This Alpha Is So Devoted to His Wife - Chapter 76
Night fell.
“Zai Zai, your Great-Grandfather Chu is preparing to transfer you back to the Group Headquarters. You will formally take over the position of Group CEO next month, and a shareholders’ meeting will be convened then.”
Duan Yeluo stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window in the study, taking the call from his Big Dad. Although the news was not unexpected, he felt immense pressure. He remained silent for a moment, then slid open the window to get some fresh air.
“Big Dad, I’m a little nervous.”
“I know you are. Originally, your Great-Grandfather Chu hadn’t planned for you to take over the headquarters so quickly, but he’s worried that you and Xinghe might decide to stay overseas and not return. He wants to transfer you back as soon as possible. Plus, the Guardian Chip was extremely successful, and he’s also worried about your safety abroad. He wants you to come home.”
“I never planned to stay here with Xingxing. I intended to go back home with him.”
“We understand Xinghe’s situation as well. Your Uncle Clemens also told us that the Queen is not an easy person to deal with, nor is she someone we can manage simply by pulling a few strings. This relationship is sensitive, even though Xinghe is already in the process of formally withdrawing from the Clemens Royal Family. He still has to undergo a royal review in a year before he can completely sever ties. If he returns home, he will probably still be subject to supervision from Country D.”
Duan Yeluo frowned at this. He turned and looked towards the study opposite, where Lu Xinghe was currently holding a meeting. After a moment, his eyes were resolute. “Big Dad, I’m going to marry him as soon as I get back.”
No one could stop him from marrying Lu Xinghe, and no one should stop him from loving Lu Xinghe.
“No one is stopping you from being with Xinghe. Why would we stop you? We’ve watched Xinghe grow up since he was a child, and we see how well he treats you. We just want to remind you that no matter what happens on Country D’s side, you must tell your family immediately. It was Xinghe who told me about the D Kingdom’s royal family attempting to invade the Galaxy network system; you didn’t tell your Dads. Don’t shoulder everything by yourself.”
Duan Yeluo was instantly relieved. He thought Big Dad was going to say something else. “I thought you were worried about me being with Xingxing.”
As his voice trailed off, he felt his shoulders being embraced from behind by a pair of strong arms. A low, smiling voice came from above his head. “Good evening, Big Dad. It’s Xinghe.”
Big Dad on the other end of the phone chuckled. “Good evening, Xinghe. Zai Zai just mentioned you were in a meeting. Are you done?”
Lu Xinghe expertly took the phone from Duan Yeluo’s hand, switched to video call, and enthusiastically waved at Big Dad on the screen. He stood next to Duan Yeluo and chatted with Big Dad as naturally as could be. “Yes, I just finished dealing with a few things. Big Dad, how have you been lately? And how is my Dad?”
“We are all good.”
Duan Yeluo, standing beside them: “…”
Why did he suddenly feel like a secondary character? Why did they seem like the real family?
“Have you thought about when you’ll hold the wedding?”
The two of them were sitting on the balcony sofa, chatting with Big Dad over the video.
Hearing this, Lu Xinghe looked at Duan Yeluo, his expression serious. “Yes, when will you marry me? I’m very anxious. I’m 24 now, and I can only rely on dreaming about my husband marrying me every day.”
Duan Yeluo stifled a laugh and pressed his hand down on Lu Xinghe’s thigh, trying to stop his exaggerated acting. “I said we’d get married once we return home.”
Lu Xinghe pretended to be wronged, holding the phone and complaining to Big Dad. “Big Dad, look. He’s already impatient with me. I just asked, and he used the phrase ‘I said.’ Isn’t he being impatient?”
Duan Yeluo, unable to tolerate it any longer, pinched his thigh. “Big Dad, don’t let him fool you. He’s not urgent at all usually. I haven’t seen any sign that he really wants to get married.”
“Who says I don’t want to get married? It’s clearly you whose eyes are focused on work all day. You don’t love me or look at me anymore.”
“Lu Xinghe, are we getting married or not?” Duan Yeluo was direct.
Seeing that the teasing had gone too far and he shouldn’t actually anger his wife, Lu Xinghe instantly replied, “Yes, absolutely getting married.”
Big Dad on the video call got a headache from the bickering. They had been like this since they were children. He said helplessly, “I know you two will get married. I was just asking what kind of wedding you want so the family can prepare in advance.”
Duan Yeluo leaned back against Lu Xinghe’s arm, thinking, and then glanced at him.
Lu Xinghe held the hand resting on his leg, their ring fingers lightly touching.
The two exchanged a look of mutual understanding, seemingly having grasped each other’s meaning.
For them, marriage was a ceremony, and that ceremony could be simple or extravagant. They cared more about each other. After all, since childhood, apart from one year when they were separated in kindergarten, they had never been apart until now.
Every day, they woke up to each other, and closed their eyes to each other before sleeping. They were always there for each other when needed.
They provided each other with a spiritual and psychological world that was as rich as possible.
“Big Dad, we want to elope and travel for our wedding.”
Big Dad on the video call pondered for a moment and then nodded. “Alright. Your Dads and the family will definitely respect your wishes. After all, it’s your wedding, so you get to decide. If it’s a travel wedding, then our two families will have a family dinner together at the old mansion, Jiangtianyisu, and send you off on your trip the next day. How does that sound?”
Duan Yeluo looked at Lu Xinghe, seeking his opinion.
Lu Xinghe pretended to be a delicate little bird, shrinking his broad shoulders and leaning against Duan Yeluo’s shoulder. He replied obediently, “You are the head of the household. Whatever you say goes. I’ll listen to you.”
Duan Yeluo laughed. He looked back at Big Dad on the video. “Mhm, then that’s our decision.”
After chatting for another while, the father and son talked for about an hour before hanging up the video call.
After hanging up, the two sat on the balcony sofa, their heads leaning against each other, looking at the distant starry night sky.
“Lu Xinghe.”
“Hmm?”
“Before we officially got together, I always felt you were mine.”
“Why did you think that?”
“Because your eyes never left me. That’s why I was a little surprised when you avoided me before. Would you not like me? Why wouldn’t you like me? We were meant to be together. It was just a matter of when we would officially start dating.”
Lu Xinghe rested his chin on Duan Yeluo’s head. Thinking back to before, he laughed and pulled him close. “It seems I overthought things. How could you not like me? After all, I’ve liked you so much since we were little.”
“You really are quite dramatic,” Duan Yeluo laughed, remembering something.
Both of them laughed.
“But I still feel very lucky,” Lu Xinghe said, leaning against him affectionately. “I still remember the first time I saw you. I had just been brought to Huaxia by my parents, and everything was unfamiliar. Especially since I’m half-Chinese, the kids around me might not have been familiar with mixed-race children and thought my blue eyes were strange.”
Duan Yeluo: “Actually, I also thought you were strange back then.” He turned his head to look at Lu Xinghe. “Because you were crying on the slide, and I just wanted to play on that slide. I didn’t want to talk to you at all.”
Lu Xinghe tightened his embrace when he heard this and lowered his head to kiss his face. “Why didn’t you want to talk to me?”
Duan Yeluo was tickled by the kisses that traced from his cheek to his neck. He laughed and dodged. “Because I didn’t want to initiate social interaction. Who knew you’d grab me? And you were so fierce. I was scared of you.”
“You shouldn’t be scared of me.” Lu Xinghe immediately pulled him onto his lap. His large palms grasped the fair calves resting on both sides of his legs, preventing him from moving. He looked up and kissed his jawline, like a beast marking its prey, yet his tone was one of vulnerable pleading.
“I’m not scared of you now.” Duan Yeluo knew the Alpha was showing vulnerability and being coquettish. He cupped Lu Xinghe’s cheeks with both hands, leaned down, and gently kissed his nose. “I love Lu Xinghe the most now.”
As the words left his lips, his lower back was firmly held.
The burning palm pressed directly onto the small of his back. The slightly rough palm and fingertips rubbed against him. A current of electricity surged through him, bringing waves of tingling pleasure, and his waist involuntarily trembled.
Soon, his body was pressed against Lu Xinghe’s broad chest. Lu Xinghe’s other large hand gripped the back of his neck, pushing down, and their lips met.
Their shadows reflected on the ground were draped in moonlight, embracing the most passionate kiss.
They could always instantly capture each other’s most urgent desires and always received immediate feedback from the other. As children, they were the most compatible friends, the most familiar opponents. As adults, they were the most infatuated lovers.
Knowing each other thoroughly, willing to tolerate one another, regardless of strengths or flaws.
They were complementary and shared glory.
They were also the most perfectly matched AO pair.
“Xingxing.”
Duan Yeluo rested on Lu Xinghe’s shoulder, leaning in to whisper in his ear. He was slightly out of breath from the kiss, his voice light, sounding like a flirtatious whisper.
Lu Xinghe’s throat bobbed, hearing the cooing call. “Hmm?”
“Did I ever tell you our compatibility rate?” Duan Yeluo held Lu Xinghe’s hand resting on his waist, letting his hand trace down the curve covered by his trousers.
Lu Xinghe felt his palm instinctively meet the curve. His eyes deepened slightly. He leaned back a little, meeting Duan Yeluo’s eyes, which held undisguised desire—seductive and self-aware. This was the one thing he couldn’t resist.
His Omega knew what he loved most.
They never fussed over what desire was, because they clearly knew that they sought corresponding desires from each other precisely because they deeply loved one another. This feeling only excited him more.
Just as he was about to speak, the other’s gentle voice fell near his ear.
The words that would make him willingly drown in this night.
“What is the rate?”
The light on the balcony was dim, faintly outlining the contours of their tightly pressed faces, adding a layer of nocturnal romance. The Alpha pheromone of Ebony Gin and the Omega pheromone of Rum Rose attempted to merge once more, draining each other.
Duan Yeluo placed his arms on Lu Xinghe’s shoulders, lightly threading his fingers into his hair. He looked down, a hint of deliberate provocation in his expression. He gently circled Lu Xinghe’s head with his forearm and leaned in to whisper:
“Our compatibility rate is 120%. We are the second recorded pair of highly compatible partners globally.”
Lu Xinghe maintained his embrace, his expression unchanged, but the veins on his neck faintly throbbed, like a wild beast lurking, ready to pounce at the signal of its prey.
He met Duan Yeluo’s smiling eyes, his throat tightening. “…Our compatibility is 120%?”
The implications were obvious—it was insane.
…Their compatibility was actually that high.
No wonder he simply couldn’t leave Duan Yeluo. Sometimes, he wished he could merge into the other’s body. And he knew clearly that their love was absolutely not due to high compatibility; rather, they loved first, and then the compatibility made that love even deeper.
Just as he was about to say something, the other’s tender voice fell again.
These words made him willingly drown in the night.
“120% is the compatibility rate to conceive your baby without protection, Lu Xinghe. Do you want it?”
