Transmigrated As A Beautiful Cannon Fodder Omega To Marry An Evil God Alpha In Place of Another - Chapter 24.1
The mere mention of those things as food was incredibly uncomfortable.
Bai Rui spoke with difficulty, but A-Wu didn’t put the bowl down. Instead, he tilted his head. “Does Your Highness want them or not?”
The fragrant porridge was right there. Bai Rui couldn’t help but swallow.
A-Wu’s long fingers gripped the silver spoon, lightly stirring the porcelain bowl. The spoon hit the rim with a crisp, pleasant ding.
Then, as if on purpose, he scooped up a spoonful and held it over the bowl. He lowered his eyes, the white steam misting his long lashes.
After a moment of silence, A-Wu brought the silver spoon to Bai Rui’s lips and smiled. “Rest assured, there is nothing in here but rice and filtered water. Eat with peace of mind.”
The fragrant spoonful was at his lips. Bai Rui’s pale lips twitched for a second before he cooperatively opened his mouth.
He took the spoon. Since he hadn’t eaten for a long time, he ate a bit too quickly and burned his tongue.
His lips stung. Bai Rui couldn’t help but hiss and squint his eyes.
His previously pale lips were now a flushed, watery red from the heat of the porridge. Because of the sting, his eyes involuntarily welled with tears.
“Did you get burned, Your Highness?”
A-Wu set the bowl down. Before Bai Rui could react, A-Wu pinched his chin and lifted his face.
Those narrow eyes fixed on Bai Rui’s reddened lips. The glistening red lips looked soft, as if they naturally held a hint of sweetness.
The gaze in the narrow eyes darkened slightly. Then, A-Wu’s fingers tightened on Bai Rui’s chin, forcing his mouth open.
“This won’t do. I need to check.”
As A-Wu spoke, his long finger reached into Bai Rui’s mouth.
He poked around, moving the tongue, it felt like a medical exam, but who checks a mouth like this?
Bai Rui was forced to tilt his head back. Having his mouth invaded felt awful. He frowned and tried to protest, but A-Wu didn’t let go. “Your Highness, I need to check. Don’t move.”
After his cool finger had explored everywhere, he withdrew it, but not before rubbing and pinching those naturally red lips a few times. “It’s fine, Your Highness. Don’t worry, there are no burns.”
Bai Rui took two deep breaths, clutching his chest and frowning as he glared at the tall A-Wu. But with tears still in his eyes, the glare lacked any real threat, instead, the redness around his eyes made them look even more soulful.
A-Wu smiled, pulled out a handkerchief, and gently wiped the corner of Bai Rui’s mouth, acting completely unbothered. It was a calm demeanor.
This made it feel as though if Bai Rui made a fuss, he would be the one being oversensitive.
Bai Rui frowned, watching A-Wu finish wiping his mouth and then move to wipe his own fingers with slow, deliberate movements. Finally, A-Wu tucked the handkerchief, now damp with Bai Rui’s saliva away. He smiled and picked up the porridge bowl again, continuing to stir and blow on it as if he were truly worried about Bai Rui getting burned again.
Maybe I really shouldn’t overthink it…
Bai Rui watched another spoonful of porridge, now blown cool, being offered to him.
After a moment’s hesitation, he opened his mouth and took another bite.
The warm porridge traveled from his mouth down to his esophagus and finally into his empty stomach. That burning sensation finally subsided, and his stomach relaxed.
Eating when starving is the most wonderful feeling in life.
In that instant, Bai Rui forgave everything and forgot the shame of the “oral exam.” His almond-shaped eyes couldn’t hide a flicker of light as he ate.
A-Wu’s narrow, glassy eyes caught that look and squinted involuntarily.
Having been hungry for two days, the food felt amazing. But even so, he couldn’t just let someone feed him like this.
“I can do it myself.”
Bai Rui reached out to take the bowl, but A-Wu held it high and moved his arm away, dodging him. If Bai Rui reached any further, he would end up pressing into A-Wu’s chest.
That would be no different from throwing himself into A-Wu’s arms. He didn’t want to seem too eager, so he withdrew his hand and uncontrollably pursed his lips again.
His lips had regained some color, hard to say if it was from the hot porridge or from A-Wu’s rubbing earlier…
A-Wu smiled. “It’s better if I serve Your Highness.”
Bai Rui took a deep breath and decided to cooperate. Since he wanted to feed him, let him. He might as well enjoy the service.
Spoonful after spoonful was blown cool and delivered to Bai Rui’s lips. Bai Rui sat quietly and ate it all.
The room was very still.
After finishing more than half the bowl, Bai Rui was mostly full, so he became more leisurely, his chewing and swallowing slowing down.
He paused and asked, “What… what exactly happened that day?”
He had been unconscious afterward and didn’t know the details. But A-Wu should have been awake.
A-Wu fed Bai Rui another spoonful. Keeping his long lashes lowered as he watched Bai Rui, he spoke: “Actually, not much happened. I don’t know what those broken potions were, but I fainted after smelling them too. When I woke up, I found that ‘Snake Tongue’ was dead, so I found a way to carry you up.”
“Is that so…”
Though it sounded suspiciously smooth, there was no reason to doubt it now. Bai Rui kept his eyes down and took a small sip of porridge, chewing slowly.
“Mmh. Everything is thanks to Your Highness. Otherwise, that fierce captain might have done something bad to us.”
He wasn’t wrong. As someone playing the role of a servant, A-Wu was very “diligent.” Everything, including solving the pirate crisis, was handled by Bai Rui.
If Jayne hadn’t pulled that dirty trick at the end, causing the catalyst ampoule to shatter and cut Bai Rui, triggering a series of reactions, everything would have been resolved perfectly.
Hearing A-Wu’s words, Bai Rui’s chewing slowed even further. He thought about how before he fell, Captain Jayne was already in bad shape, though not dead yet. Over the last few days, he likely couldn’t hold on and finally passed away.
A-Wu blew on another spoonful and held it to Bai Rui’s lips, waiting patiently.
“Your Highness, I’m curious. How exactly did you kill Captain Jayne’s physical body? He claimed to be invulnerable and immune to witchcraft and magic.”
“We were searched before coming aboard. There shouldn’t have been a chance to bring anything, except your pocket watch.”
Bai Rui thought of the watch. He reached into his trouser pocket and felt the cold metal, only then did he truly relax.
“I used the tiger whiskers from the ship.”
“Ah!”
A-Wu let out a soft exclamation as if remembering something. He looked at Bai Rui. “So you used the whiskers from the tiger skin hanging on the wall… how did you do it?”
Bai Rui finally opened his mouth and swallowed the porridge that had been sitting at his lips.
After a moment, he spoke slowly: “I don’t know witchcraft. He simply ‘accidentally consumed’ chopped tiger whiskers. He died of simple gastrointestinal bleeding.”
The tiger whiskers had been chopped into tiny fragments and mixed into the food as “Eastern spices.” They were sharp, became transparent after cooking, and were indigestible. Jayne ate quickly and greedily, so they shredded his digestive tract, causing severe internal bleeding.
Finally, a burst of laughter rang out.
“Hahaha”
A-Wu laughed so hard he doubled over. “So that’s it! No wonder you told me to only eat the dessert.”
He straightened up, his eyes filled with an undeniable, surging interest. “Your Highness, you truly surprise me.”
“Good Highness, have some more,” A-Wu said, stirring the porridge again. He scooped some up, blew on it heartfully, and brought it to Bai Rui’s mouth. “You are too thin. You should eat more. I noticed that when I gave you a bath.”
Bai Rui snapped his head up. “You gave me a bath?”
