Too Late to Regret, She’s Now With the Big Boss - Chapter 28
“I’d like to propose a toast to everyone. Since Third Master hasn’t shown up for so long, I’ll go check next door,” Bai Lang said before downing his drink in one gulp.
Setting down his glass, he strode out, with the entire crowd following behind him. He still couldn’t decipher the meaning behind the message the master had sent him.
Seeing Ye Qianqian slip out of his sight, Song Yuntao quickly emerged from the side hall and noticed the large group heading his way.
Inside the side hall, the moment Ye Yunyan finished speaking, the man who had been leisurely exhaling smoke suddenly yanked her into his arms.
Ye Qingyan wrapped her arms around the well-defined frame of her adoptive elder brother, her gaze lingering on his sharp, blade-like eyebrows.
His tall, straight nose was as if carved by a master craftsman, and his mesmerizing peach-blossom eyes brimmed with charm.
In a coquettish voice, she murmured, “Brother~ So many people came for the homecoming banquet today~”
Her soft, seductive whisper shattered the last shred of his restraint…
Outside the side hall, a group led by Patriarch Ye stood waiting. Song Yuntao paused and said, “Father-in-law, I think there’s noise coming from this room.”
Though every room in the Ye residence had excellent soundproofing, his instincts told him someone was inside.
“President Ye, hurry and open the door, is Third Master in there?”
“I think I heard something too!”
“Open it! Let’s see who’s inside!”
Seeing the crowd’s insistence, Patriarch Ye called for the butler to fetch the spare key. The moment the door cracked open, he heard his eldest daughter’s moans.
Horrified, he instinctively glanced at his son-in-law’s reaction. Bai Lang, walking beside him, instantly grasped Third Master’s intent and kicked the door wide open.
In an instant, the scandalous scene was laid bare before everyone.
Simultaneously, the passionate sounds came to an abrupt halt.
Caught at the height of his excitement, the eldest Ye brother was so startled that he instantly wilted. Enraged, he bellowed, “Who the hell is it?!”
“You disgraceful-”
“Ah!”
Patriarch Ye’s furious roar and Ye Qingyan’s piercing scream erupted at the same time, nearly shattering the ceiling.
“Surely Young Master Ye must be drunk. Let’s step outside first!” Bai Lang said apologetically to the crowd.
“Assistant Bai, don’t blame yourself. How could this be your fault? You had no idea it was Young Master Ye in there!”
Song’s father was the first to defend Bai Lang. Though he was related to the Ye family by marriage, he was more than happy to watch the Ye heir humiliate himself.
“Mr. Song is right, this really isn’t Assistant Bai’s fault,” someone at the front chimed in.
“Tsk tsk tsk… Young Master Ye’s behavior… is just too scandalous!” Wen Xinyue gloated, clicking her tongue in mock disapproval.
Since childhood, her heart had belonged solely to Third Master Lu, so she didn’t recognize the Ye siblings. She had only pushed to the front because she’d heard Third Master Lu was here.
She had attended the Ye family’s homecoming banquet hoping to run into him, but after waiting so long without a glimpse, her mood had soured, ready to lash out at anyone.
Song Yuntao, witnessing his beloved wife entangled with her adoptive brother in such a disgraceful act, was consumed by a single thought:
Had they been doing this for a long time?
The suspicion took root like a venomous vine, twisting his temples into throbbing pain. His dark eyes burned with fury and jealousy.
“Who’s the woman inside? Yuntao, did you get a good look?” Song’s father asked eagerly.
“Mr. Song, it’s the Ye family’s eldest son and his adoptive sister,” Bai Lang kindly informed him, noting the man’s enthusiasm.
Adoptive sister?
Then that would mean…
“Ye Zhiqiang, you…you…have gone too far!” Old Man Song was so furious his head was buzzing.
He pointed a trembling finger at Old Man Ye, his stuttered words lacking any real bite.
“Please don’t be angry, in-law. My son must have been framed,” Old Man Ye said with deep anguish.
His pain seemed genuine, his eyes swirling with profound sorrow and an unfathomable regret.
Madam Ye arrived in a hurry with a group of high-society women, just in time to hear Old Man Song’s accusations and her husband’s apologies.
Without hesitation, she shifted the blame onto the woman. “It’s all this shameless seductress’s fault. Just wait till I beat her to death!”
“Don’t be upset, dear in-law. We’ll go in together and help you,” Madam Song said, swinging her expensive bejeweled handbag.
“Mom, stop making a scene. Get them all out of here,” Song Yuntao growled, his eyes bloodshot as he blocked his mother-in-law, his own mother, and the gaggle of society ladies.
The side room only had mismatched sofas for drunk guests to rest on, but now the clothes of the two inside were torn to shreds.
Earlier, he had been too stunned to process the reality of the situation, so it hadn’t occurred to him to offer his suit jacket to Ye Qingyan, after all, she was the woman he had gone to great lengths to marry.
Song Yuntao managed to stop Madam Ye and Madam Song, but he couldn’t stop the high-society woman who had followed Madam Ye for years. She let out a disbelieving shriek: “Miss Ye!”
“What did you say?” Madam Song asked, her voice trembling with shock, her nostrils flaring in anger.
Madam Ye, meanwhile, roared furiously, “Ruixuan and Qingyan were definitely framed! Who would be so cruel as to harm my children?!”
Lu Jingchen pulled Ye Qianqian back as she tried to get closer for a better look, pressing her head gently against his chest. “Don’t dirty your eyes.”
The sight enraged Wen Xinyue, who pointed at Ye Qianqian and screamed, “It’s her! It was her!”
Lu Zhenting, who had been standing beside Wen Xinyue, was stunned by the scandalous scene inside. His mind was in chaos, and he couldn’t react in time.
“Ungrateful girl, why would you do this?” Old Man Ye demanded, seeing Wen Xinyue accuse Ye Qianqian. He didn’t even bother to hear the full story.
“Qianqian, do you resent your sister?” Madam Ye’s furious accusation made most of the onlookers believe Ye Qianqian was the culprit.
“Framing her own brother and adopted sister, how vile! How heartless! She’s practically inhuman!”
“Not just heartless, but downright monstrous. No wonder Young Master Song would rather wait for Miss Ye than have her,” Wen Xinyue added fuel to the fire.
Blinded by jealousy, she fearlessly rushed up to Third Master Lu, trying to pull Ye Qianqian away.
Slap! Slap!
Ye Qianqian broke free from Lu Jingchen’s embrace and struck Wen Xinyue twice across the face.
“Miss, and all of you who slander me so carelessly, did your mothers never teach you that while you can eat whatever you like, you can’t just say whatever you please?”
Ye Qianqian’s second brother-in-law, Lu Zhenting (who had finally snapped out of his daze), and Xiao Feng all rushed toward her, only to be kicked to the ground by Bai Lang and Ding Fan.
“Ungrateful child, have you grown too bold? Are you trying to kill your own mother today?”
“We never should have brought you back, this unfilial wretch. If we’d known, we should’ve left you to rot in the countryside!”
This was the first time Ye Qianqian had ever defied Madam Ye, and the woman trembled with rage, her words spilling out unchecked.
“Mom? You’re the one twisting the truth. Others might not know why you brought me back, but don’t you remember?” Ye Qianqian asked calmly.
“I’d really like to know, why exactly was that?” Ding Fan shouted, knowing full well that his boss wanted the answer even more.
“Why is that? The rumors say the Ye family doesn’t treat Second Miss Ye well. Could it really just be about using her?”
A young woman who admired Ding Fan couldn’t help but ask.
