This Alpha Is So Devoted to His Wife - Chapter 70
Lu Xinghe walked directly toward the lean man’s cubicle, put the lollipop back in his mouth, and leveraged his height and physique advantage to put his hands on the man’s shoulders. He pressed down slightly, forcing him back into his chair, and then bent over to peer at the screen with him.
“Come on, replicate the operation you just performed.”
Lin Qi was forcefully pressed back into his seat by the heavy hands on his shoulders. The tone near his ear was smiling but filled with danger, and the commanding Alpha aura was completely irresistible to him, a Beta. His Adam’s apple bobbed, and his palms resting on his legs began to sweat.
“Your hands need to be up to type on the keyboard.” Lu Xinghe kindly picked up Lin Qi’s hands and placed them on the keyboard, his tone almost coaxing: “Go on, type it out.”
Lin Qi remained silent for a moment, the muscles in his cheeks twitching. He gritted his teeth and said: “This is a secret of our company. Who are you to order me to type like that?”
Lu Xinghe feigned shock. He stood up, looked at Duan Yuluo, and complained while still chewing his lollipop: “He’s being mean to me!”
Duan Yuluo rubbed his forehead.
If he still couldn’t guess who Lu Xinghe was, he would truly be dense.
Honestly, he would never have imagined that Alias J was Lu Xinghe. How could he have possibly thought Lu Xinghe was Alias J? When did this guy become a hacker behind his back? He thought he was just playing games every night in the study.
He composed himself and looked at Lin Qi: “Type.”
Hearing this, sweat began to stream down Lin Qi’s forehead, and his fingertips trembled slightly on the keyboard.
“What’s wrong, why are you sweating so much?” Lu Xinghe, seeing Lin Qi sweat, thoughtfully pulled a tissue to wipe his brow: “Don’t be nervous. I’m just looking at your operation. We’re colleagues; let’s learn from each other.”
The Technical Department Manager also noticed the clues now: “Lin Qi, what’s the matter with you? Young CEO Duan asked you to type, so type!” He then looked at Duan Yuluo: “Young CEO Duan, is this our external aid?”
Duan Yuluo nodded: “Yes.”
Lu Xinghe draped his arms over the back of Lin Qi’s chair. Seeing that the speed at which he was typing code was like a turtle, he asked attentively: “Shaky hands? Is it low blood sugar?”
Lin Qi pressed his lips tightly together; perhaps due to nervousness, his lips were turning pale.
“Fine, I’ll help you.” Without another word, Lu Xinghe moved Lin Qi and his chair to the side. He bent down and began typing furiously on the keyboard.
“Ah! My computer has been—” A programmer realized his computer was being controlled.
Lu Xinghe looked up: “That was me. Stay calm.”
The surprised programmer quietly lowered his head.
In under thirty seconds, all the computer screens in the Technical Department displayed a restoration of the code operation process from Lin Qi’s machine—essentially restoring historical data. Only those with expertise could understand which part of the screen full of code had an issue.
The Technical Department Manager’s face instantly darkened.
Duan Yuluo looked at the large screen. In truth, he didn’t understand the code, but he could gauge Lu Xinghe’s ability from the expressions on every programmer’s face.
Just then, a hand wrapped around his shoulder, and Lu Xinghe leaned in, pointing to a certain line on the screen: “Babe, look. It’s this string of code. This is not the code that should be input for fault repair…”
He listened to Lu Xinghe’s patient explanation next to his ear and glanced sideways at him. He had intended to give him a look, but Lu Xinghe was focused on the screen and didn’t notice his gaze.
The screen’s light and shadow fell on the distinct contours of Lu Xinghe’s face. He looked focused and earnest, his tone professional and steady, and he was explaining the content to him using clear, easily understandable comparisons. This was a side of Lu Xinghe he had never seen before.
Ignoring the lollipop in his mouth and his casually worn shirt.
He looked very professional and exceptionally charming.
After speaking, Lu Xinghe looked at Duan Yuluo, about to ask if he understood, and met the other man’s deep gaze. He guessed what he was thinking and grinned: “Is it true that a man is most handsome when he’s serious?”
Duan Yuluo: “…” He couldn’t be serious for more than three seconds.
Lu Xinghe naturally didn’t dare to tease him further in front of so many subordinates. He put away his expression, walked to the large screen, opened the drawing tool, and drew a circle around the string of code that shouldn’t have been there. He looked at Lin Qi in the corner and asked with a neutral tone:
“Excuse me, why did you input this string of code when everyone else was trying to fix the system?”
Lin Qi felt the back of his shirt stuck to the chair was drenched in sweat. The perspiration on his forehead ran past his eyes. His entire body was rigid, clearly paralyzed by guilt and terror.
Lu Xinghe didn’t wait for him to answer: “I believe everyone had fun playing the ‘bomb game’ I just deployed.”
The programmers: “…” What a freak.
“This is a guard and confrontation bomb game belonging to Haven. The purpose is simple: through drills, we practice for all sudden intrusion events, locating and fixing the fault in the shortest time possible. In the ‘game’ just now, you were infinitely close to the fault source, but someone’s interference stopped you,” Lu Xinghe said.
One programmer couldn’t help but murmur: “I knew it! I thought I had found it, but then it was cut off again!”
Lu Xinghe nodded. He looked at Lin Qi again: “You just said no one could stop such a forceful intrusion in such a short time. All right, don’t move. We’ll do it again. I mean all of you here, except this gentleman. Let’s play again. Take the challenge.”
He then looked at Duan Yuluo, his gaze and tone soft: “Can I borrow a computer?”
To be cold one second and tender the next was truly bewildering.
Duan Yuluo pointed to Lin Qi’s position: “You can use his seat.”
Lu Xinghe smiled and nodded: “Great.” He walked over to Lin Qi. Seeing that he was still sitting motionless, with no intention of moving, Lu Xinghe didn’t even look at him. He bent down, put his hands on the keyboard, and looked up, scanning all the seated programmers: “Don’t be too nervous. I’ll count to three, two, one, and we start.”
The programmers were anything but calm. Just realizing that the attack of that severity was only a game made them break out in a cold sweat.
“Three.”
The programmers placed their hands on their keyboards, waiting intently for the countdown.
Lu Xinghe smiled: “Start.”
The programmers: “!”
The next few minutes were marked by a flurry of keyboard sounds, like a war without smoke.
Compared to the programmers, who looked like warriors going to their doom, the leisurely candy-eating Lu Xinghe looked particularly happy, thoroughly enjoying playing with the dozen or so programmers in the department all by himself.
Hearing the frantic typing sounds, Lu Xinghe gave a gentle reminder: “If you can’t handle it, just tell me, and I’ll pause.”
None of the programmers spoke up. They were all completely focused on locating the fault.
Even though the person creating the fault was right there, this level of intrusion was indeed highly challenging, but that didn’t mean they would give up. After all, if they encountered it once, they might encounter it again.
In five minutes, the Technical Department completed fault location, with the Technical Department Manager taking time to offer technical guidance.
Fifteen minutes later, the fault was repaired, and the server attack was terminated.
All the programmers were sweating profusely.
Lu Xinghe raised an eyebrow at the red warning box that popped up on his screen [Intrusion Failed]. He was somewhat surprised.
“A warning issued in two minutes, fault location completed in five minutes, and fault repair in fifteen minutes. That’s very good for the first time encountering this kind of intrusion game. My requirement for Haven is: a warning issued in one minute, fault location completed in two minutes, and fault repair within eight minutes. Only then can we ensure the fault is located and the intrusion is terminated in the shortest possible time when an actual attack occurs.”
Lu Xinghe looked at Lin Qi: “Would you like to try it yourself?”
Lin Qi stood to the side, his face bloodless, remaining silent. He had thought he could successfully conceal his actions but was now exposed.
“I also found this string of code when I was checking the chip source code that day. Do you need me to pull up the data for you?” Lu Xinghe stood up and walked toward Lin Qi. Seeing that he was already too terrified to speak, and noting that he had no pheromone scent, meaning he was a Beta, he said: “You don’t have much courage, but your hands certainly dare a lot. Do you know what this behavior counts as?”
The Technical Department Manager had the strongest reaction. His face was filled with disappointment: “Lin Qi, you were truly foolish! How much help has Galaxy given you? You were a beneficiary of the Secondary Differentiation Genetic Defect Project! If not for that project, would you even be here now?”
“If not for that project, I wouldn’t have differentiated from an Alpha into a Beta!!!” Lin Qi suddenly glared at Duan Yuluo, trembling all over, his eyes red. He let out a resentful roar: “I’d rather die as an Alpha than be a Beta!! Betas are useless and will be discriminated against!!”
The Alpha programmer nearby immediately stepped forward to restrain the visibly emotional Lin Qi.
Lu Xinghe frowned and walked to Duan Yuluo’s side, intending to stand in front of him, but was unexpectedly pulled by the hand. He saw Duan Yuluo stand beside him, his expression calm, seemingly unmoved by the scene and showing no fear.
“Who discriminated against you?” Duan Yuluo’s tone was steady and composed. He met Lin Qi’s eyes, which were full of hatred: “You are discriminating against yourself.”
Lin Qi tried to struggle free from the Alpha restraining him. Upon realizing he couldn’t break free, his composure completely collapsed: “See!! When I was an Alpha, I could easily break free from an Alpha. Now as a Beta, I don’t have that strength! How can I even respect myself like this!”
Lu Xinghe was speechless and remarked mercilessly: “Is this still the Stone Age? Do you need to hunt or fight when you go out? What is more important, being alive or the status of an Alpha? If the Secondary Differentiation Project hadn’t been created, would you even be standing here arguing with your leader at Galaxy?”
Duan Yuluo saw that Lin Qi was still in a state of impotent rage. This involved the theft of core group secrets. Not wanting to waste any more words, he turned to the secretary: “Did you call the police?”
The secretary nodded: “I’ve already called them.”
The moment the words left his mouth, the police appeared at the door.
The police came straight to the point, stating their reason for being there, and then quickly handcuffed Lin Qi and took him away. The process was swift and efficient, without any unnecessary chatter. Lin Qi continued to struggle and roar impotently on his way out, making a final struggle and outburst.
Duan Yuluo asked the secretary nearby to follow up on the matter. This marked a breakthrough in the case.
Soon, the Technical Department quieted down.
In truth, everyone was still recovering from the highly tense state of the last few minutes. Only at this moment did they realize what had happened, including the fact that a commercial spy had been arrested from their department. Their minds were now clearing up all the tricky issues they had encountered recently.
It was all because a seemingly low-key, taciturn spy had infiltrated the Technical Department, sabotaging every intrusion. His motive was self-evident: to prevent the launch of the Guardian Chip.
This was a strong act of emotional retaliation, an attempt to vent his dissatisfaction over unexpectedly undergoing secondary differentiation from an Alpha to a Beta.
Such an incident was chilling, as someone who could infiltrate the Technical Department could potentially be someone close to the boss next.
Duan Yuluo, however, seemed calm. His gaze fell on Lu Xinghe standing beside him. Seeing a hint of worry in Lu Xinghe’s eyes, he smiled: “That was very impressive.”
He was genuinely surprised that Lu Xinghe was Alias J. Linking that to their conversations and mannerisms over the past few days, he finally understood why the way he spoke sometimes felt familiar. His heart was now filled with this surprising joy.
Honestly, he was delighted and astonished by Lu Xinghe’s performance in saving him during an emergency.
Lu Xinghe was worried, but hearing his husband’s praise naturally made his heart blossom. He raised the corners of his lips and cleared his throat: “It was nothing, just showing off a little. A small skill, really.”
“You are… Alias J, right?”
Lu Xinghe didn’t conceal it when he heard the question, admitting freely: “Yes, I am Alias J.”
“Really?!”
The programmers of the entire Technical Department stood up in excitement, staring at Lu Xinghe as if they were seeing a giant chicken drumstick, their eyes shining, some even excitedly gripping the programmer next to them.
Duan Yuluo watched his programmers cheering like this. From their voices, he knew what Alias J meant to this group of people; he was clearly a near-godlike figure.
He felt a pride he couldn’t express.
Because the person who was a godlike figure in the hearts of others was his Alpha.
“If your Young CEO Duan agrees, I can come over to Galaxy,” Lu Xinghe pointed to the most dazzling office building outside the window: “I’m pretty bored working over there anyway.”
Duan Yuluo realized the looks the Technical Department programmers were giving him, as if they would be drowned in disappointment if he didn’t agree. He smiled helplessly: “He is my Alpha mate. He can come whenever he wants. Don’t let him fool you.”
The programmers in the Technical Department were dumbfounded.
This…
This!!!
Lu Xinghe felt a rush of pleasure at being acknowledged as his Alpha mate in front of so many people and acted a little shyly, patting Duan Yuluo’s shoulder: “Be humble, be humble.”
Duan Yuluo shot him a look: “Just be normal.”
He had never seen this guy act so frivolous normally.
…
An hour later, the two finally left the Technical Department. Alias J would now occasionally come to Galaxy as a technical advisor to supervise.
The door to the top-floor CEO’s office was pushed open, then quickly shut.
Duan Yuluo immediately tugged at Lu Xinghe’s shirt, forcefully pinning the man against the back of the door, looking at him with a half-smile: “Alias J?”
Lu Xinghe raised both arms, looking completely innocent: “Babe, I didn’t mean to trick you.”
“Reason.”
“Ever since you so seriously threw your ID card at me, I couldn’t help but want to tease you. Who throws their ID card at someone during an online chat? Someone that cute definitely begs to be teased.” Lu Xinghe’s gaze was sincere: “I was wrong, babe.”
He thought that teasing Duan Yuluo like this would earn him a scolding. Instead, his collar was yanked, and soft lips met his.
Only the dim orange spotlights were on in the office, casting a glow on the two figures embracing, like a beautiful, hidden painting within the shadows.
A moment later, the shadows moved, shifting toward the desk.
Some non-essential files on the desk were swept aside.
Duan Yuluo was placed onto the office desk. His gaze calmly swept over the strong arms braced beside his legs, then slowly moved upward, past the partially open collar of the other man’s shirt, where he could vaguely sense the muscle definition hidden beneath the fabric.
Finally, his eyes met the deep, fervent gaze that had been fixed on him.
“Babe, is this a reward for me?”
He caught the restrained expectation in Lu Xinghe’s words, lowered his head, and chuckled. He took off his glasses and set them aside, then ran his hand along the other man’s collar, his fingertips touching his neck, then exploring the back of his neck. Finally, both hands climbed to the back of his neck, pulling his head down.
The distance between the two was reduced to mere lip space.
He leaned forward, bit Lu Xinghe’s lower lip, slightly raised his eyelids, his eyes full of a smile, and whispered: “All right, I’ll reward you.”
“Here?”
“Here.”
