Three Sentences That Made My Ex-Wife Spit Blood - Chapter 15
“Alright. I promise.”
“That’s great. Thank you, good sister.” Wen Huaxi let go of Yan Qinglan without hesitation.
It was a pity that in her previous life, she had never realized how vulnerable Yan Qinglan was to excessive affection and bold physical closeness.
Now that she no longer had feelings for Yan Qinglan, she found it entertaining to watch her struggle. Disgusted yet helpless, unable to do anything about it.
Yan Qinglan quickly rubbed her poor arm where Wen Huaxi had clung too tightly. Her skin was covered in goosebumps.
Mentally bracing herself for the inevitable dessert snatching, Yan Qinglan placed the box of sweets on the table and opened it with a look of quiet resolve, as if she were preparing for battle.
Wen Huaxi glanced at it. They were all the overly sweet kind. She didn’t even like them.
But that wasn’t the point. She only wanted to annoy Yan Qinglan.
Taking a spoon, Wen Huaxi went straight for the chestnut cake Yan Qinglan had been eyeing.
Yan Qinglan took a deep breath and reminded herself not to get angry. Then she scooped into the strawberry tart instead, determined to finish it quickly and get it over with.
Wen Huaxi had only taken one bite of the chestnut cake when she noticed Yan Qinglan switching targets. She immediately leaned over.
“Sister Lan, this one looks delicious too. Let me try a bite.”
“I already ate from it.” Yan Qinglan, who had always been particular about cleanliness, pulled the strawberry tart slightly farther away. She lowered her eyes and looked down at Wen Huaxi, who was now trying to lean against her. Her posture was lofty, almost arrogant. Wen Huaxi thought she looked like a proud peacock showing off.
And she had every intention of plucking that peacock.
“It’s fine. I’m not like you. I don’t mind sharing with my dear sister.” Before Yan Qinglan could react, Wen Huaxi had already taken a spoonful.
A vein started to throb on Yan Qinglan’s forehead.
“It really is good.” Wen Huaxi scooped another bite from the other side of the tart.
Yan Qinglan crushed the plastic spoon in her hand.
She was certain Wen Huaxi was doing it on purpose.
“Aren’t you going to eat, Sister?”
Yan Qinglan’s glare was sharp and filled with the urge to murder, but Wen Huaxi didn’t care at all. She smiled sweetly, calm and cheerful, completely unfazed.
“You can have it,” Yan Qinglan muttered, clearly running out of patience. She was already doing well not to strangle this little gremlin.
“It’s ours anyway. We’re sharing. Here, you try the chestnut cake.” Wen Huaxi scooped another spoonful and held it up to Yan Qinglan’s mouth.
“Xiaoxi.” Yan Qinglan’s voice was now strained through gritted teeth. Her mouth twitched, then curved into her usual perfect smile.
Wen Huaxi could barely contain her laughter.
She loved seeing this side of Yan Qinglan—displeased, annoyed, but utterly helpless.
“Come on. It’s sweet and really good.” Taking advantage of the moment when Yan Qinglan opened her mouth to speak, Wen Huaxi quickly delivered the spoonful of cake straight into her mouth.
Yan Qinglan froze for three full seconds, then dropped the dessert box and rushed toward the sink.
Wen Huaxi collapsed onto the sofa, laughing so hard she could hardly breathe.
Maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing if Yan Qinglan refused to divorce her right away.
Messing with her, getting her riled up, watching her react—it was all too fun.
She could not understand how, in her last life, she had wasted this golden opportunity. She had spent all her energy trying to please Yan Qinglan, completely ignoring the joy of teasing her.
Yan Qinglan had never once cared about her desperate attempts to gain approval.
With that thought, Wen Huaxi’s smile faded.
She set the dessert aside and returned to her room.
When she was busy, it was easier to forget things. Her mood would settle into the usual frustration of having too much to do.
After rinsing her mouth, Yan Qinglan returned to the living room, only to find that Wen Huaxi had already gone upstairs. Her irritation started to build again.
She had never seen anyone so bratty.
Twenty years old and still treating this kind of thing like a joke. Utterly childish.
They were supposed to be in a contract marriage. Living peacefully, without interfering in each other’s lives, was the ideal arrangement.
Yan Qinglan sighed, trying to release the frustration.
She was still craving sweets.
Carefully scooping out the parts that Wen Huaxi had touched, she ate the rest.
But next time, she reminded herself, she would never eat in front of Wen Huaxi again.
Not many people dared to snatch food from her. Wen Huaxi was the only one.
And unfortunately, they had to live under the same roof.
For the first time, Yan Qinglan truly understood the saying: if you cannot beat them, stay away.
In the days that followed, Yan Qinglan did exactly that. She kept her distance from Wen Huaxi at all times.
She came home, but always went straight to her room. They barely saw each other, not even in passing.
Meanwhile, Wen Huaxi finished drawing her design, but had no idea how to contact her sister.
She hesitated for days.
Until the moment her period, which had been unusually late, finally showed signs of spotting.
That was when she began to feel that something was wrong.
She had always been extremely regular. Was she actually late this time?
After some internal struggle, she made an appointment and went to the hospital.
The doctor was an experienced omega woman. After listening to Wen Huaxi’s symptoms, she ordered some tests.
Wen Huaxi found it strange. These tests were exactly like the ones she had undergone when she was pregnant in her past life.
But that was impossible. She had been reborn. In this life, she had not gone through anything like that. There should not be a baby.
Confused but compliant, she completed all the tests. When she finally received the pregnancy results, Wen Huaxi froze.
It felt as if lightning had struck her from above. Her mind went blank. For a moment, she lost all sense of the world around her.
She could say with absolute certainty that she had not been with anyone.
So where had this child come from?
The doctor saw her expression and shook her head.
Another one who didn’t use protection. Young people these days really don’t know how to take care of themselves.
“Let’s do an ultrasound to confirm how far along the pregnancy is.”
The doctor was kind and didn’t ask Wen Huaxi when her last intimate encounter had been. She simply recommended further testing.
Wen Huaxi walked into the ultrasound room like a robot and came out the same way. She waited in the hallway, staring at the hospital ceiling.
For the first time, she realized that going to the hospital alone could feel so helpless.
“Your baby is about forty days along.”
The doctor’s calm announcement struck like a bolt of lightning.
Wen Huaxi didn’t even remember how she had left the hospital or how she got home.
She held the report, reading it again and again, until she reached one undeniable conclusion.
She was pregnant.
Just like the Virgin Mary, she had become pregnant without any physical relationship.
Wen Huaxi collapsed onto the sofa, completely overwhelmed. She lay there like a motionless salted fish, stunned by the blow.
This baby had come out of nowhere.
She didn’t know whose it was.
She didn’t know how it had happened.
She didn’t even know whether she should keep it.
The only thing she could be certain of was that this baby had appeared almost immediately after her rebirth.
Could it be that she hadn’t actually been reborn, but had crossed over into another body?
Maybe this version of her in a parallel world had a few secret partners, and now she had become pregnant without even knowing it.
That would be completely ridiculous.
After her rebirth, she had done a full investigation to confirm she had returned to her twenty-year-old self, and there were no messy relationships in her past.
Wen Huaxi was at a complete loss. In frustration, she opened a box of biscuits she had found yesterday—ones Yan Qinglan had hidden—and started eating them one by one.
By the time she reached the bottom of the box, her composure finally cracked. Her tears spilled out.
She had planned to work hard and live well. How had she ended up with a baby so suddenly?
Whose child was it?
Surely she hadn’t just created it herself.
She did miss the child she had lost in her past life, but that had all ended with her.
Suddenly, a thought struck her.
If she could be reborn, why couldn’t the baby be too?
She had read enough rebirth stories to know that there were different types: body transmigration and soul transmigration.
If she had returned to this world with her original body, then maybe the presence of the baby wasn’t so strange after all.
But it still didn’t make sense.
She was twenty years old, still a virgin, and now she had a baby that was already forty days along.
She didn’t even know who the other parent was.
Wen Huaxi wanted nothing more than to cry.
At that moment, Yan Qinglan opened the door and saw her contract wife collapsed on the sofa, crying hard. Her small face was flushed, and her shoulders were shaking as she sobbed.
In her hands was a box of biscuits—ones that had been mistakenly delivered back home because she forgot to change the shipping address.
Her biscuits. The ones she remembered hiding away carefully.
Why were they in Wen Huaxi’s hands?
“Xiaoxi, what’s wrong?” Yan Qinglan stopped in her tracks and forced herself to sound concerned.
The moment Wen Huaxi saw her, her tears flowed even more fiercely. They streamed down in large drops, completely unstoppable.
She was even being careful to catch them with tissues, so they wouldn’t fall on her clothes.
If this baby really belonged to that two-faced, cold-hearted, manipulative, self-centered flirt—someone she disliked more than anyone else in the universe—what was she supposed to do?
But in her past life, that baby had indeed been this awful woman’s child.
Wen Huaxi became more conflicted. Her tears poured down like a flood, and she didn’t even notice that Yan Qinglan had walked up beside her.
“Xiaoxi, did I upset you?” Yan Qinglan asked cautiously. As far as she could recall, she hadn’t done anything to provoke Wen Huaxi lately.
Why was she crying like this?
Even though she had always wanted to bully Wen Huaxi until she cried, just to see her adorable teary face, every time she tried, Wen Huaxi would fight back and make her give up.
Seeing it now by accident was a pleasant surprise. Her face looked so much like a flushed peach, she wanted to pinch it.
“You are so annoying. Go away. I don’t want to see you. Stay away from me…” Wen Huaxi cried with exhaustion. She didn’t even have the strength to dodge Yan Qinglan’s hand.
All the energy she had left was just enough to pick up a pillow and throw it at her.
Yan Qinglan caught the pillow and saw something tucked underneath it, a document that looked like a medical report.
Was this the reason Wen Huaxi was crying?
Then why had she yelled at her?
Yan Qinglan narrowed her eyes and reached for the report.
