- Chapter 43 - Caught by Qin Yan’s Tongue, Spine Tingling
At this moment, Xia Mingtang deeply realized what it meant by “your innocence and my innocence seem to be different.” Perhaps in Qin Yan’s dictionary, if a person didn’t faint on the spot, it was considered “very innocent.”
A shower had left both of them sweating quite a bit, and after some time, they finally stepped out of the bathroom together.
Xia Mingtang sat at the dining table, using a knife to carve a big “X” into her sandwich. Her calves were still tingling slightly from earlier.
Qin Yan held a cup of herbal tea, but her gaze never left Xia Mingtang’s movements.
“Is the sandwich too big?”
Aunt Zhou immediately promised that next time the breakfast chef would make smaller portions.
“No, it’s the perfect size,” Xia Mingtang shook her head. She was simply taking out some frustration on the sandwich.
After saying that, she took a big bite.
Seeing that Xia Mingtang’s expression remained unaffected, Qin Yan finally relaxed a little.
She pushed some of the other snacks that Xia Mingtang liked closer, taking on the role of a “salesperson.”
“Try these too. They’re all made according to your taste.”
Back in Yun Town, Xia Mingtang used to have a good appetite and was easy to feed.
Now, it wasn’t the same. She glanced at her phone to check the time and gobbled down the sandwich.
“I won’t eat more, I need to go to the office.”
All because this guy had delayed them in the bathroom for so long.
As the head of an advertising company, Xia Mingtang normally didn’t need to clock in on time.
But now that she was married, she couldn’t let anyone think she’d forgotten her career.
She not only had to go to work but also had to appear more diligent than before.
This way, if Qin Yan tried to cling to her like last night, she would have a legitimate reason to refuse.
She really was a clever little fox!
Qin Yan silently looked at her, not saying a word to stop her from pursuing her career, and said,
“Why don’t you eat it in the car? I’ll drive you there.”
Xia Mingtang was about to decline, but then she remembered her car hadn’t arrived yet. Walking out of the villa area wasn’t an option.
So she nodded. “Fine.”
For the sake of the Rolls-Royce’s rear seats, she gave him one more chance to be her chauffeur.
They changed clothes, and Qin Yan carried the packed breakfast to the garage.
By now, Xia Mingtang was familiar with the routine and didn’t wait to be invited—she got into the passenger seat and buckled up obediently.
Qin Yan silently pinched his fingers, lamenting the lost opportunity to help his wife fasten her seatbelt.
The car drove out of the villa area and stopped at a traffic light.
Qin Yan glanced at the countdown and subtly looked at the little fox still enjoying her milkshake.
Her tender pink lips were smeared with a ring of creamy milk, and as her little tongue licked in and out, some of it was gone while the rest melted more diffusely.
Qin Yan’s gaze darkened slightly as he swallowed.
Xia Mingtang noticed and assumed he was craving some herself.
So, mischievously, she waved the milkshake in front of his eyes without offering a sip.
She deliberately took a big sip in front of him, smacking her lips to show how delicious it was.
Qin Yan’s eyes darkened further, tinged with a hint of grievance.
Xia Mingtang was pleased with herself, feeling a sense of revenge accomplished.
She ignored his gaze, pointing at the traffic light. “Stop staring, it’s about to turn green.”
The car moved again, and without breaking traffic rules, Qin Yan sped up, showing off his driving skills until they arrived at Xia Mingtang’s office.
Once stopped, Qin Yan took a handkerchief and wiped the milk residue from the little fox’s lips.
Xia Mingtang had already cleaned herself fairly well, leaving only a faint white mark above her lips, barely noticeable unless looked at closely.
Qin Yan meticulously cleaned it for a while, making her already moist lips look even more delicate.
Xia Mingtang was grateful she hadn’t put on lipstick today, or else Qin Yan would have wiped that off too.
“Done yet?” she pouted, impatiently urging.
Qin Yan put the handkerchief away but didn’t step back. “Come back early tonight. I’ll have your favorite squirrel mandarin fish ready.”
Their proximity, with warm breath near her ear, made Xia Mingtang feel ticklish.
She scratched her ear, noncommittally. “We’ll see. Depends on whether I’m busy tonight.”
“After work, you’re coming straight home,” Qin Yan said, giving her no chance to refuse, and captured her lips again.
Xia Mingtang was caught off guard, bracing herself on the seat, almost losing balance.
Almost simultaneously, Qin Yan hooked her waist with one hand and held the back of her head with the other, deepening the kiss.
Xia Mingtang momentarily lost herself, glimpsing the outside crowd and wanting to tell him to stop.
But Qin Yan took the opportunity to catch her tongue, sending shivers down her spine.
A minute later, the scorching “goodbye kiss” ended.
This time, Qin Yan restrained himself—just a kiss, nothing else.
Yet even so, Xia Mingtang’s eyes welled up with physiological tears, and her once-pink lips looked slightly swollen.
Regaining her freedom, Xia Mingtang grabbed her bag and nearly ran out of the Rolls-Royce’s rear seat.
Even in that minute, several passersby had glanced over.
Rushing into the company, Xia Mingtang cursed him in her heart.
Bastard! In public, and in a convertible!
“Good morning, Ms. Xia.”
“Good morning, Ms. Xia.”
“Good morning, Ms. Xia.”
…
Xia Mingtang rushed into the building. Employees greeted her as she passed.
Perhaps it was her imagination, but she felt that everyone had a slightly flirtatious look on their faces.
She took the elevator to the sixteenth floor and saw An Ran getting water in the lounge.
An Ran was holding a coffee cup, somewhat distracted, almost spilling it without noticing.
“Senior?” Xia Mingtang hurried over and turned off the water.
An Ran looked up, snapped back to attention, took a sip, and smiled gently. “Tang Tang.”
“What’s wrong? Too busy lately? Do you want a couple of days off?” Xia Mingtang sincerely asked.
“No, I was just lost in thought for a moment,” An Ran said, finally asking, “She… treats you well, right?”
Xia Mingtang took three seconds to figure out that “she” referred to Qin Yan.
The frustration she had suppressed surged back.
Not at all good! She had barely slept all night! And in broad daylight, she’d lost all her boss-like dignity at the office entrance!
She wanted to complain but didn’t want An Ran to worry, so she replied, “It’s… fine.”
Aside from being a little perverted, clingy, shameless, and annoying, no major problems for now.
An Ran smiled. “That’s good. You two… seem really in love.”
Her gaze fell on Xia Mingtang’s neck.
Xia Mingtang felt strange, took out her small mirror, and saw a shockingly red mark on her fair, delicate skin.
Like a little devil’s tail, it was flaunting itself.
Damn it! That guy even left a mark on my neck!
No wonder everyone she passed seemed flirtatious.
“Senior, I need to get to work.” Embarrassed, Xia Mingtang hurried into the CEO office.
She grabbed the phone and dialed the “bastard”’s number, letting him have it over the phone.
Qin Yan had just arrived at the company. Hearing her scolding, he could easily picture her little fox expression, fur bristling with anger.
A tender smile appeared on his face as he quietly listened to her outburst.
Xin Yan had only recently established her base in Rong City, but many employees had been with her in the U.S. for years.
Seeing the usually calm and rational CEO looking indulgent and joyful made them think: the CEO and his wife really are in love, starting the day with a phone chat.
After venting her anger at Qin Yan, Xia Mingtang began her work.
The investor issues had temporarily eased, and the company had received several new projects: promotion for newly launched electronic products, support for rising young celebrities, even collaborations with domestic animations.
Although not huge, these projects were enough to keep her busy.
With the goal of earning her pocket money freely, she could eventually divorce and achieve personal freedom!
With a clear goal, Xia Mingtang was motivated, sitting at the computer for hours, even having lunch in the company cafeteria.
Before long, it was time to leave. Xia Mingtang didn’t mind working hard, but never overtime.
She checked the time, closed the computer, and headed to the garage.
During the day, she had already asked the driver to bring her beloved Pagani to the company garage.
Just as she got in, she received a call from Shi Shi.
“Xia Miss, is married life treating you well?”
Her tone sounded sarcastic, not genuinely concerned.
Xia Mingtang, one hand on the seatbelt, replied lazily, “If there’s business, speak. If not, goodbye.”
“Of course there’s business. Today is Xiao You’s birthday. You didn’t forget, did you, you inhuman person?”
Xiao You was Xia Mingtang’s college roommate with Shi Shi. They’d kept in touch online after graduation.
She had returned from abroad in the past two months. Xia Mingtang had been busy with exile in Yun Town, the acquisition of Ji Corporation, and preparing for the wedding—barely time to meet.
Almost forgetting her birthday was unacceptable.
Naturally, Xia Mingtang wouldn’t take the blame for being “inhuman,” and promptly asked, “I didn’t forget. Where’s the birthday party? Give me the address.”
“Good, at least you have some conscience. Just sent it via WeChat. Want to bring your CEO husband too? Yesterday’s wedding was too crowded, so you couldn’t properly introduce him.”
What CEO husband!
Thinking of that big-tailed wolf made her angry. Why bring him to a girls’ gathering?
She refused without hesitation, “No, she’s busy lately. Just us girls.”
