muttered in a pitiful voice, “Mom, she’s so mean. Your daughter always ends up being the one bullied.”
Shen Zhixi almost couldn’t hold it in. She nearly burst out laughing.
Their aunt, Shen Moying, walked out from the room’s safe, holding a delicate gift box. Smiling, she said, “This is a wedding gift from me. Xiao Zhao, I bought it for your wife.”
“Thank you, Aunt!” Chi Lengzhao opened the box. Inside was a dazzling diamond bracelet with a large ruby set in the center. It sparkled brilliantly, beautiful and luxurious, clearly very expensive.
“Put it on Zhixi,” Aunt said gently.
“Okay!” Chi Lengzhao was thrilled. Even though it was meant for Shen Zhixi, she felt even happier than if it had been for herself. Now she had the perfect excuse to hold Shen Zhixi’s hand openly.
She picked up Shen Zhixi’s hand, her fingers slender, wrist fair and delicate with a cool sheen. Chi Lengzhao carefully slipped the bracelet onto her wrist. The ruby sparkled, the diamonds shimmered, and it made her pale skin look even more elegant.
Chi Lengzhao smiled and said sincerely, “It’s beautiful. This bracelet suits you so well.”
A light blush rose on Shen Zhixi’s cheeks. She turned to their aunt and said softly, “Thank you, Aunt.”
Their aunt smiled as she watched them.
Both women were stunning in their own ways, and when they stood together, they looked like the perfect match. Chi Lengzhao’s face was full of joy, her eyes overflowing with tenderness and affection. Shen Zhixi’s gaze, shy and soft, quietly lingered on her partner.
Their feelings for each other were obvious and genuine.
Shen Moying was briefly lost in thought. That old saying came to her mind—true lovers will always find their way. Her eyes grew slightly misty.
Back at home, Chi Lengzhao, as usual, went to the guest bathroom for a shower. When she returned to the master bedroom, ready to crawl happily into bed, Shen Zhixi spoke coldly.
“Get off.”
“Why?” Chi Lengzhao froze. She didn’t understand how Shen Zhixi could switch moods faster than flipping a page. “I thought I was allowed to sleep in the bed now?”
“Well, now you’re not.”
“But why?”
“No reason. I just don’t feel like letting you tonight.”
Chi Lengzhao stared at her in disbelief.
“Zhixi, didn’t you say the sofa’s bad for the spine? My back’s already a little sore.” Chi Lengzhao slowly edged herself onto the bed. “You don’t want me to end up with a crooked spine, do you?”
Shen Zhixi smirked coldly. “Even better if it does. That way you can’t move.”
She glanced over—and saw that Chi Lengzhao had already managed to get half her butt on the bed.
“Get off. Who said you could sit there?”
“I’m not getting off. The bed is comfortable.” Chi Lengzhao shamelessly sat down fully and even pulled the blanket over herself.
Shen Zhixi didn’t know where her anger came from, but she kicked her hard.
“Ouch!”
Chi Lengzhao finally understood why, in the book, Shen Zhixi was later able to manage Meixi Group all on her own.
She was ruthless. She kicked without hesitation, completely merciless.
Chi Lengzhao was chased off the bed and stood barefoot on the floor. But Shen Zhixi still didn’t seem satisfied. She raised her leg to kick again.
Just before the kick landed, Chi Lengzhao quickly grabbed her ankle and grinned mischievously.
“Zhixi, so you’re actually a little wild cat.”
Shen Zhixi’s face turned red as she felt her ankle being held. “Let go!”
“No. You kicked me and you expect me to just let go? Unless you promise not to kick me again.”
Her ankle was so slender and fair, hardly thicker than a wrist. Held in Chi Lengzhao’s palm, it felt soft and smooth, like a delicate piece of art. Her thoughts started to wander.
She didn’t dare squeeze too hard, afraid she might hurt something so beautiful.
“You’re such a scoundrel,” Shen Zhixi said, noticing how gently her foot was being held. She tried to break free with a firm tug, then kicked again with force.
Without thinking, Chi Lengzhao twisted her hand and lifted the delicate foot into the air.
The blanket on the bed had already been pulled aside during their struggle. Shen Zhixi was only wearing a nightdress. As she was pulled, the hem slid up to her waist.
Her long, bare legs were completely exposed, and even her pink underwear was clearly visible.
It was a complete wardrobe malfunction.
