Transmigrated as the Chongxi Wife of a Critically Ill Young Lady - Chapter 41
Chapter 41
In the hospital room, Assistant Si was laughing like a pig.
Jiang He said, “Take it easy. I’m working.”
Si Jing, clutching her stomach, showed Jiang He the photo of the watermelon-shaped hat.
Jiang He glanced at it and said, “Jiwanching acted decisively this time, exposing her own father. She’s a woman with guts!”
Si Jing laughed. “Otherwise, how could she be worthy of being your love rival, General Manager Jiang?”
Jiang He didn’t bicker with her. She just smiled faintly. “This gives me a chance to take down the Ji family.”
She thought for a moment, then looked at Si Jing and called her name.
Si Jing looked up.
Jiang He said, “Keep an eye on the Ji family’s financial records from the past few years, especially bribery and selling client information. Compile it all and send it privately to their shareholders and important business partners. I don’t believe they can be clean with two people of such dubious character running the Ji family.”
Si Jing laughed. “Is General Manager Jiang going to make a big move?”
Jiang He gave a perfunctory “Mhmm,” distractedly scrolling through the brilliant comments. As if she thought of something, she suddenly said, “What was the name of that client who left Jiwanching high and dry last time?”
Si Jing was momentarily confused. She thought for a moment and asked, “Are you talking about that guy named Qin from Jiangzhou International?”
Jiang He quickly tapped on her screen a few times. After finding the person’s information, she nodded repeatedly. “Ah, yes! That old fox. Go and make contact, set up a time. I want to meet him in person.”
Si Jing was shocked. She kindly reminded her, “That old geezer is very slippery. Jiwanching’s mother was a longtime business partner of his, but he still sided with Shi Ranying in the end. Are you sure you want to work with someone like that, General Manager Jiang?”
Jiang He’s lips curled up. “You just said it yourself, he’s a slippery old fox. People like him only care about business interests. They don’t care about a long-standing family friendship. Jiwanching’s mother is dead, and Zhicheng has only developed rapidly in the last two years. Plus, Jiwanching is now paralyzed. Shi Ranying offered better terms, so of course, he chose to side with her. But we’re different. Hasn’t Jiangzhou International been professing its desire to transition to a digital platform for the past two years? When it comes to strength in data mining, who can compare to my Jiang Corporation?”
Si Jing understood and nodded in agreement, acting obsequiously. “You’re brilliant, General Manager Jiang!”
Jiang He gave her a blank look. “Stop flattering me and get to work!”
Assistant Si’s face crumpled. She pouted and complained, “You’re making me check information and arrange a meeting with a client. Which one should I do first, General Manager Jiang?”
Jiang He glanced at the laptop by her bed and reached out her hand. “Give it to me!”
Si Jing asked, “What?”
Jiang He pointed to the laptop next to her.
Si Jing obediently crawled over, picked up the laptop, and presented it to her with both hands.
Jiang He took the laptop.
Si Jing hopped off her bed and landed on Jiang He’s bed with a thump.
Jiang He opened the laptop, her fingers flying over the keyboard.
Si Jing’s eyes widened as she watched the pile of information that appeared in the command line.
Jiang He continued to work.
Si Jing stared unblinkingly. After a while, she felt a little dizzy. She said, “General Manager Jiang, are you even human?”
Her typing speed and logical ability didn’t seem like they were from a human operating a computer, but rather a machine executing commands by itself.
Jiang He’s fingers paused in the command line. She reached out and gave Si Jing a hard flick on the forehead.
Si Jing cried out in pain.
Jiang He looked at her. “Is General Manager Jiang human?”
Si Jing was defiant. She rubbed her forehead and glared at her.
Jiang He’s face darkened, ready to make a big move.
Si Jing covered her ticklish spots with her hands, her head shaking like a rattle. “Yes, yes! You are amazing, General Manager Jiang!”
Jiang He said, “Now go back to your own spot. I’ll check your work before you clock out!”
Si Jing quickly jumped back to her own bed.
Jiang He’s fingers returned to the command line.
On the other side, Jiwanching wasn’t idle either. She had been looking at the Ji family’s current organizational structure and their operational status over the past two years. The emergency shareholders’ meeting was happening in the next few days, and she needed to show up. Therefore, she had to familiarize herself with the basic business operations as soon as possible.
However, over the years, the internal structure of the Ji family’s business had changed a lot. Most of the old employees had been replaced by Shi Ranying, except for a few she couldn’t move. Some had also voluntarily resigned, leaving behind a bunch of useless people who couldn’t get things done. This had led to a declining trend in the company’s capital utilization and a decrease in its ability to operate sustainably. In addition, customer complaints had been rising sharply in the past two years. If things continued like this, the Ji family’s business would soon fall out of the top ten in the industry.
Jiwanching had been sitting for too long and couldn’t take it anymore. She massaged her temples and closed her eyes to rest.
Cen Xia came in with a bowl of noodle stew and saw that her face was pale and her temples were covered in a fine layer of sweat. She frowned and walked toward the bed. “Sister, you promised me you would lie down after a while, didn’t you?”
Jiwanching heard her voice and opened her eyes, a smile on her face as she looked at her.
Cen Xia put the noodle stew on the bedside table and reached out to hold her in her arms.
Jiwanching was afraid she was angry. She wrapped her arms around Cen Xia’s waist and buried her head in her arms, rubbing her face against her chest, just like a little kitten trying to please its owner after making a mistake.
Cen Xia let out a low hum. “What’s the point of acting cute when you don’t listen, Sister?”
But the corners of her mouth had already turned into a small smile.
Jiwanching continued to nuzzle her. She gulped for a long time, and finally, two words came out: “I… was wrong!”
Cen Xia was overjoyed to hear her speak. She quickly turned her body to face her, her eyes sparkling.
Jiwanching’s eyelids blinked, her beautiful phoenix eyes full of innocence. She was very good at acting pitiful.
But Cen Xia’s mind wasn’t on that at all. She looked into her eyes and asked excitedly, “What did you just say, Sister? Say it again, okay?”
Jiwanching pursed her lips and said nothing.
Cen Xia pleaded, “Sister?”
She reached out and pointed to her own lips.
Cen Xia lowered her head, gave her a peck, and then quickly looked up with anticipation.
Jiwanching shook her head and pointed to her lips again.
Cen Xia lowered her head and gave her another kiss. When Jiwanching did it again, Cen Xia repeated the action three or four times, her eyes on Jiwanching.
She took her hand and put it on her throat, gulped, and smiled with narrowed eyes. Then she slowly raised her hand.
—”I can’t say it anymore, Xiaxia!”
Cen Xia realized she had been tricked and puffed up her cheeks like a little pufferfish. She glared at her for a few seconds, then leaned in and kissed her forcefully on the lips.
Jiwanching met her kiss for a while, but then she had no strength. The other person continued to plunder her lips. She felt like she was suffocating from the kiss. She endured with difficulty, and tears flowed from the corners of her lips and eyes.
Cen Xia’s exploration was greedy, and her hands also started to become restless.
At her touch, Jiwanching’s body recoiled again and again. Cen Xia treated her with all the gentleness in her life…
When it was over, Jiwanching’s body was completely soft. She lay there languidly, her eyes filled with tenderness, feeling like she was about to melt into a puddle of water.
After all that, the noodle stew was cold. Cen Xia simply carried her to the bathroom to take a bath.
When she was in the water, Jiwanching finally caught her breath. Her narrow phoenix eyes were half-closed, captivating and bewitching. Cen Xia didn’t dare to make another move, afraid her body couldn’t handle it.
She took her out of the water and was about to wrap her in a towel, but those watery eyes were still so alluring. Cen Xia really couldn’t resist. After carrying her back to the room, she went back in and took a cold shower.
Jiwanching lay on the bed, smiling. She fell asleep before Cen Xia came out.
Cen Xia changed into her clothes and didn’t wake her up. She quietly climbed into bed and lay down beside her.
Jiwanching stirred in her sleep, rolled over, and snuggled into her arms. She wrapped her arm around her waist and squeezed her head into Cen Xia’s soft chest until her nose was buried. She smacked her lips and fell into a deep sleep.
Cen Xia’s body was stiff. Her chest felt stuffy from Jiwanching’s breathing. She endured with difficulty, reciting the Heart Purity Mantra several times before she managed to calm herself down.
Jiwanching’s sleeping face was adorable. She would occasionally purse her lips and smile, looking very cute.
Cen Xia reached out and held her in her arms.
She wished this could last forever, but she knew Jiwanching had a tough battle ahead. Her body was too weak. She didn’t know if she could handle it, and she didn’t know when the system would reappear. She couldn’t use her special abilities now. If Jiwanching was in danger, how could she protect her? But if the system appeared, there would be an explanation for the original owner’s whereabouts, and then what if…
As Cen Xia was deep in thought, Jiwanching suddenly flinched in her arms, then started sobbing uncontrollably.
Cen Xia jumped up and called her name over and over again.
But Jiwanching was trapped in her dream. She dreamed of her mother struggling in the water, of her body bloated from the water after her death, and of Ji Teng’s ferocious face…
Cen Xia was terrified. Her mind went blank. She remembered the method Yan Shuang had taught her before. She shouted, “Jiwanching, wake up! Jiwanching, Cen Xia is in danger, wake up quickly!”
Sure enough, the person in her arms suddenly opened her eyes. She stared blankly at the ceiling for more than ten seconds before she slowly regained some consciousness.
Tears rolled down her cheeks.
Cen Xia forcefully put her face in Jiwanching’s line of sight and comforted her repeatedly. “It’s okay, Sister. I’m Xiaxia, it’s okay!”
It took a long time for Jiwanching to make out her face. She slowly raised her hand.
—”Xiaxia, I dreamed of Mom. She was struggling in the water, and no one was saving her.”
Cen Xia lowered her head, kissing her from her brow to her chin, drying the tears on her face.
She said, “Don’t be scared, Sister. Auntie missed you and came to you in your dream. She just came back to see you because she missed you!”
Tears welled up in Jiwanching’s eyes again. She sobbed, gesturing over and over.
—”Mom missed me. She never appeared in my dreams for all these years. This time, she finally came to see me. She doesn’t blame me anymore. She doesn’t blame me anymore, Xiaxia…”
Cen Xia couldn’t help but cry. She choked up as she said, “Auntie never blamed you, Sister. She didn’t appear because she was afraid you would miss her. You have to get better quickly and live a good life with me, so she can rest assured!”
Jiwanching’s heart was aflutter. She struggled to understand her words and slowly gestured in the air.
—”I must get better quickly and win back everything for Mom. I have to protect Xiaxia…”
