Transmigrated as the Chongxi Wife of a Critically Ill Young Lady - Chapter 42
Chapter 42
Cen Xia comforted her for a long time before Jiwanching gradually calmed down. The noodle stew on the bedside table was already completely cold.
She stared at it for a few seconds and raised her hand.
—”Xiaxia, I’m hungry.”
Cen Xia tucked her back into bed, got up, and went to heat up the noodle stew for her.
The faint working sound of the microwave filled the room. After a while, a subtle fragrance spread through the air. Jiwanching sniffed, and a sense of calm filled her heart at the familiar smell.
Cen Xia brought the bowl over and said, “Time to eat, Sister. A bowl of hot noodle stew. If you don’t like it, it’s free!”
She placed the bowl on the bedside table, took Jiwanching out from under the covers, and helped her lean against the headboard. She sat on the edge of the bed with the bowl in her hands.
Jiwanching opened her mouth eagerly.
Cen Xia scooped a spoonful, blew on it for a while, and, after checking the temperature, was ready to feed her.
She held out the spoon.
Jiwanching’s lips touched it, then she pulled away, her phoenix eyes looking at her mischievously. She gestured in the air.
—”Hot.”
Cen Xia didn’t quite get it at first. She pulled the spoon back, blew on it several times, and then licked it before offering it again. “It’s not hot anymore, Sister.”
Jiwanching’s tongue touched the soup, dabbed at it, then she moved away again, pursing her lips and gesturing.
—”It’s still hot, Xiaxia.”
This time, Cen Xia saw through her little trick. She held back her laughter and pretended to be very confused. “Is it hot? Let me try.”
She put the spoonful of warm soup into her own mouth and tasted it. “It’s not hot at all, Sister. The temperature is just right!”
Jiwanching’s black eyes flickered. She motioned for Cen Xia to come closer.
Cen Xia obeyed and leaned in.
Jiwanching reached out, tapped her lips with her fingertips, and then opened her own mouth.
Cen Xia’s heart melted. She transferred the soup from her own mouth into Jiwanching’s, like a little bird feeding its young.
Jiwanching’s tongue took the food. She gently bit Cen Xia’s soft tongue, then let go. She looked at her with satisfaction and a smile.
Cen Xia teased, “If you want to kiss me, just say so!”
Jiwanching’s cheeks were flushed. She reached out again, tapped Cen Xia’s lips, and then obediently opened her mouth, waiting for the next bite.
Cen Xia loved this side of her. She scooped up another spoonful and fed her in the same way.
Jiwanching’s throat bobbed. She swallowed quickly and then opened her mouth to wait.
Cen Xia fed her bite after bite.
The bowl of noodle stew was soon empty. Jiwanching’s stomach was full and her heart was full of happiness, as if she had been drinking honey.
In contrast, the Ji family of three was not so happy.
The public opinion online was overwhelming. Ji Teng and Shi Ranying had completely turned against each other, but they were also holding each other back, so neither could act freely. Ji Yanqing’s position as the heir was on the verge of being lost.
In the office, right after Ji Teng had left in a rage, Shi Ranying slapped Ji Yanqing’s face.
Ji Yanqing’s head buzzed. She looked up at her mother.
Her normally gentle and virtuous mother had completely turned into a shrew. She raised her hand and yelled at her own daughter, “Who the hell told you to provoke Jiwanching on your own?!”
Ji Yanqing gently touched the red side of her face. She curved her lips numbly and spoke to her mother in a nonchalant tone. “That’s right, I did. So what?”
Shi Ranying slapped her again. “You’re useless, you’re a complete waste! Just like that bastard from the Shao family!”
Ji Yanqing’s face was completely numb, but she enjoyed the burning and numbness after the intense pain.
She licked the blood that seeped from her cracked lip, laughing with the faint metallic taste. She looked at Shi Ranying and said, word for word, “A bastard born of a bastard is still a bastard. Can’t you understand that, Mom?”
Shi Ranying was about to hit her again when her assistant rushed in.
“Madam, clients are calling to complain, and people from the Tourism Bureau are here to investigate. They’re already in the elevator!”
Shi Ranying had to stop for now. She glared at Ji Yanqing. “Get out!”
Ji Yanqing hurried out with a red face.
Shi Ranying quickly composed herself, put on a fake smile, and went out to greet them. The people outside were serious and had a professional attitude.
She had to deal with them as the chairman’s wife and the de facto person in charge of the Ji family’s business.
Chairman Ji was also forced to accept all sorts of interviews. With the emergency shareholders’ meeting approaching, the entire Ji family was in a state of chaos.
Jiang He had privately messaged the Ji family’s business partners about their operational loopholes over the years. The partners were furious. Many were demanding to terminate their agreements. With the complaint lines being flooded, people from the Tourism Bureau and the Ticketing Bureau also came to investigate.
After she finished her work, she closed her laptop and lay down on the pillow.
Si Jing looked at her in surprise. “General Manager Jiang, are you… done?”
Jiang He turned her head and smiled faintly. “The rest is up to you! Have fun and I wish you a quick journey to becoming an IT hacker!”
Si Jing ignored her joke and got straight to the point. “I’ve also arranged a meeting with that old fox from Jiangzhou. He’s coming to our company at 3 PM tomorrow!”
Jiang He said, “Oh.”
Si Jing asked with concern, “Aren’t you going to prepare?”
Jiang He pointed to her head and said, “There’s nothing to prepare. Just need to use my brain! I’m going to get my beauty sleep now. You can continue!”
Si Jing went on to summarize the information that Jiang He had given her. She was shocked when she saw the Ji family’s operational status from the past few years.
Oh my God, a loss of over 2.4 billion yuan in three years, repeated misappropriation of public funds, and selling client information. The company had gone from a top player in the industry to an empty shell, facing the risk of being delisted at any time. Yet, so many small companies blindly worshiped it, like the Cen family, who were willing to sacrifice their only daughter just to form a marriage alliance with the Ji family…
…
The next day, the sun was shining and the summer breeze was gentle. Jiang He and her assistant were discharged from the hospital. At the Jiang Technology building, President Qin from Jiangzhou International had already arrived.
As Jiang He had said, he took this collaboration very seriously and brought two tech experts with him.
Jiang He, dressed in a casual suit, walked in with her laptop. She was tall and had her hair in a bun, but due to her young age, there was a hint of a childish innocence on her face.
President Qin looked at least 20 years older than her. When he saw her come in, he got up and greeted her. “General Manager Jiang!”
Jiang He’s actions were high-profile. In just a few days, her reputation had spread throughout the IT industry. Qin Songyang had heard about her, but he was still slightly taken aback when he saw her in person.
Jiang He’s clear eyes smiled. She politely and cordially said, “Please, have a seat, President Qin!”
Both parties sat down. She glanced at the two men with laptops across from her. One of them wore black-rimmed glasses, and judging by his hair, he had probably been in technology for many years. She joked, “The two of you are so quiet. I bet you’re both tech guys, right?”
The two tech guys looked up at her.
Qin Songyang was very shrewd and knew what she was implying. He immediately said, “General Manager Jiang, you have a good eye. Let me introduce you. This is our technical director, and this is our architect. I brought them today mainly to meet you first. I hope we can have a good relationship in the future!”
Jiang He waved her hand quickly. “I wouldn’t dare. When it comes to technology, the older generation has more experience. I still have a lot to learn from the two of you!”
Qin Songyang laughed and exchanged a few pleasantries. He thought that this Jiang family heir seemed a little different from what the rumors said.
Jiang He opened her laptop, connected it to the projector, and got straight to the point. “Thank you for coming today, President Qin. Due to time constraints, let’s get right to it. I didn’t prepare much. I’ll just give you a brief introduction to some of the small achievements the Jiang Corporation has made in the field of data mining over the past two years.”
As she spoke, her fingers flew over the command line. The data on the projector screen started to run, with one successful case after another quickly displaying.
The two men across from her were staring with wide eyes. Si Jing, next to them, secretly chuckled, silently mocking them. “I can’t even keep up with General Manager Jiang’s thinking, much less you two with your dumb brains!”
After speaking for less than half an hour, Jiang He stopped and smiled. “These are some of the more successful cases that the Jiang Corporation has handled. President Qin, you also brought professional technical staff today. If there’s anything you’re unclear about regarding our professional capabilities, please feel free to ask!”
Qin Songyang looked at the two men across from him. Both of them nodded, showing their approval.
Qin Songyang took a sip of his tea and said, “General Manager Jiang, that was excellent. Our Jiangzhou International is mainly focused on offline businesses. But as you know, in recent years, with the development of the internet economy, online businesses are much better than offline ones. For the past two years, we have indeed wanted to transition to a digital platform. We’ve looked at many companies, but we’ve always been hesitant. The Jiang Corporation’s strength in data mining is well known. I only have one question: why would you choose us, General Manager Jiang?”
Since the old fox had gone this far, Jiang He didn’t beat around the bush. She said directly, “Because Jiangzhou International is one of the top ten hotels in the country and one of the offline hotels that the Ji family has the most collaborations with.”
Qin Songyang was taken aback. He asked uncertainly, “Does General Manager Jiang have some sort of feud with the Ji family?”
Jiang He pursed her lips and smiled. She admitted, “Yes. So I’ll help you go online, and you can terminate your collaboration with the Ji family and go solo. We both win!”
Qin Songyang paused. “The Ji family has always been a big client for us. Are you sure I’ll give up such a big client for this collaboration, General Manager Jiang?”
Jiang He nodded. “You will. Because your ambition is not limited to that. I’ve looked into the Ji family. You don’t need me to tell you about their internal situation. President Qin, you’ve worked with them for many years, so you must be aware of it, right?”
Qin Songyang’s expression stiffened. Although the Ji family had been on a downward trend in recent years, they still had a strong foundation. To outsiders, they were still a leader in the industry. He didn’t believe that Jiang He could have been so capable as to have investigated the Ji family’s true situation.
A few minutes later, Si Jing projected the data that Jiang He had filtered into a report on the screen. Qin Songyang’s jaw dropped when he saw the Ji family’s loss of 770 million yuan in the past six months.
As soon as he stepped out of the Jiang Technology building, the phone at the Ji family’s general manager’s office rang.
Madam Ji had just sent away the heavyweights from the Tourism Bureau and the Ticketing Bureau when her assistant told her that Jiangzhou International would not be renewing its contract next month. Their offline hotels would be reclaimed, and they needed to be prepared in advance.
