- Chapter 71 - Tormenting Someone Until They Beg in Vain
Qin Yan pinned her down on the sofa, tormenting her continuously for several hours. The chaos left more than half the sofa in disarray before she finally paused.
She carried her into the bathroom for a quick wash. When she came back, the person in her arms was already drowsy, eyes closed.
The crimson satin sheets highlighted the clean, snow-white body, translucent like jade.
The little fox, already unconscious, had her eyes tightly shut, and her expression was somewhat restless.
Qin Yan leaned down, brushed aside the hair sticking to her cheek, and gently kissed the red heart-shaped birthmark behind her ear.
The conversation she had overheard during the day replayed in her mind:
[“Hey, can you see where you’re going? Just bump into someone to show what you mean! Xia Mingtang?”]
[“Ji Xianglan, what are you doing here?”]
[“Shouldn’t I be asking you first? Why are you here so abruptly?”]
[“Touring my alma mater.”]
[“Then I’m the same. I guess that means you can call me senior now.”]
…
The rest was just casual small talk, but hearing it made Qin Yan furious.
If there was anyone she disliked most among those connected to Xia Mingtang, it was:
-
- Second place: Senior Anran
-
- First place: Former fiancée Ji Xianglan
She had worked hard to get rid of a “senior,” and now her former fiancée appeared unexpectedly, stacking on top of that “buff.”
Her rational mind told her it was nothing—just a coincidental meeting—but the more she thought about it, the angrier she became!
Rationality was knocked aside, replaced by a frenzied roar.
She didn’t want anyone else touching her wife; she wished she could be the only one in her world.
This loss of control reached its peak when their skin pressed together.
Regardless of place or time, she tormented her until she begged in vain.
Those two days of warmth and harmony they had struggled to achieve were wiped away in one moment.
There was no regret—just the concern that it might be difficult to soothe her when she woke.
Qin Yan lay on the bed, holding her close, thinking about how she would make amends during the day, when the person in her arms slowly stirred awake.
“Awake? Do you feel unwell anywhere?” The post-incident Qin Yan was always gentle and caring, completely different from her earlier frenzied self.
Xia Mingtang shifted slightly to get more comfortable, staring at the gentle face close to hers for several seconds.
“Thirsty… want water.” After a pause, she realized her voice was a little hoarse.
“All right, coming.” Qin Yan kissed her lips and hurried to the kitchen.
The servants had already gone to rest at this hour. Heating water took some time, so she grabbed a bottle of Veen mineral water as quickly as possible.
Returning to the master bedroom, the person on the bed remained in almost the exact same position, seemingly unmoving.
Qin Yan approached with the water, teasingly pressing the bottle to her face.
Seeing her, Xia Mingtang sat up, and the thin sheet slid down, revealing her pale skin illuminated in the night.
She grabbed the sheet and wrapped herself like a cocoon.
The mischievous Qin Yan, one arm holding her close, the other hand holding the water bottle, fed her like a baby.
The cool, pure water soothed the discomfort from her overused voice.
“Cough… cough cough!”
She drank hastily, coughing a few times.
“Slow down, slow down. I’ll pat your back.” Qin Yan took the bottle and carefully rubbed her back, trying to release her trapped breath.
Throughout the process, she was extremely cautious, waiting to see if the little lady would get upset.
But the usually spoiled little fox seemed half-asleep.
After finally calming her breath, she glanced at Qin Yan with teary eyes and fell back onto the bed with a soft “plop.”
Watching her half-opened eyes, Qin Yan wasn’t sure if she was still awake.
She placed most of the water bottle on the bedside and leaned down to kiss her lips.
With eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings, the resting little one neither resisted nor responded.
Was she angry, or not?
“Tangtang,” Qin Yan tried calling softly, thinking if she didn’t respond, she must be silently sulking.
“Mm.”
She acknowledged, but with only one word.
Qin Yan was about to say more when the usually silent one spoke first:
“You said you plan to go to Tonicas to unwind.”
“Yes. Are you willing?” Qin Yan was pleasantly surprised that she brought it up herself.
“All right, but I don’t want to fly. I want to go by cruise ship. Is that okay?” Xia Mingtang’s voice was softer than usual, probably from overusing it earlier.
“No problem.” Qin Yan agreed enthusiastically, eager to kiss her little wife more.
Xia Mingtang turned her back and closed her eyes immediately.
The next day, Xia Mingtang had barely arrived at the company when Qin Yan’s recommended professional manager, Lin Xun, reported for duty.
Her résumé was impressive: a Master’s in Management from K University, with experience in two Fortune 500 companies.
In comparison, Xia Mingtang’s small company felt modest.
But thinking of how Anran had been forced out, Xia Mingtang accepted talent without hesitation.
In just half an hour, Lin Xun demonstrated mature management concepts.
Xia Mingtang dared not speak much, afraid of revealing her own level as the CEO.
With such a person in charge, the company could run smoothly even if she stepped away.
She was very satisfied, but at the moment…
“Welcome to Star Advertising. Let’s skip the formalities. There’s an important client in Jiangcheng. Can you handle it?”
“No problem.” Lin Xun was action-oriented, and within half an hour, she had all the materials and was on her way.
Watching the Audi drive away, assistant Xiao Xin couldn’t help but comment:
“Manager Lin really acts decisively. But Miss Xia, she’s only been here a day. Shouldn’t she familiarize herself with the company first before going on a trip?”
“No need.” Xia Mingtang watched the car disappear before instructing Xiao Xin:
“Complete Lin’s onboarding paperwork later. But there’s something more important right now.”
Xiao Xin immediately took out her phone, alert.
Xia Mingtang pointed toward her office:
“There’s a necklace on my desk. Wear it and work at my desk all day.
“You can move around nearby, but cannot speak to anyone, nor allow anyone to speak to you.
“At the end of the day, return the necklace to its place before leaving.”
Xiao Xin hesitated.
“Miss Xia, what am I supposed to do in your office?”
As her assistant, she usually ran around more than she sat at a desk.
“Do whatever you like—type, play games—but remember, wear the necklace all day and don’t talk to anyone.”
After emphasizing it again, Xia Mingtang went to the garage.
On Xiao Xin’s third day of “paid idling” in Xia Mingtang’s office, Lin Xun returned with the signed contract from Jiangcheng.
Xia Mingtang praised her efficiency and had Xiao Xin escort her to the manager’s office.
Lin Xun was knowledgeable, talented, and courteous.
But Xiao Xin secretly preferred it when she was away on assignments, giving herself the chance to slack in the boss’s office.
Life passed in a leisurely manner until the day Qin Yan and Xia Mingtang planned to go on a yacht trip.
Qin Yan originally intended a private yacht for more intimate time at sea, but Xia Mingtang wanted to see an exhibition on the Casaran yacht, so they opted for a commercial vessel.
On the Casaran yacht, navigating the vast sea, its 180-meter length offered ample space.
In addition to the top-level exhibition hall, there were multiple cabins, a gym, and entertainment rooms.
Although many visitors were aboard, each had ample private space.
Xia Mingtang stood on the deck, feeling the sea breeze, her gaze drawn to the vast ocean.
The yacht sailed steadily, with many couples enjoying the view.
Qin Yan came beside her, leaning on the railing, gazing at the sea as well.
The vast waters seemed endless, with sunlight reflecting off the waves in shades from emerald to deep blue.
“I think this is only my second long-distance trip by water,” Qin Yan remarked.
“Yes? And the first time?” Xia Mingtang replied courteously.
“When I left Rongcheng for M country sixteen years ago, it was also by water.
“But it wasn’t such a large yacht, just a small boat. It rocked constantly, feeling like it could be swallowed by the sea at any moment.”
Qin Yan wasn’t trying to sound pitiful, just reminiscing.
Xia Mingtang didn’t press further, thinking of the family struggles Qin Yan had endured.
She gently patted the hand resting on the railing.
“It’s all past now. You’re strong, and no one can bully you anymore.”
Qin Yan held her small hand, looking up at the sky.
“Yes. It’s all past. I’m no longer the same as before. I will fight for everything I want.”
“Ow~”
She had squeezed Xia Mingtang’s hand too hard in her excitement, realizing it when she cried out. Qin Yan quickly cupped her hands to blow on it.
Seeing Qin Yan’s nervous expression, Xia Mingtang relaxed.
“All right, it’s fine.”
She tried to withdraw her hand, but Qin Yan held it, bringing it to her lips.
“Tangtang, you know… six months ago, I felt the world owed me a lot, like my desires would never be satisfied.
“But now, I feel truly happy, because I already have what I want most, the most precious thing.”
Looking into her eyes, dark but softened by the sunlight, Xia Mingtang felt an inexplicable tug in her heart.
