This Alpha Is So Devoted to His Wife - Chapter 78
Two days later, they flew to Continent L to attend an auction.
Garthlock in Continent L was a global leader in art and luxury item auctions. The barrier to entry for the Garthlock Auction Center was extremely high, and only a select few received personal invitations to the auction.
“It looks like we’ll have to spend some money.”
“Maybe you’ll see something you like. If I like it, I’ll bid on it and give it to you.”
The two of them, dressed in matching light brown casual suits, followed the auction house staff through the VIP channel into the venue. Since it wasn’t time for the official auction yet, they were free to view the exhibits inside the hall.
Quite a few people were already viewing the items.
One display case attracted many onlookers.
It was a pear-shaped, rose-pink diamond ring called ‘The Rose Eyes.’ Under the refraction of the display case lights, the diamond radiated its natural brilliance. The pink colored diamond, set with a diamond ring setting, was stunning in color, purity, and design, a rare diamond color.
Duan Yeluo was curious to see what would draw people to look at it and then return for a second look. When he saw it, a hint of admiration flashed in his eyes.
It was indeed a very beautiful diamond ring.
However, he already had a wedding ring.
He then walked toward other display cases to look at different artworks.
He was completely unaware that this one glance had been noted by Lu Xinghe.
Duan Yeluo finished viewing all the art pieces and collectibles slated for auction in the hall, and he also saw quite a few pieces of porcelain that he felt were highly collectible. Remembering that his Great-Grandfather Chu loved to collect, he had a rough idea of what he wanted to bid on later.
The time was drawing near, and the staff led them to the auction room.
“CEO Lu, did you see anything you liked?” Duan Yeluo looked at Lu Xinghe beside him. He noticed the slight wrinkle on his collar and raised his hand to smooth it out. “I’ve noticed something. Why do you always like to wear my glasses?”
His myopia had developed only in the last few years due to work. Fortunately, his prescription wasn’t high, so he only wore them during meetings or when driving during the day. He could go without them when not necessary.
But this Alpha especially loved them, even though they had non-prescription lenses.
Lu Xinghe took his hand naturally, holding it by his side. “I like wearing your things. It makes me feel like you’re right next to me.”
Duan Yeluo smiled without speaking, observing Lu Xinghe wearing the glasses.
He looked every bit the refined scoundrel and noble young master.
He certainly looked very charming.
“Is there anything you want?”
Following the staff’s guidance, they were seated in the VIP room on the second floor of the auction house. This room had a panoramic glass window, and from the leather sofa, they could clearly see the auction floor below. The auction number paddle was lit outside the room, and there was a dedicated staff member to bid for them.
Duan Yeluo sat down, his slightly sore waist leaning against the soft backrest with a hint of relief. Hearing Lu Xinghe’s question, he nodded. “Mhm. I saw a few pieces of porcelain I liked. I want to bid on them to give to Great-Grandfather.”
“What about you?” After Lu Xinghe sat down, he reached his hand behind Duan Yeluo’s waist and gently kneaded it. The high intensity of the past few days must have been tiring. “Didn’t you see anything you liked?”
The rose-colored diamond ring flashed through Duan Yeluo’s mind, but only for a second. He shook his head gently. “No.”
“Really no?” Lu Xinghe asked again.
Duan Yeluo’s waist felt comfortable from the massage, and his eyes relaxed. “Really no. If you want to buy something, go ahead. I won’t stop you.”
And it was because of this sentence that he truly felt, for the first time, how spontaneous Lu Xinghe’s spending could be.
The first item auctioned was a blue-and-white porcelain piece he had looked at. 230 million. Taken.
The second item was an oil painting he had looked at. 80 million. Taken.
The third item was the Moonlight Snow Plum Vase he had looked at. 700 million. Taken.
The fourth item was a pair of black diamond earrings, a rare pure black diamond. 90 million. Lu Xinghe raised the paddle and took it.
Duan Yeluo stopped him here, grabbing Lu Xinghe’s hand and asking in confusion, “What do you want earrings for? Are you giving them away?”
“Can’t we wear them?”
He: “?”
Lu Xinghe leaned back lazily against the chair, naturally holding Duan Yeluo’s hand. He pinched his earlobe with his other hand. “You would look great wearing them.”
He was so fair; they would definitely complement his skin tone.
“What occasion would I have to wear earrings?” Duan Yeluo pulled Lu Xinghe’s hand away from his ear.
“Like now. We can each wear one.”
Duan Yeluo laughed, then suggested, “And change clothes and go to a nightclub?”
“That’s not impossible. No one says you can’t go to a nightclub on your honeymoon.”
“Do you drink?” Duan Yeluo asked.
Lu Xinghe answered truthfully. “I don’t.”
Duan Yeluo smiled without speaking and turned his attention to the next item on display.
The Alpha’s long legs were casually crossed. His arm rested on the back of the sofa, supporting his head as he gazed at his lover’s profile. The sounds of the auction outside the glass continued, but it seemed as if he had automatically filtered out all noise, his eyes fixed only on one person.
“Don’t stare at me.”
Lu Xinghe saw Duan Yeluo’s hand grasping his thigh. He looked at him, his eyes carrying a hint of a reminder. He curved his lips and laughed. “Who else would I look at? Do you want me to look at other people?”
Duan Yeluo felt the Alpha’s gaze was too hot, and such a look made him jump to conclusions. Although he knew Lu Xinghe wouldn’t be so indiscreet in public, he couldn’t help but have ridiculous thoughts.
After all, this guy’s genes carried a more uninhibited side compared to his own.
He leaned in and whispered a warning. “Control your eyes.”
As soon as the words were spoken, Lu Xinghe grabbed his waist and pulled him into his arms.
“What about my eyes?”
They were very close, their eyes locked.
They were legally married now.
They felt even more intimate.
Duan Yeluo looked up into Lu Xinghe’s smiling eyes and raised eyebrow. The gold-rimmed glasses made him look even more like a refined scoundrel; a beast was hidden beneath the facade. Knowing he was deliberately teasing him, Duan Yeluo didn’t want to be a spoilsport and settled back into his arms.
His gaze fell on the auction continuing outside the glass window. He whispered, “My waist hurts. Help me massage it, please.”
Before Lu Xinghe could answer, he looked up at him and added, “Can you, Husband?”
Timely vulnerability was the perfect form of flirting.
Lu Xinghe looked into the light amber eyes, which were bright and smiling. In his eyes, his Omega was more captivating than any expensive jewel at the auction. He knew he had been unable to resist him since they were children.
Especially with an address like that.
The corners of his mouth curved into an uncontrollable smile. His palm covered the segment of the waist he had held countless times, gently rubbing it for him. “Is this pressure alright?”
Duan Yeluo was relieved that the Alpha’s gaze had finally shifted away from his face and was now fixed behind him. He enjoyed the massage comfortably. “Mhm, it’s fine. A little lower.”
The staff member responsible for bidding in front: “…”
They hadn’t done anything overtly scandalous, yet why did the atmosphere feel so suggestive? Legal couples truly made people feel awkward.
“The final item of this auction, ‘The Rose Eyes,’ is a creation by the renowned R-Country jewelry master, Roman Yed, and is his final masterpiece in his career. This pink diamond is extremely rare in both color and purity. It took three years of pure manual work to create, imbuing ‘The Rose Eyes’ diamond ring with the sedimentation of time, just like true love, whose genuine sweetness must withstand the test of time.”
“‘The Rose Eyes,’ starting bid 526 million [currency unit], with each subsequent bid increasing by 20 million. The bidding has begun.”
“Number 6, 546 million.”
Duan Yeluo looked at Lu Xinghe in surprise, his eyes flashing. “Are you buying it?”
Lu Xinghe acknowledged him. “Mhm. Didn’t you like it?”
Duan Yeluo: “When did I say I liked it?”
“You looked at it a few extra times when we entered the hall.”
Duan Yeluo: “…” He patted Lu Xinghe’s thigh helplessly. “I didn’t say I liked it. Don’t waste the money. We already have rings.”
“I’ll buy it for you to alternate wearing.”
…
“Congratulations to Number 6 for winning the final ownership of ‘The Rose Eyes’ for 626 million.”
After the auction ended, they left the room.
The final items they bid on were arranged for air freight back to the country by the auction house.
While leaving the address, Duan Yeluo noticed Lu Xinghe wrote down an address he hadn’t seen before. He only asked about it after they had left the venue.
“Xingxing, where is the address you just filled out?”
Lu Xinghe took the sunglasses from his shirt collar and put them on Duan Yeluo. Hearing the question, he smiled. “Our marital home.” He then walked to the passenger side, opened the car door, and, holding the roof, turned to look at Duan Yeluo.
Duan Yeluo was surprised. “When did you prepare it?”
“Three years ago.” Lu Xinghe helped him into the car first, and seeing he was settled, he leaned over to fasten his seatbelt.
Duan Yeluo leaned back in his seat, his gaze resting on Lu Xinghe’s hands as he fastened the seatbelt. The wedding ring on his ring finger was dazzling. He was about to speak, but Lu Xinghe grabbed the back of his neck and kissed him.
The kisses went from his lips to his neck, tiny and tingling.
And this was in the parking lot.
He couldn’t help but raise his hand to cover Lu Xinghe’s mouth, stopping him from messing around in public. “You can just kiss me. Why do you have to kiss so many different places?” He then pushed Lu Xinghe out, closed the car door, rolled down the window, and gave him a brief look. “Drive.”
Lu Xinghe: “…” He just wanted a kiss, and she pushed him away. He was hurt.
He got into the driver’s seat and closed the door.
Duan Yeluo watched Lu Xinghe fasten his seatbelt. “Why did you buy the house so early and not tell me?”
They were currently living at home. His two Dads had taken his sister Duan Yukui abroad for school, and there was no one else at home. He hadn’t really considered moving out, but he hadn’t expected Lu Xinghe to have prepared this.
And to have planned it so far in advance.
Lu Xinghe put on his sunglasses, steered with one hand, and drove out of the parking lot. Hearing Duan Yeluo’s question, he answered casually, “I’m angry now, so I won’t tell you.”
“Why are you angry? Are you angry I pushed you away?”
“What else? We’re legally married. Can’t I even kiss you once? You pushed me away. Don’t I have any self-respect?”
“I didn’t say you couldn’t, but we need to be careful outside. What if we get photographed?”
“We’re not having an affair. If we get photographed, it proves our love. I’d even watch the footage repeatedly.”
“Lu Xinghe, if you keep talking like that, I’m going to get angry.”
“I was angry before you. If you’re angry now, we’re even.”
The traffic light ahead turned red, and the car slowly stopped.
A brief silence fell in the car.
Duan Yeluo glanced sideways at Lu Xinghe in the driver’s seat during the red light. He saw him resting his arm on the window, his hand supporting his forehead. He wore sunglasses and was expressionless. His defined profile looked cold, and he exuded a low-pressure aura of “Wife won’t kiss me, negotiation failed, discussion over.”
The corners of his mouth couldn’t help but turn up slightly.
His Alpha was quite the spoiled child.
He took off his sunglasses, placed his hand on Lu Xinghe’s thigh, and leaned forward to kiss his cheek.
Lu Xinghe was caught off guard when his thigh was touched. He instinctively grabbed the hand on his leg, and then he felt something soft land on his cheek. He looked ahead—the red light still had thirty seconds. His mouth, which had been determined to stay aloof until the hotel, involuntarily curved into a smile.
“Don’t be angry anymore.” Duan Yeluo leaned closer to his face, hooking his finger under his sunglasses. His tone was persuasive and coaxing. “Okay, Husband?”
Lu Xinghe had intended to stay angry for a little longer, feeling that flirting wouldn’t work, but his mouth answered faster than his brain. “Then I won’t be angry if you kiss me again when we get back to the hotel.”
He then fell silent, annoyed with himself.
So weak.
He was so utterly weak when it came to Duan Yeluo.
Duan Yeluo laughed aloud. “Alright.”
Night fell.
The hotel was located in the golden center of the city, and their room was a top-floor suite. The lights were bright, and the 180-degree floor-to-ceiling windows offered a complete view of the city’s prosperity.
The air was thick with the scent of Alpha and Omega pheromones in arousal, made even more intense by the slight buzz of alcohol.
Not to mention that neither of them were drinkers.
They only drank a little to heighten the mood.
A fair, slender arm, slick with thin sweat, was pinned against the window by a large hand. A faint ‘clink’ sounded as the hand wearing the wedding ring gently tapped the glass, the fingertips trembling slightly.
The tall figure covered his lover from the front, confining him against the floor-to-ceiling window like a wolf king marking his territory, allowing no intrusion or gaze.
“Baby.”
A low, hoarse voice fell from above, sounding like extreme suppression and restraint.
Duan Yeluo listened. A drop of sweat landed on his lips—it was salty. He looked up, directly meeting Lu Xinghe’s deep, ocean-blue eyes. His own image was reflected in them, which were filled with undisguised, scorching desire, as if Lu Xinghe wanted to devour him whole.
The Alpha was sweating profusely, dripping from his brow bone. It was incredibly sexy.
He hadn’t even had time to say a word before his breath was stolen.
They were already pressed together.
The restrained wrist was pushed above his head, and Lu Xinghe’s palm slowly laced with his fingers. His breathing grew ragged, his thoughts were already a mess, and his eyes were slightly red as he could only endure the kissing, retreating step by step.
The Alpha’s sweat dripped onto his cheek, drop after drop, mixed with his hot breath.
The moment he was lifted by the strong arms, Duan Yeluo felt he could only be completely at his mercy.
Until he fell onto the soft, large bed.
The lights weren’t turned off because he was afraid of the dark, allowing him to clearly see the other’s expression.
His scent gland at the back of his neck was filled with the Alpha’s pheromones again and again. He trembled, and Lu Xinghe’s hoarse question sounded in his ear.
“Baby, when do you think our little baby will come?”
He rested his cheek on the pillow, his eyes closed. He touched Lu Xinghe’s firm abdomen with his sweaty hand, his voice heavy with exhaustion. “…Soon. Keep up the good work.”
At 3 a.m., they finally rested.
“I’ll carry you to the bath.”
“…How about we don’t wash yet?”
“You sleep; I’ll carry you to wash.”
“Didn’t you say the chances are higher if we leave it inside?” Duan Yeluo lay on Lu Xinghe’s chest, too tired to open his eyes, his voice laced with sleepiness. “Leave it. We’ll wash in the morning.”
