Transmigrated as the Heroine’s Perfect Alpha - Chapter 9
“Why are you crying? If your skin is that thin, why did you even come here today?”
“Oh, right. That time you brought Lin Man to my house claiming you had lost something, did you ever find it?”
“What was it? Is it important? If you need to, should I have my housekeeper help you look for it?”
“……”
Xie Ling could not stop herself; the more she spoke, the more excessive it became.
Ji Xue’s face turned burning red, from her cheeks all the way to the tips of her ears. Tears swirled in her eyes, threatening to spill over at any moment.
Having been bound to the “Little Rebel” system for so long, Xie Ling had picked up the essence of being a “rogue-themed” character who knew exactly how to infuriate others. At this moment, she was not just acting like a hooligan; she was a sharp-tongued viper dedicated to exposing people’s insecurities.
As for the flashy supercar she was driving, it was currently being handled like a slow-crawling turtle shell.
The car moved at a standard exam speed of twenty-five kilometers per hour. Xie Ling kept her eyes on the road with a serious expression, but she would occasionally glance at Ji Xue from the corner of her eye. Thinking it was finally time for a normal conversation, she asked casually, “Are you and Lin Man together?”
To her surprise, this genuinely casual inquiry caused Ji Xue to burst into loud sobs.
“???” Xie Ling was confused. She had not used any unpleasant tone at all.
Ji Xue had never cried this uncontrollably in front of her classmates. She felt incredibly aggrieved; when Xie Ling had said so many biting remarks earlier, she had not lost control, but that final, calm sentence had been the breaking point.
Watching Ji Xue sob, Xie Ling felt a flicker of nervousness, but she forced herself to relax her expression immediately.
Seeing this, the “Little Rebel” could not help but exclaim, “Amazing, sister!”
If she could, Xie Ling would have rolled her eyes to the heavens. She never wanted things to end up like this!
However, if she showed even a shred of kindness, she would be electrocuted!
When she first saw Ji Xue walking along the roadside, she had simply wanted to offer her a ride. But the moment the words left her mouth, she regretted it; for her, letting the female lead ride in her car was a violation of the rules!
As an adult who had lived for a long time, Xie Ling understood that paying the price for her impulses was not just an empty phrase.
Unfortunately, lacking foresight, she never imagined she would make Ji Xue cry like this, nor did she expect to encounter Lin Man, who should have been busy signing documents in her CEO office, in such a scenario.
When her royal blue sports car was forced to a stop by a black Maybach, the bewildered Xie Ling finally realized what “camera” the Little Rebel had mentioned, and why she had gained that +1 frustration point.
Just moments ago, when she had accidentally crushed the fruit basket at the entrance of someone’s house with her car, Lin Man had already witnessed everything through the surveillance footage linked to her phone.
It was well known that the daughter of the Xie family, Xie Ling, was an expert driver. Therefore, such an “accident” was no accident at all.
What angered Lin Man even more was that she saw in the surveillance that the fruit basket had been placed there by Ji Xue, and a minute later, at the edge of the camera’s view, Ji Xue had gotten into Xie Ling’s car.
Lin Man had seen Xie Ling’s malice before, and she was well aware of Ji Xue’s fragility.
So, blinded by rage, Lin Man had misunderstood, gotten angry, and sent people to cause trouble for Xie Ling.
The person involved, Xie Ling, had not anticipated this at all. She glanced at the tear-stained Ji Xue and tossed a few tissues from the side compartment toward her.
“Wipe it off, you look too ugly when you cry.” Xie Ling admitted she was lying; in reality, Ji Xue looked pitiful and heart-wrenching!
However, she could not say that, and she certainly could not show it.
Three black Mercedes-Benz cars blocked Xie Ling from the left, right, and rear, while Lin Man’s Maybach cut directly in front of her, leaving obvious tire marks and an ear-piercing screech on the pavement.
Judging by the posture, it was clear they were here for revenge.
Xie Ling took her hands off the steering wheel, leaned back, and took a deep breath, her mind going blank.
The scene changed too suddenly, yet it did not feel unfamiliar.
Once upon a time, this was exactly the kind of scenario she loved to write.
Lin Man opened the car door and stepped out of the black Maybach.
Xie Ling squinted to watch.
Dressed entirely in black, Lin Man exuded an intense atmosphere. No extra adjectives were needed; one look was enough; she was the domineering CEO here to rescue her beloved.
Xie Ling looked down at herself, wearing a milky-white coat and a turtleneck sweater, lacking any sense of intimidation. In terms of color choice alone, she had already lost.
However, even if she lost, she would not admit defeat. This was the tenacity of a villain.
Ji Xue in the passenger seat had already wiped away her tears, looking innocent and weak, quite endearing. Xie Ling frowned, ignored the beauty, coldly unbuckled her seatbelt, and opened the door.
Her pure white sneakers stepped onto the asphalt. Xie Ling stood in front of the door. A gust of wind blew by, lifting her long, casually tied curly hair.
Actually, looking closely, she was not necessarily losing; after all, their styles were quite different.
“Lin Man, what is the meaning of this?” Xie Ling shoved her hands into her coat pockets, her expression as cold and impatient as it had been when dealing with Ji Xue.
Lin Man lifted her chin, her eyes locked firmly on Ji Xue inside the car. “I should be the one asking you that, Xie Ling. What is the meaning of this?”
“……” Yeah, what is the meaning of this? Xie Ling looked back and her heart sank. The visibility of the front windshield was way too clear.
Lin Man withdrew her tender gaze, and when she looked at Xie Ling, her eyes were freezing. “Are you trying to compete with me?”
“Compete with you?” Xie Ling blinked and straightened her back. “Since you put it that way, if I deny it, would that not be a bit disrespectful to you?”
Little Rebel: “Congratulations, frustration level +2!”
Hearing the notification in her ear, Xie Ling almost spat out her frustration, but she steadied her mind, thinking it was a blessing in disguise.
Lin Man’s pretty face turned dark and ugly. She said coldly, “Heh, you? Who in Hai City does not know that you, Xie Ling, do not like Omegas?”
Xie Ling was stunned. Huh? There is a rumor like that? She did not remember that being part of Xie Ling’s character settings!
“If you cannot, then you cannot. Why pretend? Do you really think no one knows about your little secret?” After saying this, Lin Man did not even glance at Xie Ling again. She bypassed her and sat into the blue sports car, which still had the driver-side door open.
Xie Ling’s head was spinning. She watched blankly as Lin Man brushed past her, sat in her car with a thick skin, and began to personally unbuckle the seatbelt in front of Ji Xue.
While bewildered, she began to carefully chew on the implication of Lin Man saying she “cannot.”
As an Alpha, being told she “cannot,” was this not equivalent to mocking a man for his performance in her original world? So, is Lin Man mocking my sexual ability?
That is absolutely intolerable!
Lin Man, leaning over, paused when she saw the tissue in Ji Xue’s hand, her eyes flashing with a hint of irritation. However, when she looked up and saw the tear-streaked eyes, a fleeting flash of panic crossed her face.
The more Xie Ling thought, the angrier she became. She leaned numbly against the front of the car, watching like a spectator as Lin Man personally helped Ji Xue out of the car, stuffed her into the Maybach ahead, and then turned back to release a fierce wave of pheromones toward her.
As the aggressive pheromones hit, Xie Ling subconsciously glanced at her own car with its windows tightly closed. Then, without changing her expression, she retorted, “Is this interesting? Lin Man, do not tell me you really think your sour-sweet pheromones can do anything to me?”
Lin Man had only intended to drive Xie Ling away so she could go back to comforting the little crybaby sitting in her car, but she had not expected Xie Ling to remain unfazed and even mock her.
Xie Ling had not expected Lin Man to be so childish either. She thought for a moment and said, “If you truly care about Ji Xue, I suggest you pull those back.”
We are all Alphas here; who does not know how to release pheromones?
If she had not been unable to stand that coffee scent, the last time Lin Man grabbed her collar, she would have used her own pheromones to fumigate this SOB CEO!
Really, it was just speechless.
However, there was one good thing. Xie Ling discovered that her frustration level was directly related to Lin Man. It seemed that every time Lin Man used her incredible brain logic to misunderstand her, the value would increase.
Thinking about it, it was a pity about the misunderstanding at the birthday party. If the system had appeared and started this counter earlier, maybe her score would be two or three points higher by now.
The more Xie Ling thought, the more she felt the pinch of regret, and she could not help but complain a bit.
The Little Rebel did not buy it: “This system has the final right of interpretation. Keep slandering the system, and watch out for points deduction!”
Xie Ling: “……”
However, what no one expected was that as the mocked Lin Man’s pheromones were gradually retracted, the girl who should have been sitting in the Maybach suddenly collapsed onto the road with a thud.
Lin Man instinctively wanted to go over to help Ji Xue, but the lingering pheromones she had just released made the Omega shivering on the ground even more distressed.
Xie Ling gestured toward Lin Man and walked over quickly. After helping Ji Xue up, she did not forget to look back. “See? I warned you.”
Lin Man watched Ji Xue leaning on Xie Ling, her eyes filled with unspeakable regret and confusion. “Did I not tell you to sit still in the car? Why did you get out?”
Xie Ling looked down at the pale-lipped Ji Xue, then looked up and glared at Lin Man. She helped Ji Xue back into the passenger seat, walked around the front of the car, and climbed in. As she closed the door, she was blocked by the hand of the shocked Lin Man.
“She needs to go to the hospital.” Xie Ling looked up at Lin Man outside the car, her face cold, still holding a grudge about Lin Man mocking her performance.
Lin Man looked through the glass at Ji Xue, who was curled up in pain. Her gaze held a hint of pleading, but her tone remained domineering. “Ji Xue, get out, come with me.”
Xie Ling, who did not know where the hospital was, was not necessarily obsessed with having Ji Xue follow her, but with even a modicum of common sense, she felt Lin Man should not just be using words to express her demands. It was obvious that Ji Xue was not capable of making a choice right now.
Xie Ling shifted aside, her expression unchanged. “Why do you not try calling her name again? See if she will go with you?”
“Ji Xue!” Lin Man looked at Xie Ling’s calm demeanor and felt provoked, yet she could not bring herself to force her way in and carry Ji Xue away.
Xie Ling placed her hands on the steering wheel, looked at the Maybach blocking her path, and then at Lin Man standing beside the car. She said coldly, “Move.”
The Little Rebel’s electronic voice sounded again: “Congratulations, frustration level +1.”
