Three Sentences That Made My Ex-Wife Spit Blood - Chapter 38
Yan Qinglan couldn’t exactly tell Wen Huaxi that it was the child who had entered her dream, showed her their face, and made her believe they truly had a baby together.
The truth was, when she woke up that morning, she had been so struck by the dream of that adorable child that she impulsively told Wen Huaxi she believed her.
But once she was fully awake, doubts began to creep in.
There had never been a case of someone entering another’s dream. It didn’t make sense from a scientific or spiritual point of view. It simply couldn’t be real.
What if she had just wanted the child to be hers so badly that her mind created that dream? Maybe her brain had imagined a little one who happened to look exactly like her.
But she had already said those words. It was too late to take them back. All she could do now was avoid the topic.
“Wasn’t it you who kept telling me every day that the baby was mine?” she said, wrapping her arms around Wen Huaxi and gently stroking her still-flat belly.
“Now that I believe you, you’re not satisfied?”
Her hand moved lightly across Wen Huaxi’s stomach, sending a shiver through her.
Wen Huaxi’s face turned red. She quickly grabbed Yan Qinglan’s hand, pushed it aside, and gave her a gentle shove.
“It’s not that.” She was just curious about why Sister Qing’s attitude had changed so suddenly.
From the looks of it, since Sister Qing didn’t want to explain, she wouldn’t press any further.
In the end, whether she believed her or not didn’t really matter. Once the baby was born, a simple genetic test would reveal the truth.
“By the way, Sister Qing, I won’t be coming home tomorrow night. I need to talk to my sister.”
There were some things she had to explain to Wen Suixue face to face.
“What is it about?” Yan Qinglan’s fingers tensed slightly on the bedsheet.
“A few things. The jade stone, the design work, the designer I found for her company. And of course, the pregnancy.”
Du Jiayan had replied earlier, saying she was free tomorrow. That helped Wen Huaxi decide to visit Wen Suixue.
She listed the tasks while doing the time estimates in her head.
“It’s going to be late when I’m done. There’s no way I’m dragging myself all the way back here. It’s exhausting.”
Yan Qinglan wanted to say she didn’t want her to overexert herself, but the words caught in her throat.
She felt a heavy pressure building in her chest. After a few moments, she exhaled and asked carefully, “Then can I stay over with you at your sister’s place?”
Wen Huaxi turned her head and looked at her like she’d just said something strange.
“Sister Qing, you’re getting really clingy.”
That sentence hit Yan Qinglan hard. Her whole body stiffened.
Wen Huaxi gave her fingers a gentle squeeze and continued, “I think it’s better if you don’t come. If my sister finds out I’m pregnant, she might want to strangle you.”
She paused, then added with a serious look, “Actually, that might be putting it lightly. She’d probably want to tear you into pieces.”
“Your sister’s that intense?” Yan Qinglan asked. She remembered Wen Suixue was also an omega.
Wen Huaxi smiled faintly. “She’s my sister. She worked part-time while studying and still raised me after I got kicked out of the house. She did everything for me.”
So, of all people, the one she should never argue with was her sister.
And the one she should never lie to was also her sister. Unfortunately, her past self didn’t understand that.
“In short, it’s better if you don’t come. I’m saying this for your own good.”
Even if she had her reasons, Wen Huaxi knew Wen Suixue would still be angry when she found out.
Yan Qinglan sighed.
She didn’t really understand that kind of sibling bond.
Her own half-brother wasn’t even worth mentioning.
The rest of her cousins were constantly trying to take her power. Even her one distant cousin was always stealing food from her and couldn’t be forgiven.
Sisterly relationships like Wen Huaxi had with her sister, full of love and mutual support, seemed like something out of fiction.
“Alright, I won’t go. It’s time to sleep, Xiaoxi.”
Even though she said that, Yan Qinglan couldn’t help thinking. Wen Huaxi was going to tell her sister about the pregnancy. Would she tell her who the father was?
Should she sneak over and listen in?
The next day, after dropping Wen Huaxi off at the film set, Yan Qinglan pinched her arm.
How could she even think about eavesdropping? That was low. She shouldn’t even entertain the idea.
Wen Huaxi’s scenes finished early again. After wrapping up, she messaged Wen Suixue and waited for her to come pick her up.
Yu Xiyun, who finally had some time off, wanted to spend a bit more time with Wen Huaxi. But before she could get close, she saw another unfamiliar woman walking toward her.
Yu Xiyun frowned and walked a little closer.
One just left, and now another one shows up?
The first time she saw Wen Huaxi, she had known right away that someone like her would attract a lot of attention.
But after getting a good look at the woman’s face, she relaxed a little.
This must be the sister Wen Huaxi had mentioned before.
The two had nearly identical almond-shaped eyes. Their features were sharp, expressive, and well-proportioned.
The only difference was their hair color.
“Sis, this is my friend Yu Xiyun. We met during filming,” Wen Huaxi said as she introduced them.
“Yu Xiyun, this is my sister, Wen Suixue.”
The two exchanged greetings. Yu Xiyun didn’t see any trace of hostility in Wen Suixue’s eyes.
That eased her mind.
“See you tomorrow,” Wen Huaxi said with a wave, then left holding her sister’s arm.
“With how close you are to that Yan woman, I’m surprised you still remember your sister exists,” Wen Suixue said as soon as they got in the car.
Wen Huaxi softened instantly. She clung to Wen Suixue’s arm and acted spoiled until her sister finally smiled.
“I have so much to talk to you about today,” Wen Huaxi said as she pulled up the photos of the jade stone on her phone.
“And I have a friend coming over too. Just to discuss the jewelry stuff, then she’ll leave.”
“My little sister’s all grown up now,” Wen Suixue said, genuinely touched. “You’re even helping out with the business.”
She ordered Wen Huaxi’s favorite dishes to be delivered.
“I’ll be twenty-one soon,” Wen Huaxi said as she leaned comfortably into her sister’s arms.
When Du Jiayan arrived, they exchanged greetings before Wen Huaxi got straight to the point.
She showed them her ideas for the jewelry designs and shared her thoughts on branding and marketing.
Du Jiayan was shocked to discover that Wen Huaxi’s jewelry design matched perfectly with the first clothing line she planned to release after her return to the fashion scene.
If she hadn’t kept that design a secret, she would have suspected Wen Huaxi had seen it and designed her pieces to match.
But after reviewing Wen Huaxi’s previous sketches, Du Jiayan’s initial casual attitude quickly disappeared.
She had only come today expecting to meet the girl who bought her design. She thought they might connect and become friends.
But now, she realized she had to stay sharp.
If she let her guard down, this rising star might just leave her behind on the shore.
Or perhaps they could work together.
Wen Huaxi seemed to have already seen through Du Jiayan’s thoughts and straightforwardly extended her invitation.
“Miss Du, you’ve been out of the industry for four or five years now. As you know, fashion updates every season. Even if you’ve been keeping up with the trends at home, you are still a step behind. More importantly, I believe what you truly need is a powerful force that can promote you and support your return. That is what we can offer you in this contract.”
As she said this, Wen Huaxi gave a slight smile. It was assertive without being aggressive.
She knew exactly where Du Jiayan’s pain lay. After her marriage, even when she wanted to pursue her career again, that useless man always interfered under the excuse that it was for her own good.
So now that Du Jiayan was planning a comeback, she would definitely want a team with no ties to her ex-husband. Wen Suixue’s company was the perfect match.
Although it lacked some international reputation, it had a solid presence domestically. For Du Jiayan, Wenyu Yixiang was the most suitable choice.
“So, what do you think of Wenyu Yixiang?”
Du Jiayan paused for a few seconds, then suddenly laughed.
“Perfect. Absolutely perfect. With a junior designer who understands my vision so well, and such a sincere offer, how could I possibly say no?”
She had been unsure at first. Most of her current contacts were with international fashion houses, but none had made attractive proposals.
Now, after hearing Wen Huaxi’s pitch, she no longer hesitated.
After discussing the jewelry design in more detail, Du Jiayan left first.
Wen Suixue, who had barely lifted a finger other than providing the contract, watched her younger sister secure a legendary designer with just a sketch and a few words.
Her little sister had truly grown. So much so that she started to feel a little suspicious.
Noticing her sister’s gaze, Wen Huaxi smiled.
“You saw through me, didn’t you?”
She sat beside her sister and gently held her hand.
“Sis, what I’m going to tell you may sound hard to believe. But if you don’t believe me, then no one else in this world ever will.”
Seeing her speak with such seriousness, Wen Suixue straightened up and prepared to listen.
“To put it simply, I was reborn. In my previous life, I insisted on marrying Yan Qinglan and broke off contact with you. I lived alone for four years. It wasn’t all bad. I made a name for myself in the entertainment industry. But in the end, I divorced Yan Qinglan. She never truly loved me.”
“After the divorce, I got into a car accident. When I opened my eyes again, I was back at twenty, right after we got our marriage certificate.”
Wen Huaxi summarized her past experience, trying not to scare her sister.
But as expected, Wen Suixue believed her without question.
She tightened her grip on Wen Huaxi’s hand and asked gently, “Did it hurt?”
As a sister, her only concern was her sibling’s well-being, not what advantages she may have gained from her second chance.
Wen Huaxi lowered her eyes to hide the tears gathering there.
“No. It didn’t hurt. I just woke up again.”
But it had been terrifying.
She remembered drifting endlessly in darkness. No sound. No light. No sensation. Every sense had been shut off. Even the strongest person would break under that kind of isolation.
“You were wonderful though. Even when we were not speaking, you still came to all my movie premieres. When I was under public attack, you stood by me and defended me.”
Wen Huaxi wanted to say, “It was my fault. I should not have fought with you.”
Wen Suixue shook her head.
“I was no better. Why couldn’t I just swallow my pride and apologize? We’re sisters.”
“That’s why I was given a second chance. Now that we’re good again, we must never fight.”
Wen Huaxi grinned as she said this.
She had never told anyone else about her rebirth. Her sister was the first. Saying it out loud lifted a weight off her chest. It was a kind of relief she didn’t know she needed.
She no longer had to carry everything alone or worry about making a wrong move. Her sister would always have her back.
Well, maybe she was celebrating too soon. There was still one more thing she had to say.
Wen Huaxi swallowed and continued.
“There’s one more thing. In my past life, just before divorcing Yan Qinglan, I slept with her. She marked me. I got pregnant.”
That single sentence left Wen Suixue completely frozen.
“At the time, I wanted a child with her. I thought maybe having a baby could prove that something real existed between us. So, I did something I’m not proud of. I tampered with her birth control. I planned to leave her afterward and raise the baby alone. I even had money saved. But then I got into the accident.”
“And when I came back to this life, I realized something. That baby, the one I was carrying before the crash, came back with me.”
She paused for a moment before finishing.
“So, Sis, I’m pregnant now. I’m just under two months along. In this life, I haven’t marked anyone. So, the baby can only be the one with Yan Qinglan’s bloodline.”
Now the real question was just how much of a shock was this for her poor sister?
