Transmigrated as the Chongxi Wife of a Critically Ill Young Lady - Chapter 44
Chapter 44
After the young madam was kissed unconscious, the car became quiet. Dr. Yan, having packed up his medical bag, returned to his seat. After a long while, he suddenly said, “Miss Cen, approximately how many times did you reward her before she started speaking?”
Cen Xia thought for a moment and answered seriously, “Countless times.”
She had a sense of awe for Dr. Yan, and since he was known for his eccentric and difficult personality, Cen Xia was always nervous when she spoke to him.
Compared to the scene a few minutes ago where the young madam reached out to pull on her collar, her current meek and sensible answer seemed to be a deliberate act of public affection.
Dr. Yan gave an unreadable “Mhmm” and continued his interrogation. “When was the last time? What did you do to her?”
This time, Cen Xia didn’t think for too long. She recalled in a matter-of-fact tone, “This morning, she wanted to use a diaper. I agreed. She hugged me and acted cute, saying ‘Xiaxia, so good.’ I kissed her and told her to say ‘Xiaxia’ again for another kiss. She paused for a few seconds, then said it again. I kissed her three times in a row, and she just kept saying my name.”
Dr. Yan seemed very persistent and asked with disbelief, “Is that all?”
Cen Xia answered, “Yes.”
He thought about it for a moment, then slowly gave another “Mhmm” and said, “Then you can try a bigger reward.”
Cen Xia was startled and looked up at him.
Dr. Yan said expressionlessly, “For example, sex.”
Cen Xia’s cheeks flushed, and she subconsciously lowered her head.
Dr. Yan continued, “The medical diagnosis is out. You can sue before the shareholders’ meeting.”
Cen Xia’s arms tightened around Jiwanching. The heat on her face receded. She replied, “Okay,” as tears welled up in her downcast eyes. She bit her lip, quietly enduring.
It was an expected result, but in this moment when the truth came out, she still couldn’t comprehend the malevolence of human hearts or what Jiwanching had endured all those years…
About half a minute later, Dr. Yan spoke again, something rare for him. “You don’t need to worry. It’s curable. She just doesn’t want to speak. It has little to do with her throat itself.”
His cold words contained a sense of comfort and approval for the current madam.
To be honest, before the young madam’s temporary loss of sight and taste and this girl came to him to cause a scene, he didn’t think she was capable of handling anything. But in just a few days, she not only handled their relationship but also got the patient to speak in such a short time. From a doctor’s perspective and a friend’s perspective, he genuinely felt that she was a remarkable person.
Cen Xia nodded. After a moment of silence, she asked, “Can she still sing?”
Yan Shuang didn’t answer right away. After a few seconds, he said with an uncertain tone, “She can, probably.”
Cen Xia’s eyes fell on Jiwanching’s face. Her sleeping face was very peaceful, her breathing was steady, and the pulse on the side of her neck and throat was faintly throbbing. She remembered when she first came, how Jiwanching would be tormented by nightmares, clutching her neck and gasping for air. More tears welled up in her eyes. She held them back, smiled faintly, and murmured, “This is already good. This is already very good…”
She brushed the bangs on Jiwanching’s temples behind her ears. Jiwanching would occasionally purse her lips, and in her sleep, she would call her name in a hoarse voice that was almost a whisper.
Under the driver’s control, the car moved slowly forward. The night was quiet, and the blurry streetlights outside the window shone on her face.
Cen Xia looked at her features with a mesmerizing, greedy gaze. Looking at her sleeping, she thought that things were already so good. If they just grit their teeth and held on, the future would only be better.
The drive from the city to the house took almost two hours. Jiwanching slept the entire way. When they got out of the car, she was still asleep. Cen Xia held her. Her nose nuzzled into Cen Xia’s chest. She was still unconscious, but she was calling her name in her sleep.
Cen Xia lowered her head, kissed her forehead comfortingly, and said, “We’re home, Sister.”
Jiwanching’s body was severely overdrawn. She wanted to wake up, but she couldn’t lift her eyelids. Her nose nuzzled in a little further, and she called out “Xiaxia.”
Cen Xia held her and walked into the house. All the housekeepers had been replaced. The night shift was a few college students working part-time. Seeing them come in, a few girls came forward.
“Sister Cen Xia, do you need help?”
Cen Xia smiled and asked with concern, “You haven’t rested yet, so late?”
The leading girl laughed heartily and answered naturally, “We were waiting for you to come back. We left some food in the kitchen. Do you need us to heat it up?”
Cen Xia looked at Jiwanching, smiled fondly, and said, “No need. She only eats noodle stew. Can you open the door for me? You guys have a late-night snack and get some rest soon!”
Another girl scurried up, stood by the door, and prepared to open it.
The others also followed them upstairs.
Cen Xia chatted with them. “Are your studies not busy lately?”
They said, “It’s okay. Compared to our first and second years, our third year is much more relaxed. We’re working part-time to save money so we can travel after we graduate.”
Cen Xia remembered her past self. When she was in school, she also worked part-time like them. During the most difficult time, she worked seven part-time jobs in one day. By the night, she was so tired her body felt like it was falling apart, but she felt very fulfilled.
The girls chatted until they reached the third floor. Shanqing was scratching at the door from inside, meowing.
A girl asked, “Sister Cen Xia, do you have a kitten inside?”
Cen Xia looked at the person in her arms again and said, “Yes, there’s a little ragdoll. She’s as cute as your sister Wanqing. She loves it!”
The girls gasped, “Is it very aloof? Sister Wanqing looks so cold!”
Cen Xia, protective of her, kissed the person in her arms and said, “No, Sister Wanqing is very cute. She’s just not very familiar with everyone yet. She’s a little shy.”
The girls gasped again.
The door opened, and Shanqing poked its head out. Seeing so many people at the door, it shrank back.
The girls shrieked, “It’s so cute!”
Cen Xia said, “Its name is Shanqing. The name was given by your sister Wanqing.”
Everyone laughed.
“Who gives a cat such a strange name!”
“She’s showing off her love, you single dog wouldn’t understand!”
…
Laughter filled the air, making the usually quiet villa unusually lively.
The girls wanted to play with the kitten, but seeing that Jiwanching was still unconscious, they didn’t want to make a fuss, so they went back to rest.
Cen Xia carried her into the room. Shanqing wound around her feet, meowing non-stop, not at all shy like before. She placed Jiwanching on the sofa and went to the bathroom to run a hot bath.
Shanqing jumped onto the sofa. Seeing that she was asleep and not waking up, it started licking her forehead and patting her cheek with its pink paws, meowing at her.
Jiwanching’s brow furrowed.
Cen Xia came out with a change of clothes and saw the scene. She yelled at it, “Shanqing, get down! Sister is resting. Don’t bother her!”
Shanqing heard her, pounced on her, and wrapped its front paws around her neck, refusing to get down.
Cen Xia raised her hand, wanting to spank its bottom. Shanqing squeezed its head against her cheeks, making a purring sound in its throat.
Jiwanching was vaguely awakened by its fur. She realized it was Shanqing and saw that Cen Xia was about to discipline it. She quickly put her arms around the little creature, hugging it tightly. She even glared at Cen Xia fiercely.
Cen Xia laughed in frustration. “Sister, you’re spoiling it!”
Jiwanching held it, burying her face in its neck and rubbing against it gently.
Shanqing was uncomfortable being hugged, but it was still well-behaved and didn’t struggle. It was still purring happily.
Jiwanching loved it and spoiled it like a child. Every time Cen Xia tried to discipline it, Jiwanching would get mad at her.
Cen Xia coaxed her fondly, “Okay, little silly, the water’s getting cold. Time to take a bath!”
Jiwanching turned her head to look at her, paused for a few seconds, then quickly kissed Shanqing on the forehead. She let go of it and slowly raised her arms, gesturing in the air. She narrowed her eyes and lectured Cen Xia.
—”Don’t you dare bully it in the future!”
Cen Xia pouted and said, “Okay,” in a sour tone.
Jiwanching’s face was cold as she solemnly emphasized.
—”And don’t be mean to her either!”
Cen Xia nodded helplessly. “Got it!”
Jiwanching raised her hand again. Whatever she demanded, Cen Xia agreed. In the end, she finally showed a satisfied smile, then immediately put on a cold expression again.
Her dark eyes darted around. She continued to gesture in the air.
—”What about how you were just mean to Shanqing?”
Cen Xia urged helplessly, “The water’s getting cold, Sister!”
Jiwanching frowned and raised her hand angrily, arguing with her.
—”Don’t use the cold water as an excuse. You need to give me an explanation.”
Cen Xia: “…”
She thought for a second. A smile appeared on her lips. She asked, following Jiwanching’s lead, “Then what do you think I should do, Sister?”
Jiwanching didn’t hesitate. She quickly tapped her own lips and looked at her, a faint blush spreading across her cheeks.
Cen Xia couldn’t hold back. She pounced on her, hugged her, and showered her with kisses.
Jiwanching was tickled by her. She huddled up in Cen Xia’s arms, dodging and meeting her kisses. In no time, she was drenched in sweat and completely exhausted.
Cen Xia carried her to the bathroom, added some hot water, and adjusted the temperature.
Jiwanching was submerged in the bathtub. Cen Xia rubbed some fragrant bath gel in her palms and ran her hands over her body.
Jiwanching was like a small fish, swimming between her fingers. Her sexy and beautiful eyes were alluring, eager to become her prey.
Cen Xia was completely smitten. She remembered what Dr. Yan had said.
—”You can try more rewards, such as sex…”
She couldn’t be reserved for more than half a second before she started to try.
Five minutes later, in the steam-filled bathroom, there were not only a continuous stream of “Xiaxia” but other sounds as well.
Ten minutes later, Jiwanching’s consciousness was hazy. She moved her lips.
—”Xiaxia, stop…”
Shanqing was outside, scratching at the door and meowing in a menacing way. Cen Xia had no intention of stopping.
Half an hour later, she took her out of the water, dressed her, and carried her to the room. Jiwanching was completely unconscious.
The door opened, and Jiwanching’s soft body was held up by her.
Shanqing thought she had killed her. It bit her leg and refused to let go.
Cen Xia hissed in pain and cursed, “You stupid Shanqing, let go of me! Or I’m going to spank you!”
Shanqing was determined to get revenge. It clung to her calf with its front paws, its entire body hanging in the air, with no intention of letting go.
Cen Xia couldn’t free her hands. She carried it and walked toward the bed.
Jiwanching mumbled “Xiaxia” in a daze. Her throat bobbed, and she said in a very soft voice, “Don’t… bully… Shanqing!”
