Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Boss of the Disabled Heroine - Chapter 12
Pei Yujiang waited for a few minutes. Just as her nerves began to relax, she heard intermittent footsteps approaching hesitant, as if the person was uncertain.
Her instincts immediately screamed danger.
Holding her breath, she concealed herself in the shadows and peered through the blind spot of the hallway. A tall, long-legged woman stepped out of the elevator. Upon closer inspection, it was Liu Huanran.
What was Liu Huanran doing here?
The confusion lasted only a moment before realization struck it couldn’t be anything good. The third floor of this club wasn’t for lodging but for more intimate activities. If Liu Huanran had rushed here in such a hurry, there had to be something shady going on.
She recalled the system’s earlier warning that Yu Zhiwan had already been drugged, so she no longer needed to carry out the original mission. But who had drugged Yu Zhiwan?
Pei Yujiang had initially suspected her subordinate, but in the original plot, that person had always shown her respect at least before her downfall and wouldn’t normally defy orders.
The sight of Liu Huanran sparked a sudden suspicion in Pei Yujiang’s mind, shifting her focus entirely.
Liu Huanran seemed to be searching for something urgently, moving stealthily without making a sound. The soundproofing of the rooms was excellent, making it impossible to hear anything from inside or outside. Watching her furtive behavior, Pei Yujiang frowned, debating whether to step out and intervene when suddenly, a door swung open.
Yu Zhiwan sat in her wheelchair, arms resting on the armrests as she rolled forward with an air of calm composure, showing no trace of her earlier distress.
The Omega had returned to her usual state. Under the soft hallway lighting, her skin glowed with a warm, jade-like luster. Aside from the faint sheen on her lips evidence that she had recently washed her face, there was no trace left of the red-eyed, fragile Omega from before.
Spotting her, Liu Huanran’s eyes lit up, and she hurried over in quick strides.
“Wanwan, what are you doing here?”
When Yu Zhiwan didn’t respond immediately, Liu Huanran eagerly stepped forward to push her wheelchair, chiding affectionately:
“You had me searching everywhere. An Omega coming to a place like this, what if someone targeted you? Hmm?”
She sighed, her expression a mix of exasperation and indulgence, and reached out to pinch Yu Zhiwan’s cheek. But before her fingers could make contact, Yu Zhiwan relying on a blind person’s sharp instincts dodged the touch, clearly unwilling to accept Liu Huanran’s advances.
Perhaps emboldened by the empty hallway or a few too many drinks, Liu Huanran ignored Yu Zhiwan’s reluctance, grabbing her chin and giving it a playful squeeze, even stroking it twice with familiarity.
Yu Zhiwan’s expression darkened. The moment Liu Huanran’s hand lingered near her jaw, she raised her own hand without hesitation and slapped Liu Huanran’s wrist hard.
“Ah!!” Liu Huanran hissed in pain, immediately yanking her hand back.
From her hidden corner, Pei Yujiang couldn’t see the full scene. Hearing the sharp sound, she assumed Liu Huanran had been rough with Yu Zhiwan. A surge of fury ignited in her chest. Ignoring the system’s protests, she shoved open the stairwell door and stepped out.
As the official male lead, Liu Huanran’s performance so far has been utterly disappointing, failing to meet any expectations. Impatient, lustful, and forcing himself on Omegas without regard for their consent each of these traits alone was enough to breed disgust. How could Yu Zhiwan, a delicate and fragile Omega, possibly stand up to an Alpha?
“Little CEO Pei?”
Hearing the commotion, Liu Huanran instinctively looked up, locking eyes with Pei Yujiang. Sensing hostility, she reflexively shielded Yu Zhiwan behind her.
For Liu Huanran, even though she and Yu Zhiwan had no real relationship, having transmigrated into this Alpha role and knowing Yu Zhiwan was destined to become her future wife in the plot, she still felt a sense of responsibility.
Despite Yu Zhiwan’s current coldness toward her, Liu Huanran had already decided in her heart that this was her wife, which sometimes led to impulsive actions. Now, standing protectively in front of Yu Zhiwan, facing the novel’s early-stage villain who had thoroughly suppressed her, Liu Huanran felt her nerves fray. Sweat beaded faintly at her temples.
But to Pei Yujiang, this gesture was nothing short of outright provocation.
Pei Yujiang took a step forward.
Though she had transmigrated into a Beta body, her height remained unchanged tall and upright, still a few centimeters taller than Liu Huanran. The difference wasn’t vast, but as the distance closed, those few centimeters magnified the disparity.
Pei Yujiang’s cold gaze lingered on her for a moment. She didn’t utter any overt threats, yet her presence was sharp as a blade, pressing down with an unspoken, suffocating weight.
Under that stare, Liu Huanran didn’t just think about how easily this woman could make her work life miserable, she felt an irrational premonition that she might not survive this encounter.
Once fear took root, it was hard to shake. A chill crept up her spine, and Liu Huanran wavered. Though she stood on plush carpet, it felt like ice. She hadn’t drunk much tonight, yet her head spun as if intoxicated.
After a brief standoff, Liu Huanran shamefully turned tail and fled, completely missing the mocking look in Pei Yujiang’s eyes and forgetting all about her earlier heroic resolve to protect the Omega.
Pei Yujiang’s lips twitched, but no warmth reached her eyes.
She wasn’t the original villain and had her own moral boundaries, so she wouldn’t lay a hand on Yu Zhiwan. But abandoning an Omega in such a place without a second thought, even cowering in fear at the mere prospect of confronting a superior, what kind of Alpha was this? Pei Yujiang couldn’t fathom how someone like Liu Huanran could ever become the “official male lead” who turned things around.
Thinking of the original plot’s miserable developments, Pei Yujiang couldn’t help but pity Yu Zhiwan. But now, she had to follow the script, she couldn’t let her character collapse beyond repair or raise suspicions.
“How pitiful. Looks like your Alpha just abandoned you, huh?”
She deliberately shifted her tone, lacing it with sarcasm as she stepped closer. Her exhale, deliberate and slow, stirred the air between them, designed to unsettle the Omega further.
Yu Zhiwan’s breathing grew heavier, her slender hands gripping the wheelchair arms trembling visibly, betraying her inner unease. Pei Yujiang forced a cold laugh, dragging her nails slowly down the omega’s back through the fabric, deliberately prolonging the motion until the system notified her of rising cannon fodder points. Only then did she exhale in relief.
This was the first time since birth Pei Yujiang had played such a villainous role. As she leaned closer, the omega’s faint orchid-musk scent wafted over though ineffective on her beta physiology, the invasive intimacy left her wanting to cry.
Mission accomplished, Pei Yujiang tossed a tissue onto Yu Zhiwan’s lap as a final insult. Watching the omega bite her quivering lips in fright, she nearly bolted from the venue.
Yet within a minute, she returned.
She had to ensure no one actually harmed Yu Zhiwan.

The party dragged on interminably. Pei Yujiang kept vigilant watch her first such sinister assignment leaving her exhausted. By homecoming, her aching body collapsed onto the bed, refusing to move until her burner phone chimed.
The message sender: Yu Zhiwan.
Written in braille, it was brief: “Can we talk?” Pei Yujiang marveled her undercover persona must have been convincing indeed for the heroine to confide in her after mere encounters.
To accommodate Yu Zhiwan, Pei Yujiang replied via voice message.
Instead, an incoming call connected.
The omega’s fragile, wounded voice dissolved Pei Yujiang’s fatigue instantly. Flustered, she hurried to the balcony, clearing her throat to modulate her tone naturally:
“Of course. What’s on your mind?”
