- Too Late to Regret, She’s Now With the Big Boss
- Chapter 4 - Getting the Marriage Certificate
“You won’t let me down? Remember what you said today.” Lu Jingchen’s voice carried a faint tremor.
Lines of bullet comments drifted across the screen like snowflakes.
[Is the big boss dropping the act? His persona’s crumbling, I’m worried if the plot can still deliver the satisfaction.]
[I’m just here for the eye candy! As long as I get to see the big boss’s abs and that V-line, it’s satisfying enough for me.]
[The big boss outshines the male lead in every way and loves the female antagonist so much. The current direction is plenty satisfying for me.]
[This plot twist feels a bit abrupt. I’ve got my wine and sunflower seeds ready, let’s see the living king of hell and female antagonist put on a show.]
[Stop dragging it out, big boss. Hurry up and take the female antagonist to get the marriage certificate, then crash the male lead’s wedding and humiliate him.]
Lu Jingchen picked out a white long-sleeved gown for Ye Qianqian, soft, smooth, and perfectly tailored. The dress reached her ankles, elegant without being cumbersome, hugging her curves flawlessly.
The bullet comments claimed Lu Jingchen had a crush on her, and judging by how well the clothes fit, they weren’t lying.
She paired it with a sky-blue silk scarf, which not only concealed the marks on her neck but also added a touch of effortless charm to her look.
Lu Jingchen’s breath hitched slightly when Ye Qianqian smiled and asked, “Third Master, does this look good?”
Though his heart raced at the sight, he feigned indifference. “It’s whatever. Just like this.”
He never dared to dream she’d marry him, but life was full of unpredictable twists.
So happy. So excited!
Afraid she might stumble, Lu Jingchen scooped her up and carried her into the elevator, all the way down to the underground parking lot.
Only after gently settling her into the car did he cautiously suggest, “Your fiancé and your stepsister’s wedding has just started. There’s still time to crash it.”
“Since they’re already holding the ceremony, let’s get our marriage certificate first, then go congratulate them,” Ye Qianqian replied decisively.
Her lashes fluttered as a sharp, relentless pain surged in her chest.
She may not have loved him deeply, but she had chased after him for eight years, Song Yuntao, the eldest grandson of the Song family, the man she had almost married.
“Bai Lang, to the civil affairs bureau,” Lu Jingchen said, his voice low and steady, though Bai Lang could hear the excitement beneath it.
“Right away, Third Master.” Bai Lang’s voice was eager. Had his boss and Miss Ye already achieved the impossible without even trying?
Pfft!
Who said they hadn’t tried? The Third Master had been working on it alone, well, more like pining in secret!
Lu Jingchen shot Bai Lang a warning glance before closing his eyes to rest. What he was really thinking, no one could guess.
Seeing the living king of hell beside her with his eyes shut, Ye Qianqian took her first bold opportunity to study him.
Dressed in a custom-tailored black suit, he seemed to blend into the dark leather seat. His black shirt was buttoned to the top, meticulously proper, and his hair was neatly styled without a strand out of place.
He looked like the ruler of this world, with everything under his control.
His posture was elegant, but the tense grip of his hands on his knees betrayed his unease.
This surprised Ye Qianqian, and she couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly. The living king of hell is nervous?
In truth, Lu Jingchen isn’t just nervous, he is terrified. Terrified this might all be a dream.
Last night, he had taken her despite her resistance, fully aware of how she had wept and pleaded beneath him.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t control himself, it was because she had been sent to him by the man she deeply loved. Why should he let her go?
But he truly hadn’t expected it to be her first time.
It was said that she had shared a bed with Song Yuntao for the three years she cared for him, and Song had already recovered for over half a year.
His earlier remark about helping her crash the wedding had only been a test. She was already his woman, how could he possibly let her go?
He was just that kind of despicable person.
Since childhood, his father had taught him that anything he desired must be obtained.
Even if it meant resorting to unscrupulous means, there was no reason to let go. His mother, after all, had been forcibly taken by his father in the same way.
Yet, he had been remarkably tolerant toward Ye Qianqian, allowing her to chase after another man for years.
This time, it was that fool who had discarded her and sent her away. Besides, she was the one who had first suggested registering their marriage.
From now on, she would have to stay by his side for the rest of her life.
The driver focused on the road, while Bai Lang, sitting in the passenger seat, occasionally stole glances at the two in the back. Tsk, tsk, tsk… what a perfect match!
The world praised the eldest son of the Song family as a genius, but Bai Lang couldn’t say for sure whether he was truly clever.
What he did know was that after receiving Ye Qianqian’s kindness, Song had cast her aside to marry someone else and even kicked her while she was down.
Such a man, no matter how clever, would eventually fall victim to his own cunning.
As for the fake heiress of the Ye family, petty, narrow-minded, and scheming, though beautiful, her character was far from honorable.
Bai Lang silently judged Ye Qianqian’s ex-fiancé and her adoptive sister, Ye Qingyan, in his heart.
As for Ye Qianqian’s past of chasing after Song Yuntao, Bai Lang simply dismissed it.
Who hadn’t been young and foolish at some point? In any case, the second Miss Ye was about to marry his boss.
Those dark days were over now, she was their esteemed Madam.
Once Bai Lang came to this realization, he kept signaling the driver with his eyes to go faster, even faster.
Soon, a Rolls-Royce Phantom pulled up at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau. Bai Lang swiftly stepped out and opened the rear door. Lu Jingchen emerged, bending down to carry Ye Qianqian in his arms.
Nowadays, marriage registration didn’t require a household register or even an ID card, just the ID number was enough, which was convenient for Ye Qianqian, who had brought nothing with her.
From taking photos to stamping the official seal, it took less than half an hour before Lu Jingchen and Ye Qianqian each held a red marriage certificate.
As they left the Civil Affairs Bureau, Lu Jingchen snatched the certificate from Ye Qianqian’s hands. “Bai Lang, lock our marriage certificates in the safe.”
“Understood, Third Master. Safe travels, Madam.” Bai Lang opened the car door and bowed, though he longed to join the excitement, he just didn’t dare say so.
He loudly instructed the driver, “Take the Third Master and Madam to the Grand Hyatt. Drive carefully and mind their safety.”
“Thank you, Assistant Bai,” the handsome driver replied politely, though his glare at Bai Lang said otherwise: You just want me to drive slower! Do I look that stupid to you?
Meanwhile, Ye Qianqian was reading the barrage of comments:
[OMG! The plot’s changed, the female antagonist married the big boss in a flash?!]
[The female antagonist loves the male lead so much. Even if she’s married, the plot won’t change. The moment he beckons, she’ll come running like a dog.]
[Wow! Our female lead is about to exchange rings with the male lead! The officiant is inviting both sets of parents to the stage for a closer witness.]
Lu Jingchen observed the expressions of Bai Lang and the others, then cheerfully instructed, “Quit dawdling. We’re in a hurry to attend the wedding of the Song and Ye families to offer our blessings.”
“Since when am I that shameless?” Ye Qianqian was retorting to the barrage of comments, but Lu Jingchen misunderstood her words. “Madam doesn’t wish to go?”
