Transmigrated as the Chongxi Wife of a Critically Ill Young Lady - Chapter 37
Chapter 37
Enraged, Ji Yanqing stormed out of the hospital room. General Manager Jiang and Assistant Si looked at each other, their faces filled with amusement.
Jiang He couldn’t help but sigh, “Jiwanching’s an unfortunate woman to be fancied by such a terrible person.”
Si Jing said, “Terrible? I just think she’s stupid.”
Jiang He shook her head and said no more.
Si Jing nudged her with her elbow. “How did you know she likes Jiwanching, General Manager Jiang?”
Jiang He’s eyes darkened. When it came to anything involving Cen Xia, every single detail required her to be a hundred times more observant.
Si Jing didn’t press further. She tossed a few poker cards onto the bed. “Let’s keep gambling, General Manager Jiang. Today, I’m betting my Maybach. All you have to do is beat me!”
Jiang He threw down her cards and laughed. “With your intelligence, isn’t beating you more than enough?”
Si Jing’s four eyes widened as she peered at the flush Jiang He had just thrown down.
Jiang He said, “Delete all online information about me and Cen Xia. Don’t leave any traces. Don’t rush Jiwanching’s side of things yet. She’s a good person. I feel more at ease with Cen Xia in her care. You should assign more people to protect her. I need to focus on dealing with that old woman from the Ji family.”
Si Jing rolled her eyes and said, a little resentfully, “You say I’m giving your love rival a free pass, but it seems you’ve been helping her a lot, too!”
Jiang He didn’t say anything. She tossed all her cards out. She didn’t want to do this, but when it came to Cen Xia, she couldn’t allow her to be in any danger.
…
Cen Xia leaned against the headboard, earnestly scrolling through the files Tang Shaoyun had sent her on her laptop.
Jiwanching lay beside her, one hand resting on her waist, her nose buried in Cen Xia’s side, sniffing.
The information on Jiang He and the original Cen Xia was scattered. Cen Xia found the only picture they had together. She tilted the laptop. “Sister, look!”
Jiwanching turned her head.
The photo was taken in a barbecue restaurant, probably during a class reunion. Everyone was in school uniforms. The original Cen Xia stood with her classmates, and Jiang He stood with Si Jing. Their gazes, however, were fixed on each other, their eyes filled with tender love.
At that time, Jiang He hadn’t gone abroad yet. The two of them were probably only twelve or thirteen years old. In this youthful snapshot, the photo captured a sense of holding hands for life. For a moment, Jiwanching felt a pang of envy.
She glanced at Cen Xia beside her. Fortunately, the person beside her was hers.
Cen Xia said, “This photo makes me feel like they were already in love in their previous life. But there are so few traces of them being together!”
Jiwanching lowered her eyes, thinking for a moment.
—”Maybe they were protecting each other.”
Cen Xia agreed. “After all, at that age, even if they skipped grades, they were only in middle school, and middle school doesn’t allow dating!”
Jiwanching raised her hand.
—”The photo looks like a joint class dinner.”
Cen Xia looked closely and saw they had different class emblems on their uniforms. Below that, there were no more traces of them being together.
Cen Xia said, “Sister, it’s so strange. Why did General Manager Jiang seem to disappear after that?”
Jiwanching mentally organized the timeline and raised her hand to explain.
—”She went abroad at age 14 to be trained as Jiang family’s heir.”
Cen Xia immediately went to the original owner’s social media accounts. “I found it, Sister. They’ve been in contact via email the whole time.”
Jiwanching struggled to sit up to see. Cen Xia put an arm around her waist and let her lean on her shoulder. They both carefully read the content of every email.
The messages were ordinary, not overly ambiguous. They occasionally said a few sweet and heartwarming words, but their conversations were all about each other. They had kept this up for ten years.
Ten years. How many ten-year periods are there in a lifetime? The original Cen Xia and Jiang He had a long-distance relationship for ten years, but their love didn’t fade in the slightest due to the distance.
Cen Xia rested her chin on Jiwanching’s forehead and said, “Sister, their love is so beautiful!”
Tears welled up in Jiwanching’s eyes. To a certain extent, she was an extremely emotional person. She was moved by their love.
Cen Xia sighed unintentionally, “I wonder if her Xiaxia is still in this world.”
Jiwanching looked up at her, unsure of what she meant.
Cen Xia kissed her lips. “Let’s help General Manager Jiang find her. They love each other so much; she must still be alive!”
Jiwanching reached out to hug her, burying her face deep in Cen Xia’s embrace. After a while, she got her emotions under control.
She moved her long fingers to the email conversation list and scrolled all the way down to the latest message. The date was the night before Cen Xia’s wedding. She clicked on the email.
Cen Xia held her in her arms and leaned in to look.
On the email interface, there were only two short messages.
—”Jiang Jiang, I’m so sleepy. I want to have a good long sleep. [Cute sleepy cat emoji]”
—”You little lazy pig. The sun hasn’t even set over here. [Emo cat emoji]”
Cen Xia’s arms around Jiwanching tightened. She remembered that voice from before. A very bad guess suddenly entered her mind: Perhaps, perhaps she was no longer alive…
Jiwanching felt her movements. She stirred and raised her hand to gesture in the air.
—”Did you find something?”
Cen Xia suppressed the sudden panic and asked Jiwanching, “Sister, do you know if there were any rumors about the Cen family’s daughter running away or resisting the marriage before the wedding?”
Jiwanching shook her head.
—”I don’t know, Xiaxia. I was in a very bad state during that time.”
Cen Xia felt a pang of heartache for her. She put down the laptop, scooped her into her arms, and kissed her on the forehead. “Let’s not think about it, Sister. When you’re feeling better, we’ll go see General Manager Jiang and try to clear things up.”
Jiwanching blinked, showing her agreement.
Cen Xia smiled, her voice soft and gentle. “We also have our own little life to live, don’t we?”
After saying this, she reached out and touched Jiwanching’s lips.
Her fingertips were warm and the soft touch on her lips felt very comfortable. Jiwanching opened her mouth and bit her finger.
Cen Xia’s heart skipped a beat.
Jiwanching bit her finger and carefully licked it with her tongue.
Cen Xia felt a gentle wetness.
Jiwanching bit her again, a little more forcefully this time.
Cen Xia’s finger bones tingled.
Jiwanching released her finger and looked her in the eye. She had just raised her hand, intending to say something.
Cen Xia leaned in, her soft lips pressing against hers. Thinking of the original owner and Jiang He, this kiss was more passionate than the previous ones.
Jiwanching gave her all to meet her movements.
At this moment, she felt like she was the happiest person in the world. Even though she was once tormented to the point of wanting to die, even though she was a beast in a cage, even when she was on the verge of death and being toyed with, even when the Ji family used all their tricks to force her into a “luck-bringing marriage,” now, because the person by her side was Cen Xia, she felt incredibly lucky. She even felt grateful to them…
When the kiss ended, both girls had tears streaming down their faces. But when they looked at each other, they both smiled.
Sunlight filtered through the leaves and lazily lay on the floor. Cicadas on the trees chirped loudly, their calls singing of summer.
Cen Xia wiped the tears from Jiwanching’s cheeks. “Sister, do you want to go downstairs and sunbathe?”
Jiwanching pursed her lips and happily nodded. She hadn’t left the bed since she returned. Her bones felt stiff. She really wanted to go out for a stroll, to see the sky, the clouds, the flowers, and the trees.
Cen Xia closed the laptop and was about to put her on the bed.
Jiwanching raised her hand, looking at her with eager eyes.
—”Xiaxia, I want to take a bath.”
Cen Xia calculated the time. It had been a few days since her last needle treatment, but she still wasn’t sure if her body was suitable for soaking in water. After messaging Yan Shuang and getting his permission, she carried her to the bathroom.
She had seen her body before, but never as clearly as she did now.
Although Jiwanching was as thin as a skeleton, she had all the right curves. Her sharp collarbones, her full chest, her skin like jade, her waist. Below the waist, it was all legs, long and straight, faintly floating in the water, very alluring.
Cen Xia couldn’t resist her fingers wandering over her body.
Jiwanching’s skin shivered, and she let out a very soft, suppressed moan.
Cen Xia held back again and again. In the end, with a heated body, she dried her off but didn’t dare to make a move on her.
She dressed her and carried her to the sofa to lie down. She then quickly rushed back to the bathroom and took a five-minute cold shower. When she came out, Jiwanching’s eyes were shining brightly, fixed on the bathroom door.
Cen Xia smiled awkwardly. “It was too hot, Sister!”
Jiwanching suddenly remembered a time when she fainted. When she woke up, her clothes had been changed, and the person who changed them was standing in front of the refrigerator drinking water, telling her it was too hot and she was thirsty.
At this moment, she looked at the awkward and embarrassed girl standing in front of her and only just realized what she meant by “too hot.”
Thinking about this, she smiled slightly. So, her Xiaxia was also sensitive and had a reaction when she was with her. She loved her, and she loved her even with this broken body.
They went downstairs to sunbathe. Cen Xia pushed Jiwanching in the elevator. As they walked down the hallway, some servants bowed and nodded to them. Among them were some of Madam Ji’s people and Ji Yanqing’s people. There had been a lot going on recently, and Jiwanching hadn’t had time to clean house.
Cen Xia couldn’t help but remember when she first came into the house. These people would openly criticize Jiwanching and act one way in front of her and another behind her back. After the incident with Steward Song, they had all quieted down.
They didn’t go far, just to the shade of a tree in the yard. Jiwanching’s mood was visibly good. Cen Xia stood beside her, fanning mosquitoes away and using a light shawl to protect her legs.
Jiwanching was a little unhappy. She wanted to be bitten by mosquitoes so that Cen Xia would touch her little legs and tell her, “It won’t itch if I rub it.”
Cen Xia didn’t guess her thoughts. She thought Jiwanching was refusing the shawl because she thought it was ugly. She patiently coaxed her, “Little fairies all wear light shawls. Come on, I’ll take a picture of you, Sister!”
Jiwanching’s posture immediately became proper when she heard “take a picture.” After all, she had been a singer with all sorts of cameras on her, so she was very good at choosing angles. At this moment, facing Cen Xia’s rear camera, the aura of a queen of pop seemed to fully emerge.
Cen Xia took several photos from different angles: cold, elegant, sweet. Every single one was a masterpiece. She ran over and squatted beside Jiwanching, turned the camera to the front, and pressed half of her face against Jiwanching’s. She took several more pictures.
She swiped into the album to show Jiwanching. “Sister, look at our happy photos! Don’t I have a talent for photography?”
Jiwanching chose the one where Cen Xia’s smile was the cutest. She opened the photo editing app and typed a line of text on the photo: “Cen Xia is Jiwanching’s.”
After editing and saving it, she showed it to Cen Xia.
Cen Xia took the phone, chose a photo where Jiwanching’s smile was the sweetest, and, using the same font, typed a line of text: “Jiwanching is Cen Xia’s.”
She saved the photo, handed the phone back to Jiwanching, and said, “A couple photo. Now Sister can use it to show off to Dr. Yan!”
Jiwanching scrolled through the two photos and shook her head.
—”I won’t show it to him. It’s no fun!”
She thought for half a second. She quickly transferred the photos to her own phone, handed the other phone back to Cen Xia, and fiddled with the two photos she had just edited.
Cen Xia was seriously scrolling through the album. Every angle of Jiwanching seemed so beautiful to her. She was so beautiful it was intoxicating, and she wanted to kiss the photos.
After a while, Jiwanching tugged on her sleeve, gesturing for her to look at her phone.
Cen Xia followed her instructions and clicked on the app. The latest post was two photos uploaded by the “ethereal queen,” with a short caption of just three words: “Showing off love.”
