Transmigrated as the Scumbag Alpha’s Gorgeous Wife Who Keeps Trying to Seduce Me - Chapter 29
The buildings at the scenic site dated back to the Ming Dynasty. They once belonged to a prominent family, with ancestors who had been celebrated generals with outstanding achievements. Though the estate had endured wars and unrest, the complex was still relatively well-preserved. It had everything—living quarters, bedrooms, gardens, ancestral halls, and even training grounds.
Two professional tour guides were already waiting at the gate.
There was still an hour before the site opened to the public, and that time was scheduled for filming the two teams as they followed the guides and learned about the location.
Each team entered through different side gates—one from the left, the other from the right—taking separate routes. Each team had one guide leading them.
The guide assigned to the wives’ team said, “Alright, we’re starting the tour now. As trainee guides, please pay attention. There’s quite a lot to remember.”
This kind of cultural and historical tour came with a lot of information. Just a single roof edge or a carved wall could have deep meaning. Even a tree or a painting had its own story. They couldn’t just point and say, “Look, it’s right there! The wall, the bed, the stone pillar—go take a look yourselves.”
Chi Lengzhao turned and asked, “Does anyone here have a good memory and can keep track of what the guide says?”
Everyone looked at each other in silence.
Zhou Ziqing said, “Captain Chi, we’re just normal people, not robots. Who can remember that much?”
Su Ci also shyly admitted she wasn’t good at memorizing and wouldn’t be able to keep it all straight.
Lu Meng and Liang Xiaoshu from the other team also shook their heads. “Captain Chi, we really can’t remember everything.”
Chi looked at Shen Zhixi, who quickly blushed and said, “My memory isn’t great either.”
Chi Lengzhao chuckled. “That’s normal. That’s why we need teamwork.”
Zhou Ziqing smiled. “Alright, Captain, don’t keep us in suspense. Just tell us what to do—we’re all ears.”
Chi nodded. “Okay. Since you all trusted me to be captain, let’s work together and try to win this.”
Then she started assigning roles:
“For the architectural details, Teacher Zhou—you seem to know the most, so can I count on you for that?”
Zhou Ziqing agreed immediately. “No problem.”
“Next, does anyone know a little about feng shui or layout design?”
Lu Meng raised her hand. “I do. Just a little.”
“Great. That’s yours.”
“For the plants,” Chi glanced at Su Ci, “let’s leave that to Teacher Su.”
“As for the biographies and stories of the people who lived here—that’s the biggest and most complicated part. We’ll have Teachers Liang and Shen handle that. Now that everyone’s got a role, let’s get started.”
“Wait a second,” Zhou Ziqing suddenly asked, “Captain, what about you? What’s your job?”
Chi Lengzhao smiled calmly. “I’m the captain, so I’ll be supervising all of you.”
“Freeloader!”
“Must be nice being in charge!”
At that moment, someone from Shi Xin’s team wandered over.
Chi immediately raised her voice. “Teacher Ma, you’re on the couples team! No eavesdropping on the wives’ team’s strategy!”
Zhou Ziqing added, “Yeah, don’t try to copy our tactics!”
Lu Meng chimed in, “That’s cheating, Teacher Ma! I’m going to report you to the producers for copying our answers!”
Ma Yue just laughed and quickly ran off—probably to tell team captain Shi Xin everything she overheard.
The guide asked, “Trainee guides, are you all ready?”
Chi replied, “Ready! Please begin. Alright, everyone, action!”
Each team member began focusing on memorizing their assigned parts. Because they were given real responsibilities, the tour wasn’t relaxing. It was more mentally draining than they had expected.
Only Chi Lengzhao looked completely at ease, casually glancing around, sometimes asking a few light questions like an actual tourist, strolling comfortably with nothing to do.
Zhou Ziqing whispered to Shen Zhixi, “Shen, is Captain Chi like this at home too? Doesn’t do any housework and just gives instructions?”
Shen Zhixi paused, thinking it over. “She does some housework.”
“Oh? Like what?”
Shen glanced at Chi. “She makes the bed. She does it every day.”
Zhou Ziqing blinked. “…I wasn’t expecting that.”
After walking through the tour once, most of them had memorized about 80–90% of the information.
Only Shen Zhixi and Liang Xiaoshu looked worried.
“There’s just too much,” Liang said. “I can’t remember it all.”
Chi reassured them. “Just do your best. As long as we do better than the other team, we’ll win.”
The hour passed quickly. Soon, staff brought over their outfits—green vests, red caps, and small yellow flags for each person.
The celebrity guide team was officially on duty.
As soon as the gates opened, a wave of tourists came flooding in.
Shen Zhixi and Zhou Ziqing stared in shock at the huge crowd. It felt like a tidal wave of people coming straight at them.
Chi Lengzhao stayed calm and raised her yellow flag, calling out cheerfully, “Free guided tour! Public service project! Come quickly while it lasts!”
The tourists perked up, Free? These days, what’s better than free?
In no time, 50 people had gathered, and the tour began.
One sharp-eyed visitor asked, “Hey, are those cameras?”
Chi smiled and replied, “We’re doing a limited-time special. You might even end up on TV!”
The moment they heard that, the tourists got excited. Many of them quickly fixed their clothes, tidied their bags, and adjusted their hairstyles.
Just as they had planned, each team member stepped up at the right time to explain their section. When one finished, the next picked up smoothly.
Captain Chi held up the yellow flag and kept the group in order.
The whole process went smoothly—organized, efficient, and well-coordinated.
Halfway through the tour, a middle-aged woman suddenly walked over and asked, “Why are all of you wearing sunglasses?”
Nearby, a group of young girls started whispering.
“Is that Shen Zhixi?”
“That one looks like Zhou Ziqing! Could Su Ci be here too?”
“No way. Did I actually just see my idol, Liang Xiaoshu, at a scenic spot?”
“That person really looks like Lu Meng…”
The celebrity team members tensed up. Were they really being recognized?
Chi Lengzhao, who was caught off guard, stayed silent.
She couldn’t exactly say they were wearing sunglasses to avoid being recognized.
As more people started casting curious glances their way, and with the production crew staying completely out of it, Chi quickly understood. This was part of today’s challenge.
“These aren’t regular sunglasses,” she said with a calm smile. “They’re specially issued for our team. They show temperature and humidity levels.”
One tourist asked, “Really? That high-tech?”
Another person added, “It’s not that rare. Some places are already using stuff like that.”
Chi gently waved them forward. “Alright, everyone, please follow me. We’ll continue providing professional explanations as we move along.”
Liang Xiaoshu leaned closer to Shen Zhixi and said quietly, “Your Captain Chi is really quick-witted.”
Shen Zhixi looked over at Chi Lengzhao. At that moment, Chi seemed to sense her gaze and turned to look back.
Both of them were wearing sunglasses, so their expressions couldn’t be seen clearly.
Still, Shen Zhixi noticed Chi’s lips curve into a soft smile. Even without words, it felt like she was saying, “Don’t worry.”
The tour went smoothly after that. When Su Ci stumbled at one point, Zhou Ziqing calmly stepped in and helped fill in the missing parts.
Su Ci’s nervous face slowly softened into a sweet and happy smile.
Shen Zhixi glanced at their hands, still tightly clasped together. Their fingers were interlocked, creating a sense of unity and support, like they could face anything as long as they were together.
A quiet wave of envy rose in Shen Zhixi’s chest. Almost without thinking, she looked at Chi Lengzhao.
She saw her standing tall and slender, wearing a polite smile while nodding at a tourist’s question.
Shen Zhixi turned back, smiling faintly as she followed the group ahead.
Soon, they reached the final stop: the ancestral hall. It was one of the most important points on the tour and held the most stories about the family’s history.
Shen Zhixi began her explanation. Her voice was soft and clear, with a natural calmness. Her cool, graceful presence stood out even in the plain tour guide uniform. She looked like she belonged in a movie scene. Visitors naturally gathered around her.
Several tourists started asking questions. Their sudden flood of inquiries distracted Shen Zhixi, and her train of thought was interrupted. She paused for a moment, unsure how to continue.
Luckily, Liang Xiaoshu stepped in to help her keep things moving.
But the ancestral hall was filled with deep cultural meaning, and many of the questions they received went beyond the materials they had memorized earlier.
Just as things were getting tricky, Chi Lengzhao spoke up confidently.
“The ancestral hall is a place used to honor ancestors or respected elders. It has several purposes, mainly for worship. But family members also hold important meetings here. Weddings and funerals are often held in this space as well.”
A tourist asked, “Why here though?”
Chi smiled. “Because it’s spacious. Just look around. Don’t you think you could fit thirty banquet tables in here?”
Everyone laughed, and their attention shifted to her explanation.
“The ancestral hall is also where the family head exercised authority. If anyone in the family broke a rule, they would come here to receive warnings or punishment.”
Another tourist joked, “So this is where they dunked people in pig cages in the old days?”
Laughter rippled through the group.
Chi replied, “Well, the judgment might have happened here. This was like a moral court during ancient times. But the actual punishment, like dunking, would take place at a pond. This is the hall, not the pond.”
That earned another round of laughter.
“So this place was basically the family’s courtroom,” someone said with amusement.
Chi continued, “But don’t think of it as a scary place. It was also a community space. Children studied here, learned to read and write.”
One tourist grinned and asked, “Because it’s spacious, right?”
Someone else added, “That must be it!”
The tour wrapped up successfully with the first group of visitors.
During the ten-minute break, the team got back on the bus to rest and have some water.
With no cameras rolling, everyone let their guard down.
Zhou Ziqing flopped into her seat. “My back is killing me. That was exhausting! We had to stand the whole time and keep talking.”
Su Ci asked, “Want me to give you a massage?”
Liang Xiaoshu teased her, “Not here. There’s not enough space. Wait until we’re back. Ziqing, you lie on the bed and let Su Su give you a proper massage. However you want it. Wherever you want it.”
Zhou Ziqing rolled her eyes. “Xiaoshu, you do know we’re in public, right? Don’t say things like that out loud.”
Liang Xiaoshu laughed. “Come on, we’re all married now. There’s nothing to be shy about. Don’t you agree, Miss Shen?”
Shen Zhixi’s face flushed red in an instant. Worried they’d keep going and accidentally slip into something R-rated, she quickly lowered her head and muttered, “Mhm.”
Su Ci looked around. “Xiaoshu, where’s Lu Meng?”
“She said she went to spy on the other team,” Liang said while sipping water. Then she glanced around. “Speaking of which, where’s our Captain Chi?”
The three of them all looked toward Shen Zhixi.
She blinked, caught off guard.
She had already noticed that Chi Lengzhao hadn’t returned to the bus with them, but she didn’t know where she had gone either.
Blushing, she replied, “She’ll be here soon.”
The others didn’t catch her awkward tone and moved on to a new topic.
“Seriously, we have to thank Captain Chi today.”
“When the lady asked about the sunglasses, I totally panicked. I was scared she’d make me take mine off. Thank goodness Captain Chi handled it so smoothly.”
“And during the ancestral hall part—honestly, she explained more than the actual tour guide.”
“She really is impressive. So knowledgeable.”
While they talked, Shen Zhixi lowered her head and sent a message to Chi:
“Where are you?”
She glanced out the window. The sunlight was blazing, and it felt like they were being roasted out there.
She sent another message:
“Do you want to come back on the bus and rest a little?”
Just as the message was sent, Chi Lengzhao boarded the bus. She was holding two bags filled with sliced fruit platters.
“Ladies, I brought some fruit to help cool off,” she said, handing the plates out to everyone.
“Thanks, Captain!”
“You’re so thoughtful.”
Liang Xiaoshu laughed while munching on watermelon. “Let’s be honest. We’re all lucky to be on Shen Zhixi’s team.”
Chi Lengzhao opened a box of watermelon and placed it in front of Shen Zhixi. “Have some, it’ll help with the heat.”
The juicy red watermelon had been cut into bite-sized pieces, easy to pick up. Shen Zhixi used the small bamboo skewer already stuck in one of the pieces and brought it to her mouth.
It tasted freshly cut, sweet and crisp, cooling her right down.
After a bite, Shen Zhixi softly said, “You should have some too.”
Chi nodded in response. After watching her eat a couple more pieces, she finally sat down beside her, rested the box on her lap, and picked up a piece for herself.
They had just come out from the heritage site. Outside, there wasn’t much shade. The few trees in the square were already packed with tourists. Chi had stood under the blazing sun for a while, making several phone calls. Now, she was really feeling the heat. Her bangs were damp with sweat and stuck to her forehead.
Suddenly, a hand appeared in front of her, holding a wet wipe. Shen Zhixi’s pale, slender fingers delicately held the tissue between them.
Chi turned to look at her and smiled gently. “Thanks,” she said, taking it and using it to wipe the sweat from her forehead and neck.
“Did you go buy the fruit just now?” Shen asked casually.
“I actually asked Xiaomo to prepare it earlier. I figured we’d all be thirsty after working as guides today,” Chi replied with a smile. “I borrowed your assistant without telling you first. You’re not mad, are you?”
Shen paused for a second, then smiled too. “Of course not.”
She asked again, “Were you handling company stuff earlier?”
“Not exactly. Remember when I made up that thing about the sunglasses showing temperature and humidity? I figured I should actually follow through.” Chi took another bite of watermelon. The refreshing sweetness flowed down her throat, cooling her from the inside out. “So I spoke with the show’s production team and offered to donate some real glasses like that to the site. They contacted the site’s management, and the leadership welcomed the idea. I was calling the manufacturer. They’ve worked with Chisheng before.”
Shen Zhixi looked surprised and pressed her lips together gently. “You really are a woman of your word, President Chi.”
Chi grinned. “Of course.”
Just then, Lu Meng came rushing back onto the bus. “Did you guys hear? That other team almost had a blow-up. Their Captain Shi Xin totally lost it. She yelled at Lu Manni right on the spot—‘You can’t even remember this much? Are you brainless?’ Lu Manni got so mad she tried to storm off. The rest of the team and the crew had to step in to calm things down.”
Liang Xiaoshu gasped. “Seriously?”
“Yeah. Ma Yue told me. She even asked if we’d be willing to switch teammates.”
“Don’t you dare say yes!”
“I didn’t. I told her we’re the wives’ team. If they want to join us, they better go get married first.”
“Hahaha! I love how quick you are!” Liang Xiaoshu hugged her and planted a kiss on her cheek, only to frown immediately after. “Ew, so sweaty!”
A few minutes later, Shi Xin’s team finally boarded the bus too. Shi Xin looked furious and sat down without saying a word to anyone.
Lu Manni wore sunglasses. Her lips were pressed tightly together as she scanned the bus before quietly sitting next to Shi Xin.
None of their teammates said much. A few looked over at Lu Meng and Zhou Ziqing with helpless expressions.
Even the host could sense the tension. He figured it would be hard to get any cheerful footage from them now. Luckily, the ride back wasn’t part of the must-film content.
“You all did a fantastic job today. Thank you, everyone. Now, please take some time to rest.”
Just as they were about to return to the hotel, the production team sent out a last-minute update. There was a schedule change. The ballroom dance scene that was supposed to be filmed later was moved up to today.
Several guests reacted with surprise. “Why the sudden change?”
“Wasn’t that supposed to be for the last episode?”
The crew explained it was because of the weather. “Since it’s not too hot right now and the evening light will be beautiful, we thought it was the perfect time to shoot something light and relaxing.”
Everyone was sticky and sweaty after the day’s activities and couldn’t wait to get back to their rooms to shower.
Back in their room, both Shen Zhixi and Chi Lengzhao were flushed from the heat. Shen’s fair skin was tinged with pink. She looked at Chi, and Chi looked right back at her. They both spoke at the same time.
“You go shower first.”
Chi reached into the mini-fridge and grabbed a bottle of mineral water. “You go ahead. I’ll check some emails while I have time.”
Shen Zhixi knew Chi was trying to let her shower first on purpose. She didn’t say much, simply picked up her clothes and headed to the bathroom.
When she came out, freshly showered and with her hair washed, Chi was still sitting at the desk working on her laptop.
“I’m done. You can go now.” Shen was wearing a cool, lightweight camisole dress. She slowly dried her damp hair with a towel, but water still dripped from the ends and slid down her neck. Her chest quickly became soaked, and her pale skin looked so soft and dewy it almost glowed. It was a sight that easily stirred the imagination.
Chi glanced at her, gave a short hum in response, and turned back to her emails. But a second later, she suddenly stood up. “The camera’s still on!”
Shen Zhixi, amused by her reaction, smiled. “I turned it off when I came in.”
Chi clearly let out a breath of relief. “Good. It would’ve been a disaster if they caught you looking like this.”
Shen Zhixi blushed, quietly replied with a hum, and awkwardly pulled her towel over her chest.
Was she wearing something too revealing in front of Chi? After all, Chi was an Alpha and she was an Omega, and they weren’t a real couple.
Seeing her flustered and uncomfortable, Chi smiled. “Xixi, that nightdress looks really good on you. How come I’ve never seen it before? Just act like we’re at home, okay? On a day this hot, who wants to put on more layers after showering? Don’t you agree?”
Shen Zhixi gave a small nod, her expression finally easing up.
Chi returned to her seat and continued working without looking up. “Relax. It’s just the two of us here. Wear whatever feels comfortable. Stay as cool as you want. I may be an Alpha, but I’d never do anything an Omega didn’t want. Pretend I’m not even here. I’m as harmless as a piece of furniture.”
Shen Zhixi couldn’t help but laugh. “Why are you talking about yourself like that? If someone didn’t know better, they’d think you… you…”
She wanted to say “you’re not capable,” but felt it might be too rude, especially to an Alpha.
“What, you think I’m boring? Or not capable?” Chi’s focus was still on her work, and she casually added, “Well, I’m really not.”
Shen Zhixi paused, stunned for a second. She almost asked what Chi meant, but when she saw how focused she was on her laptop, looking every bit like a composed, professional CEO, she decided not to interrupt.
Quietly, she turned and walked away, but the words still echoed in her head.
“I’m really not.”
Did I hear her right?
Chi Lengzhao: Honestly, I really mean it—I’m not.
Shen Zhixi: I don’t believe it. No Alpha would ever say that unless they absolutely meant it.
