This Alpha Is So Devoted to His Wife - Chapter 3
And so, even before officially starting kindergarten, Duan Yu Luo made a good friend in Lu Xing He.
The two kids, who couldn’t understand each other and talked like a chicken and a duck, happily went home together.
That’s right, they went to Lu Xing He’s home.
When his dads put him in Lu Xing He’s dad’s car, Duan Yu Luo didn’t feel anything was wrong. All he wanted to do was play. After getting in the car, he even opened the window, waved to his dads and brother, and said a sweet “bye-bye.”
“Bye-bye~”
The car slowly drove away from the school gate.
His older brother, worried, looked up at his dads. “Dad, why did you let my brother go to his house? That’s so dangerous.”
“Yes, why do you think so?” The dad, Luo Song Ran, rubbed his older son’s head, watching the car drive away. “You know it’s dangerous, but your brother doesn’t. He takes candy and a hat from a stranger and goes home with him. Isn’t he silly?”
The older brother clearly didn’t get what his dad meant. He wrinkled his little brow, looking worriedly in the direction the car left. “If my brother is that silly, why would you let him go? I want my brother back.”
“When he cries and can’t find us, he’ll learn not to accept things or favors from strangers.”
The older brother’s eyes widened. “Is my brother in danger?!”
The dad shrugged. “You’ll have to ask your dad if that man is safe. This was his brilliant idea.”
The older brother looked curiously at his other dad.
Then, he saw his dad, Duan Yi Zhou, press his husband’s head down. “Your dad was just as careless when he was little. Now it’s your brother’s turn to learn. Don’t worry, that man is my good friend’s brother. Your brother won’t be in danger. Let’s see when he cries. He’ll get scared quickly when he can’t find us.”
Duan Yu Luo, who was fully engrossed in singing “The Miracle Has Appeared” with hand gestures, had no idea he was about to face a test of his safety awareness.
From the back seat of the car, a cute, off-key song with a lot of emotion could be heard.
“A new storm has appeared~ How can we stop moving forward~”
Duan Yu Luo was in his car seat in the back, and even the seatbelt couldn’t stop his love for this song. He was off-key and even pulled Lu Xing He to join him.
Lu Xing He’s hand was held by Duan Yu Luo. As an Ultraman fan, he had, of course, heard the Chinese version of the theme song, but he stared blankly at the little doll. He was even more captivated by him than the song.
Just now, his dad had whispered to him that this little darling doesn’t know how to protect himself. He takes candy and a hat from a stranger and goes home with them, which is very dangerous. He could easily be kidnapped by a bad person.
He also realized he was probably that bad guy, but he just wanted to give him his favorite things and invite him home.
But what if another person lured this pretty little doll away like this?
That would not be okay.
It’s only okay if he’s the one who takes him.
“Why aren’t you singing?” Duan Yu Luo stops singing when he gets stuck. He sees Lu Xing He staring at him. “Do I sing well?”
Lu Xing He’s attention returns when he hears him speak. He thinks he’s being asked if he can sing. With his limited Chinese vocabulary, he answers awkwardly, “I… uh, not good.”
“Huh?” Duan Yu Luo’s face immediately falls. He pouts and hugs his arms, a little upset. He then asks Lu Xing He’s dad in frustration, “Sir, do I not sing well?”
Lu Xing He sees the little doll is unhappy again. Did he say something wrong?
Clemens, who is driving, doesn’t mind the commotion. He looks at his confused son in the rearview mirror, thinking, Now he’ll be motivated to learn Chinese. He laughs. “It was wonderful.”
He then translates it for his son in English.
Lu Xing He hears his dad’s translation and finally understands what Duan Yu Luo asked. He quickly explains, “You have a beautiful voice!”
Duan Yu Luo doesn’t understand what Lu Xing He is saying. He lowers his head, swings his feet, and mutters, “I sing so well, but he says I don’t. I’m so angry, and he says things I don’t understand. I want to go home now…”
“Zearth, Tiga, Dyna, Gaia, Agul, Cosmos, Justice, Legend, Nexus, Noa.”
Duan Yu Luo: “?” He looks at Lu Xing He in a daze.
Lu Xing He continues to list them. “Zoffy, Ultraman, Seven, Jack, Ace, Taro, Leo, 80, King, Astra, Julian, Great, Powered.”
Duan Yu Luo’s eyes widen, getting brighter and brighter.
Lu Xing He continues: “Neos, Seven 21, Max, Xenon, Mebius, Hikari, Zero…”
In just under two minutes, Lu Xing He recites all 68 of the Ultraman series names in Chinese. His mom had taught him this to get him interested in learning Chinese.
This is the only Chinese he can speak fluently: the names of all 68 Ultramen.
He watches the beautiful little doll’s gaze grow more and more adoring. He doesn’t look like he’s going to cry anymore, so he must have coaxed him successfully. In this moment, his desire to learn Chinese reaches its peak. He regrets not studying Chinese properly with his mom in Germany.
Duan Yu Luo is so mesmerized by all the names that he no longer cares if he sings well or not or if he wants to go home. He excitedly clenches his little fists until Lu Xing He finishes reciting all the Ultramen.
“WOWWW!”
A cute, surprised gasp echoes in the car.
“Do you know how many Ultraman?” Lu Xing He asks with a smile, happy that he’s cheerful.
“Sixty-eight Ultraman!!!” Duan Yu Luo gets excited and claps his hands wildly. He reaches out to Lu Xing He. “Teach me, teach me, teach me! I want to learn too~”
His friend can recite all 68 Ultraman names! He can tell!
This is their first conversation without any barriers.
What kindergarten boy could resist the charm of Ultraman, let alone a boy who can recite all of them?
Lu Xing He sees Duan Yu Luo reach out to him with open arms, pouting as if he wants a hug. So, is he complimenting him? He thinks he did a good job reciting them? He feels a little shy but leans over and opens his arms to hug his little doll.
Sure enough, his little doll is sweet from the candy. He’s so small that he really feels like a little doll to hug.
He can’t help but smile happily.
“I don’t need a hug.” Duan Yu Luo is hugged before he can put his hands down. He looks confused.
Lu Xing He thinks he wants him to hug him tighter, so he hugs him even tighter. Mmm, the little doll is so cute.
“Ouch!” Duan Yu Luo’s face scrunches up from the tight hug. He looks at Clemens, who’s driving, for help. “Sir, help me!”
Clemens has been watching his son, who’s usually a perfect gentleman in Germany, hug the boy so tightly. He holds back a laugh. “Bennett, that’s not very gentlemanly.”
The children are young and haven’t differentiated their genders yet, but Lu Xing He’s upbringing included being a gentleman to both boys and girls. However, it’s clear this boy has forgotten all his German manners after meeting the little doll.
Lu Xing He hears Duan Yu Luo’s voice from inside his arms and lets go. He sees the other boy’s face is flushed like an apple and he looks a little upset. He scratches the back of his head sheepishly. “Zai Zai, sorry.”
“I told you my name is Zai Zai, not Zai Zai!” Duan Yu Luo doesn’t really care about the tight hug, but he is a little bothered that Lu Xing He calls him “Zai Zai.” He holds up one finger and seriously corrects him: “It’s Zai~ Zai.”
“Okay, Zai Zai.” Lu Xing He seriously tries to learn.
Duan Yu Luo’s expression is a bit conflicted when he hears him call him “Zai Zai” again. Then, he seems to have an idea, and his eyes light up. He claps his hands. “I know! I can teach you how to speak Mandarin, and then you can teach me how to say the names of the other Ultramen in English, okay?”
Lu Xing He doesn’t understand the long sentence. He calls out “Dad” for help.
Clemens translates for his son and suggests that he really needs to study Chinese because he won’t even understand what his little crush is saying. “What a shame it would be if you didn’t express your feelings to your crush in time, especially if you’re their crush too.”
He then glances at the rearview mirror to see his son’s reaction.
“Okay.” Lu Xing He is still staring at Duan Yu Luo.
Duan Yu Luo hears the broken “okay” and laughs, falling back into his seat. He doesn’t even try to pull his hand away, which is still being held.
Lu Xing He watches the little doll laugh uncontrollably, holding his hand the entire time, afraid he’ll fall, even though his seatbelt is securely fastened. His dad told him earlier that the little doll isn’t safety-conscious and could get hurt if he falls.
So, he holds his little hand and doesn’t let go from beginning to end.
The little darling is so nervous.
Clemens smiles and turns his gaze away. As expected, this adorable little doll is able to crack open his son’s shy shell.
Children’s relationships warm up quickly. After playing together for a while in kindergarten and communicating with body language in the car, they become so close that they hold hands, and not even two car seats can stop their friendship.
The car slowly enters the estate.
The security guard in his crisp uniform stands at the guard post and salutes when he sees the familiar car enter.
The vast estate has the geographical advantage of being near a mountain and a river. It has a 360-degree view of the sea and lush greenery. The road from the main gate to the villas is lined with towering trees that form a canopy, and through the gaps, you can see the distant sea.
“Wow…” Duan Yu Luo presses his face against the window, marveling at the estate. He then looks at Lu Xing He and makes a sincere invitation. “Your house is so big. My house is big, too. Do you want to come over?”
Lu Xing He listens carefully. When he hears his dad’s verbal cues, his eyes brighten. But he maintains his composure. He needs to keep up his manners and not look like he’s desperate to go. Being too eager can be rude.
Just when Clemens thinks his always-polite and reserved son is about to decline, he hears his son’s serious and formal voice:
“Yes, I do.”
Clemens looks in the rearview mirror and sees his son caressing the half-dinosaur tail next to him, with fluff flying everywhere. He’s treasuring it immensely.
Oh, my.
