To the Man Destined to Kill Me - Chapter 62
“No. I want to.”
With that, she pulled Noah’s neck toward her and kissed him on the face. Her soft lips touched his cheek and upper lip.
Noah pulled his lips away from hers. He didn’t want to do anything that would hurt Scarlett, no matter what it was.
“It will be hard.”
“I’m fine.”
“It will hurt…”
“If I was going to run away because it hurt, I wouldn’t have started.”
“I’m sorry.”
Noah gently moved her hair from her face, which had stuck to her skin from sweat. Then he took her hand and interlocked their fingers.
“You should be saying ‘I love you,’ not ‘I’m sorry.’ This isn’t something to apologize for.”
“I love you.”
“Yeah. Me too.”
His large, long fingers gripped her small hand tightly, not allowing even a little gap between them. Noah’s warm body heat stimulated Scarlett.
Scarlett felt something rising inside her. Her breath became heavy, and her head felt dizzy.
Hah.
A hot sigh escaped her lips.
Noah gently caressed her face.
They became one.
“Ah.”
Was this a dream?
She thought it would be a relief if she didn’t hate him. She had always thought that if she could stay by his side, she would have everything in the world. And now, he had her. He was swallowing her world.
“Don’t cry. What’s wrong?”
Scarlett gently caressed Noah’s cheek. In truth, she felt the same emotions as him. She followed him, tears filling her eyes.
In this moment, in this place, in this world, it was just her and him.
It didn’t matter how the rest of the world was tangled up. They were free from it all.
Scarlett had Noah, and Noah had Scarlett. That was a truth no one could deny. It was a truth that could never be changed by any lie.
As she thought about this, Scarlett couldn’t control her emotions—fear and overwhelming joy mixed together.
“Noah…”
Finally, she burst into tears. She wrapped her arms around Noah’s head and sobbed uncontrollably.
There was not even a small distance between them. Hatred or anger couldn’t tear them apart.
Noah felt as though his heart was being torn apart by her cries. He knew he had become a wound to her, and he wanted to apologize so badly it hurt. He wished he weren’t Noah Ashford.
“Shh. It’s okay.”
Noah comforted her, sensing her fear. No matter what storm came her way, he would block it. She was his, and she had allowed herself to belong to him, so he would protect her.
He would risk his life, burn his soul to do so.
“Nothing can harm you.”
The matters of his mother and father were meaningless. They loved each other.
In this moment, Scarlett could feel Noah’s deep emotions. From his broken face to the affectionate way he called her name…
“Don’t cry.”
Noah wiped her tears away. He smiled as though to reassure her, despite the sadness.
“Hah… No, ah…”
“Scarlett. Scarlett.”
They called each other’s name.
They wanted to make sure that the one who had stolen their heart was not far away, that the distance between them wasn’t vast.
In the illusion of the night, with all the sins of the world hidden in darkness, they surrendered to this night. In the small world on the tiny bed, they confirmed their feelings for each other.
“Scarlett. Scarlett.”
Noah kept calling her name. His face, filled with pleasure, looked like it would explode. He seemed like a moth to the flame. In that moment of ecstasy, he felt he could burn everything he had.
“Ah…”
Scarlett couldn’t believe the sounds coming from her lips. She felt so unfamiliar with herself. Her body didn’t seem like her own. The sensations running through her arms, legs, waist, and toes were new and strange.
They both became drenched in sweat from their heat toward each other.
“Scarlett. Hah. Scarlett…”
My Scarlett. My her. My love, my soul, my everything.
For you, I could throw myself into a fire that never burns out.
Her breath became so labored that she thought her chest would explode. Then, Scarlett’s vision turned completely white. And—
“Hah. Hah.”
Noah didn’t collapse but instead pulled her waist close, hugging her tightly. His eyes were bloodshot as he buried his face in her chest.
Scarlett was his. No one could deny this truth.
Scarlett belonged to Noah Ashford.
And he, Noah Ashford, belonged to Scarlett White.
They indulged in each other, showing no hidden affection.
It was deeply moving.
“Hah. Hah. Scarlett.”
Noah caressed Scarlett’s cheek. Her face, wet with sweat, her damp eyes, were so lovable. He gently kissed her lips. The sound of their lips meeting was provocative. Noah let out a silly laugh.
He couldn’t be any happier. He was sure that today was the happiest day of his life, one he would never forget until the day he died.
After the act, Scarlett felt completely drained, her body limp. She couldn’t control her body anymore. She had no more strength left.
Noah noticed her state and hugged her tightly. As she heard his confession of love, she fell asleep almost immediately. She had no strength left to stay conscious.
The Next Morning
Scarlett opened her eyes as the morning sunlight streamed through the window. Noah was lying right next to her.
His strong arm, firm with muscle, was tightly wrapped around her waist, and his long legs were tangled with hers. Her whole body was wrapped in his embrace.
Even in his sleep, Noah clung to her, afraid she might disappear like morning mist. His breath was warm on her forehead, and his chest rose and fell in front of her.
It was strange to have a man in her bed for the first time, but Scarlett was content because it was Noah.
She wrapped her arm around his waist and burrowed deeper into his embrace.
Her body ached, but she didn’t regret the night. Not because of the pleasure from the act, but because they had connected on a deeper level. They had each other, and through that, they had become bound to each other.
She looked up at Noah’s face, bathed in sunlight. His long eyelashes, elegant nose, and neat jawline—part of the man she loved, Noah Ashford.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
She felt Noah’s warmth and heartbeat as she lay in his arms. She felt the proof of the vulnerable soul by her side. And in the pain in her body, she felt the remnants of the night.
In just a few hours, so much had changed. The sun had risen in the east, but Scarlett White’s world had been completely turned upside down.
But she didn’t mind. This was what she had prepared for. In fact, it didn’t matter if the sun rose in the west or the moon fell into the sea.
What she had wanted was revenge. But that revenge had failed miserably. Instead, Noah Ashford had stolen her soul. And in just a few hours, he had completely taken her.
Scarlett had to admit it. She truly loved Noah Ashford. After all the betrayal, what she felt last night was pure affection.
“Noah.”
She whispered his name in a hushed voice. She raised her hand and gently ran her fingers through his hair. Her fingertips lightly caressed his rising and falling chest.
Noah’s eyelids fluttered, then slowly opened. His violet eyes peeked through his long lashes.
His eyes were violet, weren’t they? It didn’t matter. Whether they were red or gray, Noah was Noah.
As their gazes met, Noah smiled, his face radiating happiness. His eyes narrowed, and his lips curled upward. He gently stroked Scarlett’s head. Sleeping and waking up with her felt like a dream.
“I love you.”
I love you.
You must know the weight behind those words.
They both felt how heavy their love was, and how deeply they understood each other’s feelings.
But the countless struggles hidden in the words “I love you” would be hard for anyone to understand. How many nights had she suffered through?
She had hated herself countless times. She had blamed herself, trampling on her love. It had been hard to admit, and she couldn’t accept her feelings until now, but she was finally ready to accept it.
“I love you.”
Then she quickly pulled Noah’s face toward her and kissed his lips.
It was a light kiss, but it felt almost sacred. Pulling away, Scarlett asked him,
“Won’t you kiss me again?”
Noah smiled as though he had the whole world. He climbed on top of her. Her body ached as if she had been beaten, but Scarlett wanted to live in the moment.
Her body was a mess, and it didn’t matter if her soul burned in hell. The reality she lived in had long since been hell. She just hadn’t realized it before.
But in this hell, Noah was with her. And that was enough.
