- Chapter 107 - We’re Just… Trying It Out
Qi Siyu had never seen these kinds of things up close before, but with the internet being what it was these days, of course she knew what they were.
And precisely because she recognized them, her face burned even hotter—she wanted nothing more than to find a crack in the floor and disappear into it.
She’d just gone to fetch Gu Qing’s clothes, yet somehow ended up sneaking one of her… little toys back with her. How on earth was she supposed to explain this so Gu Qing would believe it had been entirely unintentional?
Wait a minute—why would Gu Qing even have something like this? She looked every inch the cool, untouchable fairy who kept herself far above worldly affairs. And yet, in private… she played with these? That contrast was way too much for Qi Siyu’s brain to handle.
No, no, no—her mind unhelpfully conjured up that morning when Gu Qing had straddled her. That had been plenty of contrast already!
Qi Siyu’s thoughts fought a civil war: one side burned with shame and wanted to launch her straight into orbit, while the other couldn’t help but imagine what Gu Qing would look like playing with such a toy.
Ahhhhhhh! Qi Siyu squatted down and buried her face in her knees. She was done for.
Gu Qing didn’t reach out to pull her up, nor did she speak. Instead, she sat down at the edge of the bed and casually turned on the little toy.
A low “buzz, buzz, buzz” instantly filled the otherwise silent room.
Qi Siyu’s head shot up—and found herself face to face with the thing. The toy, shaped like a little monster, stuck out a vibrating tongue that trembled violently.
Oh no oh no oh no—what if someone next door hears this?!
Qi Siyu, who prided herself on always being composed, felt like she was about to explode. Her face was so red it could’ve branded steel. She lunged forward, snatched the toy, and, trembling, switched it off.
Silence returned. The only thing Qi Siyu could hear now was her own pounding heartbeat—fast, chaotic, and loud.
She was half-kneeling at the edge of the bed, propped up on her elbows. Beside her, Gu Qing sat unhurried and calm.
“You turned it off,” Gu Qing said evenly. “So use your lips and tongue instead.”
Qi Siyu:
Qi Siyu: ?!
She swallowed hard, scrambling for an excuse. “The hotel’s soundproofing isn’t great.”
“Then just keep your voice down,” Gu Qing replied lightly.
“That’s not—” Wait, when had this turned into her agreeing? Qi Siyu felt her head about to explode. “I… that… that thing—”
“Mmm…”
Her words were cut off—Gu Qing’s lips pressed against hers. Her mouth was pried open, and a nimble tongue—carrying a faint taste of chocolate and red wine—swept through her, teasing past teeth, tracing the tender inner walls, looping back to tangle with Qi Siyu’s own tongue.
The practiced skill of it left Qi Siyu dazed, even as an unexpected pang of sourness crept into her chest.
Just how many people had Gu Qing kissed to get this good?
Jealousy flared, and Qi Siyu stopped dodging. She launched a clumsy counterattack—messy, uncoordinated, all bite and no finesse—ending only when Gu Qing let out a muffled sound of pain.
Somehow, Qi Siyu had ended up holding Gu Qing tightly in her arms, and the two had fallen back onto the bed.
“Sorry,” Qi Siyu muttered, “let me see where I hurt you.”
Gu Qing licked the inside of her lower lip, her tongue brushing over a trace of blood. Her voice carried a faint, amused lilt. “As expected of Director Qi—bit on the inside so it won’t affect filming.”
“I didn’t mean to,” Qi Siyu mumbled, utterly unable to explain herself.
“Mhm. Continue.” Gu Qing’s gaze flicked to the little monster toy now lying on the floor—her meaning crystal clear.
Qi Siyu froze. “I-I don’t know how. I’ve never… done it before.”
“Seems like Director Qi’s the triggered type—needs a few drinks first,” Gu Qing remarked blandly.
Qi Siyu’s cheeks burned hotter. Since she couldn’t remember a thing from that night, she had no way to argue. In the end, she could only mutter, “Then… teach me.”
A spring night stretched long.
—
The next morning, Gu Qing woke in her own room. She had slipped back quietly in the middle of the night.
【Why’d you leave? You need to stay close to keep your energy up!】 The system could not comprehend her logic.
“Give her a little time to be shy,” Gu Qing replied, glancing at her hand—the bandage was still firmly in place.
Last night, Qi Siyu had been thrown completely off by the toy she’d brought back herself. After being teased a bit, she’d abandoned her embarrassment and… obediently put in the work.
By morning, Gu Qing knew Qi Siyu would be mortified enough to want to vanish from the earth. Better to give her some space.
Sure enough, Qi Siyu’s reaction matched her prediction perfectly.
When she opened her eyes, she immediately felt the soreness in her fingers, lips, and every muscle in her body. Memories of the night before crashed back into her mind all at once, overloading her brain and leaving her stunned.
Wait—where was Gu Qing?
Qi Siyu bolted upright, scanning the room. But with only fifty square meters of space and nowhere to hide a person, it didn’t take long for her to realize Gu Qing wasn’t there.
A check of her phone revealed a message from the night before—Gu Qing had said she’d gone back to her own room to sleep.
Judging by the timestamp, she’d left not long after… that… while Qi Siyu was still fast asleep.
What did that make her?
A… fully automated massage toy?
Qi Siyu bit her handkerchief in frustration. Yes, she’d enjoyed herself too, but that wasn’t the point!
The real issue was—last night, fully sober—painfully sober—she had slept with Gu Qing.
Slept. With. Her!!!
She tried to replay how it had happened, but all her mind served up was Gu Qing’s face, Gu Qing’s hands, and… all of Gu Qing.
Oh my god. How did I never realize I was such a shameless pervert before?
Well… what was done was done. She’d just have to accept it.
During filming, Qi Siyu still acted a bit shy around her, but at lunch she actually took the initiative to invite Gu Qing to eat with her.
They both had boxed lunches—slightly better than what the extras got.
Inside the director’s lounge, Qi Siyu waited until Gu Qing sat down, then locked the door before taking a seat herself.
“Ahem, I want to talk to you,” Qi Siyu began.
“Mm.” Gu Qing peeled open the lid of her lunchbox, her movements leisurely—such a stark contrast to the tense, fidgety Qi Siyu across from her.
“So… um… since we already have such an… intimate relationship,” Qi Siyu stammered, “you like me, I like you—why don’t we give it a try?”
She had never been in a relationship before, but she’d been confessed to plenty of times. The lines were always the same, just dressed up differently. After careful consideration, Qi Siyu had chosen the words give it a try.
After all, they’d only known each other for a few days. They barely had a surface-level grasp of each other’s personalities, and their living habits might not even match.
In Qi Siyu’s mind, jumping into a relationship this quickly simply didn’t make sense. But reality didn’t bother listening to her rules, and she was powerless against it.
“All right. Let’s give it a try.” Gu Qing savored those four words—strange and unfamiliar. Still, it was about what she’d expected. Looks like they were officially dating now.
“And, um…” Qi Siyu was still fumbling for words, which actually caught Gu Qing a little off guard.
“And what?” Gu Qing prompted.
“I just need to be sure—there’s no… lingering ties between you and your ex, or exes, right? I’m the type who’s very devoted. Even if it’s just a trial run, I wouldn’t want…” Qi Siyu’s voice grew smaller and smaller until it almost faded away entirely.
She admitted it—she cared way too much about Gu Qing’s past kissing partners and… other partners.
Of course Gu Qing had an ex! How else would she be so experienced? The more Qi Siyu thought about it, the sourer her heart felt.
Gu Qing had actually forgotten about this detail. She gave a light laugh. “No.”
Once Qi Siyu got her memory back, this little moment would probably become one of their favorite long-running inside jokes. Gu Qing thought of the old Qi Siyu—the one who loved her with her whole heart—and felt a flicker of longing.
Still embarrassed, Qi Siyu pressed on for confirmation. “When you say no, you mean…”
“No lingering ties. In fact, there’s no ex at all. I’ve never had one.” Gu Qing was telling the truth—Qi Siyu was her first and only.
What Qi Siyu chose to believe, however, was beyond her control.
Clearly, Qi Siyu took it the wrong way. “My condolences,” she said solemnly.
If there was no ex in this world, that could only mean… they were dead.
A dead person—well, in that case, she could be magnanimous about it.
All in all, Qi Siyu considered the outcome of this lunch meeting a success.
“How about dinner tonight with Shi Ying? We can clear up what happened last night and tell her we’re basically a couple now.” Basically might have been the word she said out loud, but deep down she’d already decided to introduce Gu Qing to her friends.
Somewhere in her heart, she’d always believed Gu Qing was hers.
Reason and emotion were always wrestling inside her.
“Sure,” Gu Qing said, remembering the bag of skewers. “By the way, the barbecue she brought last night—I put it in the fridge.”
Qi Siyu blinked, took a moment, then remembered. “Ah, right. Well, she can have that tonight. We’ll eat something fresh.”

That evening, in the hotel restaurant, Shi Ying stared at the sad, cold skewers on the table, question marks practically floating above her head.
“Wait—you invite me to dinner and serve this?” If Gu Qing wasn’t sitting right there, her fist might already have landed on Qi Siyu’s shoulder.
That’s the thing about bad friends—they’re really bad.
Qi Siyu just spread her hands. “Can’t waste food, right? You bought it—you finish it.”
“At least have the kitchen heat it up!” Shi Ying spluttered. “What are you two eating?”
“Ladies, your grilled lamb chops. Careful, they’re hot,” the waiter said, setting down a steaming plate fragrant enough to make mouths water.
“Just some lamb chops. Simple taste,” Qi Siyu said with a smile.
Shi Ying ground her teeth and tried to kick Qi Siyu under the table—but Qi Siyu had already lifted her foot in anticipation.
With no target to hit, Shi Ying’s misplaced force made her slip right off her chair and land on the floor with a thump.
“Hahahahaha!” Qi Siyu laughed until her eyes watered.
Gu Qing, unfazed, calmly carved the lamb chops and placed neatly cut pieces onto Qi Siyu’s plate.
Still chuckling, Qi Siyu went over to pull Shi Ying up.
Shi Ying’s gaze rose from under the table to the sight of Gu Qing serving Qi Siyu. “You two…”
Her eyes darted back and forth between them before locking onto Qi Siyu.
“Out with it!” Shi Ying hissed. “What’s going on here, and how far have you two gotten?”
“As you can see.” Qi Siyu swirled back into her seat, took Gu Qing’s hand, and laced their fingers together. “We’re together.”
Shi Ying froze, then backed up half a step. “You! Which fox spirit are you? Get off my Qi!”
She knew her childhood friend far too well. There was no way Qi Siyu would jump into a relationship with someone she’d known barely a month.
Absolutely. No way.
Shi Ying glanced at Gu Qing, only to find her casually eating with her free hand. The sheer composure made her pause.
How could anyone stay that calm?
One more glance and Shi Ying looked away. For some reason, it felt like being a mouse caught under a cat’s stare.
Qi Siyu felt awkward under her friend’s suspicion. Heaven knew how long she’d agonized over this—she hadn’t had a full night’s sleep in days!
“Shut up and eat,” Qi Siyu said, glaring. “I have my reasons.”
“Pfft.” Shi Ying bit into a cold rice cake, only to find it too hard to chew. She set it back down, embarrassed. “Let me guess—you two sped things up because you’ve already slept together? Was it an aphrodisiac, or just drunk sex?”
Gu Qing glanced at her, expression unreadable. No wonder she’s Qi Siyu’s best friend—she really does know her well.
And yet… this world’s Qi Siyu had family and friends. She wasn’t wholly hers alone.
“We’re just trying it out. If it doesn’t work, we’ll break up,” Gu Qing said lightly.
