This Omega Kisses Too Fiercely [Transmigration] - Chapter 12
Sunlight poured into the room, spilling across the large bed. The two figures huddled there were intimate, heads resting close together.
Luo Xinghe had been awake for a while. Watching Lu You sleep so obediently in his arms put him in an excellent mood. He found himself wishing Lu You could always be this well-behaved.
He reached out to brush Lu You’s brow, his fingertips trembling with a tenderness that bordered on reverence, as if he were handling a priceless treasure. Only in moments like these could he get so close. Being able to lie beside Lu You was his ultimate consolation.
As he leaned in, the sweet, intoxicating scent of Baileys Irish Cream wafted over him. His ink-dark eyes, like stones dropped into a deep pool, rippled with intense emotion.
His fingertips slid gently from the brow to the bridge of the nose, tapping it with an unspeakable softness before finally coming to rest at the edge of Lu You’s lips.
Before his “Dark” attributes had fully awakened, he was, after all, an Omega. When his expression softened, he truly possessed a gentle, water-like quality unique to Omegas—an aura an Alpha could never replicate.
Lu You: It’s first thing in the morning. Is all this touching really necessary?
He was in an incredibly awkward position, unsure whether he should pretend to be awake or stay asleep. This version of Luo Xinghe felt like a total departure from his character design. Or maybe he’d just slept too soundly before and hadn’t realized Luo Xinghe usually held him like this, or that they had been rubbing against each other so intimately last night…
Tsk. First thing in the morning and my head is already full of R-rated thoughts.
Recalling what he’d overheard the previous night, his mind was a mess of confusion. Setting aside the fact that he’d been pushed into the water, the plot had barely begun, yet the original Lu You’s parents already knew Luo Xinghe’s true identity. That wasn’t how it was supposed to go.
Furthermore, he hadn’t expected Luo Xinghe to be so calculating. The book hadn’t detailed things this much, nor had it mentioned that the original Lu You’s gender defect was caused by Luo Xinghe’s transformation. Most baffling of all, knowing Luo Xinghe’s identity, Lu You’s parents had still betrothed the two of them. It was as if they were secretly assisting Luo Xinghe, intentionally pushing Lu You toward him, even saying that “love and romance aren’t the priority” and quoting lines about “heaven bestowing a great responsibility upon a man.”
Everyone was keeping him in the dark, treating him like a stepping stone.
Then there was that sentence he’d caught while drifting in the water:
“Lu You, why do you want to go? Why do you want to… leave me? I was wrong. Come back, please, I’m begging you…”
It was Luo Xinghe’s voice.
What did that even mean? He didn’t have a single clue.
This game was getting too hard to play. No, he had to hurry up, provoke Luo Xinghe into darkening, and get back home as fast as possible.
Thinking back to the original novel, Lu You died in his own room. Was this the place?
His heart felt like lead. He didn’t want to die.
Flashbacks of rippling water flickered through his mind, and that extreme, claustrophobic fear of drowning surged in his chest.
Suddenly, he felt a burning pain in his heart. His brows knit together, and he snapped his eyes open, his face turning deathly pale.
Seeing him wake up, Luo Xinghe pulled his hand back with a hint of guilt. Noticing Lu You’s poor complexion, he sat up tensely, reaching out to support him.
“Do you feel unwell somewhere?”
Luo Xinghe was still shaken by how close Lu You had come to drowning the night before, his heart heavy with remorse.
“Did you do that on purpose last night?” Lu You did feel physically uncomfortable, but he swatted Luo Xinghe’s hand away and sat up on his own. Leaning against the headboard, he pointed a finger at Luo Xinghe and launched into his grievances: “The first time the boat rocked, I accidentally splashed water on Song Xi. The second time, you just went ahead and knocked me straight into the water! Can’t you do one thing that actually makes me happy? Instead of hovering around me all day and never doing anything good? I’m annoyed, okay? I’ve really had enough of you!”
As the words left his mouth, even he was stunned. That sudden burst of emotion felt strangely familiar.
Sure enough, Luo Xinghe’s expression soured. Taking the opportunity to fan the flames, Lu You continued: “Is Song Xi okay? If anything happened to him, I’m never forgiving you!”
Luo Xinghe had been genuinely worried that Lu You had caught a cold, but at the mention of Song Xi, his face darkened instantly. He seemed to become shrouded in a gloomy, somber aura. His thin, cold features, no longer masked by tenderness, were now etched with a chilling, detached frostiness.
He sat on the edge of the bed with his eyes half-cast, hiding his gaze.
However, his hands, clenched tightly beneath the duvet, betrayed the sheer hatred born of his jealousy.
“I’m going to talk to my parents again about breaking off the engagement. There’s no point in continuing like this.”
As Lu You finished his speech, he felt his words were a bit cruel, but he had no choice. He had to go back. Besides, he was just a bit player. This was just following the current, pushing the blame onto Luo Xinghe’s future enemy. He wasn’t the protagonist of this script.
After a long silence, Luo Xinghe finally spoke, his voice thick with a sob: “If I stay further away from you, can we… can we not get divorced?”
He looked up at Lu You, his ink-black eyes visibly brimming with moisture, reflecting an unspeakable sorrow.
Lu You: “…”
A big shot is truly a big shot. He’s even using the crying tactic now? Are we really going there?
Luo Xinghe’s handsome face looked fragile with his reddened eyes. Tears pooled but stubbornly refused to fall, making him look heartbreakingly pitiful. He looked so aggrieved, as if Lu You were some heartless scoundrel.
An Omega was an Omega, made of water. Even one with dark attributes still looked like something that needed protecting before they fully awakened.
“…I can stay far away from you, but please, don’t throw me away. Because to me, you are more important than my own life.” Luo Xinghe reached up to cup Lu You’s cheek, his tearful eyes filled with a powerful, raw, and undisguised devotion. It was a truth so naked it felt like he had dissected his own heart.
The love was so humble and pathetic that it was impossible not to feel a twinge of pity.
Lu You’s gaze flickered, his heart conflicted.
He still didn’t understand why the original Lu You had been so cruel to Luo Xinghe. Simply citing a “gender defect” didn’t seem enough to justify such extremes. Moreover, his system, Love-Dodo, kept emphasizing that he had to be cold and heartless, insisting he couldn’t change the main plot.
Did the original Lu You really hate Luo Xinghe’s defect? Or was it just pride? Did he think it was embarrassing to be with an Omega who had no heat cycle and couldn’t conceive?
He suddenly wished he could go back and re-read the book more carefully; surely there were details he’d missed.
Thinking about it now, he didn’t feel like Lu You was the type to be so inexplicably mean. At the start, Lu You wasn’t like that. How could someone kind enough to bring a stranger home be so shallow? And how could someone inspire such unwavering devotion in Luo Xinghe if they were truly trash? It was likely because Lu You had been so good that Luo Xinghe was so smitten. So why did his personality shift so drastically after learning about the defect?
The book hadn’t covered any of that, focusing entirely on Luo Xinghe’s revenge.
Suddenly, a possibility struck him: Could the original Lu You have known that his own heat cycle would be affected by Luo Xinghe, and that’s why he wanted to distance himself?
Is that why Love-Dodo, who knew the plot, insisted he be cold to Luo Xinghe from the start—to prevent him from repeating the same mistakes?
Yes, that had to be it. He couldn’t go changing the plot on a whim or let his heart soften!
Steeling himself, he slapped Luo Xinghe’s hand away and turned his head, his expression void of emotion: “Save it. I don’t like you. You’re a defective Omega—no heat, no kids. I want children; can you give me that? But Song Xi can, can’t he?”
He had to listen to Love-Dodo. Be cold, be heartless, provoke Luo Xinghe into darkening, and then leave. He absolutely could not go soft. He felt the plot was indeed diverging from what he’d read; if he wavered, the whole thing might collapse. He couldn’t mess up the main line this time.
“Children? You want children that badly?” The phrase “defective Omega” pierced Luo Xinghe’s heart. He didn’t even care about the sting on the back of his hand where he’d been slapped. Were children really that important?
Knowing Luo Xinghe couldn’t conceive, Lu You felt emboldened and leaned into the provocation: “Of course. I have a family line to carry on. I’m just that traditional and old-fashioned. If you can’t stand it, go find another man. I have needs, too. Song Xi is my ideal type; we’re a perfect match. Someone like you? You’re just not my cup of tea.”
Inwardly, he added: Actually, your looks are top-tier. You’re exactly my type.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t his world. There was no romance path for him, nor was he allowed one. Love-Dodo was right: he was just a piece of cannon fodder. He wasn’t meant to have the presence of a protagonist. His mission was to make Luo Xinghe “darken” as soon as possible, help deal with Song Xi, and then go home.
“I can find a way.”
Lu You: “!” He stared at Luo Xinghe in shock. What the hell? Find a way? Is that even an option?!
“Whatever you want, I will fight with everything I have to give it to you. Even if it’s the whole world, even if it’s the stars in the sky, even if it’s a child—I can do it.” Luo Xinghe delivered the lines of a devoted idol-drama lead once again: “As long as you can accept me, I’ll do anything.”
Lu You: Damn it, how am I supposed to trigger his darkening like this? He’s completely unfazed by my insults and just gets more devoted. This is going to be tough. I really need Song Xi to help me act out this scene.
“Then show me what you’ve got. I’d love to see just how far you’ll go for me.”
Acting like a heartless jerk who didn’t give a damn about such a passionate confession, Lu You tossed back the duvet and headed for the bathroom.
Inside, however, he was grumbling. This wouldn’t work. Luo Xinghe was too thick-skinned and resilient; he’d probably heard this kind of talk so often he was immune. He had to think of something else.
Luo Xinghe watched Lu You’s retreating back as he walked toward the bathroom. The look of humble pleading vanished, swallowed by a bottomless, dark depth in his eyes. He lowered his head and let out a low, heavy chuckle, lightly rubbing his fingertips as if savoring a lingering sensation.
“Lu You, you really aren’t being obedient at all.”
His voice, a mere murmur, carried an indefinable contradiction. He no longer looked like the pitiful creature from a moment ago; instead, he radiated the calm confidence of someone who had everything under control.
He stood up and walked toward the bathroom.
Well then, a punishment is in order.
