Three Sentences That Made My Ex-Wife Spit Blood - Chapter 78
“Later, in order to combat the decline of spiritual energy, the clans once used the Sacred Gu. We only know that the original Sacred Gu was enshrined at the heart of the Martial World. After it was activated, only the heads of the Gu, Yin, and Meng families knew its location.”
“Then, sixty years ago, even though Gu Lian failed, someone working with him still managed to steal the Sacred Gu.”
“Since then, the three major families have repeatedly sent younger generations out of the Martial World in secret, hoping they could retrieve it. But…” Fu Chenyang stopped there. The rest was easy for Yan Qinglan and Wen Huaxi to figure out.
It had simply been sixty years of searching, but the Sacred Gu was still nowhere to be found.
No wonder Meng Qingzhou ended up in the secular world.
Yan Qinglan, now deep in thought, realized this also explained why Meng Qingzhou had connections to so many people who were somehow linked to the Martial World. With those ties, she had helped Yan Mingzhu find rare medicinal herbs.
Even that so-called inner-circle auction house was likely something established by the group searching for the Sacred Gu.
“Thirty years ago, the previous Holy Child reported finding it. But before she could bring it back, she died outside the Martial World from spiritual depletion.”
Fu Chenyang paused briefly before continuing.
“We investigated her disappearance for a long time. There are very few of our people outside the Martial World, so gathering information was extremely difficult. But every clue pointed to the Yan family.”
“If we had known you carried the Yan surname, we never would have let you return so quickly the first time we saved you.”
When Yin Fujun saw the thoughtful but unsurprised look in Yan Qinglan’s eyes, she silently formed a conclusion.
“This is all we are able to share. The Sacred Gu is critical to the Martial World. If you have any leads, we are willing to exchange information. The rumors surrounding its powers are not entirely accurate, but it can indeed grant one wish. That is the sincerity we are offering.”
It was Fu Chenyang who explained again.
Wen Huaxi listened quietly and started forming a theory of her own.
Yan Qinglan squeezed Wen Huaxi’s hand gently, rubbing it in a soothing way.
“Have either of you considered that I might already have the Sacred Gu?”
Based on everything they had said, Yan Qinglan’s late mother, whom she had never met, was the previous Holy Child of the Martial World.
It was not hard to guess what the Sacred Gu truly was.
Yin Fujun narrowed her eyes and replied, “That is impossible.”
Yan Qinglan remained silent and stared back at her.
Yin Fujun finally sighed.
Even letting Fu Chenyang speak on her behalf required effort. Thinking was exhausting.
“The Sacred Gu affects the physical health of ordinary people. You might have the talent of ancient cultivation, but since you have never formally trained, you are still considered an ordinary person.”
“I understand,” Yan Qinglan replied. She heard the words but did not fully believe them.
These people did not even know what the Sacred Gu really was. The effects they described might not be accurate.
She looked at Wen Huaxi, who returned her gaze. They were clearly thinking the same thing.
“We do have a lead on the Sacred Gu. In fact, we also have information about Gu Lian. Our request is simple.”
“We want to ensure our family’s safety. We also do not want to be harassed in the future by powerful and unpredictable forces like the Martial World.”
“That can be arranged,” Yin Fujun said while sipping her tea.
After several seconds of silence, Fu Chenyang spoke up again. “She means she can help.”
Wen Huaxi could not help but silently complain. This woman really did speak as little as possible.
“Then we have a deal. I need you both to cooperate with something.”
After the meal and parting ways with them, Wen Huaxi still felt like her mind had not fully returned.
Yan Qinglan held her close and brought her home.
As she gently rubbed her back, she asked, “Is something bothering you?”
“Yes. Sister Qing, I remember the jade rings were a pair. But only one of them came out with our child. What if the other one is inside me?”
Wen Huaxi looked genuinely worried. She was afraid those people from the Martial World might dissect her.
Yan Qinglan frowned and considered the possibility seriously.
“If that’s true, then we should flee overseas,” she said with a soft laugh, trying to comfort her.
“I still hope we can take it out. They said it could be harmful to the body.” Her voice remained firm. She would not accept any solution that involved dissection.
“When I regain my memory, maybe we will understand everything.” Yan Qinglan squeezed her hand gently.
“They should be able to sense the presence of the Sacred Gu. Otherwise, Meng Qingzhou would not have targeted me.”
“But if that thing was really inside me before, why didn’t they notice?”
As she spoke, Wen Huaxi reached into Yan Qinglan’s bag and took out the jade ring. She held it up toward the light.
The ring was clearly made of jade.
Its quality was excellent, free of any visible flaws. With their naked eyes, they could not detect anything unusual.
If not for all the clues pointing to it, neither of them would have thought it was anything special.
“I will protect you with everything I have,” Yan Qinglan said. She could not promise more than that.
Having her wife reborn and getting another chance to be together was a rare gift. Neither of them wanted to lose it.
Wen Huaxi snuggled up to her. “I want to protect you too.” But she felt like there was not much she could do.
“Then protect me tonight,” Yan Qinglan said while pulling her into a hug. “Xiao Xi, there’s a thunderstorm tonight. I want to sleep beside you.”
“You need to act normal. I never said you couldn’t.” Wen Huaxi muttered and poked her in the waist.
“Then maybe we could—”
“No. Not even a little. Don’t even think about it.” Wen Huaxi knew exactly what she was hinting at and pushed her away without hesitation.
She was always trying to seduce her. It was embarrassing. What started as a two-month wait had turned into one. Now, even two weeks felt hard to endure.
“Alright,” Yan Qinglan said with a disappointed look she did not even try to hide.
Wen Huaxi simply gave her a look.
The second week of filming for their reality show went smoothly.
However, Wen Huaxi looked very annoyed when she saw how clingy Yan Qinglan was being around her on set.
“I feel like I need to defend myself,” Yan Qinglan said on the way home. Wen Huaxi would not even let her hug her, so she raised her hands and pretended to be innocent.
“I don’t want to hear it.”
Wen Huaxi turned away firmly. She was sure it would only be another one of Yan Qinglan’s teasing lines meant to seduce her.
She had made up her mind to resist Yan Qinglan’s increasingly skilled flirting.
“But Xiao Xi, we are on a romance reality show as an actual couple. If there is no romance, then it is not really a romance show, is it?” Yan Qinglan replied with confidence, her tone full of righteous logic.
“That still doesn’t mean you have to stick to me like a conjoined twin. President Yan, what happened to your public image?” Wen Huaxi asked, gently pushing her away.
“Who needs an image when I have a wife?” Yan Qinglan said, leaning in to kiss the back of Wen Huaxi’s hand.
Caught off guard, Wen Huaxi quickly pulled her hand away.
But Yan Qinglan did not miss a beat. She held onto Wen Huaxi’s retreating hand, pulled her close by the waist, and gently pushed her downward.
“We are still in the car,” Wen Huaxi started to protest, but before she could finish, Yan Qinglan’s lips brushed against hers. Her mind went completely blank.
Words failed her. Even the strength in her hands faded.
It had been weeks since they had been this close. Wen Huaxi had missed it deeply, though she was not the only one.
Yan Qinglan missed it even more.
Every moment spent together made it harder for her to hold back her desire to be close.
Even the softest kiss felt like it was never enough.
It was a light touch, delicate and fleeting, but in her senses, it exploded like fireworks.
Brilliant and overwhelming, then gone in an instant.
It made Wen Huaxi want more.
Just as Yan Qinglan was about to pull away, Wen Huaxi instinctively grabbed her and leaned in again, pressing herself into her arms.
She moved like a fish slipping into water, graceful and natural, close and warm.
Only when her vision began to blur from the lack of oxygen did Wen Huaxi finally manage to push Yan Qinglan away.
Neither of them had noticed when the car had stopped.
Flushed with embarrassment, Wen Huaxi tried to escape, but Yan Qinglan held her tightly. With no other choice, she buried her face in Yan Qinglan’s chest.
Yan Qinglan half-carried her into the house. She dropped her things carelessly on the floor, not bothering to line up her shoes like she usually did.
The two of them completely forgot to check on Wen Qingxun. They headed straight for the bedroom.
It was Yan Qinglan’s room, the one they both knew best.
Wen Huaxi was pushed gently onto the bed. Her eyes still shimmered with tears from earlier, and the tip of her nose was tinged red.
The sight of her like this made Yan Qinglan’s last shred of self-control crumble.
She leaned in and bit Wen Huaxi’s shoulder gently, just firm enough to sting.
It was only slightly more than a teasing touch, but it was enough to make Wen Huaxi let out a soft cry.
Her breath was completely stolen by the woman so close to her.
Wen Huaxi felt dizzy. Her thoughts became scattered, and all she wanted was to lose herself in the moment with Yan Qinglan.
But then, a baby’s crying rang out.
Yan Qinglan heard it too.
She could not bring herself to stop.
She had waited so long for this one moment.
That desire she had been suppressing, the ache she had endured for so long, was nearly tearing her apart.
“I do not care,” Yan Qinglan muttered, giving Wen Huaxi a brief chance to breathe.
“No, we cannot,” Wen Huaxi said, taking a deep breath.
They had promised their daughter they would see her first thing when they got home. She could not break that promise.
“Yan Qinglan, let go,” she said, but her body leaned against her once more.
She was breathing hard, which gave Yan Qinglan another opening. Her lips found Wen Huaxi’s again.
But now even kissing felt like it was not enough.
“No. Yan Qinglan, you are too rough again. It hurts. You are breaking our promise to our daughter. You are not listening to me. There is still a whole week left,” Wen Huaxi finally said, pressing her hands against Yan Qinglan’s chest. Her eyes were filled with tears, red and glistening like those of a helpless little rabbit.
She looked so heartbreakingly sweet that it made her even more irresistible.
Even in her rejection, her touch was gentle, as if still drawing her in.
Yan Qinglan’s eyelashes trembled. She was fighting a difficult battle between reason and instinct.
“You are mean, annoying, and terrible at taking care of me. I do not want you today. Not at all.”
Wen Huaxi finally got the words out, holding back the trembling in her voice and the pressure in her chest.
“You… do not want me?”
Yan Qinglan looked lost, her expression blank with confusion.
As Wen Huaxi spoke each word of frustration and accusation, Yan Qinglan’s head began to throb more and more.
Something felt wrong.
Thinking back, it seemed like ever since she had allowed herself to act recklessly today, her state had been off.
She pressed her fingers against her temple, trying to steady herself.
“No, I do not want you,” Wen Huaxi said again, this time more firmly.
And she definitely meant it in that way. Surely Yan Qinglan understood what she meant.
Her voice cracked as she spoke, and just then she saw her lover rise to her feet.
But Yan Qinglan’s face was flushed, her eyes dazed. She covered her mouth, and a faint line of blood appeared at the corner of her lips.
“Yan Qinglan? Yan Qinglan, I did not mean it. I did not really mean I do not want you. What is happening? Please do not scare me.”
Wen Huaxi reached out to catch her, but she could not steady her in time.
Yan Qinglan collapsed straight to the floor, unconscious.
